Sammy was such a gentleman. His conscious effort to include kenny every time he mentioned the other two friends shows his incredible emotional intelligence and humility. The man is a giant in so many ways.
What a superb gathering especially with dear Roy Castle, one of this country's all-time talents cut short through the big C at a very early age. Kenny, a riot and, again, afflicted too soon and what can you say about the great Sammy and the incredible Buddy. We've sure lost some amazing talent.
Thank you so much for taking the time to rip this from VHS and upload it, superb line up and every one of them looked like they were having a great time.
Sammy Davis had all the talent, and he was a class act. Bless his memory. Thanks for posting this. Roy was too modest, but being credited by SDJ was meaningful.
You probably dont give a shit but if you're bored like me atm then you can watch all of the new movies and series on instaflixxer. I've been watching with my gf lately =)
"and hopefully make a new one." That was so classy of Sammy, it would have been easy for Kenny to feel like the odd one out in this lineup, but Sammy made sure to include him!
Sammy takes so many liberties with the time signature (which is what makes him great), hats off to the pianist to follow him. My favorite song by Sammy with Buddy is The Witch Is Dead from an album they recorded live in Vegas at, like, 4am. Just super.
I was waiting for Roy to join in the band. I think the floor manager messed up the timing. The true endearing moment, was SDJ putting his hand on Michael's leg when he gave sincere thanks for being looked after for the show. That is such statement of a true heart warming personality. God bless them all.
I loved sammy, have just about every album he made plus books, but am still pissed he wouldn't give up smoking even while singing and Sinatra telling him not to until it was to late.r.i.p.sammy.
Its crazy how people mention martin luther king in history but dont mention sammy.if u read sammy book u a know that sammy did more then martin luther king.sammy the man.im only 26 but this man inspired me alot
For f***s sake Kenny Everett, Sammy Davis Jr and a mention of Lionel Blair, not to mention Buddy R and Roy Castle on the same bill!! This is dream making stuff!!
@63Brummie - Yeah. You rarely knew who was going to be on Parky's show until the NIGHT. So it blew my mind when TWO of my five greatest heroes (Kenny and Buddy) were on the SAME SHOW (and you'd never expect THOSE two to ever MEET!) And I quite liked Roy as well - then SAMMY walked out!! HELL of a show! Was a pure fluke I'd taped it, too. Oh - Dudley Moore, Burt Bacharach and John Barry, in case you were wondering...
My friend Lee Musiker is on the piano.BTW, I don't know if Buddy knew that Sammy Davis was coming on the show or not but the producers certainly knew - his musical number is clearly rehearsed -( bass player is reading music!)! Fake spontaneity!
There are gods that walk, and have walked, this earth as man. This clip shows the giants that have been and sadly gone. Even more sadly, when I look at todays excuses for talent, it would appear that we will never see their likes again. AD INFERNO
*So much incredible talent in one room!*
Sammy was such a gentleman. His conscious effort to include kenny every time he mentioned the other two friends shows his incredible emotional intelligence and humility. The man is a giant in so many ways.
No one like him before or since IMHO...
Times like these will never be replicated or beaten.pure class ..................
I'm so glad this was recorded.
@@63Baggies Me to!
what about Tynchy stryder and MC Bongo B ...? are they not just as good ... ?
Roy Castle... Legend!
His tone was underrated. Roy Castle could play.....
Crackerjack 💙🏴💙🏴👍
When you consider how extrovert Kenny, you have to admire his total professionalism for the fact he was in the presence of legends. Beautiful
Kenny was a shy person in real life.
I thought the other three did very well in the presence of the one true legend.
Every clip I see of SDJ he just oozes class and charm. What a great dude he really was
Talk shows just aren't the same anymore....this is just perfect
What a superb gathering especially with dear Roy Castle, one of this country's all-time talents cut short through the big C at a very early age. Kenny, a riot and, again, afflicted too soon and what can you say about the great Sammy and the incredible Buddy. We've sure lost some amazing talent.
This a nice treat I’ve just stumbled across. Good to hear Roy Castle play. One of the good ones from our seventies childhood’s.
How good was Kenny. One of my favourite entertainers growing up.
We will never see talent like this again.
RIP 4 superb entertainers.
This is entertainment!!! So much more fun than anything on tv...or telly today.

Thank you so much for taking the time to rip this from VHS and upload it, superb line up and every one of them looked like they were having a great time.
WOW
Incredible interview with some genuine superstars.
From a 71 yo Aussie fan.
Sammy Davis had all the talent, and he was a class act. Bless his memory. Thanks for posting this. Roy was too modest, but being credited by SDJ was meaningful.
All but Parky is gone.. wow... we're so lucky to have access to clips such as these...
You probably dont give a shit but if you're bored like me atm then you can watch all of the new movies and series on instaflixxer. I've been watching with my gf lately =)
@Titus Ariel yup, have been using instaflixxer for since december myself :)
Thank you Michael Parkinson for hosting great entertainment. Class acts.
Sammy, how much l miss you, there is no one to touch you all these years later.
RIP Sammy and the lovely
Roy Castle.
How you are all still missed.x
For those who may not know that Sammy and Buddy recorded an INCREDIBLE live concert at the Sands in 1966 and it is dynamite!
Is that the recording that includes "Come Back to Me" ? amazing, fast, incredible.
Great guy, Sammy Davis. Greatly missed.
"and hopefully make a new one." That was so classy of Sammy, it would have been easy for Kenny to feel like the odd one out in this lineup, but Sammy made sure to include him!
That spoke to Sammy Davis Jr the Man over and above the professional
Man I love watching absolute legends at work.
You can wait million year's you will not see talents like Sammy and Buddy again.
I forgot what a star and absolute gentleman Sammy was, pure unadulterated class.
