Some tech I recommend (especially as a Permadeath player):
-X-class hazard protection upgrades. I use these exclusively instead of the normal C-S class hazard protection upgrades. Instead of giving the player a rechargeable shield, they offer longer resistance times to multiple hazards.
-X-Class shield, Sentinel and Authophage exosuit upgrades. These can offer multiple bonuses to life support, shield strength, core health, etc., in addition to your other exosuit upgrades. They may also give adjacency bonuses to all of each other, so you can pile on a total of 9 different exosuit upgrades.
-Infra-Knife Accelerator. Properly upgraded, this weapon can slice through shields and ship hulls and works well even at long range.
-Phase Beam. Not very effective at doing damage, but when fully upgraded, is great for recharging shields by siphoning them off of your enemies. Much better than scrolling through the quick menu to recharge your shields when every second matters.
-Neutron Cannon. This weapon is a beast that can scatter somewhat and hit multiple targets, but still deals massive amounts of damage even at longer ranges. It is great for collecting whispering eggs and dealing with the aftermath, as well as clearing out derelict freighters. It uses carbon-based elements in place of conventional ammunition to recharge, though, so be sure to keep a steady supply on hand.

I have this game on Steam and my son has it on gamepass. We wanted to play the new update together but we can't because the gamepass version takes a little while to catch up with new updates. I had a day off work today and my son was home because schools out so I said fuck it and went and bought him the full-price not-on-sale-or-anything Steam version, even though the gamepass update is coming shortly.
This wasn't impatience. This was me expressing my thanks to Hello Games in the only way I could, to reward a company that not only redeemed themselves after their publisher forced them to release the game too early way back then, and Sean got a little... hyperbolic with his claims, but then continued to support their game and the growing commmunity that play it way beyond what anyone expected or felt was necessary. After the first 5 or so updates, once multiplayer and base building were in, they could have started charging small or even moderate amounts for each update and nobody would have faulted them, it would still have been worth it.
No. All free, every single one. Players are falling to their knees begging Sean to charge them, pleading with him to be fair to himself, but Sean and the rest of his team just continue to churn out quality update after quality update for no charge whatsoever, and on top of that regularly put the game on sale.
So I happily forked out the £49.99 today with a smile on my face so my son and I could play the new expedition together (which FYI is a fantastic way to start a new save for the rewards alone.) I'll happily also spend whatever is asked of me to make Light no Fire the only game I ever pre-order again in this lifetime, because Hello Games have truly earned my trust that even on the off-chance that game comes out sub-par, I know for an absolute fact they will not stop working on it until they make it right.

    A few hot tips myself!
You can unlock the Orbital Materializer freighter tech via the base tech! It's in the same menu as the exocraft, and requires only one salvaged tech! Saves you a lot of time, heh.
Also, if you really want inventory transfer freedom - you can just change that as a difficulty setting.
If you want easy money, I'd actually recommend getting some s tier scanning upgrades! You can get hundreds of thousands of credits just for scanning creatures! So it helps reward you for doing things you should be doing anyways.
Also uh, a tip for permadeath since I think you need it Kanaju:
If you wanna just quickly get it over and done with, you can just find a traveler grave, use the first sigil to warp near the core, and then find your way there. Otherwise if you wanna go through the main quest, you can do so easily just by avoiding combat (just, a lot more than you would already. Permadeath isn't that bad if you've played survival. Main issue you'll be dealing with is the harsher inventory limits.)

BUT you can still access the freighter main inventory, no matter where the freighter is. Can't port the freighter to the system due to a missing hyperdrive upgrade? Teleport Receiver is my number 1 pick. The earlier you unlock it the better as you have super limited inventory early on. This also lets you focus on increasing your tech slots before your main inventory slots as you don’t need that many inventory slots with a huge inventory one tab away. Teleport Receiver for a freighter is even better than for a ship, then have an extra inventory all the time (almost) anywhere in any galaxy, regardless where the freighter is.
Now a freighter can not be tire upgraded (C B A S), so better try hunt an S class so can evolve to max cargo of 120 slots, so freighter augmentation modules are something to get. Can also use ships as extra storage, since can be called to most places. So also storage augmentations for ships are nice to get, like station selling/scrapping higher class ships often give one.

