The more I see of the Carol Burnett show the more I'm amazed at how talented they all were! She sounds just like Shirley... as a child.... So talented!
I love Carol Burnett. When I was a young girl, I used to watch Shirley Temple movies all the time. My oldest sister kind of looked like her when she was a toddler. Later in life my mom, who was a waitress, got the privilege of service Ms. Temple when Ms. Temple was a diplomat. My mom said she was very nice to the servers and to others. And from my mom that was a big praise. I had at one time a beautiful Shirley Temple doll dressed as The Little Princess given to me by my mom unfortunately it was stolen from my garage. ( serving not service sorry can’t fix it back without retyping everything lol). Ms. Burnett did a fabulous job of imitating Ms. Temple or as they said Dimple 😊
OMG CAROL BURNETT DID AN AWESOME SHIRLEY TEMPLE I LOVE SHIRLEY GREAT OLD MOVIES STILL SEE THEM ON TCM CHANNEL BIG FAN OF SHIRLEY TEMPLE AND OF COURSE CAROL BURNETT SEEN HER SHOWS SINCE I WAS A TEENAGER HOW TIME FLIES MISS THOSE GOOD OLD DAYS.
Oh my goodness I just love this she knocked the ball out of the park on this one I just love love this one Carol Burnett is a trip I just love her man she could do anybody this one she knocked out of the park🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣💕💕💕💕💕
Interesting that Shirley said that Johnson was never in movies and shouldn't be in politics (as was her life path)...and Reagan's. Any other actors that followed the political route besides them and Arnold?
@@donnawoodford6641 Fred Grandy, who played 'Gopher' on "Love Boat", got into politics....as did Sonny Bono and Al Franken of "Saturday Night Live", who was a Senator.... I believe there are a number of others...
The syndication version is enough to fool anyone since the first six years was unavailable to physical media for so long til recent years after legal clearance and untangling
"I carried all his scenes... I told him to get out of show business and do something worthwhile." "Well, he's a Senator now" "I know...Nobody ever listens to me" 😆😂🤣💀
This was funny and disturbing at the same time. Keep in mind her character is supposed to have a husband and two children here. That costume was brilliant. I have to wonder what Shirley Temple Black thought of it? She passed on in 2014, at the age of 86.
The irony of the sketch is there actually Shirley temple hated Hollywood as she was sexually abused as a 5-year old and was one of the first people to speak about the subject so now the sketch has a different meaning but actually didn't mention it in the 1960s carol Burnett couldn't have been aware of it brilliant shows that never make them like this again she was the best comedian I've ever seen
Interesting that in later years the character would be named Rhoda Dimple .Wonder if they got in trouble for sounding too much like the real child star
@@janedoe805 I was organizing my dvd coll. and have Shirley's short films in the collection, the creepiest parts were the adults around Shirley oohing and aahing while 1 or 2 actually touched her bare legs while smiling Devilishly. Hope they being fondled in Hell by demons with razor blades in their hands
Shirley would not have been as successful in the television age - her voice and accent was harsh (see "Bright Eyes") and unlike her contemporaries such as Virginia Weidler, Juanita Quigley, Cora Sue Collins et al - despite her talent, Temple could not inhabit different characters - she always just played Shirley.
One of the best carol burnett sketchs

Harvey laughing in the background, and ad libbing "Shirley, can you do that again?" is just *chef's kiss.

Hard to believe this was released in the 60's! Carol was definitely ahead of her time! 😁😂❤️️

wow forgot that this show started back in the 60s when Johnson was still president. I normally think of it as a 70s show.

Shirley Dimple....love it!
Shirley was accurately played by Carol ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ perfect mannerisms 🎉🎉🎉🎉 fantastic
Referred to the fact that Jane Withers was playing Josephine the plumber in the comet commercials!

“Mommy and Daddy hug and kiss me every payday” 😔💔
That was typical of child stars sadly

She apparently sued (or at least threatened to), so not a fan, it seems!

Dang, poor Shirley
She capitalized on this after doing an imitation of Temple in her 1965 Broadway show, "Fade Out-Fade In."
Yeah go Shirley!
She is cute!!!!
01:03 😂😂😂
“You better” lol
I just watched the 1976 version of 'Carrie', but her look at 3:41 will give me nightmares!
Imagine loud distorted music playing and intense zoom ins and outs and a red filter during that part! 😱😰😂
You BETTER!
I am a woman and must say...Carol has great looking legs!
For a moment I couldn't tell if that was Carol or Vicki, they really looked like sisters.
What happened to the Carol Burnett Shirley Temple "Don't be a Grumpy Wumpy" skit. I've been searching for it for years.
Carol had just done a similar character in FADE OUT, FADE IN. She danced with Tiger Haynes, like Shirley did with Bojangles.
Carol was my idol. Saw that show live, the same year I saw "Funny Girl." I liked FO-FI better. 😀
Interesting that in later years the character would be named Rhoda Dimple .Wonder if they got in trouble for sounding too much like the real child star
it's interesting how political the first 3 or 4 seasons were.
Healo im Shirley Dimple wuts yor name?

Lol
funny but the reality of Shirley's child star career is disturbing
