Van Life: why I live on the road

- wow, somehow another 3 months went by since my last video. I have been traveling at a faster pace than I would have liked to this summer and while I got to see a LOT, I didn't have much time or space to create what I would have liked to.
But life on the road sure has been sweet. And it’s coming up to my one year of van life or my vanniversary as they say haha.
I appreciate your patience with me and am SERIOUSLY hoping to actually film a van tour SOON. you might notice I have SOLAR in this video and it has completely changed everything for me.
Anyway, I hope some of what I'm talking about in this video resonates. Personally, the thunderstorm was my absolute favorite and I'm so glad I had my camera ready to go.
If you have ANY suggestions for future videos - i'm all ears. I'm personally really wanting to step away from other social media channels a bit to focus more energy here.

Dude! I absolutely love the looks of a low roof van, you can never have a pro master or sprinter ever look that good or perform as well.
I agree!!! Do I wish I could stand up sometimes? YEP, but I can get so many more places because of this.
Melissa's acoustic sessions are pure magic. I can't even describe how beautifully moving they are. I thought the Souvenir cover was amazing but this was just WOW !!!
Wow thanks so much!! If you ever have any cover suggestions - let me know! I’m always looking for new ones to learn
I thought souvenir was her song, that was a cover? Wowww so full of soul and it spoke to me too
"wanting a simple life is like asking for so little yet too much, it seems simple is a luxury these days" those words resonate with so many these days. Thanks for Sharing your Journey...
I love your videos. I am soon to be 42 and no kids never marrried(tried but never happened) I lost my job of 20 years and lost my dad ,a close friend and his son. So I am selling my house and plan on travel and have some kind of rig and probably do seasonal work and online work to fund my travels. The 9 to 5 life didnt work out for me so why not try something new.
WOW! NEW SUBSCRIBER😌 This was beautiful! I was almost in tears as it resonated with me so deeply🥹. BTW you have a lovely voice!
Thank you so much for watching!!!
I felt what you said about becoming too much of a homebody - too settled, you expressed it so well, THANK YOU! I couldn't agree more about discomfort! The "best" parts of who I am have came after I had placed myself in the way of (good) discomfort.
Nice video with great scenery and some good discussion about why you are doing. Van Life. Thanks for putting yourself "out there". Many of us are envious of your lifestyle!
1st. your song in the beginning was absolutely beautiful
Gosh I definitely relate to that. The thought of regretting not doing this is what ultimately got me on the road and I’m so glad I did
@missrovertravel I had this idea that if I ever hit the road, I wanted to travel to each coast, to the Atlantic, pacific, gulf and arctic sea just to scoop a jar full of water out of each. Could you imagine the memories you'd make but all looking back and telling your grandkids why you have random jars of water on a shelf and where they came from? The high lights of the journey! That to me would be worth it all
What a wonderful video,sooo true,you rock girl!
Truly, a beautiful explanation and exposition of what you've been up to for the last almost-a-year!
I’m glad you found home inside yourself. I sold everything I owned 3 years ago bought a van and lived in it for 2 years. It was everything I needed. My version of “eat pray love” ❤❤
Ahh I love that so much. It really can be so life changing
@@missrovertravel yes it can and it was
Beautiful voice and music and scenery! Looking forward to what’s next. Safe travels!!
Thanks so much for watching!! The scenery this summer was incredible
love this! I relate to what you said about easily slipping into being too much of a homebody and hardly leaving the house. That's kinda where I'm at right now...this makes me feel like I should give van life a go, at least for a few weeks to see if I like it. Also, your singing is beautiful!
It really changed everything for me. I let anxiety consume me in an apartment for some reason. Van life pushes me out of my comfort zone enough every day/week that it keeps me from embracing the anxiety I guess
Thank you for making this. So many of your thoughts are also my thoughts. I know I need to do van life and I’m counting the days until I graduate college and can do it. I am going by on fumes and I crave a slow and peaceful nature connected life
I’m going my first month! Keep going keep vibing keep thriving 🎉❤
Really amazing trip it was!
your singing 🥹💗 keep it up. you’re doing amazing. you’re beautiful and a soulful inspiration!
Thank you so much!! 🥹💛
A must😊
Great to have you back! Don't stay away so long this time 🙏🏼
Im going to try really hard this time I swear haha.
Another incredible video! So stoked to be starting vanlife and I can’t wait to see what it brings me
Im stoked for you!!! Gosh it really is an adventure that is well worth it
@@missrovertravel thank you! I honestly just can’t wait to start doing more UA-cam with my travels haha. Life gets mundane here in Ohio and I feel like I have nothing “cool” to make a video about lol.
That chair sure looks comfortable ; )
Almost looks like Wyoming scenery, and of course central Oregon.
Beautiful places you are traveling thru.
By the way, you sing well ...
The cabin idea is a good one.

