Van Life Beginnings | Why is road life so awkward?
Вставка
- Опубліковано 8 січ 2024
- This is my first video since moving into my 1999 Chevy Express full time and it's been a LOT. It has been an incredible opportunity to learn more about myself and start my journey of finding inner peace, but it of course comes with all sorts of in betweens and awkwardness. I'm excited to create more videos and bring you along on all the ups and downs as I head south to Baja Mexico for the winter.

I love your voiceovers, narration, and ridiculous cinematic view and voice!! Keep finding it I love it
sometimes it can be so difficult to decipher the difference between fear and gut feeling or intuition. i resonate with your journey, excited for you and i enjoy your content!
Be brave and proud! You are doing it. Never give up young lady.
It's smart to listen to your gut, not a failure. I'm 6'4" 210 lbs, former boxer, and armed.
When I hear weird noises, I move on. I'm enjoying your channel 👍
Congrats on taking the leap. 4 years in now, this way of life I find far more connecting to other campers and travelers who usually have similar mindsets. You never know who your new neighbors are too so I like to take walks to see, much more old school way of socializing and sometimes you get absolutely amazing groups. Couldn't ever go back to full time trapped in a house, not with endless discovery in our hands.
Oh to be young again. Be safe and enjoy all of it
Thank you!!!
Be kind to, and gentle with, yourself. You are very important, and never forget that you are PERFECT just the way you are!! Sure, you may want to experiment with tweaking this or that, but your essence is already established to be naturally in tune with the cosmos. Every encounter you have is an opportunity to practice love, kindness and generosity with others, and yourself. Be patient with yourself and the process, and know that everything is process...there really is no finish line. Trust your instincts(gut) as a starting point, but at times by thinking things through beyond that initial feeling you will want to reevaluate and re-adjust. I know you can do this. Try and avoid drama wherever you encounter or create it.
I look forward to following along on your journey. Love and best wishes from a 73 year old spiritual hippie.
Thank you so much for this 🙏🏻
Right on Sis... “Not all those who wander are lost” (J R R Tolkien)
Absolutely!! If anything I felt way more lost living in an apartment in a city
Always trust your gut! 💙 from one full time female full timer to another: you got this! Safe travels
Over 10 years full time. Enjoying the free camping in relatively warm weather in south west Arizona
I love van girls, this channel is such a great find.
heck yes, love this one melissa! i have definitely been nervous and moved spots before, whether or not is was warranted doesn't matter. just do what feels right for you! stoked to see the new journey unfold
Thank you!! Hope to see you on the road this year
Isolation is the biggest hurdle. Once you crossover you may find that crowds, malls, traffic and the like will scare you more than the out of doors.
Beautiful script and music.
Thank you for watching!!
You are a great storyteller, bravo!
Thank you so much!!
That smile! 😊
You are doing amazing girl!
Thanks so much girl!!!!
Congrats on taking the leap ! Trust me you are living so many peoples dream❤️ I’m gen z I’ve come to the realization that I’ll never own a home, and I don’t want to spend the rest of my life working till I die. Eventually I will take this leap 🙏🏾
I hope you can make it happen!! You learn so much about yourself. And gosh I feel you on not being able to buy a home
Just subscribed. Think I'm going to enjoy watching you evolve on the road! Best of luck & just have fun!
Thank you for being here!!!
I’m 60 years old and I haven’t traveled out of my area since I was 19. This video inspired me to go….Thanks!
Ahh love that!! Thanks for watching
Interesting. Curious to see where this goes.
Have you ever cosidered getting a little dog for a travle companion ? It would really help with alone time and it would let you know if someone or something is outside your van at night 👍.
It’s definitely a future goal. I would have to make some upgrades to make sure the van can temperature regulate a bit better I think. But I would love a furry companion on the road
good good things happeening some times they do
You got this, be kind to yourself and you will find your inner peace out there in the wild.
Thanks so much! I really think so
People that do well at van life enjoy being alone. It’s has its challenges but if you stick with it through the challenges you will figure out your van life and be very happy.
I think so! I’m looking forward to learning how to be happy alone
@@missrovertravel good luck on your journey. I find it very nice spending time alone at cabin or even just on a hike.
