  • Review and demonstration of the DR Lawn & Garden edger PRO. This is the manual start version but there is a electric station version that costs $100 more. Easy start and easy to operate. Features a curb adapter so you can edge curbs without doing a balancing act. Features a 9 inch hardened steel blade. You can pivot the cutting head 15 degrees in either direction. Powerful 179CC 4 stroke engine with 8.1 Ft lbs of torque. Oil is not included so you will need 10w-30. Unit comes about 99% assembled.
All you have to do is bolt on the upper handle and attache the metal rod that controls the cutting depth with cotter pins,Put oil and gas into the engine and it's ready to go. As you can see with how overgrown my lawn is it handled it no problem. I was able to put the blade right into the dirt and it did not stall. The other edger which is basically a 4 cycle string trimmer engine mounted to a frame did not have the power to cut through this overgrowth. Did as much as I could today as dirt is heavy.

Glad the one I bought was made in the USA, great machine, never had a problem.

Little trick I use is first run the mower over it then put the edger up on the flat grass and run the opposite direction. And when doing curves don't put the blade down as far and lift the back wheels up and you can cut circles with it. Hope this helps.

Wow, you weren't kidding about that overgrowth! Man, that was something else. You could save those piece and use them to fill in bare spots if you had any. See that, the Earth heals itself! It wants grass there, it will grow it. Left long enough, it would have grown completely over the sidewalk and met in the middle and nobody would have known.
Mine doesn't have the tilt feature. That curb-hop feature is interesting, I definitely could have used that. Seems like it runs awful fast though. I'd see if there's an adjustment screw, you can turn down the revs some, still have more than enough power to get through that stuff, save engine wear and gas too.

Had this edger since 2017 and it is the worst edger I have ever had. The metal blades are so soft they wear out before cutting season is over. Blade vibrates so blade because guide shaft slots are wore out. Have repaired this problem 3 times since owning. No problem with motor. Will never buy from DR again.

Try a different blade. Any 9 inch by 2 inch with a 1/2 hole will work. Amazon has a 5 pack of mclane brand blades for under $30.
