I’m a simple man, I see “massively overspent” I click the video
Incredible how a small channel has grown into a memeable staple of my UA-cam diet.
I feel honoured to have been part of it
Mat U love a 322, lve never seen U smile saying massively overspent before! Massively treated myself more apt. Lovley RR
The title was unnecessary… seeing a Range Rover thumbnail you know what he’ll have done!
Hi Matt, you seem to be very fond of these old Range Rover models.Nice looking cars actually, but in terms of reliability, they leave a lot to be desired.
Massively overspent. Lol,that’s normal for Land Rover running costs
There is something deeply satisfying seeing such a classy interior, with analog instrument cluster, real buttons, no huge screens.
I’m definitely of the same opinion 👍
Yeah, I hate those screens, in fact they are dangerous. It amazes me they are allowed. Fiddling with touch screens goibg through options trying to do simple changes that used to be switches is bonkers. Completely backward step.
@@mattwright2964My thoughts exactly 👍💯.
@@Rossbott1964 me too 👌
Could not agree more! Bloody ludicrous car manufacturers gimmicky style that is very dangerous trying to operate whist driving! Don't know how they get away with it!
You do not overspend you preserve and care for cars you own. I can only afford one, but I love your videos they are so entertaining thanks Matt.
Its nice if you have the money lucky Matt
Very nice result Matt, I've got the same model/year with 225k miles and running on LPG (68p/litre) as my work van, its a bit rough around the edges but the interior is great with a similar worn steering wheel, despite its faults its been reliable and the Jag engine is still silky smooth 😎👍
Interesting congratulations
The L322 was the last RR I really liked . It had the right combination of luxury and utilitarianism. The latest ones lean far to the side of luxury , I can’t see farmers chucking the odd bale of hay or a sheep in the back of a modern one and driving it across farm land in the middle of winter.
This spec on a L322 look fab Matt.
Money well spent, the green looks very cool and the interior is so modern for its age! :D
Great video as usual Matt! :D
l322 will always look classy and timeless. :)
Foundry Grey....thats the official color of the interior trim. Super hard to find touch up paint, most people just remove the parts and respray in an eye matched color which works just fine. Once again you have done a beautiful job bringing back another RR. My RR Classic is coming out of paint in the next few weeks and it will be done.
As always, well done Matt. For those hopeless romantics who cannot escape the allure of Land Rover, it's always a pleasure to see someone else with the same enchantment. She is looking fantastic. The L322 has a timeless understated regal look. Entirely agree with changing the grille back. Is this one to keep as your own or is the plan to sell on?
I once owned the same colour L322 with the 4.4l BMW petrol engine on a 52 plate. This vehicle at one time was owned by Peter Shand Kidd. It was a wonderful car and I wish to this day I had not parted company with our family car. Despite all warnings about having an L322 , it never once let us down.....total opposite to Range Rover Sports I bought subsequently.
Definitely a keeper Matt. When are we getting I'VE MASSIVELY OVERSPENT merchandise?👍
I enjoy nothing more than seeing L322’s being saved and looked after properly!
Nothing?
@@Phuqarf my life consists of going to college and watching my MG and Land Rover leak, there isn’t much going on.
@@Offensivebeast fair enough, they’re lovely motors.
@@Phuqarf thank you, they are lovely when they work 😂
I love that range rover matt I was one of the guys mithering you for an update on it and I must say it's stunning and knowing you and how you sort your motors out its going to be the dogs do dars when completely finished well done matt and regular updates would really be appreciated 👍
Like we agreed about your recent 5.0 V8 Jaguar, this comes from an era when cars were better. Maybe not as quick as nowadays, but they were more ‘analog’, more mechanical, less tracked!
I think my appreciation of 00’s cars may have something to do with the fact that the world seemed a better place back then, not as good as the 90’s and probably countless other decades, but my eyes are open to the horrific direction humanity is being led down now and I’m seriously disillusioned with virtually all institutions, and I think I include modern cars in that.
