I agree she could sing snd well.I dont understand why she was always dubbed The same happened with Cyd Charise who sang and well in a Gene Kelly tv special
Wow, GILDA, was on the Carol Burnett show! Wow, I may have missed this one back in 71. Rita Hayworth. So nice to see her again and able to do a show with Carol! Carol, always had the best performers ever!
You can see how good of a person Carol really is by her getting big stars to be on her show, Carol is a star in her own right. Rita was the most talented and beautiful star in her heyday and always my favorite, and here she shows her good nature with Carol.
Property tax eh? Its sad in US old people have to work as if in their twenties and cant wind down peacefully...not the natural order of things....you should have more income tax instead
the charwoman skit was fun and all that Harry Cohen knew that with her beauty she looked her best when she was wearing either an evening gown or a nightgown....
@Devlin Adams: Margarita began showing the early symptoms of Alzheimers, short term memory loss, by the mid sixties. This, and other Alzheimer symptoms progressed to the point where by 1971 when this show was aired, she was incapable of remembering even one short phrase of dialogue. So Carol arranged for cue cards everywhere on set, especially during the Brown Derby skit. Interestingly, some Alzheimer patients can remember the lyrics of songs better than spoken dialogue. To ensure that Margarita wasn't embarrassed, they recorded the song beforehand with Margarita having the lyrics in front of her. Then on air they both lipsynced extremely well. Margarita had always been a master of lipsynching. All the singing in her movies was her lipsynching to another singer. And, in spite of the Alzheimers, she managed to lipsync well here. By the early eighties she was being taken care of by her daughter Yasmin in New York. She was by 1983 in the final stages of Alzheimers, not recognising anyone, in a world of her own. But I'm still as puzzled as you by part of Mark Gately's comment.
My mother always loved this show, and I grew up loving it, too! These women were two of my mother's favorite ladies in the whole word! She loved both of them. And the fact that they both had red hair (whether it was naturally red or not) made her love them all the more!
All you can do is notice , inspite of her serious health issue that started early , that this great movie star was gorgeous had her beautiful face right to the end
Reader is absolutely lovely and still shines in this piece I know that Carol was a big fan of hers for years and there was a lot of negotiating to get her on the show.. shortly after this appearance Rita really went out.. I know this information because my brother worked on the crew of The Carol Burnett Show
Mark, can you please explain what you mean by "after this appearance Rita really went out". Do you mean she went out with everyone on the crew and had a great time? Or do you mean her career was winding down? Or do you mean that after this appearance she went downhill physically and mentally as the Alzheimer's took its toll?
@@thecaleegochannel7154 : I Agree what did he meant by " Rita really went out" ?? I'm very curious about that statement myself because I think Rita Hayworth came down with Alzheimer's in the early 80s if I'm not mistaken
What a wonderful clip. I was just watching the Carol Burnett show in which am audience member asks had she (Carol) ever heard from people they had sent-up, and Carol said she'd recruited a telegram from Ms Haworth the previous week and were going to have lunch with her - with the hopes of getting Ms Haworth to guest on the show.
Boy do I remember those ugly hair & clothing styles! I was just a kid but I wondered what the hell people were thinking of, giving up their attractive '50s & '60s fashions for this. If I had only known how much worse it would get in the 21st century!!!
Rita SANG IN THIS EPISODE!!! FINALLY NO DUBBING!!! I hate that the producers at Columbia never gave her a chance to sing in her own films!
I agree she could sing snd well.I dont understand why she was always dubbed The same happened with Cyd Charise who sang and well in a Gene Kelly tv special
Agree!
She did sing in some. Check out the "Gilda" movie and her song "Put The Blame On Mame".
Rita is the most amazing actress
Hayworth’s bone structure is out of this word beautiful…
Can't believe Carol's big wig...
That's she got Rita Hayworth to come on like this is gold!
.
This must have been one of Miss Hayworth's last professional appearances.

This was more of a favor to Rita Hayworth, as she was short on money and her condition made it hard for her to continue working.
Property tax eh? Its sad in US old people have to work as if in their twenties and cant wind down peacefully...not the natural order of things....you should have more income tax instead
wonderful always wanted to see this have had the audio tape recording for decades
Me too.
my god. I love Rita so much since a long time. And seeing her on Carol's show (that I've discovered some months ago) is so nice. This is really cute
the only film of Rita singing with her own voice. It wasnt bad.
I’m so excited to finally see this! I’ve looked everywhere for years for it! ♡
Rita still look good
I couldn't resist slowing the speed and comparing moves. The way she moves her body is incredible even in this.
Agree absolutely. I’ve watched this clip so many times to see Rita.

How did you find out it is her real voice?
That's all a load of made up crap. Rita was 53 y.o. here and the alzheimers had yet to emerge.

Remember a member of the audience asked Rita, "What keeps that dress up?" Rita's answer "Two good reasons."
Nunca houve uma mulher como Rita Hayworth ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Su voz sigue siendo tan sensual después de tanto tiempo, esa era su verdadera voz siempre.
Rita was underappreciated for her dancing ability
I don't think so because she made so many musicals. She said she trained starting from the age of 3.
Fred Astaire said that she was his favorite dancing partner I think she was actually very appreciated by anybody that saw her
Love Rita

qué hermoso recuerdo y qué lindo ver a Rita en un papel tan distinto 💗💗💗
Amo a Rita Hayworth maravilhosa
Hermoso ver el talento de Rita. Cantaba bien.
Could anybody help me to find the episode when Carol plays Golda?,remembering Gilda.
I'm looking for it, too.
I LOVE these outfits! What can I search to find these??
Rita was 15 years older than Carol, but you'd never know it.
What year did this program end?
Gilda meets Mrs. Wiggins. Who ever thought?
RITA DE CARNE Y HUESO, que bueno verla así, fascinante. Ver su personalidad real en pantalla
Rita Hayworth a star in the sky...
