Setting a STANDARD within STANDARD, are you? A most interesting experiment indeed. My only comment so far would be because you can run multiple copies of most non-land cards, there are way too many combinations to keep up with - that might be really interesting or really stale depending on your match-up. I would add also it might be harder to police given the absence of a Commander means players have a lot more free reign when it comes to what they put in outside of limiting the cards you play based on land cards you have. That is me saying from the perspective of playing only a few casual games with a friend who started learning to play MTG using a few starter decks.

Is standard brawl still a thing? I enjoyed that a while ago for a different commander experience.

Unfortunately the meta is way too tight to get too creative. Kudos for giving it a shot. But yeah. Unless you're running a really strong removal package singleton isn't really viable. It's way too fast these days. I'm struggling to keep up with golgari midrange graveyard shenanigans. It's ludicrous.

It’s so hard to play anything fun in standard, too many ridiculous aggro decks that win on turn three/four to account for, and when you play midrange they go over the top with reanimator. I used to love bo1 but it’s too crazy now

I tried standard with bloomburrow. Had fun but it's not for me.

Great video, I am trying to make this work too. It is a little jank but when it works it's fun, still haven't got to play Valgavoth haha. Doomsday Excruciator is from Duskmourne and it exiles all but the bottom 6 of both libraries, easy to cast in mono black and usually insta-win.

You want to stack your additional landfalls in your first main; you were playing them in second main, so you couldnt cast your sorceries because you go directly to end step from combat. Aggrivated Assault gives an additional main phase after the extra combat, Moraug doesnt. great video josh, the deck looks super deep

You had Lethal a turn early in the Freyalise game. Just drop and crack the fetchland. And boom two extra combat steps.

If i build a ninja deck it will be this guy, as i think hes the best ninja commander in dimir colours now

At 6:45 you missed an opportunity to get two Kaito activations in the turn by not activating him before swinging. When you ninjutsu Kaito back to you hand and recast him, he's treated as a new object and you can activate his loyalty abilities again. That's a huge reason why Kaito synergizes so well with the mechanic!

Surprised they didn't take more design from Theros. "When you don't control any other creatures, this card is a creature." Gives some protection from wipes, and just when you think you're alone, he is there.

I run Sauron with a bunch of -1/-1 counter stackers like Ruthless Sniper and Archfiend of Ifnir, and Maha, it’s Feather’s Night. Being able to do massive damage with an amassed army or something else and then cycling your hand basically every turn for an asymmetrical board wipe that doesn’t care about Indestructible is a really fun way to play him. And you just throw in some cheap reanimator spells like Animate Dead or even some MORE cycle like Defossilize, and you have consistently good hands and board control.
