Same. Except I couldn't care less about the ones you mentioned with the exception of chainsaw man. I'm the villainess, spy x family, Uzaki-chan and chainsaw man are my weekly must sees. You can just tell when a studio gives a project their all for a single anime. Having a completely new ending after every episode is one thing, but every frame of the actual show looks so good and the fluidity of the animation is insane. CSM lived up to the hype and went even further.
@@lazyskt661 I’m sure it’ll get better. I’ve read the manga tho, as for the story it’s just kinda meh. I think the hype also made it seem like it’d be this stellar story
While I’ve been enjoying the highly anticipated shows like Spy x Family’s 2nd season and Chainsaw Man. Bocchi the rock just somehow connected with me in a way that it quickly became my top anime this season and has even entered my top anime list of all time. I wish people would stop comparing it to K-on so much cause it’s so much more than that. And I’m saying that as someone who loved K-on a lot. The production quality, the attention to details in the instruments and music, the lovable characters, the hilarious comedy and occasional gags like when Bocchi glitched out were some of the funniest scenes I’ve seen in a long time in anime. So I hope everyone gives it a chance cause it’s really just a good time and has a lot of relatable scenes for a lot of people.
The constant comparison to k-on is a disservice to both. So much talent, fun and great animation in both but they really aren’t very similar beyond the concept of cute girls in a band. Bocchi and k-on are both great for different reasons.
@@arha13 agreed. I do admit that I was one of those people that was going to watch bocchi anticipating it to be similar to k-on. But to my surprise it blew me away with how different it is and how the story is actually focusing on their growth as a band overall. But yeah I agree that we can appreciate the two shows for their own respective traits and strengths.
100% agreed. I’ve found myself looking forward to it more than mob psycho 100 season 3 each week… and if you told me that would happen for ANY show before this season started I would’ve called you a dirty liar. It’s just so lovingly made and gets me to crack up multiple times per episode
I’m surprised so many people are recommending this show. That’s crazy!!! That k-on comparison had me thinking it was nothing special. Wow. Now I have to watch it
I am SOOO glad blue lock is getting the recognition it deserves!! While it's really hard to replicate the amazing manga art style I appreciate how the anime makes some of the moments wayy too epic
Thanks just got back into anime after a 2 years hiatus and this video was pretty insightful i've browsed thru and seen how the scence changed since i was gone for the past hour or so and i can almost say this season is one of the best we've had in a very long time.
6:21: i don’t remember the video cutting so quickly…. The version a couple hours ago had more fluidity then now… something has changed and i can’t put my finger on it…
I'm glad Iruma-kun got a mention. The animation this season is so fluid and I can't stop listening to the op on repeat. It's shaping up to be the best season yet
Watching Iruma-kun and Chainsaw Man side by side is an interesting experience because I constantly compare the two protagonist's current lives with how similar their upbringing was and they both live in a world where demons/devils are heavily involved. Makes me wish Denji was adopted by Sullivan too...
Im so glad everyone here agrees on that bocchi the rock deserves more. Honestly i would say the animation is on par with chainsaw man i mean they have FREAKING CLAY STOP MOTION
@@GatsuRage nah, in reality, Bocchi animation it is THAT good, the levels of detail and creativity make full use of the series core strenghts and its team, not only just the switches in styles, but how each of these are in a really high quality, and even when its more orthodox, its in a really great way, just look at the character acting on ep5 with the nijika and bocchi scene, ep 6 street performance, etc, it makes full use of being animated in a good way, with expressions and gags that cant be replicater irl to put an example of some level of detail, in episode 3, when bocchi runs away from kita after trying to talk and failing, she rans through a hallway, the animation is so detailed that you can see bocchi running into the wall, KICK OFF the wall and with the same momentum move to the other side of the hallway while her legs are twisting into the cartoonish spiral run, it was such small detail that was not needed as it could been a simple spiral run from the start, yet they did anyway, and its like that through the entire series
Reincarnated as a sword is one of the OGs. Alongside Slime. Kumo desu and the others it's still post Mushoku though. But they're definitely the Isekais that got good LNs. The summary is amazing. I've been watching plenty of them, we really are eating good this season. Bocchi the rock probably might be another one of the very few anime that animate instrument playing correctly, I can say that for drums not sure about other instrument. The social anxiety part is also spot on and hilarious