I’m going to buy a B7 RS4 I think.
Nice one Matt.
Ah nah they were betteer in 1990's after 2000 it's downhill. It's not just more mechnical but better quality tooling, paint etc. They really didn't have planned obselesense in mind in 1990's.
It looks great to its original spec. I have the same rear camera problem, I used to hit it and it would work but now it’s done. That’s a keeper no matter what.🤩 Those big headrest always makes it look substantial. Lol
Hi Matt , we have a 2005 l322 n had a strange noise which turned out to be hand brake shoes , the back plate had rusted through on the near side n the spring fitting let go so the handbrake shoe was scraping the inside of the disc, also I had to repair the near side jacking point as it had corroded away ! 80x40 box section to the rescue ! Drives great though n it's definitely a" champagne Charlie for lemonade money "type of car , love an old rangie !
It looks great. Massively overspent vs spending what’s needed to maintain it properly…. It always costs more than you hope….. if you exhale loudly whilst paying a bill to keep a car like this going you’re probably spending about the right amount 😊
Love it. No such thing as overspending on an L322. They are exempt. I have a 20 year old one with 175k on it. It's a constant labour of love. 😂😂😂
I went to Lidl this evening in my 2010 L322 and the car makes something as mundane as shopping an event. There's nothing quite like them.
Obviously I /have/ to shop at a budget supermarket because the car continues to bash me over the head and run off with all my money.
But it's so worth it 😂
Excellent as always Matt 🙂 totally get you with this, nice pretty, clean well specced car with no 'Gangsta' bling and the grille and shark vents back to normal...love it!
This Range Rover certainly looks a different car to the one you bought.
Massively overspent is a given with you Matt, however it’s clear to see where the money has gone.
I can totally understand your passion for these vehicles, because I am obsessed with all things Škoda.
As always great content, I enjoyed watching it ❤.
Hey YES there it is, I prefer this one over your other ones. Looks great, clean and as new!! I replaced the steering wheel on my Disco for £250 in the end even after first giving the original leather one some treatment which looked ok for a while. I think it would save you time and hassle. Can Jimmy repair mouse nibbled seat cushion as in my Cayenne?
Loving the L322. I have an 07 diesel V8 . Repaired my reverse camera by buying a £7 bullet camera on amazon and fitting it in the original camera holder still works perfectly after 5 years. Also I'm sure powerful uk do an after market one too. Really enjoy your content especially Range Rover stuff
Could you give me a link to that camera? Do you literally just cut the wires and solder them onto the new one?
Keep doing you Matt ! Awesome work 👏
Love your blatant honesty, Matt.
And now it's in the title of the video. 😁
I have the same one (make/model/year/engine) but in the dark blue color with a cream interior.
Absolutely love it even though it does have some of the usual electrical gremlins when it gets really cold out, even though everything works 99% of the time. ;)
Was -13 when I went out this morning, and the first thing the car notified me about was that the suspension had a fault.. which then disappeared once the morning frost went away.
They are so nice to drive that it almost feels like you are cheating when in traffic.
"I could use it and see what faults develop. Create a bit of a snagging list..." That's going to be the mechanical equivalent of perpetual motion, rolling on and on, job's going on the list as jobs are done and taken off it. But we love and admire your tenacity mate, even if we don't share the slightly masochistic excitement of running an older Rangey while it tries to suck all your money from your bank accounts. Makes for great content, and that's why we keep coming back. 👍👍
Great job Matt, so glad you took the SC grill and vents off, this would be my dream spec L322 if I had the chance, that interior!!!!!!
Thanks for the update Matt, looking very good.
It’s beautiful Matt! Well done for restoring it.
Matt, you obviously love the brand. Spend what you think and enjoy the drive 👍🏼 you only live once !!
