Now that they got rid of the captains chairs upfront and added a real center console I will happily go get one. Thanks Joe for making my day and sharing this one.
this is an amazing SUV; but any vehicle over 40k should have heated AND cooled seats in the front. I shouldn't have to buy an Acura to get heated & cooled seats.
I completely agree….in the Deep South, it’s almost a safety feature. Dark car interiors get unbearably hot even with tinted windows and strategic parking in the shade.
Awesome. It’s perfect for a surfer like me. Don’t need a 3rd row family suv. Lots of room for my gear and I usually go with one other person on my trip. I currently have an Elite. The reliability is insane because I beat it up every weekend. This new one is awesome. I’m thinking about getting one but I have no problems at all with my current one at 130,000 miles and going strong.
We love our 23 Trailsport. My only gripe was the low center console and captains chair arm rests, but it looks like Honda did a great job fixing it. The seats are about the most comfortable I’ve ever had in a Honda.
2024 Passport still have the almighty “old” vtec that we all love. I will choice this over the new Pilot or the future Passport all day long because of the engine
A LOT of Honda and Toyota loyalists stuck around because of the bulletproof 4/6cyl engines both companies have been using for a very long time (mainly 6cyl for Toyota. Can't speak to their 4 bangers). It's going to be interesting to see what will happen when they go full electric. Their customer base mainly buys these cars for longevity purposes (my dads '06 Toyota Camry XLE has over 400k miles with ZERO issues save for routine maintenance and suspension improvements). Something tells me they're going to need to continue making ICE vehicles indefinitely - at least for SOME models - and I hope so.
I am ready for the redesign. I'd like to see more legroom. Especially in the second row. It would make it so much more comfortable on longer trips. The tech needs modernized too!
Honda is not a forward thinking manufacturer. It’s shocking to see that they are actually putting in some effort to attractive modern-ish designs. Maybe they will catch up in other areas as well someday. Otherwise, Honda just gets by on their engine reputation.
@@LionRunner I think I would have that turned off. Not sure if it would void the warranty, and I know gas mileage would suffer. But if planning on keeping this vehicle for 150K or longer I would definitely look into having it turned off.
We had the Passport Sport before. It was a good car, more convenient than the Pilot. Honda is about to redo the Password and the Ridgeline based on the new Pilot. Great video Joe!
When are they supposed to redo the Passport? I find the Passport to already look just like a smaller version of the Pilot. I’m trying to decide if I should buy this year or next year.
My 2021 Passport Elite was $46,500. 20 inch wheels, heated and ventilated front seats and heated rear seats. Heated mirrors and steering wheel . Love the 3.5, 280 hp engine with 9 speed transmission. 0-60 in 5.7 when in the sport mode. Rear seats have there own heat and air conditioning controls. Plenty of power ports and a 115 volt outlet. Lots of storage. Actually more than my 2006 Pilot. 6 inches shorter over all but the same wheel base as the Pilot.
Was there a refresh for the 2024 Passport Elite? You mentioned panoramic sun roof for different trim, is that the Elite trim? Also when is the release date? Thanks!
Hey Joe. Thank you for your nice review. Is it the car that fits 3 adults comfortably in the 2nd row or there are better options that are quieter than this car as well?
2023+ Pilot is now DOHC without VTEC and 5 more HP, stead of SOHC on the Passport. Bore, stroke, and compression are the same. Better, worse? Who knows?
Great review, as always Joe. No ventilated seats, no AC controls in the back, ground clearance is probably the same as 2023 year, which is 8.2 inches, infotainment system is a bit small, needs to have full size spare tire. I think i'll pass.
I'm glad I bought a 2023 Passport Elite with the arm rests. As a 5' 5" woman with shorter legs, shorter arms I haven't found a center console high enough and long enough to provide me arm/elbow support when driving since my 1996 Ford Explorer. The arm rests on the passport help with multiple ortho surgeries and the flat area on the console was winner for me - easy to place items for quick trips there for accessibility and made a great place to put my fast food bags, doggie bags, etc. Like my Passport but new one doesn't do anything for me - so my 2023 will likely be my last.
I kept hearing that the Passport and Ridgeline were due to get the slightly upgraded 285 hp engine on the new Pilot and the 10-speed transmission, but it sounds like we are stuck with the older V6/trans combination for at least another year. The infotainment doesn't look updated like the Pilot or Accord. Is it any faster? The infotainment is already 5 years old and needs to be brought forward. HPD packages just seem like a waste with them being almost all cosmetic except for more rugged tires, and the wheel covers are pretty darn ugly. Great review, Joe and Lori!
FLAVOR FLAAAAVVV!!! That takes me back with the Turbo Graphics 16 and of course “Hang On” & “Pole Position” on Sega Master System! Blessings to to you Joe and Lori! Keep it coming!
Console could use a redesign, but this is a great SUV. I've had a 4Runner and this is much better for everyday driving. Although, the new 4Runner may change that opinion. But I'm sure the new 4Runner will be several thousand dollars more than the Passport and without the same accessories as standard.
Is the center console high enough to rest your arm comfortably? I'm probably the minority on this, but I actually like the adjustable armrest the 23's have due to an old injury from a wreck. My console/arm rest on my 2016 hrv isn't really that comfortable.
This thing looks like the Mom Edition from the outside. The Passport is Honda's chance to take more chances with creativity and really go for the off road and camping market...but It looks like and oddly shaped CRV

Definitely worth waiting to check out the 2025 Passport redesign though. I heard in 2025 they are going to go with the 10 speed transmission (currently used in the Pilot). Moreover, I can't understand why Honda still uses timing belts instead of chains. It means having to spend a couple thousand dollars changing the belt at about 80k miles. Not an issue with chains. It would be nice if they surprised us by using timing chains next year (I know. Not going to happen). I heard they are redoing the interior too. The larger and newer display will be welcome. A better sound system and speakers would be wonderful. Losing the push button gear shift would be a plus too. I can't wait to see what they offer with the new design.
