Ford Fuel lock ring wrench 310-123 tool. Ford Freestyle

Attempting to change sending units by removing fuel locking ring Ford tool 310-123 or 6599 from OTC. Edit: use a LONG pipe on breaker bar to break loose. Don't be shy, give it hell.

You ever get it out? This is going to be me tonight on my '05 Freestyel. Tool came in yesterday. I may use a 3/8 impact gently on it if a breaker bar doesn't work.

Yes I used a breaker bar with a cheater pipe and gave it hell, not fearing if I would break something and it worked lol

@@sslavik03 hah, I came home from work and figured I'd try the tool. Took a gnarly twist, but it popped off. New sending unit it. Took no more than 10m. done. Tomorrow I do the fuel pump side.

did eventually get the ring to break loose. 3ft breaker bar with a pipe on it. The Tool works!

I had the same issue about 5 years ago.. My Dealer's Service Advisor (who I have a GREAT relationship with) suggested using a can of Chevron Techron and see what happens before changing out the unit. While I am NOT a fan of aftermarket additives, my sending unit DID start working again and I still have not changed them out.
BTW: I'm now at 193,000 miles on my 2005 Freestyle and have had very few issues

For all you people watching this video warning what this man is doing is very dangerous he is using two screwdrivers what you need to use is a brass punch because if you hit a spark it’s over or use the correct tool for it

Thanks the drivers side seems to be only the float indicator sending unit and not an internal pump. I am so glad since the fuel level is fine.
