Imagine if, at some point, Rasputin himself is resurrected by a ghost. If a Siddhartha Golem can become a lightbearer, why not the warmind?
Considering that Anna finished the experimental Exo body R was using (giving it arms and legs), I’d say this possibility is getting stronger all the time.
Exos are only robots in the physical aspect. Exos, Awoken, Human, they are all the same in one aspect - the mind. Exos typically have a human mind, transferred into the robot body. Rasputin is code, robot from the beginning. I don't think he'll be revived.
If I'm wrong tho, yall feel free to correct me. There might be some evidence of a robot being revived, idk.

Even after Rasputin’s death, after all Eramis did, I just can’t get that one lore tab from Season of Plunder out of my mind - the one that was just Eido asking, pleading with her, to “come home”. 😭

It really seems as though Bungie are trying to give themselves as many breadcrumb trails as possible that lead beyond the reaches of Sol. Eramis and Xivu both bowing out in the build-up to Final Shape could definitely lead to the Guardian travelling to Riis or Fundament, and the question of whether Caiatl will ever return to Torobatl is also up in the air.
Maybe after Final Shape is when we'll finally get a chance to visit some home-worlds other than Earth.
I am one for optimism, even with everything going on around d2 and bungie.
This sounds like such a cool idea that bungie could take advantage of.
Yeah it's a good way for them to "clean up" the story and focus on TFS.

Riis would definitely make the next best planet. To see the ancient fallen civilization of the Eliksni compared to their current state would be quite interesting.
@@snivycon804 Two of those planets would just be infested with Hive, and I don't think Riis would have many enemies. They'd be cool to visit, but would be pretty boring to actually go and do stuff in.

Eramis really just lost the will to keep fighting in this war. When we were killing the possessed corpses of her friends, you could hear how jaded she’d become. Now, she’s asking herself a question that Mithraks and Eido have, that could change the outlook of the Elskni forever: “Why did the Traveler abandon us to die, and stay to protect Sol”? Rasputin’s sacrifice, despite being a machine, perhaps inspired the Traveler. The fact that humanity’s influence made a machine become human, made a sword into a shield, perhaps that is what the Traveler saw in humanity: our potential to inspire and unite others. Unity. The unity of different races and survivors from different times, spaces, and cultures, all coming together to form a Coalition to face the odds against us, and stare annihilation in the face defiantly. The Bomb Logic, is an ideology hinted to be connected to the Light. A bomb of complex parts, that could shatter the Sword, and illuminate the darkest night. It is one suspected that this is the motivation of the Traveler: choosing a people, that can unite others, to prove its logic true. Perhaps that is why Humanity was chosen first as Guardians?
People still hold onto this theory of Rasputin? The Warsats were targeting the Traveler. If the Warsats fired upon the Traveler it would’ve decimated the Last City in the crossfire. It knew that and so it moved out of the last city so the people wouldn’t be killed. It was also to confront the witness because it had no more pieces to play meaning there was no one for it to fall back to. If it wanted to leave it would’ve done it after Savathun tried to move it, or the endless night, or even before the seraph Warsats were operational.
You know what could be a potential awesome story post final shape? That we leave Sol for x reason and we end up meeting Eramis once again. Athrys settlement is barely surviving a hive threat for example, and refuses Eramis help after her abandoning them. Eramis is forced to ask for our help even if she doesn't like it, and at the end of the campaign she is forgiven by her parter and we let her go once and for all. Maybe one of Eramis hatchlings, now grown, decides to follow us back to Sol to see the world her mother left behind, theforgotten god (traveler) that they never knew and the future the eliksni have here.
the only sane character in d2 to abandon the light/darkness fight and live their life while they still can. hopefully she can find some peace, few characters in d2 get that privilege though.
She doesn't deserve peace, Xeno Scum don't deserve peace.
As Byf talked about the houses, it had me remembering when a house and a kell actually was apart of the story. I dislike the direction Bungie took with the House of Dusk, as there’s no Kell, there’s no uniqueness to the battle strategies or plans, it just simplified the fallen to a point of being boring, as there’s no stories with them other than Misraaks and Eramis. The only recent exception was with the new dungeon, but Bungie should’ve done something with the House of Kings as far back as D1
Agreed it's a bummer how Bungie kinda sidelined a lot of Fallen stuff over the years, most especially political intrigue. It cannot be overlooked that Variks's very specific decision with the Prison of Elders that set off the massive chain reaction of events for stuff we saw in Forsaken sorta lost some of the intended steam with certain reasons behind it. That whole side plot that Variks wanted House Judgement to be a bigger thing got written out(practically forgotten at this point) and in a lot of ways they really reduced stuff when they trimmed things down to just House Light prevailing and House Salvation doing their thing. It makes the decision to make Variks this almost sad clumsy meek sounding bug in Beyond Light seem a little out of place when he had more motivations and a desire for some form of control and power again with the Judgement stuff, he wasn't supposed to be a pushover and actively was doing stuff to get ahead.
I mean let's be honest this is something most of us saw coming from a mile away. The last few times she's been on screen she's been less outright evil and more on the fence. Negotiating with Eido and not just taking her hostage, hesitating to use the warsats in season of the seraph, and saving mithrax in season of defiance.
Would you ever consider making a retrospective video going over the lore from Red War till now? I feel that a deep dive into the older stories of destiny 2 might be a worthwhile watch for old fans and new players alike. Especially now that we are at the endgame of light v dark.

