I wonder if you are able to do this process on a Model 3 RWD 2023 if so could upload a video with prices and specs on what they do, that would be fantastic!!!!! 🙌
"we'll let them explain the problems" [just reads the problems] would have been cool to see the process of fixing those issues, even at a higher level. This video wasn't as interesting as it could have been.
@@kathyxi4588 I don’t think they’re gonna tell you it’s probably a trade secret of some sorts. That’s why I didn’t show a lot of dismantling. The battery actually is not that hard but they did make it look hard.
Does the car still have the factory powertrain warranty? I’m curious as 2016 cars should still be covered (unless delivered at a very early date in 2016), and the earlier Model Xs I believe are 2016s
Would upgrading the battery through an independent shop like this give Tesla a reason to cancel free lifetime charging? I'm thinking about buying a cheap model X and upgrading the battery.
@@AIAddict it’s trivial for them to just take the VIN and ban super charging. They did it to Rich Rebuilds. This isn’t a guess. Your only hope is that they don’t notice.
Hello, thanks for sharing this video. Do you know if in Europe there are people that do the same work? Actually I have a Model X 75D and I would like to upgrade the battery. Have a good day, Fabio
Just imagine if they had a (open) supply chain, that you could order if you meet basic high voltage certification and Tesla specific training. Just imagine a world where @3:30 was not the only means to have 3rd party service (and supply chain). Surely that is a beautiful world that we all want (well not musk obviously)
That would be wonderful and it’s what a lot of people and shops are fighting for. It’s amazing the effort people are willing to go through to still help Tesla owners in the community though. The whole community right now entirely relays on parting out scrap Tesla’s and working independent of Tesla. EVS Republic does an incredible job at helping customers who are tired of dealing with the manufacture
@@AIAddict I think the economics and need is there. You see rebuilders turning profits from buying two salvaged teslas while keeping one working tesla from this. People will jump on this; because the secondary market is so starved for parts.
The cost for miles gained isn’t technically the “best” unless you have a degraded battery. However, the service is available in Sacramento. It takes about 5.5 hours of labor + material costs. Let me know if serious. We could always film it too! Lol
@@EVtripper You will need to speak for the shop (they are called EVS Republic). The battery we used was already in our possession. I believe in normal situation the battery cost about $9-$10k. I know the labor is about $1,000 plus cost of materials
Why would you get more? The upgrade of the 75 pack to 90 is actually less than 20% in usable capacity. The miles increase inline with the percentage increase.
@@AIAddict From my knowledge, there isn't a Long Range RWD that exists. Or at least not anymore. I believe there used to be though. But I think the LR battery capacity has increased from 75kwh to 82kwh.
@AI Addict Possible but not recommended. Tesla had structural and airbag differences on the 100d due to the increased weight. It is a potential safety issue in an accident.
At 7:56 to 8:06, you say that the vehicle now has an updated ideal range of 84 miles? What are you talking about here? A 90D should have a full range of well over 250 miles (yes, those are "tesla" miles that aren't real world miles, but you know what I mean). My guess is that you're showing a battery that isn't fully charged, which doesn't do justice to this fantastic work. Without further explanation, it makes it sound like you're saying that 3/4 of the cells in the new battery pack are cooked. To a Tesla owner, a full range of 84 miles is absolutely horrifying.
Typical ev hater that is more guided by emotion than logic. The world will evolve with or without you bud. Have you ever been to a junkyard and seen how many ICE vehicles there are? Teslas can end up in salvage due to many reasons besides reliability.
it's so cool, ev's are the future! you can do this swap for yearssss on
Nice to see this can be done. Electric vehicles are relatively simple and should not be subject to gatekeeping by the manufacturer.
Great video! I love that you're branching out to other EV related content!
Thank you Lucas! We have had a lot of fun branching out as well :)
Its not only the range. it also upgrades the charging speed
Electric back yard mechanics finally coming little by little.
Yes Please!
Cool video but how is it in any way a DIY job?
This is awesome, keep em coming !
Thanks! Will do!
I wish we had a workshop like this in Australia. I would love to walk through a Tesla wrecking yard.
Nice job. Hope they stick around and improve their skills. We need companies like this around.
awesome video! how much did this service cost? this is critical for all of us to know since our Tesla will eventually age and need a replacement
Is it possible to swap small rear induction motor with a Permanent magnet motor?

How did the charging speed on the supercharger change?
I hoped that You will show some snippets of the programming procedure :( There are geeks watching Your videos who like to see a little code too :P
I’ll keep this in mind for the next video! I wasn’t aware people could be as nerdy as me 🥸
@AIAddict yes, please do another video detailing the programming procedure for us DYI needs. Thanks so much! 👍
It would have been nice to see how you disconnected the HV battery pack from the car before lowering the pack from under the Model X
Wish we had a shop like this in the NorthEast :(
You kinda do, lookup Electrified Garage. They should be in the New England region. They often work with UA-camr: Rich Rebuilds
Great information. I wonder if i can replace MY2022 LR with newest batteries 2024 to get more range?
How much more range do you think you could get ?
"we'll let them explain the problems" [just reads the problems] would have been cool to see the process of fixing those issues, even at a higher level. This video wasn't as interesting as it could have been.
The vehicle programming process was conducted by plugging a cord into a laptop. It really wasn't that entertaining of a process. Took a few minutes

one question if you are going through the hassle of replacing a battery why not put in a 100 or something modified to give even better range

What will be cost for a 75 KW model x to 100 KW battery.
Know any places that can upgrade gen 1 with 2020 tech? Cans, auto pilot ?
Got the gears turning in my head. I have a 2013 S85 and access to a cheap lower mileage 90kwh pack....
The 90kw battery is 400v while the 75kw is 350v. The charger, and motor controllers also have to be changed.

I have a 2013 model s 40kw , how much do you charge for battery swap?
The company who do this where are they located?
75 to 90 is an easy swap, try to install 100 battery in 75, that would be challenge.
How did you reprogram the Tesla to say 90d instead of 75d?
The shop won’t allow us to comment on specifics to protect them :/ but all it required was a laptop, a cable and 10 minutes of effort
They rented the Tesla software
This was a pretty simple process tbh
When upgrading the battery does it require new programming?
Yes