Good video! But I HATE the rocket boots lmao. Like, they're great on paper, and when you have a wide-open field or can't melee, but they add a delay to the jetpack, and also basically cripple it whenever you want to climb something because each landing is treated like another space-bar press, and delays you again while it waits and tries to launch forwards again - often making you fall straight back down.
I've taken to melee jumping like you mentioned (which I found out about in another video of yours) - it's so quick and effortless, no added delay, you can still climb without draining your tanks immediately, and it frees up a slot on your exosuit! I do wish there was a happy medium between the two, because it is annoying having to sprint on space stations and whatnot.

about Rocket Boots: idk about you, but to me, when they are installed, they cause a noticeable delay for the normal exosuit jump, including melee boost, which is super annoying. I'm guessing the game is expecting for me to double tap for rocket boots, hence jetpack doesn't work instantly anymore. One very handy tech early game is unlocking the foodprocessor in the building tech stand at the anomaly. Easy to build, carry it with you. Shoot animals, process the meat into stew and sell it for easy money. Or sell to kronos at the anomaly for a few nanites.
Rocketboots don't do it for me, too erratic, jumping when i don't want, or too far. And why the rush in space stations? You are not at the olympic 110m hurdles you know.
Perhaps mentioned before: install s-class scan upgrades on your multitool, giving tons of money for just scanning. We love easy cash, right?
Have at least 2 weapons installed and upgraded on your multitool and spaceship, quicker to select next weapon than to reload/wait for cooldown. Helps out in a pickle.
Unlock shapeship shield batteries early on. Fairly easy to make (even on the fly) and always handy to have a dozen or so for space combat
Not neccessarily a tech tip, but switch from startership to a shuttle as soon as you can afford one. They are relative cheap and usually have more inventory. Handy for hoarders before you have the freighter upgrades.
Honerable mentions: medium refiner to make nanites out of mould and to make chlorine from water and oxygen. More easy cash. And do the base station missions. They give free useful tech you don't have to unlock and are easy to do.

It does get annoying when you wanted to just get in and go, but sometimes it was just fun to have to worry about fuel.

This video was great and I have to say you adding the launch auto charger as the first one was really well implemented in the list because in game design launcher fuel is a quit moment! Of your a new player and you focus solely on exploring without focusing on markets or anything else. lacking launcher fuel can really throw a wrench in your enjoyment of the game.

To add on to the launch fuel thing, just get ship with decent weapons and take out a sentinel fleet. It will guide you to the only ship you'll ever need in the entire game, a sentinel ship. These specific ships can take the normal resources to refuel or you just pop in some pugneum or a radiant shard and both are common commodities if you find a dissonant planet. You're welcome

Also, a little tip for the minotaur, it gets annoying sometimes and gets in your way quite a bit. You can press down for the charg menu and all that, go to the very left like you are scanning with your ship and turn the minotaur ai on or off. That way if you need it to stay out of your way, you can just turn the AI control off and back on again when needed.

My biggest problem wirh NMS is the lack of variation on the same planet.
On 90% of planets it doesn't matter where you land... if you have seen 1km², you have basically seen the entire planet because it looks the same no matter where you are.
Execeptions are planets like the ones who have 1 large continent and the rest ist water but most planets don't even have water.
How about different biomes on one planet, north/south poles, rivers, mountain ridges or vast desert plains with no vegetation....
I hope for Worlds pt.2 because pt.1 already did a great job at expanding planet variations.

If you are on pc there are mods that apply multiple biomes to each planet. Simple problems can usually be solved with an easy to install mod.

The thing is, when you have a ton of variation within a planet (say, Earth-level variation), there's no real need to explore others is there? You can get mountains, oceans, lakes, islands, gorges, deserts, forests, and all of the matching weathers, all in the same planet. All that's really left for planet-level generation is like... anomaly planets, I guess? That's not quite as fun as the only reason to go planet-to-planet IMO.
Basically, if there's a lot of variation on each planet, then all planets are going to start feeling the same.
My only big problem with NMS is the creature generation - after a few planets, you see the main creature types, and there really isn't a whole lot more than that aside from slightly-different snouts/legs/etc. I have yet to see a planet with underground creatures that doesn't have the weird crab-octopus as one or two of them. There really ought to be more range in generation - even the anomalous fauna is more prefab than procedurally generated, as cool as it is to discover those (they do add good variety to otherwise "samey" creature gen).

When building on freighters, build platforms and stairs with the outdoor platforms and stairs, then build all your modules around those platforms to make really cool multi-level bases on frieghter. The freighter modules will snap to platforms.