@ethanhaselwood9520 A recap is certainly helpful, but what I'm suggesting would be more along the lines of commentary on older lore, older theories, maybe updates on loose ends if those exist. Especially with three extra months of time before TFS.

Should we see more of Eramis' story, I wonder if we will ultimately see her let go of stasis. For some, it is a tool that can be used with prejudice, as Elsie taught us; for Eramis however, its a manifestation of her desire for control and her hatred for the traveler.
Now that she's doing some soul-searching, and might actually be reunited with Aethrys, choosing to abandon stasis could represent Eramis releasing her bitterness and vengeance
Idk i think she goes through a zuko like revelation where she has to relearn stasis and tap into a diffrent source for it
Only the dead are free from pain. Eramis is strong and has proven that when she sets her mind to something she will make great strides to reach that goal. I’m sure we’ll see her again I just hope when we do it will be as allies who survived the end of the Universe as we know it.
I hope one day we see Eramiskel again, perhaps upon a true Riis-Reborn
I hope Drifter uses his hoards of motes protect him from the final shape and that he ends up becoming the last being in existence.
I do find it interesting that Eramis has good reasoning to leave Sol, as opposed to Drifter's plan. Whether she survives the Final shape or not. she's finding a loved one, Drifter is staying with his.

Eramis does have a point though (although slightly out of time): why DIDN'T the Traveller run before the Collapse (the first one)? Was it tired of running, or had it seen some spark of promise in humanity to end the cycle of uplift-run-uplift-run? It was after all at the end of the Collapse, at the apparent death of the Traveller, that it released the Ghosts. But the question of why it all went down this way remains (unless I've missed some huge lore dumps....).
Thinking back i have to wonder if the traveler was trying to gather a following and lead them all to one place. That way there would be enough of it's followers in one place to stand against the witness.

Was really hoping she'd pop up as a scorned boss either in this last season, or at the very least in the beginning of TFS, to at least show 1) there's consequences to betraying the witness and failing them, and 2) that she is tragically meant to never see the future she always wanted and makes up for her less than stellar story arc. It'd also be cool if she became part of Xivus forces or something but idk

The Witness already punished her failure with the war sat network. It had a large chunk of her forces, and some long time friends/allies, killed and turned into scorn or wrathborn. As for her defection, the Witness doesn’t know or care about what’s going on outside the pale heart. It’s focused solely on the final shape now.
You forgot Bungie laid off a ton of people; those with that idea either were fired or are too scared to speak up now, so we got this.
@H240909 I believe the punishment of her forces being turned into Scorn and/or Wrathborne was shown during Seraph and it was her failure during the Season of Plunder

