As far as the “you don’t cast your commander enough” argument goes- there are plenty of games in magic where you have such momentum that your commander isn’t helping. If you have a window where a control deck is out of mana and you need to resolve a big spell or maybe even an extra turn, you’ll choose that over your commander any day. If there’s a turn (after a board wipe let’s say) an aggro deck doesn’t have creatures, you’ll want to resolve a draw spell or a value engine while you can rather than your commander. Just because you build a deck around a synergy with your commander doesn’t mean the deck should RELY on the commander- that’s why some people will just scoop if you keep answering their commander (kinnan being the biggest criminal)
I see what you mean she is perceived to be good, I don't know the infinite combo with her, which is a good think probably. Love the deck you came up with, different from mine, I focused on cards that cared about second spell each turn, and managed to get the third spell tap ability off
She combos with any instant or sorcery that untaps her. Shes better in commander because the cards actually exist. Some are on arena though, like Twisted Fealty
If it means anything, I would have been frantically looking through my opponent's mana base seeing if there was a Cavern of Souls somewhere to make Roxanne uncounterable. I too forgot that Lier makes ALL spells uncounterable, not just yours.
At least MTG is still more balanced than something like Yu-Gi-Oh. . . . Too many people going for the OTK or FTK or 10-negate board or multiple floodgates - basically telling their opponent: "You cannot play!" Sigh. . . . I like being alot more janky with my decks and trying strategies that tend to not be used very often. . . .
I was kinda shocked when you said you found her bad or challenging, I've build myself a deck like this and shes incredibly incredibly strong imo, but I can see why she felt weak for u because you are running no infinite combos , which is hard to so when stuff like shore up goes infinite with her and etc
Yeah that roxanne match, they did not have threat assessment correct, going for the planeswalkers instead lier, that probably helped you get back into the game at least they didn't have any more token doublers out

Very true
She is 100% a multiplayer commander
@@TheDevonshireMint yeah that's fair

It's unfortunate that her ability have so many hoops. That deck build you made the commander around carried it.
@@Johnaroth yeah it's an unfortunate realization that some things are not destined for greatness

Yeah very true, but it is format dependant! You should see how fast modern and legacy are!
at 15:49 you can target opponent as well for 2 damage to them :)

Yeah I don't find joy in infinites so it's my problem tbh
A nice stormy buid! 😲
Stormy Daniels
I see it like poker, opponent has turn one Ragavan and I don't have a plan - fold and get another hand.
Fair
Fix the player that's competitive?!?! Yeah. . . . good luck with that, lol

Cool games. Even cooler the deck works without the commander .
Oh yeah deffo
