Dear Björn, this video series about affordable battery repair could be one of the most valuable ones you ever made. Can't thank you enough for your contribution to the EV community. Keep on rolling! Liebe Grüße aus Salzburg von Julius, Energieberatung
Nassir is the man! I always enjoy seeing his knowledgeable and professional approach to auto repair. EV Hub appears to be just what EV drivers need when their cars get older and out of warranty. Tesla’s approach to completely replace battery packs is good to have available, but it is also necessary to have third party service options for less expensive repairs. Kudos to Nassir for providing this option to EV drivers in Norway.
Very Intresting to see that there is a upcoming business with talented guys like Nasir, where repair batteries before replacing. A new (repaired) battery in a EV is almost like having a new car. Also overhauling an electric motor is possible and cheaper than replacing. I wish Nasirs garage successful years and expansion, maybe he will open a garage here in Germany ;)
Considering the latest govern debates to ditch petrol & diesel in favor of BEV no doubt such service-shop, business center should flourish, expand & multiply world-wide..
I read somewhere that if the modules of EV battery can not be fixed then good ones can be taken out and re-purposed to store energy few more years (until they last) packed in different sizes to a green-house, garage or to store energy in modules from a solar roof panels or solar power trailer or to power different other electric tools & consumers and even by the end of the cycles the modules can still be send to be properly recycled dismantle in specialized centers that collect electric components sort all components out the metals goes separately from chemical stuff to the smelter and rest stuff to be recycled & re-used.. (or at least this is the basic notions of how it should be)..
@@poplaurentiu4148 That will definitely work. If I understood it correctly, in this case one cell (or group of cells) is defective causing the pack to not properly function anymore, I hope to see in part 2 that they replace this cell 9or group of cells) and then have basically revitalised the battery-pack, where otherwise a complete new battery-pack would have been used. I think that is good news, maybe we even get battery-rejuvenation by refreshing the batteries by properly balance all functional cells and then have again a very good and balanced battery-pack...that's why I am so enthusiastic about this...hope that my enthusiasm is still there after video #2
In the UK we have HEVRA which provides training and information on electric vehicle repair for garages. Dealer repairs are so expensive that it creates a market for component level repair. On iMiev/ion/c-zero a chip in the BMS can fail. Part costs £0.20p. Dealer can only replace the battery circa £10'000. HEVRA garage can replace the chip. Cost a few hours labour.
NO way, Nassir does batteries now , too :) This is truly revolutionary, finally after market repair for EVs. Nassir fan club member 00000001 , from Las Vegas:)
I'm picking up the old i3 from the BMW doctor (OEM) on Friday. The price they are charging for out of warranty work tells me they need competition. So happy to see someone embarking on building up a competing organization in the EV industry! I truly belive you have a solid business case! All the best of luck, and keep on doing what you are doing!
Nice. I'm glad to see Nasir's shop moving more and more forward towards EV. Probably end of this decade fossils in Norway are gonna be a rare species. :)))
Love these videos. Great for people who have older EVs. Lots of value to be had still 😁 I love when solutions for older vehicles can be solved without selling a kidney. 😊
Always great to see Nassir! Impressive professionalism and enthusiasm. Also, this series is super-interesting, really important new industry is emerging in the space of fixing and servicing used EV's and batteries. The environmental impact of EV's is largely determined in how well that part of their life cycle is working. Thanks Björn for making these videos!
There is a Tesla manual how to safely disassemble the HV battery? I hope these type of services comming to my country (Australia) soon. Excellent stuff, thanks Bjørn.
not trained on highvoltage cars but from car-mechatronic i know alot of things about it. It would be amazing to have such a service in every country at least once. Germany maby 3 or 4 places, switzerland 1 would be enough. austria 2 and so on sad that tesla only does complete battery swap instead of repair the defective module.
The ZF bus drive unit is also used by the Mercedes eCitaro bus, (with solid state batteries). Note that there is no axle between the hubs, so the floor of the bus can be below the center to the wheels. I would definitely be interested in a video of a Monroe style breakdown of that drive unit.
This will be a very interesting series. Thumbs up. Fingers crossed that the 1.9v is a faulty bms reading which should be an easier fix than if this is a single partly shorted cell that is draining the cell group. Which are the absolute max values for cut off voltage on these (Panasonic) cells.? Normally a cut off of 2.5v is advertised I think, but which is the brick voltages where it is unsafe to recharge ever? Reminds me that I should get a diagnostics cable to read out my aging MS before it is too late. Thanks for the interesting series. Looking forward to some detailed dismantling and reassembly. Was module 9 the one in the bulge of the pack, so it may be easier to get to?
Re: 4680 Ramp Up. Remember, the Road Runner plant on Kato Road started spinning 4680s in May 2020. Getting to mini-gun speeds with high yields (imagine how many tons of ‘blems’ ended up priming Redwood’s lines) took about another 12 mo & building the 4680 machine-building machines & exporting those designs to Giga-factories, Panasonic, CATL, & Samsung, another 18 mo. We ain’t seen nuth’n, yet! Can’t wait until surplus 4680s become available to us tinkerers for use in our “projects”!
Fortunately at least in Finland you can go full diy on any motor vehicle HV components regardless of the voltage! Hope it lasts! I like my car with 2000kV system (higher than any high voltage transmission line). Makes the drive nice and quiet too lol!
Curious to see how they repair the pack the replacement module will hav to have a similar impedance to the existing ones or it won't last. Would be nice to see after market new packs but I don't know if it make financial sense to develop the product for such a low volume of cars.
How much does average battery repair cost?Impressive proffessional shop, pple. Why do tesla, other manufacturers not do this? Right to cautious, one battery fire cld take out entire shop.
2 years later, when enquiring about battery repair, the only option offered was 120ooo NOK (equal to ~11ooo€) with battery replacement, no repair offered or any other option and the car was still riding. advertised 40 or 80k NOK mention here is false information.. It would be great if Brjørn would follow an actual repair with a private individual (not disclosing to EV Hub or others that it is him).
My Smart EQ is nearly four years old and is now on it's third 12V battery and it's third HV battery. Mercedes have not changed any management or running components Just Batteries. They don't admit it has an underlying issue so will not make any effort to fix it
On and off, people claim there is cheaper battery solution…. but a bit like iphone, eventually there isn’t cheap battery replacement…even it does…the cost would be similar. To a point, if you spend half the standard cost to try, you’ll lost that amount plus handling cost to pull that battery out.
worst case one swaps the failed module ? ok it may be less optimized but way cheaper than 15k for a Tesla replacement which may neither be new. Its also fodder for the never ending claims in pubs and bars (Stammtischparolen) that one needs to discard the complete car as soon as the battery is down.