Considering Eramis would be bringing Stasis home, if the Eliksni there are willing to listen, she'd be able to teach them it - like how Elsie taught us. We might end up seeing a developed House Salvation come back with a deeper understanding and manipulation not just of Vex tech via Splicers, but also of Darkness - perhaps taking notes from the Drifter and liberating Taken Eliksni if any could be conjured or found.
Or, a funny alternative, Stasis would find use as a utility - as a tool to make brief supports for construction or to freeze things for storage, in contrast to its initial weaponised state.
Sure, Eramis may face scorn at first perhaps in much the same vein as how Elsie as The Stranger was kept at length, or how Drifter was seen as a threat for his dabbling in manipulation of the Taken and darker forces.
Ultimately, whenever Eramis and co do decide to return to Sol, I hope they do so after the Pale Heart matter has been resolved - to see that the end had simply not happened. It would be a sort of closure for her as well, to know that Xivu had been diminished and the Black Fleet in disarray.

I'm glad they at least touched on Eramis going to look for Athrys, it was a story beat I've hoped for since end of Seraph. So much so I was hoping we spent a (at the time season) episode of something like Athrys and family being held by Witness forces and we have to help Eramis to get them back. Still hope it's not the end of her story either way

I find it to be a very interesting prospect that Riis may not be destroyed and I actually think that if Bungie chooses to continue Destiny that first we have to deal with the Vex, but after that our main mission would most likely be to help our allies take back their homeworlds. IE, Torobatl and Riis. If they weren't amongst the taken planets on the Witness's Pyramid Ship.
Eramis was a really good character. I hope she still has a role to play.

I haven't finished the whole video and I can say, my idea is a little crazy but there are also some facts that might my idea be impossible...
However, you talked about Rasputin and his sacrifice... How similar is the behavior of Rasputin to what the traveler wants from his guardians?? And even if there is no dead body a ghost can revive... How interested is this idea...?! 🤔🤔

My bet is that what ever Riis content is in Destiny's future it'll be Eramis that calls us there.
Hearing this video it gave me a thought. I think we'll see Eramis again but during her trek back home, she's going to get into some trouble and we're going to find her just in time or get an SOS outside of our system and that's where we find her again. Fighting with the last of her house against a new threat that just happened upon her or her group had unleashed. Maybe the ketches of her house got downed on different locations of the map leading to story missions having us work our way through and saving her house or even finding some dead and slaughtered by this new threat.
To me she is not showing up "oh hey missed me?" I think we're going to find her again and we're having to save her. An expansion could be done around this as our first trek outside of the system I feel.
I wonder if she'll run into the Skrank Gang..

A lot of threads are being left open for what comes after The Final Shape. Eramis, Xivu, Fikrul, Torobatl, the Vex. Savathun too. Plenty of options to leave the immediate Sol System, but who knows what the future will bring?

The planet is dying, the government hates us and Eramis is leaving
Ngl, Eramis doesn’t deserve a happy ending. I'm not saying I'm not happy she's left, but she's not a good person.
I could go on about how she turned Riis-Reborn into a death trap. Her double standard with hating humans for defending ourselves against her people. How she sided with the Witness and almost blew up the Traveler, which Rasputin had to sacrifice himself to prevent. The numerous times where peace was an option, and Eramis blew them all for petty revenge.
And after everything she dragged her people through. On Europa. The Asteroid Belt. Enslavement by the Witness and Xivu Arath. Eramis decides to run off to either die with her ex-wife who dumped her or die alone. Eramis is running away from all the mess she made without even telling her subordinates and underlings that their best chance at survival is with Mithrax and House Light. Despite herself believing that Mithrax and Eido will be the ones to lead the Eliksni to a future.
Eramis is just a generally terrible person who gets way too much sympathy.
I hope that we can at least put Eramis six feet under for her crimes, even after the Witness and Xivu Arath gave her what she deserved by turning her forces into Wrathborn and Scorn.
She even admits that she’s beyond saving, but people seem dead set on giving her some crazy redemption arc.

