    I thank you so much for this video. This past Monday I went to a comb over clipper cut class and the things you’ve addressed in this video are the questions I wanted to ask. I did not know how to form my questions for the instructor to understand; but this video gave me exactly what I needed. Again thanks.

    what guard do u use to trim down the hairline

    • @XGeNCashmanD
      @XGeNCashmanD 5 років тому +9

      Depends on the hair and the length. If you noticed with the curly hair he went against the hairline with a 2 closed then followed with going with the grain with a 1 open. This can also be used with fades to create smoother transitions.you can go with the grain a half step HALF STEP lower than what you wentbaginst it with 1 against (lever closed) 1/2 guard (lever open ) can be used to remove dark spots smooth area out for a cleaner cut. Useca light touch at first if you feel apprehensive you know what you want to do and create so believe to acheive your desired results

      @@bthebarber916 no problem man just trying to release the knowledge.helpcto who will help you. Once you get comfortable you can elimanate the half guard during smoothing by angling no guard almost in a raking motion (also the 1 1/2) by following the same principles with the 1xguard open closed doesnt matter its all about tilt im working on it (kinda meets a 1
      1/2 open )

    What # guard would you use on the clipper to trim down the hair line bulk before lining up?

    • @KevvThaw
      @KevvThaw  5 років тому +2

      It all depends on density. If it’s very high density(thick) use a smaller guard (I.e. #1), if it’s a very low density(thin) use a larger one (I.e. #2).

    when doing the shape up, after you start in the middle, do you go to the high side or low side first?? also u should have done an edge up w sideburns tutorial

    • @KevvThaw
      @KevvThaw  5 років тому +3

      Mike high side is best. You set that side so you don’t have to come back to it, and push the lower side back incrementally until it’s matched. Doing the low side first isn’t ideal cuz it causes too much back and forth.

    • @XGeNCashmanD
      @XGeNCashmanD 5 років тому

      Shaver tips= never NEVER use it on curly texture i dont care how light your touch id. Don't do it EVER. STRAIGHT RAZOR pull the v damn life out the skin if you new id rather have the client be uncomfortable than cut them. Stretch they face the f out. Start with the C CUP and front line first add in cheek neckline goatee mustache and neck. IN THAT ORDER! A CONSISTANT pull makes consistant cuts. Start with time strokes anywhere for a 35"to 45 degree angle multiple methods for holding the blade. I like to hold it in s L formation with the pinky and ring finger behind the. Armature of the cutting blade. Watch other's hands on. Practice makes perfecf

      The Prodigy I do

    • @KevvThaw
      @KevvThaw  5 років тому +1

      The Prodigy typically with straight hair I go against more times than not. The shape of the curly haired client’s head allowed for me to go against with a high guard. I went with the grain as I came down.
      So
      straight =against
      Curly = with
      Most times.
