I watched these guys for hours jumping into 35 degree water 10 degrees out vapor flying NE wind 25 5 foot chop. And u could tell it was just another day and having a blast doing it
I'm on a local small fire department in northern Michigan and new years at 12:00 am we called air station traverse To help get a guy that went through the ice on a snowmobile it was awesome watching them work
I've been out with them here in LA for a ride along for a news story, dropping a rescue swimmer into the Pacific. I've also been aboard on scuba diving charter boats when the Coasties were called into copter in to pick up a diver for the bends. In those cases they drop down a rescue basket for us to assist the diver into.
MSRT, HITRON, Precision Marksman Snipers and Rescue Swimmers( ASTs). Damn, The United States Coast Guard ( Department of Homeland Security) is getting way more High Speed, Hard Core, Low Drag. SEMPER PARATUS SUPERINTENSIFIED!!🇺🇸🦅🗽🛡️⚓
It’s back for another season and this series is the most plane awesome and amazing series I have ever watched! And Matthew your also a plane awesome host for the series!!
@@thegreatdogzilla5855 they offer it for certain jobs. AST is critical so they offer a direct program that will help people succeed but they have others as well like OS that come with a money bonus
Where is the aviation part of this story? Kinda disappointed that being an aviation show that you didn't talk about any of the aircraft that the Coast Guard has.......
The 2 helicopters used are the Shirosky SH60(MH60 now) "Jayhawk" variant spwcificaly used by the USCG. Has the longest range of any of the blackhawk family choppers. The second one is the MH65 "dolphin" made by eurocopter for more medium range rescues and tactical missions. Both variants are designed for multimission capabilites as the USCG has been changing more to that for a more flexible heli for anti terror and homeland security. Thr USCG also operates recuse variants of the C130 hercules (HC130), HC27J spartan, and the HC144 Ocean Sentry. All are used for various roles to help rescue people in distress and provide homeland security. The Ocean Sentry is while not currwntly carrying the capable equipment can be installed to handle Anti Ship Weaopns.

Missed an important question... “how does the helicopter take off under the weight of their enormous balls?”.

Chastity Hollingsworth I can relate!
To hear a random story about Manasquan Inlet, where I grew up... I had the clearest mental picture of what AST3 Arrison was talking about!
I live right near there lol
@@robjohnson3747 I grew up in Point Boro and left in 1995 for the OTHER Canoe Club.
Time to ramp up my training
Behind the wings is back!

Matt is the kindest guy i have been waiting so long for more vids! U guys are soo the best
Thinking of doing rescue swimmer or ME before I go to meps
@@DakotaMilesO i didn't know they offered those secure job contracts.

@@booker9153 That's weird because i read and heard ast are over staffed and there is no spots. I also never found any info on those secured contracts.
@@thegreatdogzilla5855 that's definitely not the case. The school is really difficult and not many pass which is why they're critically manned
Try to get to Maine for your station. Just like Alaska but never mentioned what these boys go through up here and it’s rival with Alaska
Great video worth the wait
I’m so glad that you opted for a new jingle. Love the content 👍
