Ulamog should be used only as Commander. I used to play with my friend and everydeck had Ugin, I stopped to play with him because this. Until he removes the Ugin from all decks but ugin as commander
Surprised they didn't take more design from Theros. "When you don't control any other creatures, this card is a creature." Gives some protection from wipes, and just when you think you're alone, he is there.
I like alchemy card when they are mechanics that can't be implemented easily into paper cards, this is just a regular card that didn't make the cut for the real set so they added it to alchemy instead
Ethrimik being in a set with lots of enchantment creatures and not being an enchantment is sad. If it worked a bit like the Theros gods and wasn't a creature as long as you had another creature on board, it could at least be "insurance" against board wipes in a go-wide strategy.
I've had some luck in the queue recently with weird commanders. I've been playing Haktos the Unscarred and am seeing commanders I've never seen before.
I don't know why, but my Xanathar deck almost never earns me busted and overused opponent commanders. It's just a pile of Dimir good stuff with a little more ramp to play more opponent's cards. I have a little less than 50 winrate with it and it is very fun to play. Ah, matchmaking mysteries... :)
@@SurgingChaos19 I imagine the only other reasons they'd make it Alchemy would be a leftover that didn't make it into the main set or something they'd find overpowered in Standard. I'm not an Alchemy player, but I would venture to guess this isn't turning heads in that format and I doubt it would be broken in standard either. Tl;dr maybe a reject from the main set that they still wanted playable in some fashion?
Imo this alchemy set is one of the worst cases on why I dislike alchemy. Ethrimik is just straight up a paper card. Same half or almost half the set that either work perfectly fine or just need a few changes that could have just been cards in Duskmorn or used in later sets.
I love how you everybody just puts an Ulamog in there deck…
That is exactly why I hate brawl lol

@@bobsmith8510 yeah shame really
Duskmourne alchemy has actually been kinda sick for me. After putting Fear of Ridicule in my Zur deck I get a lot more concedes out of my opponents.

Interesting commander having to balance between creatures and no creatures. Or just being useful in either situation :-)
@@joshdao77 but is it actually worth the hassle?
@@MTGJosh i don’t think so, most of the time it's just a +1/+1 to all your creatures.. and a manifest i guess
Never understood why this was an alchemy card. Unless I'm missing something, it can work just fine in paper.
