For a ~1k car this looks amazing, especially the interior - so clean and nice. The leather did not age that much.
In the 2020 dependability study performed by J.D. Powers, the Land Rover brand came in literally dead last. Of all the cars in America that J.D. Powers collected data on for 2020 models, Land Rover vehicles had the most problems per 100 vehicles. A whopping 220 problems per 100 vehicles.
Why would you !
Ones in this good condition will cost like 10 000 euros in my country.
Bargain, I was expecting a rusty broken rotbox but the owner really did take care of it and suprised that they just let it go that cheap, seems in amazing condition and the spec looks really nice
I can not believe that you can buy a car like that for 1250 quid. Blows my mind. I know its expensive to run, insure, fuel, maintain etc etc, but wow, what street cred for the money. Another great vid, thanks Matt
I think these "bought a cheap..." videos are your best, Matt. Great to see old cars saved from the scrapheap and given a new lease of life. 100% correct to remove the tints and private reg. How much have you spent thus far?
Thanks! A couple of hundred I guess
@@HighPeakAutos Nice. Keep or sell? Million dollar question.

Matt made me realise how much I loved the L322. It's an all time classic. Every time he makes a video with one I simply have to watch it.
Had a vectra with buttons not working for window etc. popped them out stripped and cleaned contacts which oxidise over many years, worked perfect after that all the way to the breakers 😂
Heart of a lion Matt, taking on an old RR
I drive a 2004 Td6 L322 vogue. Bought for £1800. Fixed a few bits and bobs .... it drives like new !! Looks like new... ( at a glance). Makes me feel good every time I drive it !
Great to see the 300,000 mark on the horizon! This interesting , well produced content is getting justly rewarded…
Hey Matt. I have found myself in that same club, where you find yourself with a car that nobody else would sensibly buy but we are just so in love with the car. 16 year old Audi Q7 that had a blown V8 engine, bought a 65k mile engine and dropped it in. Having only spent $4800 pounds all up we just love driving the thing and going places as a family. It's loaded with all the features that were available at the time and looks like a handsome classic. Don't ever change Matt. Showing appreciation and love for a classic is nothing to be ashamed of and I think we can all relate.
You’ll be in the showers with him next, calm down 😂
@@recall2880 only if I can bring the car too. lol
@@JBurford 😂😂😂 made me laugh. Good on you for not taking offence. The world needs more people like you
@@recall2880 Yea hopefully Matt doesn't see these comments now, he'll call us Renault Twingo drivers
After seeing Jayemm cars recent video, I couldn’t wait for you to buy one. I’m getting addicted to your cheap car videos please keep up fabulous content. Matt only thing I do want to add is can you do follow ups on some of the cars you buy and tell us how much they sold for?
For someone who doesn’t have any love for Range Rovers I have to admit it I like that one! I can see what you mean by elegance. It’s also cheap enough to just break for parts when it all goes wrong. In fact don’t sell it, with that nice leather and wood it would make a great place to have a coffee whilst it’s permanently parked outside your garage! 😊
Another great vid ! Ref your lack of pixels, I think I saw Cartronix of Waterlooville featured. Not used personally but look like they do exactly what you need.
It's enough to make you want to go into the motor trade. I can remember going to a customer when the L322 came out, he had an early one on an 02 and he let me sit in it and it was such an advance on anything at the time, today it shows the power of good design to remain timeless.
I wish you sold vans, you are so trustworthy and honest. I am struggling to find an honest dealer who sells a van with a genuine history/miles.
A good few years ago I had a '53 plate L322 Vogue 4.4 Petrol. Dark blue, with dark blue leather piped in cream. Great piece of kit. The most impressive thing about it was at 30mph feathering the throttle it was completely silent. Very relaxing. Mine was tint free too - took me ages to find one like that. The least impressive thing was, back when petrol was around £1.10-1.20 a litre, it still cost well over a hundred quid to fill it up ☹ I swapped it for a 57 plate V8 3.6 diesel version a couple of years later. Both were used for towing a track day car. I love rangies, particularly the L322. Glad to see this one had the 'right' alloys on it. They look stupid with low profile tyres and all that other tat in my opinion.