Helps me feel just a bit better, as otherwise I feel even more depressed when ive realized how much ive missed. And i really miss being deep in the anime trenches lol
Bocchi the Rock has absolutely incredible animation in comedic scenes and the humour gets really, really harsh, but not mean to characters I mean psychosis and dam scenes actually broke me
@@itsnotzuraitskatsura5247 ehh, it's mostly personal preference. All of them (and you can add Nana to this bunch) focus on different things. I for once would say that Given was too melodramatic while K-on or Bocchi focus on music itself more than Nana or Beck (though Nana tackles the industry more, but K-on has characters actually learning the instruments and both it and Bocchi feature very awkward beginnings)
The animation is god damn good honestly. As someone who has played bass for more than a year now, the way they animate everything is quite grounded(though I'm not sure if it's 100% accurate since I didn't really scrutinize it much and I'm not the best at playing. But the way it flows is definitely really realistic). And all the changes in art style, the small movements, it's honestly beautiful. Just really enjoying the show right now, and I'm hoping more people pick it up
Bocchi barely even feels like it's about music most of the time. It's a masterful dissection of introversion itself, with some music along the way. I haven't seen K-on, but I feel like Bocchi is likely to be notably different in this way since people just seem to compare "girls making a band".
@@adamsoft7831 I feel Gigguk rushed this out. If he was paying more attention he'd know that Bocchi the Rock! has practically no similarities to K-On! besides it being about cute girls playing in a band together. K-On! is completely different, but if you like wholesome anime and music it is well worth checking out.
@@Zergonapal Thanks! I'll check it out. In Gigguk's defense, these are rarely full reviews. He normally only watches 1-3 before releasing these and they are more of a primer for the series at best. It's just weird here because it came out so late. That said, I feel like he basically just repeated what he said in his trailer reviews months ago on his other channel, so watching so few episodes seemingly didn't add much insight beyond what trailers said anyway.
I'm loving CSM, Spy x Family, and Golden Kamuy this season, but the one show that I've been enjoying the most so far has been Bocchi the Rock. It animates the instruments properly, it has genuinely good character development and relatable characters, it has amazing music, and its approach on comedy through its visuals is so good its on par with nichijou. I hope people stop calling it "another K-on spinoff" because its much more than that. Please give it a chance.