Absolutely beautiful, love this so much. You are cut out for this, I believe in you!
Thank you so much!! Miss you!!
Wow you are honest and thoughtful
I appreciate that. Thank you
Color me intrigued…glad I came across this one and I’ll be following the journey. Good luck!
Thanks so much! I’m excited to see where this journey takes me
Ahhhhh this is SO beautiful! Wowowowow! So many beautiful self reflection and growth moments put into such perfect words. Also love all the familiar faces at the end!
Ahh thanks so much Nikki!!!
Very nice video 🙂
Thank you for watching it!
Congrats on beginning your journey! I'm starting my vanlife and driving from East Coast to Midwest very soon, can't wait to start my journey.
That’s so exciting! Best of luck with your journey!
You got this. Just take your time
Aw, sweetie, almost everyone gets freaked out their first week or two. And feels inadequate. This was first I've seen your channel so I'm not sure if you were a city gal. If so, most are surprised at the weird noises in the woods and get scared. It'll get better and easier. We're all newbies at the beginning. Stay strong, Sister!
And …..get protection, bear spray, baseball bat with a sock on the end so it can’t be grabbed from you,big ol crowbar, knife, pepper spray, any intimidating looking tool and my personal favorite a Glock 26, small enough for a purse but holds 9 mm. 👀🇺🇸🕊 see ya in Arizona, I have a Chevy express and they’re tuff.
Sub’d👍
Lets gooooooo! Love this so much for you
Ahhh thank you!!! I’m excited to keep documenting it all here!
@@missrovertravel We’re all excited to see it!
I enjoyed watching your video I live in my van 🚐 too I like your van & I love your cat 🐱
I feel you
I will need to start my vanlife soon
Don’t be your own worst enemy! Give yourself lots of love and room to grow without beating yourself up. Everything always pans out the way it should. Im excited for you❤
You got this ❤
Thank you
Ingat ka palagi ma'am ❤️
Cheers!
Should become a hit, best van video I have seen
Oh wow thank you!!
I'm going through a very similar experience - recently left my partner of 7 years and am leaving our cozy apartment to begin van life. I'm so glad I found your account. 💛💛💛
Oh my gosh! It’s a lot of change at once but absolutely worth it. You’ve got this!!!
Love!❤
Have you ever considered getting a fainting goat as a travel companion, if someone comes around and your goat faints you will know someone is there.
Absolutely genius
I’m cracking up 🤣
Kudos for trusting your gut; You're not a failure and actually it seems like you're crushing it! If you ever need help with van projects, I've got a solid crew of people here in LA, feel free to reach out. Best of luck on your travels and thanks for keeping it real and documenting/presenting things in such a unique way.
Nate, how do people find you?
Your voiceovers are so super cool and inspirational. I've never tried doing this before. I hope that you're having such a ball in Baja! I'm in Slab City, CA for a while.
Thank you so much!! I’m not super comfortable talking to camera yet so that’s how I get around it haha
Hang in there Kiddo ...!!
Always trust your instincts. Always. Always do what the inner voice says; well . . . unless the voice is telling you to, you know, commit a felony or a murder. Then it's best to not listen and to pretend the voice isn't there, which will naturally upset the voice. But you know, the voice has got to learn some boundaries. -C
I know in my heart that my time will not pass me by. I trust in divine timing. I've done solo road trips before to the Southwest and I fell in love. But now responsibility calls. I have two parents who are getting older and need my help. I've resisted my life and resented my family for holding me back. But the truth is that no I e is holding me back and these are soul contracts that I have to honor. I am done with resistance because it only makes things worse. We all have to do the best that we can with what we have, and where we are at. This is me doing it and this is you doing it as well. Kudos to us all 🎉❤😊
I love your thoughts on "internal restlessness" I can so relate to it. I am 64 and ready to do the same...have the same excitement..AND the same fears.
Thank you for sharing that. It’s always a relief to know I’m not alone in those feelings
New sub! I like your style & look forward to your growth. Great photog gear & color grading 😉
New Subscriber here. I look forward to following your page.
Hello!! Thank you!!
@@missrovertravel You're welcome. Safe travels to you!