I absolutely love the interior design of this era of LL. And the seat design and color of cream all over the inside is so so so so so very nice. The layout of dials and wood accents are so well put together.
Yes just about perfect match
Just returned from a 3500 mile round trip to Montenegro in my 2011 L322. Comfortable, great AC and handy that it’s LHD for all the tolls. Averaged 23 mpg, not bad for a 5.0 V8 petrol, also 95 RON only €1.40 once through Italy.
I look forward to each and every video. I like your attitude, outlook, honesty and demeanor. You have a true fan in Houston, Texas.
I’m doing almost the same thing as you Matt. I bought an 07 L320. All original hasn’t been Chavved up it’s Buckingham blue with cream leathers and grey carpets I absolutely love it.
I have just set up a site where I’m going to be documenting my progress because I didn’t think I’d love the car this much … but it’s mainly for owners of L320s/L322s to interact help each other with questions advice and all that jazz.
Must be a lot of these hitting the scrapyard right now, so values for the remaining ones might start to creep up! Looks great in original spec - real ‘old money’ feel to it!
Great video Matt, really love watching your videos. It is just a good way to end the night. Watching someone who is transparent and doesn't hide the realities of a job like yours.
Take care and safe travels.
Privacy glass also keeps in the inside cooler, cuts back on sun damage to your interior and makes in harder for theives to see inside. Plus it makes it so your not geting blinded by cars from the rear as much. Every single SUV has it in North America has it. To me it honesty looks weird without it.
I have just found and bought a 2003 Vogue in the green colour you love the most, it has the same engine and spec as the one you are driving, also original apart from some small chrome add ons on the side vents and door handles. I paid £1400,00 and needs a little welding to the rear jacking point. The car I have found only has 110K miles and most of the car is in good condition. I think your videos on RR's prompted me to go for it. Thanks Matt.
Thank you for the review. These are the best Range Roves next to the classic models for me. I have a big soft spot for Rangies from growing up with them, Landrover series models, defenders and Landcruiser 45 and 47 series. My father was the Wardn in Charge at St. Lucia now the iSimangaliso Wetland Unesco World Heritage Site and I lived, ate and breathed 4x4's as a lad. The bug bit and since then I've owned all manner of 4x4's from Series 2A's, Series 3 Safari 109" 2.6 wagon , Defender 110 td5 County Wagon and other makes. This clip brought home just how stuning these vehicles are. Enjoy!!!
Brilliant 👍 I really fancy an old L322 and completely agree on colours and window tints. Keep them clean, standard and non fussy. Lovely car
Agree ...things like tints, big wheels , crome exhausts etc make me think of fairgrounds
You can always spot an L322 video by how quiet the background noise is when Matt's driving. Even if you had your eyes closed, you'd know. It's a nice example and I think it's worth 3k if written up well with good photos. I'd pay that for it.
I think you have knicked it for £1250.00, it looks lovely.
Totally agree about re-investing back to its original condition.
The tints had to go.
I am quite sure that you will not be able to buy a decent, original one of those for less than 5 grand in the not too distant future.
It looks a keeper to me.
That's a nice car Matt. Very clean and standard, just the way I like them. It's done very well for its age and mileage and will continue to carry on for much longer if you continue to look after it as well as its previous owner did.
great video ...hint I purchased a new touch screen infotainment from Aliixpress with the loom to connect to the rear left stereo DSP in the boot and you still have to leave the old stereo mother board connected in behind the dash or glove box or the new system cuts off after 30 seconds
I bought my 05 4.4 v8 3 years ago now and absolutely love it. They are such great vehicles and deserve to stay on the road for another 20 years at least
Pretty much exactly what i`m after, 4.4 petrol, prefer the 2005 facelift ideally though, the pre facelift front end hasn`t aged quite as well as the rest of the car in my opinion
I think the early ones look better, and the mesh grille versions not so good. In my view, when looking at later cars, you're better off with the V8 diesels. The 3.6 V8's are good value now. The difficult bit is finding one that isn't really tired now.
Losing the plate and the tints gives it a great modern classic look. The best looking of the L322s are the early cars. Such a clean, timeless design.