Can't be said enough, Bocchi the Rock is underated anime of this season. It has everything I expecting from anime. The visual style, good soundtrack, comedy and surprisingly can be serious when it needs to be.
Something tells me you haven't watched enough of Bocchi the Rock to make an validity observation. This series is amazing on many points, it's creative as hell, the animation jokes are top notch and the main character is really good.
Yea like I know it may not be his genre but the way he discussed the show felt half-hearted. I have to imagine it's one he watched at like 2x speed with low expectations. Didn't bring up the animation creativity, characterization or really anything specific, even kept saying "it looks good" like he asked for some opinions on it because he had none of his own.
You can say this about any current airing anime cause of that Mid anime called chainsaw man stealing all the hype. Like seriously, why is csm this talked about? Such an average story...at least so far. But yes bocchi is highly slept on compared to others right now
what is more is, the way he praised CSM, is pretty much fitting for bocchi too, the production on Bocchi is really unreal in how technical it is and still gives us some off the wall and crazy ideas and gags, and not only is it funny, but the story itself is really good with a nice mix of humor and development, any show that can make viewers emotional, hyped and then die laughing is great, and ep 5 of bocchi just shows that for an example, literally, first ep is the weakest by virtue of being the first ep, not because its bad or weak itself but because it starts good and gets better each ep
CSM is good, it’s got some pacing issues but it’s getting into its stride and it’s looking like it could live up to the likes of jujutsu kaisen and demon slayer but Bocchi is firing on all cylinders and just keeps getting better. It’s got so many subtle gags and on rewatch I find myself getting excited for the gags I know are coming because they’re so good and they don’t disappoint
I'm super happy with bleach. It looks amazing. Every episode feels like I'm watching a movie it's just too good. It's my second favorite of the big 3 and the fact that this arc is getting so much love makes me really happy.
"Bocchi the Rock!" is my AOTS, and a contender for AOTY, frankly. It has so much visual creativity and daring in a premise that makes anxiety both funny and incredibly human.
It's honestly crazy how stacked Fall 2022 has been. One of the most loaded seasons in many years. I'm watching more anime now than I have in a long time.
14:40 just from this few seconds, British dub is brilliant, can't stop laughing, we need British Dub of Urusei Yatsura, throw our normal English dub away
My favorite way of explaining bocchi is saying "is like K-on meets Nichijou". You can see that the people had as much fun working on it that we are having watching it. The production values for some of the gags is amazing. Definitely my pick for AotS.
I like how the season where we have Chainsawman, Bleach returning, Mob psycho III, Gundam Mercury and yet the best show for me so far has been Bocchi. Idk if Garnt just hasn't watched enough of the show yet or he's just rushing it as usual at x2 speed cause he doesn't have time, but its a shame it isn't highlighted as much in this video.
Bocchi definitely wins biggest surprise of the season. The material is good but what really elevates it is the anime execution, the team keeps doing weird experimental shit with it and I love it.
Honestly, on such a jam packed season, with big as hell names, the anime im constantly enjoying and waiting the most for each week, is Bocchi the Rock! and the craziest thing is, all the praise Gigguk said to CSM, is equally the same on Bocchi, the team and work they are doing with the series is something ive never seen on such a level before, the direction is so crazy that you can get crazy as hell ideas portrayed perfectly in such a setting that is "Girls making a band", and differently than K-on, it does explore more the aspect of the music industry and portrays it in a subtle way along with the series protagonist, where not only her, but her band members, are all relatable as hell, and also contrary to K-On, it develops more its characters, giving a sense of bocchi being an underdog you are rooting for to become less anxious, and when she makes progress, you can feel it, mixing great comedy and visual humor with equally good and touching scenes that make you yell cries of support or hype for bocchi the animation, scene composition, symbolism and juxtaposition usage, camera angles, live action props, refined and detailed scenes and movement, character acting, voice acting, everything is used to a really great degree that is insane, the director and the team come up with some super crazy ideas, that they simply go "why not?" and implement them and work themselves for them because they want to, honestly, some things like, making a zoetrope, making a pixelart sequence, making life real sequences, etc, arent "needed" but they do them anyway because they want to, the show is somehow, the most creative one this season in terms of production that i wouldnt feel weird if they had the voice actresses of the main band actually perform in live action for the final episode or make a gag with them in live action
Seeing Bleach come back with this level of animation, the sick OSTs and finally without unnecessary censorship is just so great. I spoiled myself a fair bit because I didn’t think we would ever get a continuation, but I still have so much fun watching!
Bibliophile Princess confused the s-it outta me and not in a good way. No Set-Up ever and constant Pay-Off made me constantly wonder if this is taking a P-ss on Noob-Writers or if this really is a Noob.
@@loturzelrestaurant i don’t have Hi-dive so i can’t even watch that one. Whixh is a shame since Hi-dive has been getting better shows lately, but still sucks when it comes to the app
I feel Gigguk undersold Bocchi. It has surprisingly become my undisputed AotS because it just doesn't seem to know how to miss with it's comedy and extremely creative and unconventional animation. Also the eponymous Bocchi is just a constant mood and I feel like any introvert will be able to relate to her in a spiritual level while also receiving psychological damage at every turn. The rest of the cast are also very strong: Ryo the quiet bassist is just a riot, Nijika the drummer is a literal angel and Kita the vocalist is just okay, I feel like we just need a bit more time with her. A very creative, very funny, very good show 11/10
Bocchi the Rock is the sleeper hit of this season although in the last few weeks people have been taking notice of it! Hopefully more people give it a try
I've been following it since episode 3 and it's lovelly how it get more and more appreciated every week. I can see it becoming a comedy classic like Nichijou in the future, but the drama is algo great. Anime of the year so far for me.
So far, with the hype it's given Bleach TYBW is my anime of the year so far. The level of animation and mind-blowing story that came out of this new anime is unmatched for me. MHA has been amazing g so far too and with the way that war arc had been going, I can't wait to see what happens next. I do believe that Bocchi the rock is the most underrated show this season. Bocchi is probably one of the most relatable anime characters I've seen and the amount of hilarity that comes out of that show has been amazing. Spy x family has been pretty good so far and of course, eminence in shadow has been a beautiful gem to come out this season. Mob had been epic too. Man, this anime season is just amazing huh.
When the captain pulled out all the stops I shitted my shorts, creamed my jeans, pissed my pants, sweated in my sweater, vomited down my V-neck, drooled on my drawers, spat on my spats, slobbered on my slacks, came on my corduroy, pooped my plaid kilt, sopped my socks, oozed in my shoes, jizzed on my jacket, farted on my carpet, etc.
The production value of Bleach is insane so far. It feels like Ufotable level pretty every episode. Can't wait to see Mob ep8 ends up doing with its supposed 20,000 frames or whatever craziness they've said
That ending just made me realise that Gigguk might have put more thought into anime dragons than anyone on this earth. Now i want to see a 'dragons in anime' tier list
Your videos are always great to watch. I fell off anime pretty hard after being super into it in the 2000s, and these nutshell videos make me want to dive back in to see what I've been missing out on all this time!
It's been so long since I have been as excited for a show as Blue Lock, seriously recommend checking it out If you liked Kuroko/Haikyuu basically any similar sports show it's just as amazing

@@dragonfinn Same actually. Expected half way between yuru camp and k-on but bocchi has such a strong identity which really surprised me.

