@@kiwiangeldust6912 everybody's entitled to an opinion but obviously this young kid that's doing the video don't know history because Harlem Nights Boomerang and Lief is considered Eddie Murphy classics
Eddie Murphy is one the most talented personalities ever. Well... I got a soft spot for him, he reminds my childhood back in the 80’s (and he still looks the same today, he forgot to get old), always loved his work. I don’t think he was bad in any movie. It’s the other way around, he is always good even in a bad movie. I came to this conclusion watching this video... every bad movie mentioned here I thought “but Eddie was great” in at least some parts. As much as I appreciate many actors, Eddie Murphy is one of the few I’d really like to shake hands and thank him for all the happiness and fond memories his work brought to me.
@TheNewyorkdragon I respect your opinion, but IMO talent isn't something you lose... either you have it or you don't. Maybe he wasn't doing his best, maybe he was playing the wrong role, maybe a director couldn't defy him enough, certainly he exaggerates more than needed, but I think he always shine (even briefly) in one way or another. Because of him so many awful movies are watchable. But I understand what you're saying, this matter is too subjective anyways.
Eddie is my generation. Is it me, or is Eddie looking more distinguished with age (my opinion) He was cute as a young man, as he gets older, he looks more handsome, less "goofy".He should do more movies that showcase his maturity ( like more 60's soul icons- Wilson Pickett, anyone?) Eddie shouldn't be pigeonholed.
This guy never has a clue what actually happened, he just talks 20 minutes, which film was good, which film was bad and in the end nothing said anything. He doesn't answer his own question about the title at all.
What I find interesting about this video is the evaluation of his career and success of some movies. Like we can clearly say a lot of his films didn't fair well from a profit perspective but there are so many that are essentially must-watch or show up on great movies targeted toward African-American audiences. Examples: Life, Harlem Nights, and Boomerang. I agree that they didn't fair well, but these were films that had packed audiences when I saw them back in the 80s, 90s, and 00s. Also with a lot of the films I mentioned they has majority black actors in the casts which might explain why they didn't have a broader appeal. You want to go down to Ray's Boom Boom Room? :)
Harlem Nights is my favorite comedy and Boomerang is my favorite rom com. With the mainstream success of Girl Trip, Black Panther and the Madea Movies I think if both of those came out now they would be hits since the general audience is no longer put off by black movies.
@@Brother_Dre1900 Nah. I tried to watch Harlem Nights. I really tried. But stopped halfway. Boring and the jokes where lame. And by the way I LOVE Richard Pryor. But in that movie you could feel that he didn't wanna be there. My favorite Eddie Murphy movie is 48 hours. Nolte and Murphy had great chemistry.
I was just entering high school when Eddie joined the SNL cast, and it was like seeing Michael Jackson for the first time, you just KNEW he was going to be a huge star. His humor was so relatable to those of us in that age range, he was like our generation's Richard Pryor
I've watched a few of your videos, so far, and they are really good. Like, really really good...New sub. Thanks for the great content and well put together videos.
"More selective" meaning he went with safer rolls that came with a giant paycheck. I love Eddie Murphy & can respect the hustle, but one can hope that as he gets older, he can go down a similar career path as Danny DeVito .
@@monkeyman2407 That's not what selective means at all. It means he won't just take any role that he's offered and instead chooses very carefully which movies he wants to be in.
He's done a lot since 1996 but some of it was not well recieved but he still did well. Showtime, Dr. Dolittle, Daddy Day Care, The Haunted Mansion, Dreamgirls, I Spy, Adventures of Pluto Nash, Norbit, Meet Dave, Imagine That, Tower Heist, Mr. Church, A Thousand Words, Vampire In Brooklyn, Metro, Holyman, Life, Bowfinger, Nutty Professor II, The PJs, and Dolemite Is My Name.
I think norbit was hilarious, I remember watching that as a kid and every few years I watch it and still laugh so hard. In today's culture it'd be pretty offensive tho.

You have give Eddie Murphy credit for realizing that have be extremely selective about film roles in future. We love you, Eddie, PLEASE don't suck anymore.