You can never over spend on an L322 😊
Spec’s gorgeous, can’t get over how gorgeous the interiors is especially
I had same issue with reverse camera - bought replacement from powerful UK and works a treat. Just buy a voltage regulator to go with it so you don’t get interference pattern on the screen.
Funny how you can mention their name, but my posts just get deleted by UA-cam for spamming!
@@rafflesnhI think it's because those two parts of the name are not connected by the algorithm, but (and I won't put it or it will prob get rejected) a capital in the p either with or without space between it and the abbreviation for your beautiful country is enough to make the spam link.
Looks great. I'd add all terrain tires and increase the height of them slightly + 30mm wheel spacers as I always think the wheel/tire combo look out of proportion for such a big car - it's a subtle difference that I did to my D4 but improved the overall look and stance to an otherwise standard car.
Love my good old l322’s would love to see more videos of you saving these Land Rovers
I LOVE this colour. It’s a nice shade of green which give this car such an elegant look 💚
Nice to keep another RR on the road. Did yours come with the Venture Cam/ Torch combo? I repaired a few recently (new batteries) and met the owner who used them as a towing aid. A kind of 'before the GoPro' thing. Works well with the LCD screen onboard.
Looks great. I love the way you say Jiminty Green
Looks great! Reminds me how much I miss my L322, I will have another one day
That'll be good for many years to come! Can't beat a clean L322 ❤
Despite the reliability dramas, the L322 was peak Range Rover if you'll forgive the pun. Having said that, 'Peak Range Rover' has a certain ring to it. Invoice enclosed.
Such a well-engineered car my 2008 has 247000 km. has the original airsprings which will hurt when they wear, I use a 303 protectant to promote longevity! I was proactive and rebuilt the Hitachi air compressor. Other than regular maintenance it has been flawless! The Canadian winters and road salt have me doing annual corrosion control which includes POR 15 a U.S. product on the air reservoir and behind the plastic liner starting in front of the rear wheels, What was the mysterious noise in your RR?
5:09 first world problems dude. We used to say wear and tear gave character to our belongings.
The if we dinged anything like furniture, there were no tears.
Dings, bangs, and scratches, were representative of how long something had looked after us.
(I do kind of know what you mean though in this case. Steering wheel a bit scruffy with little bits hanging off.)
ER: Rear camer and front parking sensors, check wiring.
Looks proper, back when most Range Rovers weren't just for cities.
You're right Matt, great colour that especially when the sun catches it..also love the interior seat colour,.. Bless your worried face when you first heard that sound😊did you find out what it was? 👍
Very envious of the colour and trim.
Doing all the right things, the right way. This ticks so many boxes. You're absolutely right to keep driving it - it's by far and away the best method of sorting niggly issues.
Not a Range Rover chap, but fully understand why you are.
I do interior smart repairs, you can get the steering wheel sprayed similarly to how they do it in factory for 35-50 ish if you get someone decent to do it. You want them to use a chemical spray and not water based otherwise as soon as you come to wash it, it’ll come off black and isn’t durable.
The side grills were called Brunel Vents I seem to recall. My first new Range Rover was Giverney Green with cream leather. Beautiful car- good taste Matt
Still massively spending on my TDV8 . Love the Petrol V8 .
i can never get bored of these videos! Keep em coming 👏🏼💪🏽
You have shown us the value of buying and renovating good older cars as opposed to wasting money on new cars, which seem to be either very expensive, unobtainable or just plain crap in the case of EV’s. After watching your LS430 videos a couple of years ago I bought one. Couldn’t be happier with my purchase and have kept it up to original excellent condition. The ‘2000’s were the sweet spot in car manufacture (with the exception of Mercedes of course) and keeping these cars for a long time will reap benefits. Many thanks once again for another fantastic video, Matt.
