  • Replacing the fan clutch on my 1999 F350 with the legendary 7.3 Power Stroke. Also a short discussion on checking the automatic transmission fluid level.
Clutch fan nut = 1.870" . A 1-7/8" (1.875") open end wrench should be fine.
Spacing across the water pump pully bolts = 2.143". Nearest size wrench would be 55mm (2.165).
A 2-5.32" (2.1625") or a 2-3/16" (2.1875") open end wrench should do, but the jaw has to be at least as deep as it is wide. The tool I made from 1/4" x 4" flat bar measures 2.143" wide and it's a snug fit.

A fellow hotshot UA-camr is about to replace his water pump on his 7.3. I remembered capturing this footage so I decided to do a quick compile and upload so he could see what's involved in removing the fan clutch. Look in the description for the wrench sizes you will need to loosen the fan clutch.