@chriswu772 Actually, that's not even proper punishment. The punishment was directed towards Eramis, but she wasn't the one who was suffering. Her people paid her her incompetence.
100% this. I dont necessarily think she should be executed, but pay for her rampant horrid crimes in some form, certainly. I get the argument that we should have some sympathy due to her trauma, but that doesnt excuse her actions, as mentioned above.
In the grander scope, I always felt like Riis Reborn was a mini power house base for the Eliksni hence why we still need Variks on Europa as our diplomat of sorts. Or did the vanguard essentially subdue Riis Reborn? Feels like a big loose end. What are the Europe Eliksni up to? Has a random Captain been keeping the lights on assuming Eramis was coming back and is still doing evil stuff in her name or what? I guess I'd ask the same about all the Fallen still in control of Earth, but we're getting into the weeds....

Seriously though, I do enjoy the fact that Eramis has a chance to leave this mess and make a home for herself elsewhere rather than just getting fridged. It raises hope that she might be a lead to another plot thread I've been wanting to see for a while post-Light and Dark saga, where we go to Torabatl and Riis and help the Cabal and Eliksni purge their homeworlds of the taint of the Darkness and rebuild, as they helped fight alongside of us. Eramis might not be happy with the idea, but her hatred towards humanity was always more geared towards our association with the Traveler than a more personal beef, and if she does find Athrys (who was described as her 'guiding star', ie her impulse control), then she might be talked into accepting our aid. She's one of the most morally grey antagonists in the writing atm, so just killing her off would have been a waste.
It's worth noting, though, that Eramis didn't have a choice when it came to firing on the Traveler- the Witness was watching her, and it was clear from the way that she glanced back at the doorway that she thought it was going to materialize right behind her. That doesn't mean that her firing the Warsats wasn't a pivotal moment- it's when she realized that revenge was futile and that the world was not as it seemed, which she had to learn the hard way- but I think it would be unfair to claim that there's no going back from that choice or blame her for Rasputin's death when she never really had a choice in the first place. If she refused, the Witness would have fridged her- literally. It wasn't until it was through the portal that she was able to go full turncoat and help Misraaks
Either way, I'm pleased with the fact that her story isn't over yet, and I think something interesting to remember as well is that in the lorebooks from Season of Plunder, Misraaks's mother describes Eramis as someone who was once meek and quiet (or something along those lines). The Eramis we've seen while she was in Sol wasn't really herself- she was working purely on a mixture of all-consuming rage, betrayal, and grief. Maybe next time we cross paths with her, we will be able to see her as she is when she's not blinded by her anger or grief, and has someone by her side to keep her from spiraling into terrible, destructive habits. That would be a character arc I'd love to see- especially if it involves Eido and her interacting again, as their interactions in Plunder were precious
I don't know why eramis can be forgiven, she crossed a line that could have ended a entire species and tried to destroy the traveler...

Regardless of her saving miithrax, because she owed him one.
You can't really forgive eramis unless she somehow aids miithrax in rebuilding eliksni people back to who they were before the Whirlwind and even then she will probably die.

The only taken Fallen units are Vandals, Captains, and Servators kinda with Chimeras. Kinda weird they never updated Taken to have more units.
No, but since dregs are just docked vandals it’s to be assumed that they just grow their arms back when they are took.
Interesting. I, for one, thought that Eramis was trying to destroy the Traveler to prevent the Witness from succeeding in opening the portal to the pale heart.
Of course, didn't think like that at that point, but I had that impression once the pyramids arrived. 🤔

I think eramis would make a great addition to the house of light or the elixni at large simply because of how old and experienced she is. after we inevitably defeat the witness she could teach the younger elixni their old ways, revive forgotten traditions and cultures, maybe she could find happiness again even if she doesn't forgive the traveller, hell I wouldn't even care if she didn't as long as she can look past all that hate and see that there are thing more important than vengeance, which I think is the direction she going and maybe in the distant future shell become an ally, even a friend. after all the greatest of friendships often blossom from conflict, hardship, mutual forgiveness and respect.