I will never understand why plates mean so much to you folks in the UK. I stare at them and it might as well be a foreign language. Meaningless. And in this case childish.
Oh, now that looks really nice inside, Matt and I agree with your comments about the number plate, tinted windows etc... What good value for money that is, although I'm not a Range Rover man myself... I'm sure one of your viewers will be delighted to make you an offer that tempts you!!
Cheap and Range Rover are words that should never ever go together lol. In your defence that is a clean one.
Exactly!
😂
Another great find. It is great to see an original petrol one, and the V8 sounds superb.
@@Blackmamba12345 as much as I hate to admit when i”m wrong I think Matt has dodged a bullet with this one,it looks in stunning condition for its age,the fact the previous owner has spent a small fortune and the body is in that good condition I’m pretty confident this is a good solid buy.
Indeed but I’d like to think Matt and myself know these cars extremely well as I myself have worked on them for over 20 years so I know extremely what to look out for ,the fact that the interior and exterior is in fabulous condition tells me vehicle has been very well looked after regardless of cost ,Matt also has been in this game a long time now so again he knows exactly what to look out for,if you had bothered to search the vehicle online first you would have seen the corrosion and common problems have already been taken care of,have a wonderful day 👍
Nice. You did better than me. Mine is in a lot worse condition and as a second vehicle not driven all the time but it still brings a smile to my face when I hear that V8. 👍
I used Revtronic mate, they did my e46 nav screen fully posted and warranty for around £100.
In in the process of prepping our 4.2 SC for sale. Not looking forward to seeing it go
I’m with you Matt regarding window tints. They invariably look rubbish after a few years. Reminds of those external plastic rear window louvres - remember those? Keep everything original.
I like the tints on the glass, as long as it's not black out. Plus if you're catching flies on a long journey nobody can see you. 😂
The early L322s hadn't got the complicated fibre optic MOST system of the later cars so it's easy to change the head unit out for a modern unit with DAB and android auto/apple carplay. Wont be original but makes the car far more enjoyable to use. Its the same system as used in the early X5's and you can retrofit a reversing camera.
get in rid of the tinted glass was definitely a good move,it looks so much "smarter" edit..and the plates
I like the privacy glass, it's also very practical
Overall I LOVE the range rovers, but the one after this (facelifted version) is my favorite. So many memories, and such a tank!❤
Lovely car. Still use my 54 reg td6 as a daily work vehicle, great car and does everything needed for work and family- prefer it to the wife’s DS3, keep thinking I’d like a jag v8 N/a but there hard to find. Do think the pre face bmw era ones have a look to them and have aged well, as a another commented a lot are being scrapped so values do look to be increasing.
Reminds me of my first l322, an 03 TD6 in Zambezi silver! Now on my third l322 (a 09 TDV8 Westminster) and don’t think I could have anything else perfect mix of luxury and utility!
I cant believe these are 20 years old now. I remember when these first came out after the P38 and they were stunning!
I'm in the club. Been running mine 2004 l322 4.4 v8 since Nove 21. Never without its issues but a great wafter and so practical (apart from the mpg )
When you see a new video 'I BOUGHT A CHEAP RANGE ROVER L322 FOR £1,250!', and you say to yourself what has Matt done now?
Yeah that happens to me all the time.
Still in stock lol I bet it’s whizzed off in the quick turn round department 😳🤣🤣😎😎
Instead of heroin hes a rang rover junkie but got taste
No such thing as a cheap L322 😉🤣
MATT, before spending money on that head unti screen, search fix dead pixels with lighter.... you'll see an e39 video example
A decent well maintained RR for £1250 is a steal. These cars well looked after are a live for ever car.
It certainly looks well and deffo agree on tints/private reg. What miles on it? I had an 05 model bought in 2014. Beautiful but electrics(suspension) went bonkers sadly.
A couple of questions:
1. Did you perform a Car Horizontal check ✅?
2. Is this motor fully loaded?
No, he used Car Diagonal this time :)

Brilliant!!! Superb comment.
What about Car Hypotenuse???