Well done. They’re great cars
Do you mind if I ask how you knew which one to buy? I’m keen to buy an older one like this as I’ve been stuck in the PCP rat race for years and sick of throwing money away. Don’t have a clue where to start on how to know what is / isn’t a good deal, and whether a car like this is likely to cause issues down the line, besides the obvious checks of service history. Thanks
@@IlEstToutSeulIf you are referring to an LS430, all dealers have the details of the service history of all the Lexuses (Lexii?) They service. When I was looking to buy mine, the Service Manager from the dealership rang me on a SUNDAY afternoon and said it was a fantastic car! He then emailed me the list of what had been done on the car. After examining the car yourself, I would have a chat to the dealer who looks after it. The other thing, of course, is doing a carVertical check to see if there is any accident history and all the other stuff will give you more information to help you make a decision. Then, if you are still unsure have it inspected by a mechanic you trust to give the final OK. And remember, if the seller balks at allowing you to do any of these checks, walk away. He’s hiding something.
Hi Matt, that squealing sound is very familiar....I have a 2014 disco 4 and theres a clip in the electronic parking break hub which has a retaining pin that corrodes and allows the clip to break free and it can get stuck in the shoe making an excruciating metal on metal shriek. I don't know if that model has the same park break setup but could be worth investigating. Just a thought. Lovely car though and great to see such care and love being lavished on a very worthy old motor.
Those seats are amazing! Well done matt.
2:01 awewewewe - as a non-native english speaker, this combination of words ALWAYS makes me do that as well
This really is a magnificent looking vehicle. The removal of the incorrect grilles etc. have made all the difference not to mention the mud flaps giving it an air of the gentleman farmer. Thank you.
It's remarkable how good it looks. Worth every penny
What a stunning location where you parked up. I had to watch the video twice because the first time I was just looking at the scenery. Love the colour of the RR too.
Well at least you got the 'Massively overspent' part sorted in the title itself! 😄
‘Weird obsession, hobby.’ I love it and sums up our own obsession Matt
Hiya Matt, brilliant video as always and I'm one of the many who has been asking about the follow up video for this classy L322 as I have a 2003 Giverny green model with the BMW engine which I bought for the princely sum of £3500 after falling in love with the colour and spec after seeing your first video, happy days, keep the excellent videos coming on the L322 Matt
Nice that. Went straight to the garage website to see if it was listed before I even clicked the video thumbnail 😂
That looks absolutely stunning, in a perfect spec too.
i do normally chuckle at your dinosaur car restorations, but this one actually does looks the part 💎👌😄
Like a stately home on wheels.
very smart!
btw, halfords do free air con checks.
and if you need an extended diagnostic its £35
there are only 3 things that can ever go wrong on an aircon system regardless of the car, compressor, condenser or leaking hoses
Love this car, I've been keeping an eye out for a 4.4 ever since I watched the first video!
Another enjoyable video. Thank you 😊
When the title starts "ive massively overspent".....im in!
TTW AutoTrim (Nottingham) do some really nice work by the look - might be worth a look for replacing the steering wheel leather (first search result). I’m surprised Exmoor Trim (Defender / LR specialist trim) don’t offer a wider range of interior refurbishment products, maybe it’s worth a call and a prod - the certainly have the capabilities according to a recent LR Live factory tour. Look forward to seeing what you do. I’ve no affiliation with either company.
I have just bought the 4.2 supercharged with 66k on the clock, my first thing was to get the engine and box serviced, money well spent ! My next plan is to follow your path and do the body work also 👌. Great video, thanks for sharing
Absolute beauty! That colour is so nice. Love my L322 and appreciate how you shared your love for them when you started your channel. Simply nothing quite like em; they are fantastic cars.
Nice job. Colour looks great. It is indeed ‘a big ole bus!’
Jimmys The Man!Top Work.👍
I. agree with you concerning the colour Matt, it's very striking.
I found that Bees Wax is great for restoring and looking after steering wheels.
Lovely car and lovely interior. Really fancy owning a disco 3 or 4 now.