Hei Nassir, when we use 1000v gloves we use another pair of work gloves on top of them to not damage them on sharp edges. From a norwegian electrician

Seeing this from Bosch and not from Uncle Rich is groundbreaking stuff. Thanks for your work.
This type of Business will be important in future. 👍

Amazing stuff! Nassir; Great idea and I hope you will have a lot of broken cars to repair successfully 👌🏼
Considering the latest govern debates to ditch petrol & diesel in favor of BEV no doubt such service-shop, business center should flourish, expand & multiply world-wide..
Good work, I really am curious to learn how the battery is repaired and what will be the cost, this will be great news to extend the life of BEV's!!!

Great video. Thank you Björn.
The EV community needs more like this.

The ev community needs more and deeper in my opinion to get a robust network .
Thank you for boosting the ev-adoption Björn!

Love that they allow us to come and watch some of the work they do. Thank YOU!
This is impressive, promising, and great for EV adoption. I wish him luck.
Nice. I'm glad to see Nasir's shop moving more and more forward towards EV. Probably end of this decade fossils in Norway are gonna be a rare species. :)))
Wow! Brilliant! Nassir For The Win!
He is trailblazing a whole new industry sector & I wish him all the best of luck in his new venture 🙂
I would like to see more people with skills and pation to EVs like him in my country
Nassir is a top professional! Nice series of videos is coming.
Nassir, I'm from Italy, I think that in a very short time I'll meet you in Norvay. great job
Congratulations on the new adventure Nassir!
Always good to see Nassir he has a really positive and motivational spirit 👍
Really great to see this. Thank you for taking us behind the scenes.
Love these videos. Great for people who have older EVs. Lots of value to be had still 😁 I love when solutions for older vehicles can be solved without selling a kidney. 😊
This series is turning into a JerryRigEverything channel. I love it! :D
Interesting video, very good explanations. Thanks
Looking forward to viewing the rest of this series!

