  • Here's the past week's worth of work I've gotten done on my F450 project truck.
I moved the F450 to the back yard and moved my red 99 Lariat into the garage so I could strip the interior to remove the wiring harnesses and dash.
I moved the F450 back in and you can see it's a little too heavy for my tractor keeping the front wheels in the air so I steer by braking with the side I want the tractor steer towards.
I decide to use gray components for my interior so I had to strip the skin off the lariat dash and used the gray skin from my XL dash.
Then I combined several steering wheels so I could have tilt steering and black trim.
Upfitter switches from the F450 were installed, but it's causing some fitment problems with the dash. I'll figure it out, I'm sure.
While editing the video, I realized I forgot to run the hood release cable back thru the firewall so I will have to pull the PCM and the parking brake assembly to connect that cable. Wonderful!
I'll be making videos of the project, so stay tuned and hopefully I won't get too far behind.

Yes it is, but while the fuel costs are high and freight rates low I'm investing my time in this truck. I had already spent around $6K on an engine build so add a few more $K to that and I have a truck that would have cost me $25-30K to buy.

How much did you had to spend for all of that?

I paid just under $2500 for the truck at an auction. I haven't spent any other money on the project - yet. I was already rebuilding a 7.3 so that cost will be added to the project if I complete it. The rebuild will be $7 - 8000. And then I will need a 48" sleeper, tires, brake pads, paint for the frame etc. But the project is on hold for now as it appears that I will be buying a semi in the near future and would not need the F450 for my business in that case.
