  • My New 90G Seahorse Tank! Plus, Biota Captive-Bred Bonded Seahorses from LiveAquaria!
    Hey Guys!
    So I finally made the transfer of my 30G seahorse tank to my 90G and my ponies couldn't be happier!
    The tank is much cleaner, more spacious, and the seahorses and so much more room to prance around in.
    I also purchased a bonded pair of Biota Captive-Bred Erectus Seahorses from LiveAquaria. The are absolutely beautiful and a great addition to the family.
    I hope you enjoy the video and thank you for watching!

    Live fish used to be excellent quality and better guarantee when it was owned by DR. Fosters and Smith until big box store acquired it.

    Looks great. Not being rude just an observation but I would suggest feeding them a bit more. A few of them look to be a little on the thin side. They may be new additions to the tank and you may have said that and I didn’t catch it lol. From my experience, The more weight you can keep on them definitely increases their health and immune system. A larger mysis will really help. The Piscine Mysis are usually larger yet still soft enough for them to swallow until they get a little bigger. Other than that, beautiful Hippocampus erectus and tank set up. I’ve been keeping and breeding seahorse for over 20 years now and they are by far my favorite characters on our amazing planet.

      totally agree, and i dont think u are being rude,,, it is a clear observation,,, they do look alittle under fed,,, i can see from their behaviour they are looking for food,,, its great having an imaculate tank but these creatures are very slow feeders,, i know i reared young,, you need to feed more often with large mysis shrimp. i used to hatch off my own brime feed it up enhance it then drain/rince and drop it in live they absolutely love it

    Superb video again. This is one beautiful aquarium and the yellow seahorse 8:54 is stunning (of course all of your seahorses are beautiful)! Your mixture of zooxhantellate and azooxhantellate Gorgonias is excellent! I like the colors very much! I know it's a lot of work for you Mindi, but I am already looking forward for you next video :-)

    ive allways kept tropical and marine fish. i bought 2 seahorses they bred and i made my own rearing tank for them this was 16 years ago, trial and error, they do look alittle thin,, inbetween their boney plates is alittle sunken this means they arnt feeding very well,,, when theyve eaten the plates will bulge out,,, i like to see them like that not sunken

    When they start doing their "little dance", get ready for another full-time job (if you intend to raise the fry).
    Are you running a UV sterilizer on that system? If I did it over again, I'd definitely run UV.

    Any consideration to adding a few pipefish and a ruby red dragonet? You should also grow and raise copepods, amphipods and bribe shrimp and other plankton for maintenance. Tank is pretty cool. Did you get a nice home for those anglers?

    Too cool, I always wanted to do a seahorse and garden eel tank. Your setup looks great. I was surprised to see a clown fish in the tank, I would have thought that they were way too aggressive eaters to be in that type of setup but only saw it once during the time you were feeding the seahorses. Where you feeding it on the other side of the tank so that it would not disturb the seahorses?

    • @teresarusson5930
      @teresarusson5930 Рік тому

      clowne fish shouldnt be kept with seahorses,,, they cannot compete for food , the tank should be seahorse only and breeding pairs need 6ft as they seperate then meet up again in the early morning and do their partnership dance ,,, tank looks imaculate but i dont think the seahorses are fed well, or are trying to find/compete for food which they can never do,

  • @OliviaFlorence

    I love the big white coral that you have in the tank!! What is the name of it?? Thank you:)

  • @JimThomasOutdoors
    @JimThomasOutdoors 2 роки тому

    Do you turn off the circulation during feeding time ? If not you might give it a try. I think it would help keep the food closer to the pipe outlet for a bit longer giving the horses a better chance to catch a few more bites.

    • @MindisCoralReef
      @MindisCoralReef  2 роки тому

      Yes, water flow was always turned off during feeding. Thank you for your comment! 😊

  • @atfinthehouse8631
    @atfinthehouse8631 5 років тому

    Oops missed the reference to pipefish. They are touchy also. More likely the crab was doing what it does. Scavenge. Pipefish was probably already dead. A few small clown gobies would also be nice for that tank. Though a seahorse only tank is pretty impressive.

    I always wanted seahorses, but freshwater one's. Am not sure if they come in colours like the marine one's though. Maybe a little research and advice might help please. Do you require a license to keep freshwater seahorses ?