Matt, with regards to the sat-nav screen, once repaired, a good and common upgrade is for a later mk4 BMW era nav computer, fairly cheap and updated graphics so it feels that tiny bit more modern. I had a 2003 Epsom green with ivory leather, walnut wood and the light green carpets. I agree with your comments about the No window tint look, mine looked so classy.
just did my air con.. pressure tested it., and it leaked at the hose and coupler.. repalced it and charged it up.. good for the Hot season.. 16 c.. wow thats winter for us..
I agree about the privacy ( tinted) glass.. I had to go dark on mine.. only because I carry around either Custom made Italian Race bikes or my Vintage Jazz drums..
its a small trade -off that protects my investment from would be prying eyes./ thieves,..but., without it.. yours is quite classy , as mine would be .as its a 09 L22 santorini blk.. off white interior .. Did I mention I live in the Deserts of Southern Arizona where temps get to be over 40c..in the summer
Sounds like a bargain. Nice to see the car in its original spec . Keep up the Great work.
To your point about taking these back to original, I have a mint set of early L322 7 spoke alloys (a match for Harry Metcalfe’s set on his Harry’s Garage L322 review) fully refurbed which I got done for a resto but never used. Let me know if interested
Surely the one deviation from standard that should be allowed is the Head unit upgrade like PowerfulUK did
Mines the 06 jag engine, 210k, 150k of those miles on LPG, in the Midlands have easy access to gas and mechanics, de pimped it but kept rear privacy as its a stealth van for me, more reliable than any real van I've owned.
I’ve just found an L322 4.4 V8 on an 07 plate in sliver and the price is £1300 I am seriously considering going to buy it later today. Only problems so far are it’s got 29 days left on mot and no history. I think it’s worth a look though
Nothing wrong with a 20 plus range rover.....as long it's looked after.
Mine still going strong and towing the horses about.
Same here. Great vehicles.
Not long come across your UA-cam channel, good sound honest advice, refreshing served with a nice dry humour. Great Stuff 😁👍
You're bang on with your taste! Tints and chrome etc.
Beautiful car, such a good honest and original version. You should keep it permanently in your showroom to put a smile on your face everyday when you get to work.
Bloody hell, thought you’d joined the NF when I saw those reg plates, classy. Great video as always
What a gorgeous virgin of an L322, especially for the money. Clear glass and no LPG in sight is definitely the way forward.
Keeper?
I think so
Love seeing L322's on here! Wish mine had the cream leather 😩 One thing I disagree with though is the tints, as long as they're not too dark it's the right car for them (factory rears) but them fixed side steps I personally can't stand!
I have always liked the "older" Rangies, not into all the electric gismos of the new models
Put it back on it's original 52 plate and sell the private reg. You make some profit straight away.
They are a great car Matt. I have a 53 plate V8 supercharged. I keep thinking of upgrading but I cannot part with it.
Magic channel formula. Cheap & Range Rover. Great choice for a resto. Hopefully the views will pay for some of it 👍👍
Hi Matt
Your radio screen problem.Mike Brewer of wheeler dealers had the same issue in one of his projects so might be an idea to get in touch with him for a contact.
The only other thing I would do is loose the side steps if possible. Other than that L322 values can only go one way and early and runout models seem to be the ones that attract the interest. Completely off topic but having just walked past one, what about a Mustang used review?
I wish I got a deal like this, I am literrly refusing to buy a car coz i want my first car to be a range rover. Always been a dream. Kudos to you lad!
I have an ‘11 RR and I’m thinking about powder coating the original wheels black. You don’t seem to be in favor of black wheels. Can I ask why? My exterior color is also black. I enjoy your RR videos!
Lovely clean old example. Getting hard to find honest ones now. I’m a hopeless R/R addict too so biased but regarding the windows they are not unappealing given the black and cream combo. Same can’t be said for the plates back to standard without question. Good luck with her.
Lovely. Much prefer the original dash with the light wood ends. Strange, that the later P38 4.6 is ULEZ compliant, but these petrol L332s aren’t. What miles has it done?
TWENTY YEARS OLD that is really awesome, every success with this splendid Ranger Rover.
