Vallun is one of the most skilled GW2 players I have ever seen play the game. There are probably many other players who are better, or just as good, but they don't make GW2 UA-cam videos. Learning how to play GW2 from Vallun is a sure way to improve your game play and make it easier for you to complete all levels of content within the game with greater ease. I've learned so much from his videos, but need to watch them many more times and practice his principles, before I will get close to his skill.
First step to become good is being able to control your character and good keybinds, then later worry about your builds, this is a game where mobility is overpowered.
watching Vallun beating the crap out of fellow players in WvW could be sold as therapy. listening to his explanations could turn a long distance flight into something magical
Been playing this since 2011 kiting and mobility is very important with current state of pvp in this game and just how fast you can die if caught out of position, he speaks the truth here its worth learning if you want to improve your gameplay.
Fantastic video, honestly one of the most important skills for getting from being an intermediate player to advanced is learning how to properly control your character.
Also, strongly recommend to disable "Right-Click to Attack/Interact" if you plan to use the mouse buttons this much to control the camera otherwise its a disaster in mis-targeting. Alternatively, if your character doesn't need to 'about face' for skills but you still need to look behind you when running, just bind the "Look Behind" feature to a key and use that instead. Much easier than having to deal with the free camera thing but to each their own.
For me, the most essential skill to learn FIRSTLY, is to master Touch Typing. I'm a Hybrid type who sometimes have to look at my keyboard to press the correct key. It gets worse when I panick especially at PvP.
after years of playing mmos i learned where the most accessible keys are to my left hand. Takes a lot of practice and muscle memory but you are right that is more of an essential thing to all games
Nice vid. Been playing 10 years and the first criticism I faced was lack of keybinding. Now all these years later I am finding a shortcoming in character movement. About face without being completely disoriented is going to be my next leap forward I think. Is annoying getting circle strafe kited by melee classes and feeling like I have no answer.
I also have been playing GW2 for over ten years and I wish I would have known the importance of keybinds and movement tricks when I started playing, because it’s harder to learn after you have already developed bad playing habits and muscle memory. Anet should point all new players to videos like this one.
Can u recommend some keybinds for active camera players? Is it possible to be good ar pvp with active camera and do you have some guides on that subject. Thanks
I saw from the Mukluk video that the Blish Hud has a range indicator. It can be super useful for new players to understand how far 400, 600, 1000, and 1200 units are with these indicators on.
Do you have any videos on your key binds. I have yet to find a way to have all my skills easily accessible with my left hand and still keep my movement keys in their midst. If that makes sense.
go to an invincible golem in either pve or raid test zone, and use your combos and skill rotations WHILE moving in all directions. Make sure you can do it going backwards, change direction. Mostly takes time if you dont practice it this way.
so with the action camera this is impossible right? because when running into your camera the action cam forces you to face where you cast .... whyyyyyyy
Left mouse to detach the camera from the character, than about face. You'll run towards the camera while still holding W (your S key sees almost no use with this technique, and will still make your character run backwards if you use it).
something that wasn't mentioned in the video but you can try for that In the settings there is a toggle for action camera that will give you a crosshair when you turn it one left click becomes your 1 ability/auto attack right click becomestargeting if action camera is turned on and you start pressing S to run backwards your character will turn around unless casting/attacking same thing with strafing I very much believe that action camera is underrated
@@eranoszrill8907 action cam is fine for some things, and might help some players learn to move more fluidly, but it's generally considered to have a lot of limitations for endgame content, particularly depending on your class. For example, you lose the ability to place AoE behind you (or even to the sides) with the camera forward, which is a big detriment in situations where you need that forward facing or wide-ranging awarenes. You also have to home in on every single enemy you want to kill instead of being able to rely on a blend of targeted and manually placed attacks. Overall, it's a situational tool with some fun quirks rather than a full alternative. Which isn't to say that skilled players can't pull it off! It's just that if you're looking to make life easier, action cam really isn't that. You're going to have to put work into compensating for its drawbacks.

wouldnt alot of the skill cap of gw2 be unlocked by making a free move option relevant to camera angle? basically convert a top down control scheme to whatever direction the camera is facing on its x axis.... basically so if you hold down s or backwards you would turn and run backwards instead of walking back facing forward.... a simple option could fix alot of these videos explaining movement and things like using about face to its potential..... imo my best play style would compliment that kind of controls... it is subjective but sux i cant play like that
no because that already exists and its action camera, and you can do fine with it, but you can do better by doing these things, and every competitive game has these small mechanics that you need to optimize beyond the core games mechanics that make no sense, if you just want to play the game then ignore this, but it assumes you want to learn how to get better not just have the game play itself
Damn, I'm playing wrong since 5 years, like I'm playing gw2 like it's Eso which is a full action mmorpg and not a targeting mmo like gw2. Having to learn to play the game after 5 years of bad habit is a pain in my a$$😢

I'd like to add that using the Action Camera (and learning when to toggle it on-&-off) is a god-send. If you're used to playing other RPGs like that lock the camera to the front to your mouse (i.e. Genshin Impact, etc.) Action Camera might be easier for you, especially if you PvP a lot. Though it does become problematic for controlling ranged AoE skills, you can toggle the Action Camera on-&-off in order for better aim. It's definitely a little janky at first - but after getting used to things, it's a great substitute. If you wanna try it out: Options --> Control Options --> Camera --> Toggle Action Camera If you're not comfortable with it, stick to whatever you like to play with! That's the beauty of the gameplay! i think targeting AOE spells with action camera can be made easy if you toggle the option that doesn't let you target them past their cast range I'm always using action camera and with that placing AOEs are fairly easy but sometimes might requere a flick but that's a skill that you can bring from FPS games and such of course to each their own
I honestly feel like GW2 is not a "true MMO" purely because of the combat. It's way closer to an Action RPG. I understand that pedants will say "It's still an MMO because it's an RPG online with a massive player base" You know what I mean, shut up.
@@Vallun ouch. I feel called out by that burn. Lol. But yeah... I recognise my weaknesses. Mobility is something I need to relearn or at least try too. I swap between depending on which setup I have or what I feel like using. Action cam is really nice for directional skills and easy movement, but if you want to hit consistently with skills that are directly cast, especially charge abilities like those on warrior's great sword and shield, it's usually better to use tab targeting so you don't miss. Ultimately just do what works best for you.
Its all good, but i will change the caption to "the 5 most essential guild wars 2 skills to Improve mobility FOR RIGHT HANDERS". As a left hander its harder to play with keybinds. Im moving with arrows and i learned to click faster and i find it challenging for me for example to make it to plat in pvp this way.
Wasd is decent. Actually better would be to play on something like rdfg, leaves more stuff on the left side for your pinky to hit. Your setup with f2 doesn't work on many keyboards, the function keys are just too far away to be usable at all. Casting everything with your thumb alone sounds slow as hell...if you're just spamming a rotation, fine, but when you gotta improvise and react in pvp, thumb would need to do too much work at once.

Don’t know if I would call the mobility in this game “over powered”? I think it’s more like a skill that can be developed and improved with practice.
