At 61 I was ready for my first SUV. Purchased a 2024 Passport Blk Edition. Love it. Two rows is all the wife and I need. Two weens in the back (crate) and we can go anywhere (not Forerunner anywhere but what we do this is great). Are there more vehicles with more luxury, sure? This PP works great for us (normally an Audi family) I wanted the V6, no CVT and 5000 lbs towing capacity which you don't get with a 2.0 turbo 4 cyl. So enjoy the ride folks. I love my PP Blk Edition.
The Passport is a CUV, not an SUV. It’s basically a jacked up wagon. The V6 is held together with a rubber timing belt and is a ticking time bomb. The engine becomes a paper weight when it breaks. Belts should never run cams or oil pumps.
Great review. Helps with my decision to give the Passport a serious look. The Passport now only comes in AWD and the armrests on the front seats have been eliminated in favor of a larger center console cover to use as armrests.
Is that mileage limit only or a time limit as well? I'm pretty sure my wife will never get to 100K miles in out new Passport lol. (Under 9000 miles in 3 years in her last car.) UPDATE: I read further down it's 100K miles or 7 years.
I have a 2022 Hond Passport TrailSport with 37K miles. One terrible thing mine has is the steering wheel shake/ vibration. It can be seen and felt. It started from the day I purchased it brand new. The dealer would not do anything about it stating it was normal. So around 9K miles, I changed the tires, hoping the shake would disappear. That didn't help. Around 24K miles, I changed rotors. That didn't help either. I balance the wheels every 5K miles, but the steering wheel shake/ vibration is still there. It is especially noticeable after hard acceleration. I have taken the vehicle to two mechanics, and they could not find the problem. The shaking is so annoying. However, the car drives in a perfectly straight line so the alignment is good. The tires are worn evenly, so I have no idea what's causing the steering wheel shake. I had a 2021 Pilot and it did not have this steering wheel shake. Otherwise, I love the looks, comfort, and driving dynamics of my Passport. I would definitely buy it again.
are you sure that's not the lane departure warning? I thought something was terribly wrong the first time I took a Passport for a test drive. The steering wheel would shake and I thought I would lose control. Turns out the car was warning me to stay in my lane.
I owned a new 2011 and then 2016 Pilot. Both decent vehicles. Now own a 2021 Passport Elite. Great vehicle and a little quicker than my Pilots were even though they have the same basic drive train. In sport mode and paddle shifting 0- 60 in 5.8 seconds if you know how to utilize it. Cornering is excellent at speed on interstate Ramps. Best mpg (27.6) seems to be at 77 mph. Just turned 32,000 and no problems. I do think they should upgrade the brakes. With a full load driving through Chattanooga and the mountains the brakes shudder slightly when braking going down hill. Definitely did not fade though. Will keep buying this vehicle as long as they offer the 3.5 V-6.
I have a 2020 Passport Touring awd with 25k on it and my leather seats still look new. I don't agree with you on the mini van look on the older style. This August I will have mine 4 years and its been great. The only problem I had was a failed headlamp unit that happened early and it was replaced and no problems since. The Passport is a great highway vehicle. I don't people really know how good this vehicle is, because they should be selling more.
Thanks for sharing! My comment about the minivan look was just an opinion, that's all. I completely agree with you- the Passport is an excellent highway vehicle and performs its job very well.
I own a 2023 Honda passport EXL the car works great. I love it that my only negative about it is the wireless phone charger char for 124 minutes then stops charging and charges again. I’ve explained this to the dealership and they just tell me it works for the service tech and that’s maybe I have an old phone. I have iPhone 12 Pro Max my mother has a iPhone 15 Pro and it doesn’t Stay charged consistently.
MY leather seats in my CRV started to wear on the drivers side at around 15k.I weigh 140lbs.I'v learned over the years that Hondas bruise easily.Whether it's the carpeting or the interior moldings etc.
85000 miles in 3 years. I changed the tires and the battery. Not even changed the brake pads or rotors. I have never been to the garage for a a repair. I will definitely buy another Passport in the future.
I’ve been debating whether I should keep it or not but after watching your video, I am leaning more towards keeping the car as it has all the things I need and fun to drive!