These are old now
I have a 2005 Passat (2000-2005) and it has the “unbreakable” drivetrain but I’ve had many problems with thing like locks and windows and the interior is worn
I do like the contrast piped leather. Mine has navy hide on the interior but no piping.
I’m loving this, you buy all the cars I love, especially the range rovers, I’m living my car dreams through you, thanks 😊
So much cleaner than it should be. Can't believe the metal on the rear heated seat buttons is still perfect.
I agree, so many of the L322's have been molested by wannabe gangstas with the bling bling on chrome 22's, it's hard to come across an original one now. Sometimes it can be 10x cheaper to replace trim with these 'chrome' bits, that doesn't help.
Loose the side steps and mud flaps - plug the holes with mini grommets. Great car and love the video !
Another good video..Yes I agree about hybrids and Toyota guarantee the batteries for 15 years I believe if it’s serviced by them .EVs may work in the future but not for a long time and the whole concept is very I’ll thought out .
You have really outdone yourself here Matt!
I wonder if you could do a slight modification if the entertainment system by adding Android Auto/Apple Car Play? Saw on another channel an owner of a Aston Martin DBS (10+ years old) having it added and resolved the so many issues. Best of luck with the car. An enjoyable but nerve twitching video.
That’s lovely for the money. I’ll be honest I love the tint and thought no leave it on yet when it was off I totally understood why you removed it it looked so much better enjoy your car
Lpg usually burns valves out, the fuel consumption drops as its a less powerful fuel, I converted a volvo and St away it felt half a litre smaller engine, it was doing 17 mpg on gas vs 28 on petrol, but was only 23p a litre from my local calor gas depot, so 4 tines cheaper at that time.
Yes that’s right. I’ve had lots of Trouble like that
@@HighPeakAutos I did a lot of miles so it did save, once froze up tho, so many drawbacks, tbh diesels still the best way.
Congrats! As you say it looks like it’s been looked after. Really nice outside and in. Oh and yes much better without the ‘privacy glass’.
On the upside, £1,250 should allow for a decent fighting fund to address (m)any issues! And that 4.4 BMW engine is a peach.
Get an FDR2 civic EX on tye should you buy please!!! Thinking about buying one and don’t know a lot about them, love your videos!
Absolutely love this. a great looking car, gentle improvement and the world is bonkers that’s it was £1200 for a well looked after one. But running costs will be significant so I guess that’s the trade off. Interior looks so smart. Is this the same v8 that was in 5 and 7 series of the period?
I’m actually coming round to your way of thinking about privacy glass. In some cars it does just cheapens it, you want everyone to see that lovely leather not hide it
Matt, you and I must be the only 2 people that don’t like privacy glass, I cannot possibly imagine why on earth would anyone want a window that limits your visibility, particularly in the dark
I bought a cheap wheelbarrow.
A 2013 wheelbarrow valued at £30. I paid £20.
The tyres were below the legal limit and it failed the MOT due to a rusty wheel bearing.
I paid £45 to fix it.
Total costs were £200.
I sold it for £75.
That's a profit of £125.
Also, I checked it out on Wheelbarrow Horizontal. My wheelbarrow had no previous crash damage or MOT failures in 78 countries.
Usually at this price they turn out to be horrors. I know it is a project car. Hope it doesn't turn out to be expensive. Have MOT'd and serviced yet?
Petrol ones of this year are best. They have the ZF reliable gearbox. The 3.0 diesel has a GM gearbox made of plastacine.
The zf also has problems.
There a few tricks on UA-cam to fix radio screen using the electric switch out of one of those cooker lighters. Worth a try. Can pick up for a quid or two.
Search dead pixel fix. Radio
Hi Comrade Matt, I can’t find this Ranger Rover on your website are you keeping it for now...
Appreciate you're not a fan of privacy glass, but many people in the market like it so it's better for them to have the option rather than you making a decision for them. Especially if it's for sale. Also a car of this age would be better off with a decent aftermarket head unit with Bluetooth at least which will be the same price as repairing or replacing the outdated OEM one. As for air conditioning, it's good to use it all year round not just Christmas.
You know the video is gonna be good when it starts with “I bought a cheap…” 🤩 love these videos!!
Thanks!
