A guy who sews, cleans house, does home improvement, renovations and repair, all by a mountain lake. Love it! 😊 I hope to also do that some day. Husband and I just bought a van, it’s in the shop getting its first check up/repairs. I’ve never missed a vehicle before like I miss our van. Can’t wait to get started on it!
Forresty, this Grandma is motivated now. I've been putting off a big job. I need to declutter, donate and organize my kitchen cabinets. Lived here for 5 years now and I'm sure there are things that I haven't used in that time. Someone can benefit from my abundance. 👍
It's funny I watched Foresty clean his house, while I'm surrounded with my own mess 🤣 ... Alright, I'm picking up a broom. Thanks for the motivation Forest!

You have the same problem as Chrome. Very old rubber trim around all the doors letting in all the dust a trail has to offer. Simple solution. A can of spray adhesive, and enough packs of black, 1 inch wide, 1/2 inch thick weather stripping. The adhesive they have installed after you peal off the wax paper is not that sticky. Spray on the adhesive to the weather stripping, not the doors, and apply the strips to all the door edges. It's up to you as to whether you leave the old stock stripping on the doors. In my case, the stock strips were too far gone, so I took it all off, and doubled up on the new stripping. Worked quite well with the spray adhesive. The doors shut so tight now, and never vibrate at all. No more dust of any kind. Had to do this because finding new dealer weather stripping was not possible these days., and the dust was coating everything in the van. Water was leaking in the front doors during heavy rain, and pooling on the floors in the front. This caused major rust under the stock floor mats, which had to be removed with a grinder before undercoating the bare metal. Now it's all good. Hope this helps.
Did that on my caravan, moved to a place on a gravel road. My original rubber seals were good so I just cleaned them and stuck on the 1" foam seal. Stopped all the dust
Look like you should use it on the side doors, if you can ill seal all the doors on the vehicle with the new weather stripping, it'll help you keep warm and dirt out!

My wife says to tell you to make sure you don’t run out of bobbin thread when you’re sewing. There have been at least a dozen times that she’s literally a few inches from completing a project and her bobbin thread runs out! 😂
He's the only van dweller I've ever watched that brings a sewing machine. That's awesome. Just in this episode look how useful it is! I think he exposes real life living on the road! Great vid.
This kind of content is very good and you should do more of it. People just wanna know what it is like to live in a van and this includes all the small and mundane details.
It's hard to sacrifice two good days in autumn for van cleaning when you could be having an adventure, but it's so much easier to tidy the van when there is some warmth and daylight.
Another great video! I love that you don't really take any sponsorships and whatnot. You're one of the realist van lifers I like to follow. Even a video like this is more interesting than the "advertisements" others post!
Two things I especially love about this....your retired crockpot is now your life long travel buddy, and, you inspire me to organize my living space!👌❤
If people are flashing their high beams at you you probably need to adjust your headlights because of the lift. A quick easy turn of a screw that’s right behind your headlight assembly
HI FORESTY!! HOPE ALL IS BETTER WITH THE VAN. I LIKE HOW YOUR TRYING TO BE ORGANIZED. A RARE MAN YOU ARE. I ADMIRE YOU FOR THAT. I WISH THE BEST FOR YOU AND HOPE YOU HAVE MORE ADVENTURES IN THE FUTURE. YOU NEVER DISAPPOINT. WELL PLEASE STAY SAFE AND REMEMBER YOU HAVE PEOPLE OUT THERE THAT CARE FOR YOU. ALL THE BEST TO YOU. i've tried to watch a lot of van-life channels. 40% are just way too fake and over-excited and over-smiley about everything. 30% are as boring as watching paint dry. 5% is always some french asshole. And 25% is some pot smoking hippy. You are genuine, and honest about your experience. Logical, thoughtful, and methodical. i like the hiking, van building, cooking, and the puppy (to come). Can't complain about anything. you're upfront, honest and simple. I thoroughly appreciate that. And a shot of whiskey doesn't hurt either.
Silicone spray is a must have. Spray down those door seals, rubber gaskets, conduit, even clean off and treat your wipers. Rubber breaks down, dries out, and cracks in cold and wintery weather, also from UV sun damage. Can also use it to lubricate door hinges, locks, latches, etc.
I stubbornly refuse to accept my van build is heavy 😅 removing the three rows of rear seating cut a lot of weight. Plus its rated as a 12 passenger. One of these days I'll hit the weigh scale to see where we are at. But thanks for the tip, I'll try to aim my headlights down and see if that helps.