I’m thinking about it. I’m nearing 70. When I was young I seen most of the world has seen very little on my own country hopefully through the UA-cam channels, I can learn something before I begin my journey. Be safe, young lady.
Think gas mileage and battery storage.👀🇺🇸
You have a very beautiful speaking voice.
Thank you so much!
Hey there. Sounds like you have a wonderful new adventure ahead. 👍 Beauty 4x4 van ! Safe travels in 2024 ! 🍁🌲🤙( BC🇨🇦)
I feel so lucky to have a 4x4 van!! It feels more and more like home everyday
You may find peace going to a place like quartzite AZ. You can stay where it’s warm for 7 months at a time. Look it up. Best wishes in your new world.
People have great expectations about hitting the road. The trith of it is very difficult and takes a lot of willpower to make it work. Remember that safety is paramount! ❤
So true! I hope I can stick with it for a while
Love and light

Take it from a person wandering for a long time....go with the flow is more real when your your own company, even at 2am...sometimes..go, means just....simply go.
Have you ever watch a human and thought, wow that’s exactly what I’m feeling. Cause same ❤
Ahh so glad to hear that 🫶🏻
Mice in your Van i had to Laugh , buy a Cat 😂 i bought a Motorhome last feb when i sold my cottage in the uk, and i live full time in it love it, comng to the States in march for 3 week road trip no motels for me, can't wait you'll soon get adjusted its a great life ❤ happy Camping if i see you, ill wave Lol, Rich 🇬🇧👌🇺🇲
nice video, how do you find good places to go? also time heals all, good luck out there
I’ve been using iOverlander and looking up forest roads!
Are those 4x4 hubs on the van ?
I know eh ? Like not an ordinary Chevy Express, but a 4x4 conversion ! 😍
I can adapt to just about anything, but the inability to stand up in the van would be a deal-breaker for me because you can’t turn the van into a full-time living space.
I’m hoping to extend the roof this year if I can save up enough money for it! Because wow yeah the not standing up is hard. But luckily I’m spending most of my time outdoors
Melissa I always love your videos and and I look forward to seeing more! everything you are feeling is valid. be gentle with yourself. It's what I felt when I first got on the road but trust me, it gets easier but I also still get scared sometimes after 2 years on the road haha. you've got this and I'm proud of you. also I LOVE your fit at the end. where is that fuzzy jean jacket from? I'm always looking for one like that :)
Jess!! This means so much. And gosh hearing that makes me feel way less alone. I hope to see you on the road this year 💛
And oh my gosh the jacket was given to me by a friend but I’ll look at the brand and message you!!!
Where did you find 4x4 van?
You said something about you being from Michigan I am also from Michigan currently living in Westland. If you are looking for someone to help you with the driving I would love the opportunity ❤
GOOD FOR YOU!!!
The biggest tragedy would be to wake up at the end of someone else's life.
😢
Oh gosh that is so true!! Thank you so much
Don't you think that life is too dangerous? Since violence to a single mechanical problem in a non signal for cell phone to call for help or rescue? Have any video about that so important point??
It always starts… with a scantly dressed girl alone in a van in the wilderness with no one else around.
Sounds like the opening to a terror murder movie.
So scary
Your key words are transition period. Embrace it, no fear.
He was wounded for our transgressions, bruised for our guilt and by his wounds we are healed and made whole. (Isaiah 53)
Amen, HalleluYah! Jesus is King ❤🔥
Trust in GOD.
I'll pray for you.
YOU'LL BE JUST FINE.
HAVE FAITH, THAT'S THE KEY.
best if luck
Thank you so much!
Peppermint oil will keep mice out of your van
I’ve heard this!! I need to try that out.
I put it on cotton balls and put them in the nooks and crannies. Seems to help (having had mice prior to doing that...)
You will be fine and you will blossom. Trust your gut, this is what God/Universe gave us to protect us. How do you support this life type?
❤💪🚙
Get a kitten😻 safe travels
Oh my gosh I really hope that’s in my future!! I would absolutely adore a van cat once I get settled
Living in a confined space with kitty litter...and contents....is not a good idea.
@@marianfrances4959I know quite a few friends that do! They have really good ways of making it work. It’s going to be a while for me though. I would need to get rid of some stuff to make room haha
