  • Do you have what it takes to become a Coast Guard Aviation Survival Technician/Rescue Swimmer?
    If you meet all the physical fitness standards displayed in the video (also listed below), you can qualify for the Coast Guard’s civilian-to-AST/Rescue Swimmer program, currently known as ANNEX-X.
    The following are the MINIMUM fitness requirements to qualify for the program.
    1.) Push-ups - 40 within 2 minutes
    2.) Sit-ups - 40 within 2-minutes
    3.) Side Plank - 30 seconds
    4.) Pull-ups (full extension) - 3 consecutive within 1 minute
    5.) Run - 1.5 miles within 12 minutes
    6.) Swim - 450 meter or 500 yard swim within 12 minutes
    All of the qualifiers are completed consecutively and are based on strict body positioning and exacting details, so ask your recruiter for a detailed Physical Fitness Assessment sheet.
    You will be tested at the start of basic training by an active duty AST.
    It is a pass/fail test, so bring your ‘A’ game.

      You could do it. Never fucking ever let someone say what u can or cant do. Everyone can some just have to go harder then others to get to the spot. However the ppl who have it harder learn more on the way… trust me😂

      Keep going man. When I wanted to join the coast guard I had bad scores on practice tests, was over weight,cand couldn't do 10 push ups or run half a mile. Studied hard for 2 months. worked hard and since then I have passed the asvab along with boot camp. I even have been going to airstation astoria to train with ASTs while I wait for my flight physical and to get my name on the list. Im fortunate to have a command that supports me going this rate. I still have a long way to go but i dont intend on stoping. Keep working and you can make it 💪

      @FireSidePhoenix 2 роки тому +1

      @@jimmyhernadez6185 currently the wait time is a 12 to 15 months not including the time it takes to do a flight physical. When getting to a new unit you will have to either spend 4 months their before you can put your name on a list or be a fully qualified member at what ever unit you go to

    After AST school (and all of the other qualifications - post AST school) are you ever assigned to a permanent station? Or will you move stations every 3-4 years?

    • @gabesbad
      @gabesbad Рік тому +1

      You always transfer every 4 or so years. sometimes you can get an extension for 1 or 2 year but eventually you transfer.

    i was told that the qualifications are different in order to qualify for annex x. (1.5mi in 12 minutes, 50 push-ups, 60 sit-ups, 15 pull-ups, 15 chin-ups, 500 yard swim in 8 minutes) is this the pt test once you already qualify, or does it vary for different recruits?

    I have a question: How do you count the push-ups in the Coast Guard during boot camp?
    Is it 01, 02, 03, counting up to 40? or is it just *up, down*?
    or you count to 10 and then again always to 10?
    Just curious 😅

    • @brysongreen4969
      @brysongreen4969 6 місяців тому +1

      You don’t count you just do the pushups and sit ups. A CC or instructor will count them for you

    • @SlapCaptain
