van life: scaring myself in Colorado
I decided to document what I got up to on my birthday this year and it was SCARY. But I guess scaring myself has been a theme this year. moving into a van, living in a different country... this is pretty low scale compared to that haha. And spending this time on the road in colorado has definitely shifted my opinion of this state. I wasn't shy to admit that i'm not typically a fan of Colorado (don't come for me!!) but this experience has changed my mind.
I'm excited to put together a van tour SOON! I just made a few recent upgrades that I am so so excited about and will make my life significantly better.
thanks for being here!

I'm turning 33 tomorrow!! I was reflecting on how different my life is since my last birthday and decided to try to articulate my thoughts and feelings on it all. I'm living a very non traditional life being on the road full time and that comes with a lot of criticism, but I'm so proud of this little life i've created. van life has been an absolute dream for me (so far). I understand your desire to pursue your lifestyle, but I believe there are numerous reasons why settling down and having a family are important. The world population is projected to decline sharply in the coming decades. As formerly third-world countries rapidly modernize and achieve first-world status, they experience a significant drop in birth rates, averaging about 1.5 children per couple. Japan exemplifies this trend, facing a severe decline in young workers due to restrictive immigration policies that fail to compensate for the low birth rate. Consequently, Japan's economy struggles as the workforce diminishes. In contrast, the United States maintains a robust economy partly because it accepts more immigrants than any other country, supporting the demands of a younger workforce. This demographic advantage underscores the importance of population sustainability. Having children, while a personal choice, can be deeply rewarding and humbling. It continues the legacy of countless generations before us and supports future generations. Parenthood can shape one’s character, fostering resilience, humility, and a sense of fulfillment from overcoming challenges and nurturing a family. While it’s important to pursue personal pleasures, true satisfaction often comes from doing what is difficult and meaningful. Knowing that we have contributed to the well-being of others and that we are cared for in return provides a profound sense of purpose as we approach the end of our lives and beyond.

Please do not take this the wrong way, but as a man, why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free? Also, as an older, never-married man, I do regret not settling down with a soul mate. As Jimmy Buffet said getting old is not for sissys.

Being alone is terrible. We’re all incredibly blessed to have life and a relationship with God and Jesus. The van life seems like an awesome adventure. I’m glad God brought my wife and I together 3 years ago. It’s been a great joy to grow as individuals and in our faith, together. We’re so excited to have our first child as well. Babies are bundles of joy! And they got those michellin arms and legs and chubby cheeks and adorable smiles!! ❤😊😅

The student loans definitely make me feel some regret. But I don’t think I’d have the skills or drive to know I’m capable of going after what I want without enduring grad school. If I could do it all over again though I would have spent time getting a degree that has more versatility. This degree is SO specific

This is wonderful. I don't have kids. I live alone. I'm mid forties. Anyone who calls you selfish for not having kids is an idiot. Having kids is entirely selfish. Adding more people to an already overpopulated world, putting more strain on services for everyone else and making more pollution and waste from adding more humans. That's selfish. Good luck with everything. Looks like a great life.

I think it's refreshing to see a surge in people adopting the nomadic lifestyle. One reason is because it allows them to not only experience new relationships with other people but also to allow other people to experience them. I've met so many cool people while traveling. What was it your patients said? "Live now". Yeah, best advice for anyone and everyone on the planet. Do you. Be who you are. We all die alone if you really think about it. I'm going to subscribe because I admire your philosophy on life.

I find that there are REAL Wilderness Lovers.... who don't need to take selfies and videos just to try and make money from views. Ones who LIVE and BREATH being in the Wilderness... no matter WHO is watching. UA-cam is FULL of the other kind. The ones who "all of a sudden" have this interest in becoming a wilderness traveler/lover. All of a sudden... in their 30's. Which are you? So tired of phony videos popping up of people who start filming themselves in the great beyond, pretending to be lovers of that kind of life. Call me crazy... but when I see yet ANOTHER woman exposing her body (thong shot) to the world.... it just makes me (and every other man) think she craves attention and wants the views.

This video and message really resonates with me. I’m 21 and it’s probably TMI but I have never even kissed someone before. I’m a very independent person and the thought of marrying someone is not something that I see as a requirement unlike many people. I think finding joy in life on your own is such an important thing that everyone (and I mean everyone) should be able to do. If one day, I find the perfect person that loves me and we better each other, then yah I’ll get married. But I’m confident when I say I won’t rush that process and if I end up never getting married, so be it. This video was perfect…how you worded every detail was spot on.

No matter your life, you're going to question your choices when you reach your sixties. I did not want children, but found myself a father at age 33. One thing led to another.... I'm now 73, with a wife, two daughters, and four grandchildren. All live within three miles of me (partly because of my encouragement and help), and I cannot imagine not having my family. I'm one of the lucky ones as far as my health is concerned; I still take care of them much more than vice-versa. I pray I die suddenly and am never a burden to them. I think I was just afraid of the responsibility and started growing into it when I first held my new-born daughter. Life has only two purposes.1. Serve God. 2. Reproduce. However the reflections, questions, and doubts of your patients when they looked back may have affected you, know this: you'll do the same.

As we grow older we see what kind of child we were. So that itself should tell you, you are doing good for you or not. It’s up to you, to find your happiness. And living this way, will never have you wondering what if. You know what are living for. You made a choice. And more power to you. As for me, yeah, I live and will die for my love. Tht is the only thing that makes me keep working. Keep on fighting. Keep on! And since I have made a life that requires me to continue to keep going, (bills, kids, profession) I can only admire your determination to leave it all behind! Alone?? I laugh at this comments ppl say about ppl like you! Alone only means you can’t handle yourself. Can’t pleasure yourself over a simple accomplishment of I drove to the middle of nowhere and have an awesome view. Alone is the only way, not to depend on love. And at the end, we all just die alone. Very few, hold the hand of a loved one.
