Hey Blitz, did you notice...Axle gets off the bus at the beginning all green & doesn't know anything. At the end of the video, he becomes something else...
No other band's debut album has been as freakishly great, beginning to end as Appetite for Destruction. And every album they've put out are equally mind-blowing, each in its own way.
G 'n R was my favorite band growing up and continues to be my favorite band to this day. Thank you so much for reacting to them and your appreciation for their enormous talent. Can't wait to see more G 'n R reactions!
It was his "craziness" that made the G-n-R music larger than life, thrilling and edgy. Yet most of the fans love Axl anyway...except maybe those he yelled at onstage or got into fights with.... (he wasn't the only hard rock musician who did that though)
When you said about metal being lyrically competent, you'll find that all music - especially this kind, is really symbolic. Far beyond most people's expectations. Behind the drugs alcohol and belligerency of most of these groups are some pure geniusness and some heartfelt shit. Like Kickstart My Heart, that was all about Motley's bassist Nikki Sixx and his crazy trip of dying three types to subsequent heroin ODs and revivals. This song's about Seattle and Axl's views and crazy experiences at the place, he wrote the song very poetically from that standpoint.
Bro this was one of my favorites as a kid. Your reaction was so satisfying. You get it! Man Axl was a natural tenor with the perfect rock rasp. Love it!
G N' R were at the height of their powers during the Appetite era. One of the greatest debut albums of all time. The reason they're also respected in the hip hop community is cos they got that street cred. They were grimmy as hell.
Guns & Roses, Def Leppard, and Motley Crue were on top in my day. Thanks for this 🙌🏼 I am dying for some 80’s reactions to Billy Idol - Cradle of Love and White Wedding are favorites. And I’d be surprised if you haven’t heard Billy’s Mony Mony before. I think you’d like some ZZ-Top too - Legs and Sharp Dressed Man are really fun.
The rhythm guitarist Izzy (also called Whizzy and jizzy due to unfortunate incidents Slash is still equally amused and salty about) actually was a heroin dealer. He dealt on a street level up to big bands such as Aerosmith or Mötley Crue. He was the one bringing in the most money that allowed them to try being musicians without completely starving. The remaining money came from bandmembers scamming woman, getting money from stripper girlfriends or working in a bakery. Their house was called the Hellhouse because it was a literal infested shithole in the wall. So yeah, the drug dealer perspective makes a lot of sense :D
Great job! I loved seeing your reaction and appreciation to great music across genres. You’ll recognize that intro forever now, ..I go automatically to playing the “air drums”!
Fun Fact: Before the release of their first album Appetite For Destruction, Guns & Roses made a cameo appearance in the Clint Eastwood movie Dead Pool, not to be confused with Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool.

I love this reaction 🔥 Man I just went to see them live at the Hard Rock last week, they're in they're late 50's and 60's with the EXACT SAME energy here. That lead singer 🌹Axl🌹 got energy for days and straight tore the stage up. Witnessing Slash (afro & top hat) play guitar in person seemed too good to be true and so many people just start starting in awe like a deer in headlights. 🎸🎸🎸🎸
I will always remember this song as the part in "Lean on Me" when Morgan Freeman playing a high school principal re-enters the school system after a long hiatus. He went from a sweet school with no problems to an urban school with sex, drugs, violence, and... failing grades, and the wake-up call was made that much more a reality played with "Welcome to the Jungle." Perfect pairing. Also, nice job with the video, reaction, and final thoughts. I'm officially a subscriber.
Slash is very cool. He is a genuinely nice guy, and happens to be one of the BEST hard rock guitarists of the entire rock-n-roll era of the 80s-90s and also in the 2000s.
@@CarrieLuikens yes I do agree. I read his book and he had nothing but nice things to say.. Crazy good times. Also, I went to the guns n roses concert July 27, 2016 in Atlanta it was awesome and slash is still just as cute as he ever was ❤️
@@donnahensel8794 True. Hollywood is definitely a part rock's darkside repertoire. Like drugs. However saying "welcome to LA/Hollywood, you're going to die" is not quite the same as saying "if you take heroine you're going to die". The former statement is more a challenge. Like a boxer saying they will beat their opponent.
Around 8:30 and after, the images of Axl in the head restraints/mental torture/programming are direct cops from the movie Clockwork Orange, by Kubrick. A must watch!!!
When he says "jungle" he refers to South Central Los Angeles, CA in the 80s. Watch the explanation or the meaning of that song in any other video here in UA-cam. The best is when they explain where they got the part that says: "You know where you are?... You're in the Jungle, baby!" from. Guns n Roses are amazing! That's what real music sounds like. Check out their newest release "Hard Skool". Is the sh*t!
You have to understand that those of us that relate to this type of rock, and metal, have anger issues. If you really listen and try to understand, you have to understand that this music comes from the soul, and that soul is pissed off. The reasons for the anger are as different for everyone as our individuality. The tie that binds us is anger.