@@forestyforest you're probably right considering the specs. Could also be the lift causing the difference. Either way, adjusting them down slightly should help. I was getting flashed a bunch with my truck camper and finally adjusted them once a group of bikers expressed their feelings about it.. aha
@@forestyforest Look for some videos on aligning your headlights, there are some tricky parts, like the passenger side headlight should be slightly higher, so you can see animals on the roadside better.
I'm sitting here at my desk at work....as usual I am full of nothing but envy of how this man can play with power tools as much as he delights, all day long with full creative power of how and when and what...this channel is my escape from my squashed life...
Forests can pretty much do whatever it takes to live his best life, and it looks pretty fabulous to me! His videos have given me an opportunity to relive my camping past in Alaska and Washington State.
My hubby likes to sew too. He's made all 6 of the grandkids several outfits. Starting with newborn outfits up to corduroy suits for the fellas and twirls dresses for the girls. He's an engineer, and there is something about it that connects the dots for him.
This was a very fine episode and this is what I really prefer to look. Just the ordinary van life and cooking, and telling it loud what you are doing. Of course the mountaintrips are very nice also, but you have been lacking this kind of content a long time, so it is a very well welcome :)
I can commiserate with Forestry about trying to impose some order on a van full of chaos. If I don’t keep up on my chores, they pile up until I can’t seem to get anything finished. If there are lots of things to do, I’ll start on one thing, but soon move on to something else, until an hour later I’ll have half a dozen partly finished chores half finished, instead of 3 chores totally completed. Love your channel. All your videos are very entertaining, as you make your way through your day.
I LOVED this video! ❤️ It was so interesting to see how so much can be accomplished with so few resources. A brilliant mind like FF helps a LOT too! What a fascinating person. So glad he decided to share his genius with us. 👍
My van never looks like that but then my OCD is the main reason. Love the fact that you are out in the bush sewing and building. So many UA-camr's channels are only fluff driving all day or only cooking. GREAT to see some real life.
Foresty Forest filler videos have more good content than most van life regular videos. He holds himself to a high standard which means we always get awesome photography, great editing and pure entertainment for content. It's okay to be in beast mode and not savage mode all the time 👍😉
When I'm camping with 3 kids in a tent trailer, this occurs at least once per day. Your cleanup looks a lot more peaceful and with a more satisfying outcome!
I really like these types of videos! Sure, it's amazing and at times breathtaking and astonishing to see the beautiful mountains and the areas you explore taking us along the journey (with amazing drone shots). We also like to see more of the cozy home on wheels :) So this video sure was a treat! Thank you.
I like the fact that you're making your van your place and it doesn't look like I just walked into an RV on a sales lot. There's nothing wrong with it and knowing your way around the tools is definitely a plus.
That was nice of you to give back to the environment. The birds will love the new nesting material you left for them on the beach. Have a great day, SiLly
I don’t know why but I started cracking up when you pulled out those chips. Had the same bag going bad in the back of my Subaru Forester on a road trip out west in the states. Ended up feeding them to some seagulls out in California.
I love, love, love this episode. I’ve always found cleaning and organizing so calming and rewarding. It’s my go-to stress reliever. Add in some build outs and this is the perfect episode for me! I’m sure this one I’ll see over and over again.
Most of the pretty vans are unnecessary heavy for aesthetic reasons (to each their own) and most don't do all the stuff you do that needs outdoor gear. I wouldn't even worry about your van, as long as you can find things and you are happy.
Sometimes the smaller the space the harder it is to keep organized, more stuff than there's space to fit everything. Hang in there. Stay warm as it chills out for 2021.
I have a 2 bedroom upstairs suite and still have the same organizing issues. I think the people who have no clutter ever are either ocd or hiding something.
These are my fave FF vids. Shows his industriousness, skillsets and as the below poster said, imposing order on chaos. Watching him add to the inside build, making the most of every square inch of space inside his 'home' - really enjoy these. Be safe, Foresty!
@@janoycresnova9156 That's the main idea. You obviously cannot live in a van with a woman. You might end up strangling her and get in the news. Hard enough living in house with a wife. It's why we keep thinking about jumping in a van and just taking off.
fact is, 20 feet of living space does not look any worse that 1200 sq feet, stuff just seems to pile up and it takes just putting it somewhere. Love to see you living your life, doing things, going places. If i think about it, it is kind of sick on this end to realize that life here is almost done and this is it. Watching someone else live. Thank God for having people like you doing things to brighten an otherwise stagnant life.