Thanks just got back into anime after a 2 years hiatus and this video was pretty insightful i've browsed thru and seen how the scence changed since i was gone for the past hour or so and i can almost say this season is one of the best we've had in a very long time.
I'm currently on a 4 year hiatus, do I take the red pill?
6:21: i don’t remember the video cutting so quickly…. The version a couple hours ago had more fluidity then now… something has changed and i can’t put my finger on it…
it got copy-striked probably :(
I really hope they change it back to the original but without visuals or just different visuals cause he cuts out an entire section
I'm glad Iruma-kun got a mention. The animation this season is so fluid and I can't stop listening to the op on repeat. It's shaping up to be the best season yet
I couldn't get past S2 :/
Watching Iruma-kun and Chainsaw Man side by side is an interesting experience because I constantly compare the two protagonist's current lives with how similar their upbringing was and they both live in a world where demons/devils are heavily involved. Makes me wish Denji was adopted by Sullivan too...
Iruma kinda pisses me off

For a second I thought you were talking about that dragon with the stop motion
I wouldn't go that far.. is good but not THAT good c'mon now lol.
Remember that meltdowns lasting longer than commercial breaks may lead to Nausicca memes
And Peanuts! And a spinny thingy!! Genius!
@@GatsuRage nah, in reality, Bocchi animation it is THAT good, the levels of detail and creativity make full use of the series core strenghts and its team, not only just the switches in styles, but how each of these are in a really high quality, and even when its more orthodox, its in a really great way, just look at the character acting on ep5 with the nijika and bocchi scene, ep 6 street performance, etc, it makes full use of being animated in a good way, with expressions and gags that cant be replicater irl
to put an example of some level of detail, in episode 3, when bocchi runs away from kita after trying to talk and failing, she rans through a hallway, the animation is so detailed that you can see bocchi running into the wall, KICK OFF the wall and with the same momentum move to the other side of the hallway while her legs are twisting into the cartoonish spiral run, it was such small detail that was not needed as it could been a simple spiral run from the start, yet they did anyway, and its like that through the entire series
The British English at 14:20 had me howling!😆
Reincarnated as a Sword is surprisingly wholesome as well as being fun to watch. Need more episodes!
Reincarnated as a sword is one of the OGs. Alongside Slime. Kumo desu and the others it's still post Mushoku though. But they're definitely the Isekais that got good LNs. That means that Gigguk is wrong the slavery thing was instantly destroyed by most Isekais in the past. Most of these Slave Isekais are newer.
@@michaelvalentinoyo1259 Absolutely love mushoku tensei and Slime. Aa for the slavery trope, that does seem to be a more recent thing and I think that's what he's poking fun at. Obviously can't say for certain cause I'm not gigguk and I've only watched what I've watched. That said, Mushoku, Slime, and so far reincarnated as a sword are fantastic takes on the genre.
as someone who have painfully read the novel like half a year ago and then stop, and now I can't remember which chapter I stopped on.
Yes Sword Isekai is fucking badass, the fight scenes, the revelations, the usual bullshit, but most importantly, the sword MC can transform into a Great wolf of Steel and Hatred, kinda like the Berserker Armor in aesthetic.

Bocchi the rock probably might be another one of the very few anime that animate instrument playing correctly, I can say that for drums not sure about other instrument. The social anxiety part is also spot on and hilarious
Guitar is pretty damn accurate too, though the CG they use to pull off the bigger scenes of instrument animation looks awkward

@@itsnotzuraitskatsura5247 better than K-on
@@itsnotzuraitskatsura5247 is it objectively mid or are you just not a fan of it?
@@itsnotzuraitskatsura5247 ehh, it's mostly personal preference. All of them (and you can add Nana to this bunch) focus on different things. I for once would say that Given was too melodramatic while K-on or Bocchi focus on music itself more than Nana or Beck (though Nana tackles the industry more, but K-on has characters actually learning the instruments and both it and Bocchi feature very awkward beginnings)
Bocchi The Rock has parts that are straight up live-action and visual effects for the gags which is an amazing effort by the staff.
I always like to think bocchi as K-on with no tea time with beck vibes. Also never forget the gumball vibes.

