nice video ! I use both GH7 and S5II : they use the same battery which is nice. What I love about my S5II : The image quality (color and dynamic range), the open gate 6k (ability to reframe and crop better vertical version), and the f1.8 S prime lenses. To me it's like the perfect cine lens set but with great autofocus. I use it mostly for corporate videos. What I love about the GH7 is the slow motion, the real "pro camera" features (timecode, hdmi downconvert...), and I love how small the telephoto lenses are. I use it for sports shootings, documentary work, and livestreaming. Sometimes (like when recording events) I bring both : then typically the S5II will have the 35mm 1.8 while the GH7 switch between the ultrawide and the 35-100 f2.8. Now... Do I consider my setup ideal ? not really, it's not ideal to be split between two camera mounts... and even 3 mounts, since I also sometimes use EF glasses (both on the S5 II with the sigma adapter, and GH7 with metabones... that sigma 18-35 is something). I ended up spending a lot of money on Lumix cameras and lenses since 2014 (gh4), but they have all been amazing gear, never let me down, always a pleasure to work with, and delivered amazing results.
it's not a very popular opinion since almost everybody works with sony nowadays... But I agree, when I have to shoot on Sony cameras I don't have a good time. The shooting experience is so much nicer on Lumix, so many little details that Lumix got right. The Sony AF might be a little better, but it is in the same league as the Lumix PDAF : When the Lumix AF isn't reliable, the Sony wouldn't be reliable either, it would just suck a little less, but ruin your shot aswell. Image quality is very good on both if you know what you're doing, most modern cameras are very good.
I am a Canon person, but I bought a FZ80D just to get my hands on some Lumix technology. I really like it, and I might be looking at a Lumix full frame in the next year. I do very much love the interface and the quality, and I like what I see from other photographers using Lumix. It's hard to describe why I have such positive view of the brand. Possibly it's because I have many decades experience with Panasonic and I know that the company spends a lot of time trying to figure out what consumers want. They also pay attention to professional and commercial photographers and I think they listen. For the past few months, I've been on a 1:1 monochromatic kick, and my Lumix bridge camera gives me really beautiful square images.
That's exactly what I feel about Lumix. I am hooked by the brand philosophy and their attitude to users. And glad that I got such this nice comment, thank you!
I have a deal proposal for the S9 and I have the zv-e1 which I feel disappointed with for cinematic videos, then you said the S9 isn't the cine camera out the line up, I do have the external cooling fans but this is pretty important insight, the deal comes with a 20-60 for 1200$ though so id save 200-300$, plus have the s9 at 1000$ Do you think I should wait to get the S5ii, the photo features do appeal to me (Toy FX looks awesome) but video is most important
Hi Kensei! I think one think is not covered. It is a Hot shoe. So for example Sony cooperate with Dji and have a adapter that allows to connect audio receiver to camera without any audio cabels. What lumix could do in that area. I mean is there any option to have connecting to hot shoe any audio receiver (not XLR our any audio big boys) but stay compact and with less cabels? Maybe there is a system that I'm now aware of it ?

I love lumix. I went from canon to lumix to Sony and then back to lumix 😅. Nothing beats my s5iix and s9
Glad you came back to the Lumix Gang!!!