I feel that I have to point out that Life was an excellent movie. I’m sure you and everyone else missed that. Seriously, I don’t think many of Eddie’s movies are that bad. His films suffer because people expect him to do the same thing over and over, because a black comedian cannot possibly have any range. He also does movies aimed at different demographics, and many people who think a movie was bad need to consider whether it was really aimed at them. I freely admit I didn’t like the donkey in Shrek, but then I tell myself it’s a family film and the character definitely worked. Eddie might be back, but I don’t think he really went away.

Dr Doolittle
The haunted Mansion
Mulan
Shrek
“Life” and “Harlem Nights”...are faves.
He black. ☝️
Yeah , this video praises Bowfinger and Dr Doolittle but said Life, Boomerang and Harlem nights wasn’t...2 different worlds I see. lol
Docmananoff right. They done bumped their head.
Agreed
Yes absolutely two different worlds but that's what makes us so unique and special. Culture creates vast differences in taste, and the evolved human beings are able to experience what other cultures enjoy through the initiated lense. I for one absolutely loved Harlem Nights but can appreciate why another culture wouldn't. We are all beautifully different colors of the same spectrum.
I didn't see life, but I'm 54 and Eddie Murphy was a big part of our pop culture and it's hard to see an era move on. So thank you for the trip down memory lane with this little doc
This man just said "Life" is forgettable, cmon bruh
Life was released in 1999, the same year, and actually before, Bowfinger. Also, the film is far from forgettable.
you just said life was a “forgettable” movie when it’s honestly one of his best. you also called boomerang ass..get it together
Kendall Anderson It’s called an opinion you ignoramus
Keanu Paler an opinion on something he’s never seen...he said he hasn’t seen like most of these movies but he’ll listen to what the ‘critics’ are saying and just agree with what they’re saying without thinking for himself, thinking of his own opinion.
@@kiwiangeldust6912 everybody's entitled to an opinion but obviously this young kid that's doing the video don't know history because Harlem Nights Boomerang and Lief is considered Eddie Murphy classics
Nothing happend to him he is rich and has 10 kids
Getting rich and having ten kids are pretty big 'happenings'.
@@mikearchibald744 facts
A father who still hangs around and his kids are well adjusted; much respect🌞
That recent Saturday Night Live episode was really satisfying. We're so lucky to have it. Thanks for everything, Eddie!
Harlem Nights is UNDERRATED, that movie was so good
Eddie Murphy is one the most talented personalities ever.
Rafael Togami I’d love to shake his hand too....and Stallone’s too!
He lost me when I realized that he's judging movies he hasn't seen based on "critics"
I know right he’s listening to people instead of making judgments for himself and I feel like the whole video is just bashing Eddie
These are the merry days of confident incompetence, after all
I felt the same way! I loved Vampire in Brooklyn! Was not well received by most but I applaud the guy for trying something different
I don't think he was judging based on what critics said, more like, he was quoting them, since he has no opinion on the matter.
This guy never has a clue what actually happened, he just talks 20 minutes, which film was good, which film was bad and in the end nothing said anything. He doesn't answer his own question about the title at all.
I honestly enjoy The Nutty Professor. 1 and 2. Killed myself laughing. And it really touches your heart sometimes because you sympathize with Sherman.
Man those are my favorites ! Those Dinner Scenes😂😂 certified
Had to subscribe loving your work bro 🔥💯👌🏻😍👋🏼
You are right. For black audiences, "Harlem Nights", " Boomerang", and "Life", we're classics.
For white dudes, Boomerang and Harlem Nights are also classics (even if not box office hits). Love those flicks!
@@JoBloOriginals Latino man here, and I love Harlem Nights too
Harlem Nights is my favorite comedy and Boomerang is my favorite rom com.
Seems like a lot of people remember LIFE.
Life was awesome lol
So true ❤️
Life is one of these rare movies that can balance drama and a bit of comedy. Is really good.