I have never been a hip hop fan, even thought I didn’t grow up in the 70s or 80s, rock and roll music is my type of music. Guns N’ Roses is one of my all time favorite rock bands and has been for a long time
A few years back, the theme for the annual Girl Scout dance was “Welcome to the Jungle”, with actual jungle decorations. I’m still not sure if it was a tongue-in-cheek joke for the parents or an innocent oversight, but we were cracking up. Our troop banner said, “You know where you are? You’re in the jungle, baby!” 🤣🤣🤣
Rhonda Oh, I am one of the parents. The kids didn’t get the joke. 🤣 I’m not sure if the people who chose the theme did it intentionally or without realizing, but my co-leader & I loved it!
A rather grown up theme for Girl Scouts... (and I was a Girl Scout). I wouldn't recommend girls under 18 to listen to some of the heavier drug-related songs on the album. I was actually a teen when this album came out! It was heavy duty lyrics material for a girl from the Midwest! Plus I am a writer, so I pay very close attention to singers and lyrics! :)
Carrie Ann Luikens They didn’t play this song. It was just a jungle themed dance. I just didn’t know if that particular phrasing was a little inside joke for the parents or if they chose that without realizing it.
I still remember the premiere of this video on MTV!!! I stopped what I was doing, looked up and was entranced. I finally ran to the phone, called my mom and screamed are you listening to this???!!!! She screamed YES!!!!! And we were like OMG! OMG! OMG!!!!! I was a GnR fan ever since. Saw them opening for Aerosmith back in 1988
If you like the transitions and the complex orchestration, you should listen to their song Estranged. It's about 9 minute long so it might be a bit long for a video, but it's a great piece of art. Civil War is deeper than deep in terms of the lyrics, but again it's a long one... Axl Rose has one of the widest recorded vocal ranges, I can't remember if it is 5 full octaves or it spans across 5 octaves (?) but in terms of range most of the divas and celebrated vocal artists can't compete with him.
My daughter 11 was singing this while playing video games the other day and I was like ya girl that's the good music you singing. LOL It is amazing how this song still really works today.
My favorite band of all time ... When appetite for destruction album came out it shot to number 1 in just a matter of hours... Truly an incredible band...
LOVED everything they did...til I bought a live album of theirs. I can't recall the one, but I discovered I was NOT as hard as I thought 😂. He started talking about cutting off his girlfriend's f@#&ing head, and I returned the tape. I was NOT ready for ALL THAT. "You have GOT to take this back...it scared the $h!t outta me." I was active duty military and pretty tough as girls went...but still a southern girl. 😄
Sebastian Bach can sing circles around Axl. Axl's prime was the 80s and 90s, but he is not able to hit those high notes as well now. Sebastian has power pipes that don't quit. He also has sang on Broadway. That takes quite a bit of vocal prowess.
No one going to point out Rob Halford? Axl Is my fave but if we are talking technical ability Rob Halford. Pavarotti called him the greatest male vocalist of the century.

Man I haven’t even watched the video yet but MJ in the background is an immediate like lol rep the king 👑
Axl's vocal range is almost unheard of and Slash is often ranked as the number one guitar player ever
I read somewhere that Axl had the biggest vocal range of any rockstar. When he was on he was amazing. FU heroin!!
@@burkhartlaw1 Axl never did heroin. He almost folded the band over the members being on it. Stephen was kicked out because he couldn’t get off it
Sebastian Bach has a better range than Axl.
Joe Walsh. Period.
Slash is great, but can't fill the shadow of Jimmy Page. (In case you are young, THE MIGHTY ZEPPELIN)
Great review. Im old school and GNR is my favorite band of all time. Funny video as well👍👍
It's honestly amazing how good the musicianship and songwriting are on this album, it being their first. These guys were all prodigies.
Welcome to the club 😊, listening to to these guys for 40 years
No other band's debut album has been as freakishly great, beginning to end as Appetite for Destruction. And every album they've put out are equally mind-blowing, each in its own way.
I still have this CD. I still listen to it. I originally had it on cassette and wore it out... Lol
G 'n R was my favorite band growing up and continues to be my favorite band to this day. Thank you so much for reacting to them and your appreciation for their enormous talent. Can't wait to see more G 'n R reactions!
Yes, Axl is definitely crazy.
Next question.
It was his "craziness" that made the G-n-R music larger than life, thrilling and edgy. Yet most of the fans love Axl anyway...except maybe those he yelled at onstage or got into fights with.... (he wasn't the only hard rock musician who did that though)
It's not only SLash killing it guitar wise; Izzy doesn't get enough credit. Their constant guitar dueling and interaction is much of the magic.
Izzy Stradlin is an exceptional guitar player
Hard rock is one of the more complex music you can find.
And the message of the lyrics tends to be more complex than the surface.
Specially comin outta England...
Tell you how old I am... This came out the year I graduated. We wanted this to be our High School "Class Song" but got denied! lol
Omggg you had me laughing all through the video lol
GNR!🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽
Love it!
axl's vocals on this album are legendary... straight talk
Thanks for this 🙌🏼
I am dying for some 80’s reactions to Billy Idol - Cradle of Love and White Wedding are favorites. And I’d be surprised if you haven’t heard Billy’s Mony Mony before.