Sammy is pure class : )
What an incredible line up.....all RIP xx
Sammy takes so many liberties with the time signature (which is what makes him great), hats off to the pianist to follow him.
My favorite song by Sammy with Buddy is The Witch Is Dead from an album they recorded live in Vegas at, like, 4am. Just super.
Thank you so much for this, pure and utter magic from start to finish. I remember watching this episode when it was first broadcast!
that's four lights we lost, but their galaxies burn bright for time to see
All The Greats Together.. This Is Truly Timeless 👏👏👏
The piano accompaniment is gold plated in the song section ...when you listen a couple of times.....really first class!....
Sammy Davis Legend that is all.
Miss these guys. Got to see Buddy in the early eighties, but at the time I was too young to know what greatness I was witnessing.
This is talent and stardom.
What a respectful man. Incredible.
Pure Talent And So Much Empathy From These Legends. Sammy Is Certainly One Of The Top FIVE Entertainers Of The 20th Century.
Sammy and Buddy, true legends. Throw in a bit of Roy and that makes a great line-up for a chat show. Great!!!!
can sing, can dance, can play a mean drums. what a badass.
CLASS CLASS CLASS CLASS.GOD BLESS YOUR SOULS
Pure magic when the impromptu performance happens!
What a troop that is sitting right there. Love that Kenny just sits for the most part and relishes it all
That is such genuine affection between Buddy Rich and Sammy Davis
What masters of show. The "Stars" of TODAY cannot compare to these GREATS.
It is a shame that they never manaaged to find the right vehicle to truly showcase Roy Castle's talents.
Amazing souls. This is a great clip.
What a great entertainer Sammy was and how we miss him.The Greatest all rounder of them all.
It makes me want to weep when I see artists from this era as entertainment will never be this good again.
Kenny behaved himself, well done.
How about these great entertainers and then the best as in Sammy all are missed never can be replaced.
Absolute class. Time is inevitable but sad none of the guests are with us anymore.
I don’t know wether it’s a generational thing but my god there was class around!!!
Nowadays,,they are nothing in comparison!!
Total total respect!!!
Incrivel Sammy, um artista completo! Buddy Rich é o cara!
the best ever! never sadly to be repeated
I was waiting for Roy to join in the band. I think the floor manager messed up the timing.
The true endearing moment, was SDJ putting his hand on Michael's leg when he gave sincere thanks for being looked after for the show. That is such statement of a true heart warming personality. God bless them all.
Good to see Kenny Everett put in his place!!!!
These guys had such huge personalities and were the very definition of entertainers
When you could sing a song without the need of auto tune and sound fantastic. And just go with the flow... Not many artists can do this today.
Buddy Rich is the best drummer ever
0:18 that's so endearing
Pianist put on the spot did incredibly well .
Wow brilliant just watch what kind of fool i am its fantastic.
I loved sammy, have just about every album he made plus books, but am still pissed he wouldn't give up smoking even while singing and Sinatra telling him not to until it was to late.r.i.p.sammy.
Absolutely fantastic
Its crazy how people mention martin luther king in history but dont mention sammy.if u read sammy book u a know that sammy did more then martin luther king.sammy the man.im only 26 but this man inspired me alot
What a line up of class acts all bar Parky are sadly no longer with us. RIP
Kenny is utter class here
To think that they are all gone and we'll never see their like again. 😪
Star quality Sammy Davis Jr and my dad's favourite drummer Buddy Rich!
For f***s sake Kenny Everett, Sammy Davis Jr and a mention of Lionel Blair, not to mention Buddy R and Roy Castle on the same bill!! This is dream making stuff!!
Sammy had real class.
LEGENDS
Fabulous.
"Candy" in the middle of his vocal ad lib???? WOW! I would never have thought of that! Sammy was a one-off.
What an insane line up 🤪
Thank you xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
You SAID it!
The best Parkinson ever
These are proper stars
I remember a quip by Sammy, he once said “ I must be the only red haired, one eyed, Jewish black man😊fabulous entertainer.
I hope Sammy and Buddy know how talented Roy Castle is.
One word class, even Kenny
@63Brummie - Yeah. You rarely knew who was going to be on Parky's show until the NIGHT. So it blew my mind when TWO of my five greatest heroes (Kenny and Buddy) were on the SAME SHOW (and you'd never expect THOSE two to ever MEET!) And I quite liked Roy as well - then SAMMY walked out!! HELL of a show! Was a pure fluke I'd taped it, too. Oh - Dudley Moore, Burt Bacharach and John Barry, in case you were wondering...
This was real entertainment!
OMG How much would you have to pay to see these guys in one gig
Roy Castle can play...bigtime.....

Brilliant 😂😂😘😘😬h
Real pros here nice stuff cool smooth class
Kenny, you beauty
@roversd1 - yes, these other guys were SERIOUS HEAVYWEIGHTS!
Sammy looked good in a suit:)
So cute.
@eocarcharia - Kenny was the odd man out, but Buddy and Sam had toured together several times - and Roy was a serious jazz musician, away from TV.
Not to diss current talk shows, but could this have happened on The Late Show or The Late Late Show or The Why Are You Still Awake Show?
My friend Lee Musiker is on the piano.BTW, I don't know if Buddy knew that Sammy Davis was coming on the show or not but the producers certainly knew - his musical number is clearly rehearsed -( bass player is reading music!)! Fake spontaneity!
Roy could play just about every instrument and then Sammy well ! and the guy in the middle can play the drums a bit !
There are gods that walk, and have walked, this earth as man. This clip shows the giants that have been and sadly gone. Even more sadly, when I look at todays excuses for talent, it would appear that we will never see their likes again.
AD INFERNO
Love for Kenny at the end. Talented fuckers all.