Yeah I actually rewatched it a few months ago and it's still good
Man don't NOBODY knock "Life"! *sobs hilariously*
I was just entering high school when Eddie joined the SNL cast, and it was like seeing Michael Jackson for the first time, you just KNEW he was going to be a huge star. His humor was so relatable to those of us in that age range, he was like our generation's Richard Pryor
I grew up watching this good actor, he's a good man,I'm glad he's still here.much love Eddie Murphy
Thnx 4 everything good man. u were our hero of our childhood. Thnx 4 the laughs.
I’m glad I wasn’t the only person like wtf LIFE could never be Forgettable
Metro is so underrated, it's just a shame that people didn't seem interested in Murphy playing a cop that wasn't Axel Foley.
I need to watch that one💯
He's releasing 2 movies and is planning a stand up tour this year alone
I've watched a few of your videos, so far, and they are really good. Like, really really good...New sub. Thanks for the great content and well put together videos.
Don’t mind me. Just binge watching all these super informative WTF videos
“I don’t wanna suck, NO MO”
That’s the Eddie I grew up admiring.
Bruh i honestly dont care what movie he's in they're all good imo
I agree. Don't tell anyone, but i actually like Norbit.... and support Trump! XDD
Kalamata Olive I love norbit!!
Eddie Murphy: just giving her/him a lift home officer. Copper: ok. Eddie Murphy: phew another few minutes and I would have done a Hugh Grant 😂😂😂
LuL wtf, didn't know that song was Murphy :o
thanks for making those vids, joblobbi.
I very much enjoyed that it was very informative and well presented. I also learned a few new facts. Very good.
Excuse me? “Boomerang” was incredibly funny with a superb cast and a big HIT! 😨 Damn you!
I agree, loved it
I loved Boomerang
And SEAL got a #1 hit song on the soundtrack. :)
Cult Classic it had Martin, Robin Givens, Jon Witherspoon, Chris Rock, Halle Berry. This dude don’t know the classics that’s all
Love him or hate him! He is an American classic. There is at least one movie out there that you gotta love!
He started to be more selective with his movie choices and made a brillant comeback with my name is dolemite.
"More selective" meaning he went with safer rolls that came with a giant paycheck. I love Eddie Murphy & can respect the hustle, but one can hope that as he gets older, he can go down a similar career path as Danny DeVito .
Actually dolemite wasn’t really that good either. Again another staged PR attempt
Mr Church was dope too.
Life was forgettable? Erase you from my feed instantly!!did you personally watch any of these movies? No then how are you reviewing them?
When he made “Metro” in the 90s, he was trying to get into the same territory as Wesley Snipes who was really popular at the time.
I absolutely love Beverly Hills cop 3 and have zero problems with another 48 hours. Daddy day care was also nice
The narration of this film is different... Not a fan
....
Quirky and annoying
Someone trying REAL hard to nail comedic timing.... and failing.
I love that you recommend "Bowfinger", truly a classic.
Can’t believe he said life was garbage 👀 Life is a absolute classic. One of my favs. Eddies is the goat of comedy!
Did he just say LIFE was forgettable?
Personally I’m a massive fan of Eddie Murphy
I think norbit was hilarious, I remember watching that as a kid and every few years I watch it and still laugh so hard. In today's culture it'd be pretty offensive tho.
who gives a crap about "today's culture".
@Luke Mills yeah they all a bunch of leftist beta cucks. Are you one?
Yep
That's because we have no culture today loll
The closest we get to "CuLtUrE" is remaking old shit, with the most close minded perspective possible, while catering to the absolute bottom of the fucking barrel while patting ourselves on the back.
Nah, I'm ghetto and silly, but even I had to draw the line on that movie lol
In 2019 we got a great Eddie Murphy movie and a great Adam Sandler movie. Not something I ever expected.
What is going on????
Delirious is still my favorite stand up of all time!
I remember loving Eddie Murphy's movies.
Once in my childhood a TV Channel played all of his movies for a week straight and I loved every second of it.
Do a “WTF Happened to Adam Sandler”
Kim Jong-Un he still makes movies ?
