  • This is part ONE of what was a magical night for me (for PART TWO, hit • Buddy Rich "In A Mello... ). It was the 6th of March, 1982 and unannounced, TWO of my FIVE ALL-TIME HEROES appeared on Parky - Buddy Rich and Kenny Everett (they'd never have met any OTHER way!)
Also there, were Roy Castle and a surprise guest. This was a SHOW. Almost a full hour. No sidekick. No desk. And all of the guests STAYED after their initial interviews. Buddy did THREE numbers and then... well, you'll have to watch it to see!
You need to see ALL SEVEN pieces, IN ORDER. Now, put your computer onto FULLSCREEN and enjoy!

The passing of 'Kenny Everett' was as hard hitting as the passing of 'Rik Mayell'.
My Dad hated us watching this show when we were kids. I got caught by my next door neighbours Mum, who walked in the room with me and a friend. I was sat in her swivel chair spinning around holding two ornaments from her fire mantle place (hands holding balls), swinging my legs over saying "It's all done in the best possible taste".

On BBC Radio 4 just now ( 24 July 2012 ) a disc jockey apparently of renown called Christian O Connell , just said ( and not in his opinion) something to this effect “ Steve Wright was the first DJ on British radio whom was irrelevant and sarcastic and had hilarious characters “ . He was speaking of his influences in the 1980s which is fair enough but for someone of his apparent experience in this country, I find his statement not only to be misinformed but bloody bollocks and untrue. With respect to Steve Wright , Everett was around years before and wasn’t half as sanitised as Kenny and as far as I’m aware , has never outraged or been sacked then re- employed by anyone. There’s no comparison. It’s like equating Robin Williams with Micheal Macintyre. Ken was a pathfinder for guys like Adrian Juste and Steve Wright. Young folk it’s a fact . 🏴❤️

I tuned into 'This Morning',(yeah,I know, sad),& Katherine Kelly, formerly of Coronation St. was talking about a docu-film in which she plays Lee,Kenny's wife which is supposed to be on tv tonight but for the life of me I couldn't find it.Kenny was the master of his craft. From Gizzard Puke to Cupid Stunt & all the characters inbetween he made your ribs ache.I had the pleasure of meeting him once, just for a few minutes, but it's one thing I'll always remember. He was a joy.

Kenny is great, but Michael Parkinson is deeply underrated in this. Not a comedian, but he's a great straight man and has good comic timing.

I think Michael Parkinson is funny also. Just typical Yorkshire strait guy hahahaha. I love when he says "that's awful" and his timing.

I remember Kenny and thought he was hilarious, but I just think it was because he was a different type of drag act. He came along at the same time as Benny hill an the carry on films, no one cares if a guy acted camp or a woman acted butch. I've never cared about "different people" in fact it made us care less in the 80's or 90's....now everything is political and how people feel rather than it be just as it was, were all the fucking same!!!!
