Just something I've learned over the years I've owned Sherpa's, it's best not to use fabric softener on them because it destroys the fabric fibers and creates more matting. When washing sherpa, use a delicate cycle; 1/2 cup of baking soda, white vinegar, and only one tablespoon of detergent. If you have to have a scent to it the dollar tree sells Luv My Carpet powder which has different scents and baking soda. Let it air dry and then use a brush to revive it. It works like a champ! :)

@@MrAres1love No, it gets like that through regular use (I have the same UGG comforter she is showing in the video). Since it says dry clean only, I thought taking it in would make it like new, but i the I got it back the same as it was when I dropped it off. So she is showing how to make it feel/look similar to when you first buy it. =)

For anyone wondering, Yes this does work on Oodies. I didn't have Fabric Softener on hand so I used a Pre Wash/ Pre Stain Remover and that works just as fine. It does leave a faint smell but it still works as good as Fabric Softener plus I heard Fabric Softener could over time worsen the fibres on the Oodie, therefore, you need to buy a new one. It took me a whole hour to do my Oodie but still even after an hour there are still spots that I will need to go over again as it was taking so long for some spots to become soft again.
Another tip I learnt was that if you want to keep a Sherpa or an Oodie soft while machine washing. Make sure you wash them on their own with Cold Water, a little Detergent but not too much, little to no Fabric Softener, a cup of Vinegar and on a Gentle wash or if you don't have a gentle wash like my washer then try and see if you can set the spin on a low RPM or just stop the machine as it starts to spin dry and take it out and give it a really good wring out. Don't air dry it in the machine. I've been recently told that it's harsher than a normal spin for some reason. Basically, you only wash it when needed but not as much as normal clothes as the fabric on these tend to turn to shit.

I don't use fabric softener and my sherpa blankets. They get so dirty quickly. It has gotten to the point that they are no longer soft. I think I will put a little hair conditioner in a squirt bottle and brush it through my sherpa blanket and soften it a little. I will then wash it in cold water to clean it and let it dry naturally and brush it again gently if it needs it.

The sinplest yet most laboring way is to wash it on delicate/handwash setting on your washing machine using mild or sensitive skin detergent (tide is a popular choice). This is bc sherpa has sensitive fibers and non mild detergent will strip the fibers. Buy a slicker pet brush from the dollar tree if you do not have one!! I say this because it gives the best fluffing results. After the washing is done, take the material and start brushing until it gets fluffy. I do not recommend using a dyer because high temperatures can destroy the fabric, but if you are persistent on it, use the gentle/delicate/air dry option or put the heat on low.
Edit:DO NOT USE FABRIC SOFTENER ON SHERPA! it strips the material of its fibers as well!!! Regular cold water is just as good!

So the reason the Sherpa isn’t staying the way it needs to one oils in the skin also the fabric softener attracts dirt particles thus Weighing it down.causing fibers to stick together more.

So after u did the fabric conditioning, do u put it in a laundry cycle to wash it, or do u jus leave the fabric conditioner on the blanket?? I don’t know if I wanna my skin to touch the fabric conditioner if I sleep in it again..

I wouldn’t use a dog brush on Sherpa I used it on one of my Sherpa blankets and it pulled a lot of strings out so after using it a couple times it looks worse I would stick to the dry brush lol. On fux fur a dog brush works really well though

After watching a few of these, While thinking fabric softener isn't something I want on my skin, and it can possibly collect dust and debris. The oils from our bodies also add to theproblem. So I took my blanket I was wrapped in, and made a 1/8th cup of Vinegar (I use vinegar for the cleanest Windows), and using a fingernail brush, and started working my blanket. I just want to say, thanks for the quick ideas, when I start my Sherpa, I'll probably use the same process. Good luck

I found this real nice suede Sherpa lined jacket but the Sherpa is dirty like it's been sitting at the bottom of a pile of dirty clothes for a year. I don't want to throw it in the washer and ruin the suede. I can't find any videos on how to clean it can you make a video or tell me what to do?

Ok this is gross and embarrassing but my Sherpa comforter has gotten hard and crusty in spots and washing has not helped. It’s almost as if someone sprayed glue on it. What the heck is this?
P.S. I’m pretty sure it’s fake Sherpa cuz while it was expensive it wasn’t an Ugg brand. I had to go with least expensive from Kohls.