Stunning Matt. You know and love the L322 and must say,I’m weakening
A real class act. Love this era of Range Rover and that colour combination is beautiful 👍
Lovely car Matt Love the interior finish👍👍👍
I have just dried stored my 2004 4.4 v8 petrol Vouge. Ive got a list of things to do which i will get round to over the next few years. Just couldn't bring myself to sell it. Hopefully going to make it mint. It is mechanically sound as have already had full service, gearbox service and alternator fitted in 2 years of ownership. Need to get digital dash done, air con fixed. Rust to rear arches and few scratches buffed out, new key as fob is a bit mangled. Change front grill to original and thats about it.
Cant wait for it to be finished. I believe they will go up in value in years to come. Especially N/A engines. Yours is looking amazing ❤
She’s back looking classy Matt. ❤ I’ve watched this video twice. You’ve spent money wisely on her, the new grill looks better, minor trim things need doing but like it, the new perfect spec wings were a Find 👌👍 needs a rubber LR heavy duty boot liner though 👌
I’m a massive L322 fan, currently have a 2011 4.4tdv8 in Grey which I think is the best colour for the last facelift, It replace my L405, but a older one it has to be green, very tempted to get a 4.4 petrol to Play with!!
BEEN WAITING FOR THIS VIDEO FOR AGES
I did wonder what you had done with this!
It’s looking good 👍🏼
I've just picked up an 08 supercharged with 120k miles.
It is mint other than the rear arches have started to go. I saw when buying it but I though that I could get it sorted at a bodyshop but I'm struggled to get one to look at it. They just didn't want to know.
I've managed to get a classic restorer who is going to inspect it and see how much needs cutting out.
It's got me really worried what I got myself into and has tarnished the first week of ownership.
Well Matt I need a spot on your show. I've one up'd you again this Week had another disaster. Just driving one of sale car a mk2 audi TT 3.2... as I'm driving I hear a bang under the car. I thought I'd drove over something but couldn't see anything in the mirror. 30 seconds later..... LOW OIL PRESSURE.... so I pulled over turned engine off. The sump was totally missing. I could see bottom of crank. Luckily the engine was running fine no knocking just before i switched it offso I think atleast the engine might of survived. What a week its on weds!! Love the motor trade!
Really is a tasteful spec. Don't think I've seen that colour before, the interior is perfectly matched to it as well. Bravo!
It is a very cool car Matt. Restoring it back to stock is the way to go !
Hi Matt I my mind everyone should buy a car they can afford, then look after it properly with servicing on time and everything fixed the moment it even looks like breaking, look after the tyres and wiper blades and with diesel cars give them a long run every month or so…..that’s what I do and after many years and many cars not a single one has ever broken down or ever let me down…..issues only occur when you can’t afford to maintain the car you own. Great vid lovely classy RR 😎
Hi Matt. Not gonna lie - I watch your videos and always admire what Jimmy does for you! Any chances you could share where I can find his bodyshop? I'm local and looking for a shop to get some stuff done.
Very nice car & colour.
I particularly like the beaded seats.
Love a massively overspent video matt
Royal Steering Wheels are the answer - retrimmed my Mk5 Golf GTI wheel and did a brilliant job.
6 years ago I bought a 2005 L320 (JLR) 4.4 HSE. I also took time & money to give it TLC (including underneath) .... Nice standard looking vehicle.... mine absent of bling.
Sadly sold due to change of then circumstances.
Was mode reliable than my E53 BMW X5 4.4I.
I miss both cars though.
Looks great Matt, I love these cars I think once you've owned one they are in your blood
The grill makes all the difference so much classier
Congrats! Looks really good.
Thanks
The green is looking really good on this one.
Harry Metcalfe and Jeremy Clarkson both run one of these so you're in good company. Nice car.
A bloke near me has the same model on a 57 plate. He has the super charged mesh additions with shiny metallic effect car mats and red hand painted lettering.. Silver paintwork. It looks absolutely shocking. You can imagine what his Missus looks like!
Really love the colour and spec on this Range Rover.
