Great work on the video ! The sound with the the phone is impressive they make flying a drone so easy. Once they reduce the noise by 50% it's a hell of drone for lots of people.
27.48, If memory serves me correctly the Spark multi charger would charge all 3 barrettes at once. A lot of features in the Neo were also included in the 2017 Spark, these controller free features were discontinued after the original Mavic air as no one at that time seemed to use them once the initial novelty had worn off, imagine where we would be now if they had continued to develop them over the last 7 years. I am really looking forward to these new AI advances being included in the Mini 5 pro and Air 3S/4.

Not expecting miracles, although your outdoor footage looks pretty decent, better than the couple other reviews I've watched on this drone. Tempted to get this little thing just for some fun.
Another great professional video. I am handicapped and use my zero turn mower to get around in my yard, and like the way the Neo cancels the sound of the drone and the mower and only records my voice. It may not be perfect, but it is better than anything I had before which was nothing... 😎 I like flying the Neo because if I destroy it, I can get another one. Can't say that about the Mavic 3. I doubt that DJI will upgrade this drone very much as I expect the the new Flip to be an improved version to be released early next year. I am hoping for side sensors and a better camera. I don't think it needs a three axis gimbal as the stabilization does a great job.
Thanks for sharing your usage. I think the NEO will be one of the most popular drones DJI has made and I would not be surprised that if in 2025 we will see the NEO PRO.

I’ve just watched your vlog on the new DJI Neo, excellent as usual, but you didn’t comment on the process of downloading the video footage with the audio recorded on the phone. I’ve just bought a Neo and the only way that I can find to download load video and audio together is to download to my phone through the app and then download from the phone into my editing software. It’s an awfully clunky option…..Is there a better way? It would be great if I could download directly to my iMac as I do with the video part of the package…
You just have to power on the drone (let it start up), plug a USB C into the back of the drone and the other end into your computer. Your computer will see the drone as an EXTERNAL DRIVE. You'll then see all the VIDEO, PHOTO and AUDIO files. The AUDIO files are.MP4 files. If you use simple editing software you can sync the video and audio files since they are the same length. If you want the DJI SOFTWARE to do it for you, then you have to download it first to your phone (the video & audio are sync'd) , then from phone to computer
Is no one gonna bring up that they completely dropped a drone not mentioning it’s a preorder and only after I placed my order with dji was I alerted it releases in a month… Dji app states absolutely nowhere that it is a preorder.
Excellent video. Honest and pragmatic. I'm a hobbiest and have just purchased a Neo. I don't really care that the footage competes with Stephen Spielberg! For family vacations and other personal stuff it'll be fantastic i'm sure. I previous invested in Insta360 cameras and GoPro Heros. All of them have been fantastic and more than adequate for a home user like me.
This is the drone I’ve always wanted from DJI. I love the idea of a super tiny drone, and I love that it’s like a mini Avata. Also, the fact it has the follow and spotlight AI features is just so handy for showing people your environment quickly. I don’t need it for anything professional or competitive and just enjoy flying. The batteries for it are also so cheap that I really don’t mind the 16 minute flight time. It’s a fantastic little vehicle.
It really is the perfect drone for casual flying. I believe DJI will sell a LARGE number of these at Christmas and my guess is that by the summer or even spring, you’ll see DJI pushing out the NEO PRO.
Amazing review, very informative and I just purchased one. Quick question, if you are using the controller will it still land automatically if there is low lighting?
I've done some testing, the DB levels are not that high to be fair but what I have established is the pitch of the noise is so high to help the app auto remove the prop noise when your talking into the app. This does manifest itself as being loud, the truth is it's only 3db louder than the ITSY fpv, the issue is the pitch of the noise profile for auto removal.
With DJI being as advanced as they are,why can't they kill the shrill screaming.Decibels are one thing, but really....the pitch is horrendous. Nothing like drawing Karen's attention. It must cost a lot more to develop a quieter prop.
Loving the depth of your video review! Wondering how the DJI Neo works with DJI RC from the Mavic Mini 3 Pro? Trying to avoid flight with RC's that use phone. I would rather get an RC with the screen and fly the Neo around. Thank you again for an incredibly detailed video. I especially loved how you mentioned it doesn't have object avoidance, yet it fly's in the same steps as it's following the user. Is that because it's tracking your phone or remote or?
I wish there was some videos on youtube showing how far the drone can fly when using the smartphone and what happens when getting out of range. Haven’t seen any so far :( I’m thinking of replacing my mavic mini 1 and as outdoor youtuber space is key, my backpack is always so full, i would love not taking an extra remote if the manual shots using the smartphone are acceptable. Both in terms of control smoothness and distance. I am not interested to make shots of myself for those manual controls
The reason there are no videos is because when you fly with a SMARTPHONE, the range is based on the SMARTPHONE in your hand. So if I have an old SAMSUNG phone and you have the latest greatest iPhone, you'll get better range. Range would not exceed 30 to 50 meters.
Another great great that is intuitive and helpful. I’m thinking of buying a Neo with the remote but have a Samsung Ford phone. Do you know if the fold fits in the remote? Also heard that there had been software issues in the fly app with Samsung, are you able to shed any light on this? Many thanks. Mark
Great review Steve best I’ve seen so far 👍 Question how did you get it to take off and fly in your front yard when it said it was a restricted zone? Can you over ride it and say it’s ok to fly with caution?
Hi. Really love the way you explain things. I'm thinking of buying the NEO for when I go canoe camping. I Think the follow mode will grate to experience at different hights. I have ONe Question. Is there a way to have the go back home in low batterie follow the cell phone instead of the gps coordinates? I'm asking because the way I see it, I'll be moving forward in my canoe so it will be no use for me it lands far behind me... Thanks for your time answering, Keep up the great word!!
Nope. What most people do in your situation is place the NEO on shore (wherever you are canoeing), launch it using a remote controller, then have it follow the canoe. When the battery gets low it will fly back to shore and land. The other option is you launch it from the canoe (without a remote), have it follow you, and ensure that at 10 mins or less, you get your canoe & hand under it for landing. The only warning is that a canoe sits low in the water which means the NEO would fly low, and the sensors on the bottom don’t like light reflecting off water and they get confused… so it may crash into the water.