Have you ever considered starting your own van life build business you are obviously a jack-of-all-trades and I'm quite sure a lot of people will give you business you're very Hands-On with your builds
all places get untidy, dont worry about it. you cleaned up your home very well. and your creative and make different things to put your stuff in , you should be proud of yourself for making adjustments. stay safe.
idk why but I just love watching people do simple tasks like tidying up, its so satisfying at the end. maybe thats why this particular video got so many views! love it!
Excellent post FF…. I’ve been watching a multitude of vanlife videos for some time now as I’ll be starting my Boondocking retirement adventure in the near future and this video is super helpful in documenting the real challenges of van life. I’m not as proficient in sewing /electrical/ carpentry as you and realize I’d better up my game in those areas if I’m going to make it work. Thanks for posting realistic vs fantasy videos… they’re quite helpful. I’m officially subscribed as of today! 👍
So amazed at Forest's skill level with everything electrical or mechanical He seems to be confidant he can deal with the endless curve balls life in a van out in the bush is throwing at him.
Dude you showing me your real and messy van is the reason why your the only van life channel I watch! Love the down to earth and real content none of this scripted bs. Keep it up man love it!

I have a 2 bedroom upstairs suite and still have the same organizing issues. I think the people who have no clutter ever are either ocd or hiding something.
Please create more of these type videos. By far one of my favourite episodes.
Quite satisfying and enjoyable to watch. You are a true Renaissance Man.
These are my fave FF vids. Shows his industriousness, skillsets and as the below poster said, imposing order on chaos. Watching him add to the inside build, making the most of every square inch of space inside his 'home' - really enjoy these. Be safe, Foresty!
You know the guy is hardcore when he has a sewing machine in the van.
LOL I laughed when I saw the sewing machine. Then I saw what he did with
it. And thought "Oh that's why he has that thing."
Not too many ppl can do such good woodworking on the fly. Super impressive.
Wife: "why cant you help a bit more with the house chores?"
Me: "too busy watching Forest do his van chores. Houses are over rated!"
Im dead! 😂
You'll be living in a van by yourself soon like Forest if you keep doing that
@@janoycresnova9156 That's the main idea. You obviously cannot live in a van with a woman. You might end up strangling her and get in the news. Hard enough living in house with a wife. It's why we keep thinking about jumping in a van and just taking off.
@@janoycresnova9156 You're saying that like its a negative thing. If my wife brought home a van and said get out..i'd be like see ya!
@@mistermister2085 @Ronnie Guitar You guys said it. respect to both of you.
fact is, 20 feet of living space does not look any worse that 1200 sq feet, stuff just seems to pile up and it takes just putting it somewhere.
Maybe one day - I think he prefers the mobile life too much, a shop/business would tie him down to a physical place
all places get untidy, dont worry about it. you cleaned
up your home very well.
and your creative and make different things to put your stuff in , you should be proud of yourself for making adjustments.
stay safe.
great video FF/// You can do these types of vids anytime. i really enjoyed it
@@Capecodham wtf? LOLOL. always have n always will respect these guys. vids = videos=;-)
@@Capecodham not going to "disrespect" Issacs channel by defending my typing you take care and have a nice day 😃
This is why I watch. The hikes are fun and the drone footage is legendary, but I do enjoy the cozy at home episodes. Good luck.
Protect this man at all cost
The on-board sewing machine is the best! I see a lot of good ingenuity here.
You have redefined the meaning of “ put my laundry away”. You may as well have just put the bag in the drawer, Lol.
😂😂
idk why but I just love watching people do simple tasks like tidying up, its so satisfying at the end. maybe thats why this particular video got so many views! love it!
weedwhacker motors attached to your own bicycle seem to be a really popular addition in this neck of the woods
Great idea!

@@ihaveabonetopickwithyou That idea beats Jon's bike farming project to the ground.
Thank you. Definitely helps to know the electrical from the ground up. Helps when you're out in the middle of nowhere and stuff stops working!
Couldn't sleep so I watched you clean your van. That's 2021 for ya.
So amazed at Forest's skill level with everything electrical or mechanical He seems to be confidant he can deal with the endless curve balls life in a van out in the bush is throwing at him.
Wow I'm glad I got to see your dark side, Foresty Hoardist.
Dude you showing me your real and messy van is the reason why your the only van life channel I watch! Love the down to earth and real content none of this scripted bs. Keep it up man love it!
112, 400 viewers are watching a guy clean his van down by the river.
Foresty Forest's Zoo has some good views.
Foresty Gump: _am I a joke to you?_
@@Jon-jk8vd Baba: YES !!
I am reminded that van dwellers live in their transport vehicles and I have so much respect for any time the vehicle remains clean. I hate cleaning my car:) Loved this video.
