Some people don't wash their hands afterwards I guess. You leave enough jalapeno or garlic oil on your hands (like me cutting up 4+ huge ones or 10+ garlic cloves) it does eventually sink in and burn dry skin. Mine soak it up faster because they are dry, but even so it needs to be a lot of oil. But maybe also very sensitive skin or something.
Wtf why are people saying their hands burn from touching jalapeño? Unless you’ve got cuts or something, you shouldn’t feel it at all. I’ve never had them burn my hands otherwise lol
razrv3lc some peppers have higher amounts of the oil in them. My Mexican friends mom who has been making homemade salsa for over 30 years every week without fail complained about it recently... it was completely random but her hands were on fire for days. It had never happened to her before but some peppers are exceptionally spicy and can leave your hands a wreck. It happened to me once and when I told her about it she totally couldn’t relate until recently when it happened to her!
Omg your lucky. I made homemade jalapeño poppers once. I was in so much pain I was crying. I had no cuts on my hands but they were on FIRE. Even under my fingernails were on fire. The jalapeño poppers were really good, but I cannot make them without gloves. Even with gloves I’m still afraid of feeling that pain again.
Usually I don’t get burnt but out of my many times I have handled jalapeños I have felt THE BURN one time. You don’t need cuts on your hand for it to burn. The capsaicin is absorbed into your skin. I’d say just don’t get a lot of the inside on your skin and don’t wash your hands with any warm or hot water. If it does burn use lemon juice or olive oil (among other things) to nullify the burn.
@@julialee143 I think it has to do with how much oil is in the pepper. It's not a regular burning either. Not Like getting jalapeno juice in a cut on your hand or if it squirts you in the eye when you cut it. Though both hurt like hell. This is like it's deeper in your hands. As if somebody turned the thermostat up but only on your hands. Its like in between your fingers & under the skin, like you cannot wash it off & it starts several hours later not right away, usually right before bed. & it doesn't happen every time. Some days you can chop 20-30 peppers, no effect. Others you could slice up 2 & get jalapeno hand. & it can even happen on a milder jalapeno than what you're used to. No rhyme or reason to it, so I wear plastic gloves now whenever I cut any peppers that have any heat whatsoever. I did hear that if you have dry skin your hands are more likely to soak up the oil, so before cutting moisturize your hands with olive oil or avocado oil.