Is no one gonna bring up that they completely dropped a drone not mentioning it’s a preorder and only after I placed my order with dji was I alerted it releases in a month… Dji app states absolutely nowhere that it is a preorder.
@@DRONE-SHOTZ Pre-order? I simply walked into my local BESTBUY on the day it launched and picked one up. I'm in Canada. Where are you ordering from?
Excellent video. Honest and pragmatic. I'm a hobbiest and have just purchased a Neo. I don't really care that the footage competes with Stephen Spielberg! For family vacations and other personal stuff it'll be fantastic i'm sure. I previous invested in Insta360 cameras and GoPro Heros. All of them have been fantastic and more than adequate for a home user like me.
I would get one with a remote.
I love your reviews super informative and when I buy I always go by your reviews super thorough .
I appreciate that!
Are you at Petrie Island?… 👀
Exactly
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 I’ll probably buy the Neo Pro, I’m hooked! 😆
The rotor sound is horrible
Amazing review, very informative and I just purchased one. Quick question, if you are using the controller will it still land automatically if there is low lighting?
Nope… When you saw me fly it outside at night, that was with the controller.
The noise will get to you eventually and nearby people will get aggravated very fast. Be careful with this drone and noise pollution.
This review has everything. The most accurate and detailed. Thank you Steve.
Glad it was helpful!
11:12 peak content
😅
Did you grade that footage cause it looks clean!
It is straight out of the camera (it is impossible to color correct the footage)
Not compatible with Goggles 2?!?!
Screw DJI and their "no compatible" market strategy BS.
Thanks for the excellent review. I am looking forward to the next review you’re doing on it.
Will you try it with goggles ? Thanks.
Yes, an FPV Review is next
What is the best way to use such a lightweight drone?
The noise is very annoying
@@YatzP price tag isn't
I've done some testing, the DB levels are not that high to be fair but what I have established is the pitch of the noise is so high to help the app auto remove the prop noise when your talking into the app.
This does manifest itself as being loud, the truth is it's only 3db louder than the ITSY fpv, the issue is the pitch of the noise profile for auto removal.
But ps yes it is lol
You can cancel the noise by using the DJI apps, it will be quiet a lot.
@@ZhiHongChen-l6s the noise in the air I think is people's biggest complaints
Great comprehensive review Steve. I wonder if it will auto track a small rc plane ?
Thanks. Unfortunately there is no drone on the planet made for consumers that can track an RC Plane of any size.
Thank you!
It is just using an old AI trick of tracking where an object moves and then tracing the path.
That sound is a dealbreaker.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 yep. So, a video with the latest phones would be relevant…
Thanks for the tip that the explanation of FPV flying and all that comes with it will follow later, because that was actually the reason for watching.
The noise of this drone puts me of straight away
I read somewhere that it can delete the drone noise in your video by itself. But yeah It is annoying while using it
@@IslandDigital That's a plus point cheers for the info
I like the noise, it reminds me of a small cute animal haha
I stopped watching the video right away only because of this noise
You are a amazing guy, thanks for the nicely done video......thanks again.
My pleasure! And thanks for watching.
Would you recommend this over the dji mini 2 se? I'm trying to decide which one to get
It all depends what you wish to use a drone for
Best video about dji neo so far! Definitely buying one!
Awesome, hope you enjoy it!
Another little question. Does the camera have threads in front of the lens to allow the use of filters to enhance night vision or reduce glare?
No threads
I take it the motors are brushless?
Brushless Yes
Another great great that is intuitive and helpful. I’m thinking of buying a Neo with the remote but have a Samsung Ford phone. Do you know if the fold fits in the remote? Also heard that there had been software issues in the fly app with Samsung, are you able to shed any light on this? Many thanks. Mark
I do not have the phone you have so I can't check. In the "OLD DAYS" DJI had issues with OLD Samsung phones that were not 64 bit.
Do you have the Hoverair Pro max yet. And will you be doingba comparison when it is actually released?
Currently I do not have the Pro Max
Great review as usual ! Honest and fair like we were waiting for :) Thank you for this video and take care !
Glad you liked it!
Great review Steve best I’ve seen so far 👍 Question how did you get it to take off and fly in your front yard when it said it was a restricted zone? Can you over ride it and say it’s ok to fly with caution?
Easy… the answer is here: ua-cam.com/users/shortsQNMH7ZRAKo8?si=6t-NtZ41FYq7Wl55
I been waiting for your review cause I know you always give a true honest reveiw
Thank you!
Thank you for the videos on non remote flying!
You should try putting a small light on the bottom for the sensor to see if that helps
This Drone reminds me of the Spark, one of my favorite drones. Was waiting for your review before i buy it.