But yes bocchi is highly slept on compared to others right now
@@bakailfrozen1944 fr jujutsu slayer man is getting all the hype and its unfair
what is more is, the way he praised CSM, is pretty much fitting for bocchi too, the production on Bocchi is really unreal in how technical it is and still gives us some off the wall and crazy ideas and gags, and not only is it funny, but the story itself is really good with a nice mix of humor and development, any show that can make viewers emotional, hyped and then die laughing is great, and ep 5 of bocchi just shows that for an example, literally, first ep is the weakest by virtue of being the first ep, not because its bad or weak itself but because it starts good and gets better each ep

Bocchi definitely wins biggest surprise of the season. The material is good but what really elevates it is the anime execution, the team keeps doing weird experimental shit with it and I love it.
Honestly, on such a jam packed season, with big as hell names, the anime im constantly enjoying and waiting the most for each week, is Bocchi the Rock! and the craziest thing is, all the praise Gigguk said to CSM, is equally the same on Bocchi, the team and work they are doing with the series is something ive never seen on such a level before, the direction is so crazy that you can get crazy as hell ideas portrayed perfectly in such a setting that is "Girls making a band", and differently than K-on, it does explore more the aspect of the music industry and portrays it in a subtle way along with the series protagonist, where not only her, but her band members, are all relatable as hell, and also contrary to K-On, it develops more its characters, giving a sense of bocchi being an underdog you are rooting for to become less anxious, and when she makes progress, you can feel it, mixing great comedy and visual humor with equally good and touching scenes that make you yell cries of support or hype for bocchi
the animation, scene composition, symbolism and juxtaposition usage, camera angles, live action props, refined and detailed scenes and movement, character acting, voice acting, everything is used to a really great degree that is insane, the director and the team come up with some super crazy ideas, that they simply go "why not?" and implement them and work themselves for them because they want to, honestly, some things like, making a zoetrope, making a pixelart sequence, making life real sequences, etc, arent "needed" but they do them anyway because they want to, the show is somehow, the most creative one this season in terms of production that i wouldnt feel weird if they had the voice actresses of the main band actually perform in live action for the final episode or make a gag with them in live action

Bleach gonna be anime of the year baby
@@jamessilonga9795 it already is with episode 6
When the captain pulled out all the stops I shitted my shorts, creamed my jeans, pissed my pants, sweated in my sweater, vomited down my V-neck, drooled on my drawers, spat on my spats, slobbered on my slacks, came on my corduroy, pooped my plaid kilt, sopped my socks, oozed in my shoes, jizzed on my jacket, farted on my carpet, etc.
@@collinbeal bro 💀
The production value of Bleach is insane so far. It feels like Ufotable level pretty every episode. Can't wait to see Mob ep8 ends up doing with its supposed 20,000 frames or whatever craziness they've said
"So baby now u feel like number 1 shining bright for everyone"🔥🔥🔥🔥best ost ever
That ending just made me realise that Gigguk might have put more thought into anime dragons than anyone on this earth. Now i want to see a 'dragons in anime' tier list
10:38 if you are someone who actually needs this to be explained to you, you should probably go outside read at the library right now 💀
I thought Garnt was goin to talk more about Bocchi, this anime is just amazing in every aspect
Your videos are always great to watch. I fell off anime pretty hard after being super into it in the 2000s, and these nutshell videos make me want to dive back in to see what I've been missing out on all this time!
3:52 i didnt know he did ITS ENOUGH SLICES

It's been so long since I have been as excited for a show as Blue Lock, seriously recommend checking it out
If you liked Kuroko/Haikyuu basically any similar sports show it's just as amazing
What a stacked season. Everyday has something good to watch and look forward to
I absolutely love do it yourself. Such a comfy show
Bocchi is probably my favorite of the season personally. I just love how it gets more and more relatable.
As someone who’s been looking forward to Uzaki season-2, that absolute shade made me actually laugh out loud
Uzaki and Fuufu Ijou are the reasons I can bear my weekends
Honestly like it more than 80% of most series. Probably one of the funniest RomCom sequels I've seen in a moment. Also love you Gig but kinda based decision leaving it out.
Such a good season for anime. Like I haven't had this much fun watching anime since middle school. Been loving Bocchi and Chainsaw Man
“This guy is isekai Haruhi.” How have I never made this connection. Mind blown.