Amazing content Melissa. Also, great job on your web site. What a fantastic resource for the raod side traveller. You have lots to be proud of!
I appreciate that so much!!
Thanks!
I appreciate you!!!
i love the style in which you capture & compose the documentation of your life!
I relate to guilt and shame around rest & play, and the perceived privilege & luxury of it. as a child i learned “privilege” to be something that i felt i didn’t deserve that would be held over my head.
i relate too to the weight of the burnout, exhaustion, the tension of always living in survival mode, the hyper vigilance stemming from never having safety in childhood or since then, until you begin to create it for yourself. it feels so weird & wrong when it does become a reality for you if you never had it. i talk a lot about how receiving love, leisure and safety doesn’t feel safe to the person that as a child was conditioned on a foundation of scarcity, depravity, instability etc…
living a simple life and savoring the simple things like nature, books, writing, gardening… do feel like such a big privileges and while they are, it really is attainable in varying scales. i’ve literally felt like i was wrong for having the space and time to read a book. if you relate then your expression for your needs of discovery and play were probably shamed or repressed in childhood too.
as a person that has lived in survival mode since childhood, it is thoroughly surprising, refreshing & encouraging to realize that the things that you want, desire & value most in life are so simple and are really so attainable, if prioritized. the real challenge of the desired reality coming to fruition is learning to allow yourself to receive it.
i lived out of my hatchback in the south on the beach and journeyed west and within less than a year i manifested into my life a household, an amazing partner, a rescue farm & my own business in a river / mountain town; but yet i still look forward to adventures in my hatchback, getting a van, being on the road way more and exploring freely for extended periods of time. i often notice feelings of guilt for the fact that i’ve been so blessed and am so fortunate to have a life that many people dream of and yet i still long for the road, reminisce on the days i was living out of my car and have a prevalent need for wandering…. but like you; i realized that this is a integral need for rest, expression, exploration and play that i never got to receive as a child or ever. one of the desirable perks in living out of a car without a plan, casually traveling is the uncertainty of what tomorrow will bring - to me i’ve noticed but even at home people can create that sense of wonder and novelty in their day to day life!
i’m celebrating that you get to live this lifestyle oriented around rest, exploration, self discovery, play and freedom and that the simple life is attainable if mindfully prioritized. 💗
Gosh I relate to so much of this. Thank you for sharing 💛
Love your vulnerability.
Beautiful voice and stunning scenery! Thanks for sharing 💕 Love seeing people living their dreams. Cheers
Thank you so much 🫶🏻
Beautiful Song, And Van. the inside of the Van looks like a Log Cabin, so cool.
Oh I love that! The wood does make it feel so cozy
@@missrovertravel What kind of wood did you use?
Love this Melissa!

Come spend some time in Utah and Arizona. We have tons of free camping! 😎
I would love to spend some time in Utah and Arizona soon! It’s getting quite chilly in the Pacific Northwest
Wow, this video def gave me the feels! I watch a lot of van life videos, and I guess maybe I've become too acclimated with them because it's been a while since one gave me the feels like this one. I have a van but am just a part-timer in it. Still too much anchoring me down to set off and be in it full time. Good on ya for doing it and discovering who you are in the process. And your song was great! Is that an original or a cover?
Ahh thank you so much! It’s been such an important chapter of life so far. And it’s a cover! Gosh I wish i was at a point of writing original music haha
@ I’m sure you’ll crush it on your first song! Yeah, I found the original and then realized I did hear it before in the movie “13 Reasons Why”. You do a great cover! Anyway, yeah, you convey the journey you’re taking in this chapter really well. Keep on keeping on!
Enjoy life and thanks for sharing your days with us. Ron/Sweden
Thank you so much!!
Been a while, great to see you back!!
Thank you!!! 🫶🏻 I know I really want to stop taking 3 month breaks from here haha
Good video! Interesting take on vanlife!

You're saving $24000 a year in rent. A one bedroom apartment in Phoenix averages that. Stay safe young lady! Timmy C Arizona
Gosh that’s a good reminder. Thank you so much!!
The greed of private campground's moves all nomads into the west. Public lands are more affordable and sometimes free. Sad, but that's the way it is.
Have safe travels, and...
👍 Rock on 🙂.
So true. It’s been really hard to find camping in a lot of places unfortunately.
Very nice video. Thanks for sharing your journey. sub & 👍323
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart,
and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Matthew 11:28-30 ❤
Jesus loves you ❤️
I love your voice! Jesus loves you so much-salvation is in Him! :)
thank you!
I will be the same someday.... No place to go home to...no family.just some friends who you don't want to invade their lives..why not do seasonal jobs with free housing?
Also you need to have a gun, for self protection, cause life is being brutal sometimes 😢
Always searching, never finding anything. If it was up to me, she’d be at home cooking dinner having babies.