I had the same issue with the leather driver seat on my 2011 accord EX-L V6 and the heated seats barely got warm. Also, the interior does not look much different than my accord. Seems like Honda is using the same supplier.
Good vid for Passport owners. I bought a new 2023 Elite model and it has no wireless car play. It seems odd that Honda would make the wireless available on your 2022 and then take it away in 2023?
Thanks for sharing! I wanted to clarify something from the video. I was discussing the wireless phone charger, but I should also mention that the Apple CarPlay connection in my 2022 Passport is wired.
Looks are subjective. I prefer the front end of the previous version and dislike the new truck-like front end look. I actually bought a 2021 when I saw what the 2022 looked like. I never once looked at my 2021’s front end and thought “looks like a minivan”. Also, those cargo size numbers are official stats from Honda, but Honda had changed its calculation method. The previous official stats were more realistic: 41.2 cubic feet behind the 2nd row and 77.9 cubic feet with the 2nd row folded down. Things I love about the Passport: -Really agile and fast for a big vehicle that can carry a ton. -Honda’s V6 is generally reliable. Things I don’t like: -Gas hog. You have to drive like a grandpa to beat 20 mpg. -I really wish Honda could have gotten rid of cylinder de-activation and start-stop. These damage engine long-term reliability, which is a real shame because Honda’s V6 is one of the best ever made. Yeah, they had to do it to keep the V6 while meeting regulations, but it still sucks.
It is just a flickering effect in the video caused by a difference between the screen's refresh rate and my camera's frame rate. So the screens are fine :) Thanks for your question!
Thank you for your comment and a compliment! No, it is not a defect. A thing is that the LED daytime running lights flash in videos because they turn on and off really fast, faster than our eyes can see, but the camera catches it, making them look like they’re flickering.
We are looking for a camping vehicle. We are both approaching 60. That 100cb ft has got me curious as Im 6'3" and ground sleeping is not an option for my wifes knees. :) I like your review a lot. What year was the model change?
2019 was first year, 2022 was the facelift (new front end) as well as introduction of Trailsport trim, 2024 had some minor interior improvements (better wireless charger, different center console)
I believe the Passport would meet your needs. I have a 2020 AWD Elite and I love that the back seats fold completely flat, so you can put down an air or foam mattress. I'm 6'1" and, while I haven't slept in my vehicle, I know that I can put a foldable foam mattress in the back that I have slept on in the house. I just went out and measured. With the front seats in a normal position, it's 75" of available space between the tailgate and the back of the front seats. With the front seats moved fully forward, it's about 84" of available space. But with the front seats fully forward, you have a large gap between the top of the folded back seat and the back of the front seat that you would have to deal with somehow. (A piece of plywood? A small storage box?) You could also go to a dealer with a tape measure and see if you can crawl into the back and fit.
Well I was considering the Passport but I don't want leather again. I have a touring CR-V and the leather is awful and I hate it. So I guess it's on to a different model
2022 Honda Passport Elite. Wish I had 18s instead of 20's for a softer ride. NE Roads are abysmal anyway. V6, plenty of sporty HP, 5k towing, not a CVT, and not a Hybrid. Probably one of the last V6's Honda puts out as the mileage is barely 20 avg.
Good question! In our area, the last time we had snow was four years ago-and it was just an inch that lasted a couple of days. The Passport handles that and even more challenging snowy conditions, like those in Snowshoe, WV, just fine. If I had more demanding missions in mind for this vehicle, I definitely would’ve opted for AWD. For now, FWD fits my needs perfectly. Thanks for your comment!
I have 2014 acura rdx which is not much diffrent from this car. Especilally the engine has not changed much (3.5L V6) other than minor tweak depending on the model. Good overall and never had any issue to fix, other than defective front brake rotor, that honda replaced for free the first time (the rotor is fixed after 2 years production).
Ugh! That leather! Experienced that in my 2014 Acura RDX. Quite disappointed, and I even used conditioner on the seats. I guess I'll be keeping my '22 CX-9.
I have a 2023 Honda Passport Trailsport. The 0-60 specs are full of crap. I test drove a few before I bought mine and none were anywhere close to a 6 sec 0-60. More like 8-10 seconds at best. The worst part about the car by far is the horrible infotainment system and the poorly designed, and far too small instrument cluster. Far too much flipping through screens on the cluster to get at info that should be always displayed on the home screen, like a compass. Gas mileage on long trips has been exceptional. I live in South FL and I've had to drive to Indiana a few times. 24-25mpg both ways, and that was without eco mode. Was very happy about that. City mileage here in FL is about 16-18mpg
My best friend had a 20/20 elite and it was incredible I thought and then one day at church I couldn't find his car to take me home then he said well I've got a new one he got the Santa Fe limited 2025 and I was blown away by how much better it was than the passport honestly a Hyundai was better than a Honda and about 12 grand more

I bought 2023 Passport, for 42K, sold it 11 months later for 31K..

I'm 6'4" and 240lbs and found the CzR-V too big....😮
The Passport isn't even for sale in my country...
@@j.r.arnolli9734 thanks for your comment! Where exactly do you live?
@@HondaInsider /
Europe.
We have the HR-V, known as Vezel in Japan.
The HR-V, sold in the US, is also for sale in Europe, but is called ZR-V.
Leather should be taken care off. Dry leather will produce wrinkles. Use dedicated car leather wipes to keep it moisturized and soft.
It identifies as a 4x4 but it’s really an accord
Same here wireless charging and seat quality is not good
Yes my leather is wrinkling at 18k miles
I like how 20 inch rims and a sunroof are wanted by people instead of all wheel drive. Just get a van.
I bought 2023 Passport, for 42K, sold it 11 months later for 31K.. It was a lemon, auto-off didnt work, wiper fluid leaked out of the hood, the engine was weak, transmission jerked when shifting at low speeds. We have a 2022 Pilot, same engine, never had an issue with it.. I would avoid the Passport.
And a foot brake.
Crafted inthe shadows...
All thats left is to cam it up
The seats are not real leather that’s the problem for all the wrinkles and wear.
Nice👍🏼
Thanks ✌
I get it, you love your Honda. But please don't market this video as an Honest review. No surprise with this review as the page is Honda Insider and the first paid commercial was from Honda. C'mon man, the whole video, even the "negatives" sounded like a Honda commercial. I'll look elsewhere for "honest" reviews.
@@nwiedwald if you expected me to say that it is a piece of sh*t, sorry, I don’t think so. My experience suggested me a different conclusion.I was indeed honest in my video, the rest is your own perception which you’re welcomed to have.
@@nwiedwald and by the way, no one paid me. Honda commercial comes up based on your search and watch history.
Earth is flat
No dual zone….For that reason, I’m out. Oh, and that front end is FUGLY.
There is a dual zone in the front and only a single zone in the rear. And yeah, the front isn't very pretty.
Three minutes in and I have not been told shit.
Too much fluff just get to the point the review.
If you want to check one out and you live in Ohio come see me!
