Internal spings! Brilliant. I bought a set of the AX24 shocks today to run my scx24 ultra4 printed build. I like the idea of not having rubber bands as my limiting straps.
Yeah I’m not a big fan of the rubber bands either. Just don’t like the look. These shocks are really good with the internal springs. I’ll probably use them on a few builds!
I tried your mod and it worked great. I went from brass and stock shocks at 50 degrees to 59 with your mod. I took 2 springs and cut them in half and did it to my modded scx24 and went from 59 to 62.
That’s awesome shock mod, Yep Matt we’re here watching. I do like the new AX 24 but I just ordered the trail hunter can’t wait to get it and I did order the oil shocks for it
I just got my ax24 in the mail yesterday and came across your channel subbed straight away. I’m new to all this and you’re a great teacher happy holidays and stay safe. Thanks heaps 🎄🎅🏼
@@shawnrichardson118 I appreciate it! You lose the amount of travel that the spring fully compressed takes up so you lose a bit of travel. Not too noticeable since these trucks have so much travel anyway. I usually prefer a bit less flex so it worked out well for me.
I’ve come to your video really late ( video was released over 1 year ago). Where do you get the small springs to fit inside the shocks? Any help would be appreciated. Awesome videos, keep it up.
@@timmybikester2309 hey! Better late than never lol. This is where I got them. I think the size is in the video. Can’t remember it off hand a.aliexpress.com/_mr1OVPM
What do you think about the hbx devastator? Is it any good or is it trash? Would you ever do a review on it? Would like to see it on one of your courses
I just got my springs in finally for this mod and they don’t work like yours. The shock body is tapered at the bottom and the spring compresses to the bottom and stays there. Unfortunately AX build has been a nightmare from day one lol. Everything I’ve done or tried to do to it has been a major pain in the a$$
Where would u mount the upper links? Ax skids only mount 2 lower links. Upper links mount higher up. I did use a brass Scx24 on my AX24 build. It doesn’t line up perfectly but it does work great. That’s when I learned the diff.
Kinda depends what size you’re looking for. The new proline baja pro x are great. LGRP swamp kings, ogrc pin tires, proline trenchers,Injora 62mm. Those are all really good options imo
.2x3mmx20mm is the spring I used. Some people will put a dab of slime or grease in the stock shocks to help them not be so bouncy but they won’t hold oil. They have no seals in them.
Yeah the chassis and electronics of it are a mystery to me. Chassis layout is outdated and I can even deal with that but the electronics I feel like they went with the cheapest esc they could do 4ws with easily. I’m enjoying them but feel like they should’ve did a lot of things differently.
Axial isn’t stupid … they know it’s an easy cash grab on a scale that’s hot right now. I don’t like it, but I get why they did it. Playing off the nostalgia of their extremely loyal fan base.
Yeah ordering them is the best bet. It’s hard to find the perfect spring in the pens. I’ve found some for other shocks but it’s kinda tough to get the perfect fit.
Glad to see you got them to perform. I still think the body is ugly, the wheels look so big it looks like a toy, and it bobbles like a bobble head doll. I don’t care how good something performs if it doesn’t look good doing it. 😁I’d rather put FWS on a better looking rig and save some cash. It offers not real value to me.
I appreciate it! I really didn’t think it was for me either but the more I mess with it the more I’m enjoying it. Kinda fun to see what I can make out of it. It’s the newest toy lol. That new will wear off eventually 🤘
To be fair I always order at least 2 of everything 1/24. Much easier for testing. I just ended up with the other one because I wanted to get started on videos a bit sooner. I am enjoying them though. Like I’ve told others…. I wasn’t really excited about them in my “pre-run thoughts” video but since receiving mine I’m actually enjoying them. Maybe it’s just the newest toy but I’m having fun seeing what I can do with them! I don’t think I should lie and hide what I’m enjoying just to stick with the thoughts I had on something before I even had it in hand. Should i? Is that what people really want? So I let people know I’m enjoying it and get to modding lol
I think he did what most true CC’s do. You buy them to make content … and sometimes something surprises you. Personally I still hate them but if I were a CC I’d probably have done the same. lol
I should probably not buy anything new and just stop making videos on new stuff entirely. Can’t buy just one when you plan to compare mods unless you wanna be like a lot of the others out there that just say a mod works great and you’re supposed to take their word for it. I like to show how each mod works vs stock so it’s much easier to have multiple trucks. Also if you watched my last video on them you’d hear that I actually kinda like them after getting mine. So if my opinion flips on something should I just lie about it and go on? I shouldn’t actually tell people how I feel about anything? Once I make a “pre run thoughts”video on it that should just be the only opinion I have on it? Pretend that I never make a mistake or change my mind? Or should I let my opinion on something be known and keep messing with what I’m enjoying? Maybe I should’ve asked you what to buy? Idk? What’s the answer here BUD? I had almost quit running my scx24s completely until this came out and it’s kinda brought me back to them. I’m kinda thankful for that honestly. Fact is it’s the new thing and we all love new toys!

All I did to mine were weighted treal wheels, +5 hub extensions, and 58mm rear high clearance links with 39mm upper links and it’s a ripper
I just got one and I took all the springs of the shocks and added alittle greases to the shocks works freaking awesome
Great video. Just picked mine up today from HobbyTown, Arlington, TX.
Just looked at those brass knuckles today. Got the skid plate and new emax servos.
There are much cheaper options for the knuckles honestly.
@2FM RC I have a spare set of the treal ones so I will most likely just get another set for the rear.
Nice upgrade. Mine will be here Saturday
Hey.. genius mod .. never would have thought about a reversed set up like that 👍
Good old pen spring mod. Works great. Keeps the front end from unloading for better climbing.👍🏼
Yep! Been doing it on the 1/10s forever lol
@@2fmrc Man I had this little ordered then cancelled. Figured I I have enough minis already.May have to put it on order again. Looks fun.

If I had some place that I could Comp I would probably grab one of these to have a Class 1 24th scale to complement my class 2 & 3 builds.
I guess I really don't know SORRCA rules so I don't know if a 4WS is a class 1, so now I am wondering if anyone will downgrade these to a 2WS.

When I click the link for the springs. There is a couple options before buying. What exact spring sizes are they
Cool video 👍😎
Great vidoes man keep em coming
Thanks! Really appreciate it!
What is the name of the tool you used to hold the shock?
Just a shock shaft tool. Works great for shocks and rod ends etc. A must have on larger scale trucks for sure!

is there a non-sketchy place to get the springs other than Ali Express?