I think you’d like some ZZ-Top too - Legs and Sharp Dressed Man are really fun.
Love Billy Idol's "White Wedding!" Especially his sneers and yowls! He had a unique vocal style in the 80s and is still a phenomenal singer.
In their interview also they said they dont even spent much time for writing this jungle lyrics.. They effin smart how they hit their audience..
Its so easy by guns and roses should be next youre gonna like it!
I am so happy you appreciated that intro as much as me.
Saw these guys in concert. It was an experience! 🤣
I knew you’d love it 😂😂😂absolutely loved your reactions
Rap, Rock, Reggae etc. = music
Black, White, Korean etc. = people
Enjoy life forget color's race ethnicities etc...
We all have struggles and some people make it easier and some never do but at least don't give up!
#stopthehate
exactly i hate it when people bring race into music
I grew up on this music. You had me laughing so hard I woke up my hubby! Welcome to the 80's!
😂😂😂😂😂 thank you! Sorry hubby lol
I love this reaction 🔥
Man I just went to see them live at the Hard Rock last week, they're in they're late 50's and 60's with the EXACT SAME energy here. That lead singer 🌹Axl🌹 got energy for days and straight tore the stage up. Witnessing Slash (afro & top hat) play guitar in person seemed too good to be true and so many people just start starting in awe like a deer in headlights. 🎸🎸🎸🎸
Which Hard Rock? In Las Vegas?
@@CarrieLuikens No. Hollywood, FL
Same here. I always think of the intro to that fantastic movie when I hear this song.
Miss those days.....good choice!!!!!
Welcome to the jungle!!!
First time I saw this video on MTV music vdos. I fell in love with Slash😍💗 and after all this time, I still am. Slash for ever💗🤘 rock on.
Also, I went to the guns n roses concert July 27, 2016 in Atlanta it was awesome and slash is still just as cute as he ever was ❤️
Nobody matches axl in his singing…one of the best of all times and is still the master of his talent.
Hollywood is one place that welcomes songs referring to it's darkside. No matter how strong the warning, it's pull never ends.
Rock never shies away from the dark side of life.
I absolutely love your laugh!!! Love your reactions ❤️😂🔥
Thank youuuu ❤️✊🏽
Your welcome😃
Around 8:30 and after, the images of Axl in the head restraints/mental torture/programming are direct cops from the movie Clockwork Orange, by Kubrick. A must watch!!!
These guys- from The Whiskey to stadiums.....in the blink of an eye. Rock on,love music.🤘😎❤️🎼
This is from their first album and the entire album is fantastic.
What always struck me was how Slash always looked like he was just chilling and relaxing no matter HOW outrageous the guitar rift was.
You have to understand that those of us that relate to this type of rock, and metal, have anger issues. If you really listen and try to understand, you have to understand that this music comes from the soul, and that soul is pissed off. The reasons for the anger are as different for everyone as our individuality. The tie that binds us is anger.
One of my favorite groups going up. LOL I absolutely love this reaction again haha. You're a good Entertainer
Your facial expressions are priceless 😀😀😀😀😀😀 I remember when this came out💕💕 the entire CD is great. I had the cassette tape😀
This album was the bridge between hair bands and grunge. One of the best ever. Iconic. Epic. Keep up the great videos!
This is a solid album start to finish.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣just imagine the parents reactions 😱
Saw them opening for Aerosmith back in 1988
I remember running to the old school house phone and calling my friends. They changed the game.
I just love how nasty this album is.
I love them so much, I wish i could’ve seen them in their prime
If you like the transitions and the complex orchestration, you should listen to their song Estranged. It's about 9 minute long so it might be a bit long for a video, but it's a great piece of art. Civil War is deeper than deep in terms of the lyrics, but again it's a long one... Axl Rose has one of the widest recorded vocal ranges, I can't remember if it is 5 full octaves or it spans across 5 octaves (?) but in terms of range most of the divas and celebrated vocal artists can't compete with him.
Awesome Review Luv ittt
You're very insightful. America ain't for the faint of heart 😉
Yep. Alot of the hard rock and metal might have seemed like a sledgehammer coming down, but it was so energizing and exciting, not scary.
My daughter 11 was singing this while playing video games the other day and I was like ya girl that's the good music you singing. LOL It is amazing how this song still really works today.
Don't Cry from GNR is awesome. It really shows how good Duff's voice is
My favorite band of all time ...
Is he making a baby?
No, that's in the middle of "Rocket Queen"
We had this song play when the DJ introduced my husband and I for our wedding reception.
Axl has the widest vocal range recorded, so far.
Doubtful...Jeff Buckley /Aretha Franklin both had 8 octave solid range....Axle Roses breath control is his strong point...
Mariah Carey and Mike Patton are on that list too
Sebastian Bach can sing circles around Axl.
One of the best hard rock 🎸 songs of the 80's. It rocks 🎸 today, tomorrow, and for the rest of time 😀 😎 👍