What I don't understand is why everybody doesn't just leave, I get that Humanity doesn't have FTL travel but the Fallen, Cabal and Vex do and clearly have extremely advanced ones at that, specifically the Cabal. The Cabal have nothing to gain, the entire species of the Fallens ideology seemingly has changed from wanting the traveler to survival and the Vex have no reason to even be here or even care about any conflict going on, the hell is the Darkness going to do between dimensions and through infinite timelines?
Like it never used to matter since they were just invading and the fallen wanted their ball back but now they have EVERY single reason to get up and leave, hell most a part from a few characters of them probably have no idea who or what the Darkness even is or why to even care about it

Now I wonder what would have happened if Eramis had destroyed the Traveler. The Witness wouldn't be able to enact the final shape, would it still send forces to attack us? Probably, but interesting to ponder

I figured they were going to turn her into a Scorn just like Praksis. I figured based on him coming back they were going to Scorn everyone and bring them all back as stasis wielding Scorn bosses. Taniks included. Seeing her just dip is kinda disheartening. My biggest fear is we'll never see her again and she's just left on a cliffhanger.
I think, the mention of Riis, could imply this is one of the worlds we may travel to after the Final Shape: the decimated, life-sapped world of Riis; a glimpse at what terrible fate would’ve befallen our worlds, if the Traveler had fled. Perhaps Eramis will remain neutral? Perhaps she may call for Coalition aid in the future, and this beckons us to Riis beyond Sol, to fight another threat.

Not surprising - Bungie seem to be intent on phoning things in at the moment, such as re-re-re-running Dreaming city missions in the last season of D2 (a poor choice from where i sit)
There are so many things to tie up and with an extended season plenty of time to do so...
A shame Bungie have checked out of caring about their one game and no longer want to put actual effort into it.

Nope! At best people said "the Witness was trying to use the Shadow Legion to distract us", why they senselessly put Amanda in a precarious spot and fridged her is nothing more than amateur piss poor writing. The season was just not good and frustratingly counteracts situations where Bungie said "Rasputin is too powerful to write story around" yet we have Mara's magic cheat codes on speed dial with no questions.

I know this video is about Eramis but wouldn't her destroying the Traveler go against the Witness's Final Shape plan, think of it as wielding the key lock closed and then trying to use a key to open it. Buts that's just my seemingly a plot hole nitpick that really takes away from Rasputins whole sacrifice thing if you think too hard about it
Man, it's so annoying that I can't play the house of light story. I would love to see the fallen starting to collaborate with earth; it's such a fun idea.

I have to admit I'm a little disappointed since I was hoping Eramis would end up dying saving Eido or Misraaks only to be revived as the first Eliksni guardian. I suppose that could still happen to some degree later on, but this definitely feels like a goodbye in case/for now situation if D2 doesn't get to continue past the first few Episodes.
I actually like Eramis's character arc. I just think the stakes never quite felt as high with her as a villain beyond Season of the Seraph.
Another question is, are we removing the fallen as enemies? Because the most prominent enemy House (house of Darkness) just got disbanded. And we still dont have an enemy race to substitute the fallen with
Highly doubt it, there'll likely always be Eliksni who have beef with humanity and will continue to fight us. House Light is still relatively unpopular after all
With how my last year has gone I can really relate to Eramis. Everything I did was for others and did nothing for myself because of self loathing, now I'm trying to let go and essentially go "home" after not being there for a long time

I still think Eramis's thing of "I am angry that Riis was destroyed, so I am going to join the people that destroyed Riis" is stupid. I get that she's mad that the Traveler left, but it kind of takes the smaller part of the blame compared to the ones that actually did the destroying.
Also worth remembering that per the Dreams of Alpha Lupi grimoire cards, the Traveler left to try to draw the Darkness away, not because it was abandoning them.
Hopefully Athrys helps Eramis back to her senses. I kind of wish we could give her the Athrys's Embrace gauntlets just to see how she reacts.
