I enjoy all of your content, the extreme high cost builds are fun to see what you do with them but I'm really glad you're including these budget setups. It's pretty awesome to see what a difference some inexpensive mods can make.
i must give you credit, even though you didnt have much nice to say about the ax24 at first, you have really been the only person who has consistently produced content around it. your mods are the best. I have been typing "ax24 mods" into my search engine every day since I got mine, and your videos are the only new ones that pop up. I just ordered my beetle body. thanks
Thanks Matt! I was so unimpressed with this out of the box that it's been sitting since the first couple of runs. I think you've given me hope and some motivation to get modifyin'...!

Nice work! I just took mine out for its first run today with only a tire/wheel swap, and a dab of grease in the shocks and it did surprisingly well. Next up its getting a little brass, custom links and a mofo torquebeast.

Yeah anywhere inside the shock. It gets pretty nasty when the slime starts working it’s way out and dirt gets mixed with it but it works. Did it back when there were no other shock options for the scx24s.

Hey Matt... this was an awesome video!!! Definitely gonna get one i.d these now and this video was perfect to help me hey started with it!!! I have a cool idea for a video!! While you still have your stock AX24, do you happen to have any stock SCX24s? It would be cool if you did a shoot out between the AX24 and some SCX24s .to see which one is the all around best performance right out of the box... We're well past stock trucks at this point... but it would still be a fun video to see which one is the all time best straight out of the box.
I tried to put a samix 050 motor in and I guess it pulls too many amps and I lost all low range control :( I went with the rampcrab servo system as well. Solid servos for the cash.
Wouldn’t the lizard pro help with the “Binding” that the stock electronics are plagued with? I see an ax24 in my future, but would have too immediately upgrade too avoid that issue. Trying my buddies dad’s the other day, you can feel the potential that the rear steer adds, but that throttle being an off on switch/unpredictable 1/2-3/4 throttle before it lurches and screws up the line, killed it for me out of the box 🤷🏻♂️ I’m addicted though, and after my 1/10 shows up I’ll keep throwing money at the little guys! Take care, I’m now subbed!
!!!--For mod'ing the stock links to high clearance: Take them off and use a couple nails through the ball end holes to pin them down to a piece of wood. This will keep the hole distance the same and let you push a bend into the plastic with heat from a heat gun or if you're super careful with a small butane torch (Tin foil heat shield might help to avoid burning the plastic). Could also try heating, then dropping the links onto the nails and bending. Make a bump stop for where you want the bend to stop and blow on the part to cold it down and hold it's new shape. The bump stop will make it easy to repeat the bends accurately. Try to use a nail that will fit in the ball end hole snug enough that the ball ends stay in the same orientation with each other.
Good content and nice mods. I put the Mofo motor and Lizard Pro in mine along with some brass in the right places. I took the springs off the shocks right away and that helped also. I was thinking about just doing the pen spring mod inside the shock. Do you think that would do about the same as the springs you used from the kit you ordered?
Unless I am missing something in this setup but none of the pen springs I tried were small enough to not allow the shaft to slip through. I tried several different springs from clickers.
@@joelhaselow yeah that’s why I used the springs I purchased. It’s very hard to find the correct spring in a pen. We use pen springs for 1/10s a lot but it’s much harder to find a small enough spring for these tiny shocks.