Michaels Music You don’t even have to read all of this Looper article to see that I am right..
www.looper.com/17788/real-reason-adam-sandlers-career-falling-apart/
so you want him to get a bunch of stuff wrong about another legend in the comedy game? He was straight hating here.
All of Sandlers movies go straight to Netflix now. That's not a sign of failure. He has a multi picture multi million dollar deal with them.
He just dropped a movie last year Mr. Supreme Leader.
You know black folk got a whole different standard. Like the golden child. I and my family quote that movie till this day. And don't let me talk about harlem night......all mf day.
42 year old white dude here. When me and my brother were kids, Golden Child and Harlem Nights were our favorite movies. We would sneak viewings in on the weekends when our parents were asleep.
We too, quote Golden Child till this day.
These comments giving me the feels....black dude named Will and white dude named Anubra.
I still quote this movie all the time
I think it's just this guy's opinion in the video. He doesn't represent me. I love those movies.
@@anubrakahn2970 the strangest thing is that nobody asked
Boomerang is a movie that can still hold up today...
Glad he's back again, and "I Spy" did not suck. One of my favorite comedies
I actually liked Norbit movie, one of my favs. The movie is not for those who do not have sense of humor.
I don't really know if it's about having a sense of humor as it's more of having a particular sense of humor. You have to like and appreciate that style of comedy. It's why Adam Sandler's comedies aren't doing as well anymore..well, that and they're just bad lol.
No. It's sh*t plain and simple.
Party all the Time is a coke fueled masterpiece.
🤣🤣
😂
Bro what? You had me up until the movie Life. That’s one of his most UNforgettable movies ever.
6:40, that was incredible that he played 7 different people throughout this movie!🤣🤣🤣
Man, this channel is like a guide to a cementery of Hollywood stars.
"It was so bad that only Cuba Gooding Jr would do. the sequel" damn HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAA
Eddie was always funny nothing happened to him. There I saved you 20 minutes, you're welcome.
And he gives transvestite prositutes a lift home because he's that much of a nice guy
Why is this being ignored He is weird
How was life mentioned? That was an awesome movie with a cast of legends.
Here is something I learned in life don’t listen to people Harlem nights is a classic and vampire in Brooklyn is excellent
Oh my. So I ended up in *that* part of youtube again... Next stop: Top Tens of Stuffs.
Interesting how strong the reactions to "Life" were.
"He had to get the bad ones out of his system" cracked me up. Good one.
Anyways, thanks for the entertainment. Still way better than what they used to do in the 20th century. What was it called? Oh yeah: Boredom.
Keep on blastin'
:-)
"Life", "Vampire in Brooklyn", and "Harlem Nights" are cult classics actually. People in 2020 are still referencing these movies
I get the feeling this guy Lo-key doesn't like Eddie. Or he's just jealous.
Yes... Cause if you don't like something it must mean you are jealous. I haven't been able to stand Eddie past like Coming to America. So like late 80s early 90s era of him.
@@thomasc.5219 Apparently sir, you must not be familiar with the definition of the word "jealous". It is thus..."feeling or showing envy of someone or their achievements and advantages." I don't think he said he "didn't Like Eddie. Why would he spend so much time talking about someone he "didn't like".
Norbit, daddy day care, pluto nash, showtime all hiilarious
He's one of my favorite comedians.
Golden child was one of my favorite movies a long time ago. I haven't seen them in years but i preferred Another 48 hours over the first one. Must re-watch them now that I'm old and my taste would have matured.
Eddie Murphy is the greatest character actor of his generation. Easily.
Nah
Thomas C. You’ve been on so many comments in this thread trying to clown Eddie??? Are you okay??
Eddie was in some of the movies I've watched the most times - and still watch regularly. I will never get tired of Beverly Hills Cop (including the sequel), 48hrs, The Golden Child & Coming To America. Those movies are just perfect... long live Eddie Murphy (still waitin' to see Sexual Chocolate go on tour)
Bro I saw Showtime twice in theaters! That's crazy. I am 32. That's funny you say that. And Bowfinger is a MASTERPIECE