Would be interesting to see part 2, when it is to be expected Bjørn?
Yes! This is interesting. I really like when you also check degradations on the old cars.
Definitely need more shops like this.
Excellent stuff and work Nassir. Thanks Bjorn for making this video and sharing it👍

sad that tesla only does complete battery swap instead of repair the defective module.
yeah, its such a waste.
it could be made super easy, but i guess the point is to do the opposite.
This is such good work the guys are doing and such an interesting watch. Thanks Bjørn. 👍
Great tools and organization of tools and electrical supplies. Very professional shop.
The ZF bus drive unit is also used by the Mercedes eCitaro bus, (with solid state batteries). Note that there is no axle between the hubs, so the floor of the bus can be below the center to the wheels. I would definitely be interested in a video of a Monroe style breakdown of that drive unit.

Goodluck EvHUB💪
This is great stuff!
Now I don't have to drive my Tesla to the US to have the HV battery fixed.
Make Nassir Rebuilds a regular feature on your channel . I would love to see this stuff :)
This is really good stuff! Looking so much forward to see representation in DK as well👍👊👍👊
6:45 - You'll get cars that need 3rd party service before the warranty runs out - for example on salvage cars and the like.
I just love these repair videos! Go Bjørn and Nassir!
Bjørn you should pay a vissit to Grufman bil, they also do great Tesla repairs!
That is cool. We are working on safety equipment for those scenarios in our company and do a lot of tests.
Great video! Cant wait for part 2 👏
Great new stuff, thanks Björn 👍🏻
Thanks for the insights, very interesting.
Great video! Thanks for sharing!
I’ve read where replacing individual cells or even entire modules, isn’t a lasting fix: mismatch of old vs new cells. Is this true?
It is always problematic but can be worth it in some cases.
Great job, very interesting
Good on you Nassir! 👍😃
Interesting video! Can't wait for the next one ☺️!
Very interesting report. How many kilometers on the odo for the white's one please ?

Haha… ZF is just „around the corner“ they are in Friedrichshafen in Germany on the other side of the Lake Constance.
Grz🇨🇭
Impressive ! Good luck with the repair! Cant wait for the next Videos 😊👍
Hopefully these garages will spring up Europe wide now there are older EVs on the road
Gratulerer til Nassir! Kan tenke meg han er stolt av å åpne eget EV-verksted :D
This is so interesting, Thanks Björn. Can't wait to see more in the future.
" at Tesla it was little bit expensive..." ))))
Very exciting!

Yet an other Tesla on studless winter tires in the summer.
Seen to many of them this summer.
Not only Tesla but other brands also.
Very interesting. Norway is 5 years ahead of the game compared to Canada.
Way more than 5 years ahead.

the 4680 battery pack can´t be repaired. Check Munro UA-cam on that.
You guys are a cool couple
Very curious if cutting off the wire on the single faulty cell will solve the problem...
Gruber Motors can cut off a single faulty cell: ua-cam.com/video/F-B_8oMZNeI/v-deo.html

Yes
hello, my car suddenly stoped driving too, i need the scanmyteslapro for a jac esei1 2020, can you help me?
Is there any software/programming necessary after module swap installation ? Or is it plug and play ?Please and thank you
President is here!
so cool. Nice to know.
4:45 - Basically HSE or health, safety and environment which is regulation that binds at least employers and often companies.
Very interesting! ⚡⚡⚡
Nice to see a major outfit doing battery work.
How much does average battery repair cost?Impressive proffessional shop, pple. Why do tesla, other manufacturers not do this? Right to cautious, one battery fire cld take out entire shop.
After how many miles did the battery fail?
I really wonder how its gonna be with a structural battery pack...
Bjorn on battery repair...gold dust
How much $ is a full battery replacement at Tesla?
Around 20 000 USD for a new. Around 12 -15 000 for a remanufacured
looks like out of warranty cars have extended life ... that the goal i like it
If you can find a leaf in a Tesla, can you find a tesla in a Leaf?
😂
how many kilometers cars ?

Nice
Most likely wont last long. Many people have tried the same thing it worked fine for up to a year and then eventually broke again.
8 years… why this is not covered by Tesla Warranty?
Because the car is older than 8 years...
feel good video hopefully happy ending
W baby
LOL, we are all "repairing" these Tesla modules.
