It would be funny that the only reason why the "Skin Textures" were scrapped was because they were too grotesque, with Ocarina of Time having an whole dungeon with it
I really hope, that one of the reasons nintendo scrapped Prine 4, was not only due to retro's past success, but also because some one had kept all of retro's past scrapped content safe on a shelf, and when Nintendo asked retro to take over they were approved to use a lot of old ideas that never saw the light of day during the trilogy.
1:29 Here’s an example of Iwata’s foresight as a leader. As much as people want to criticize some of the decisions he made as an executive, he did show that he had a very good understanding of the business of game development and that he was able to take his experience as a game programmer and merge it with his business decisions. Why did he tell them to make Metroid Prime 3 over making a Donkey Kong reboot? It’s because when people drop work on a series to pickup something knew, it’s a lot harder to pick it back up again especially if it has been years since working on it. If Retro Studios made the Donkey Kong reboot after Metroid Prime 2, you’d probably see many of the former devs that had a hand in making the Prime series depart from the company as the studio makes Donkey Kong reboot games. And then what happens if the people that departed were your lead writers, directors, artists, etc? Tbh, you could probably replace a programmer unless your team relied on coding wizardry (not sure how sophisticated Metroid Prime’s code was), but losing a writer or a director is like losing the heart and soul of the series. There’s no guarantee a new guy stepping in would be able to authentically make a Metroid Prime 3 that feels like a genuine continuation after 2, and you could have some hack Call of Duty writer step in and write Metroid Prime 3 as if it were a clone of Halo 3. Also, the Wii needed system sellers and hardcore titles to tell consumers “Hey! Our system isn’t just for party games! Look at Metroid Prime 3 with its guns and stuff!”, so that’s probably another consideration that Iwata had in mind.
18:25 I can't believe you didn't mention how the space pirates designs look similar to the Sangheili, or the Covenant Elites in Halo, with the mandible-like lower jaw segments.
This BTS content is cool, but it's clear the best ideas made it into the resulting game. I don't feel that I lost out on anything playing a 3D metroidvania with a somber space opera story.
so while Niontendo understood bounty hunter differently, I guess you could say Samus' motivations are different from that of the typical bounter hunter.
Oddly enough NCL does describe themselves as "Nintendo of Japan" in copyright takedown notices on UA-cam, which I actually found so odd that I thought it was proof that the takedown was a hoax submitted by an imposter pretending to be Nintendo.
seems like that had all these amazing consepts then they therw theme out to be safe, I want them to take a risk with prime 4 and make somthing that can bring the series closer to the level of zeld, Metroid can be so much more,.

I mean isn't that what the fed troopers where in federation force, they just made it in chibi style and less awsome?Man the thing that suck is a 4 player metroid like game would be awsome, It could work like dark souls and elden ring, I reject that samus always need to be alone.
This game needs the massive remaster treatment more than anything. I can’t revisit this game because the textures and art direction is so muddy. Alot of the environments suffer because of the Wii’s hardware. If they updated this as much as they did Prime 1, it would be insane. Straight up a different experience entirely
It is the best-looking of the Prime trilogy though. Emulation at a higher resolution would probably help to clearly display the great environmental art and geometry they created.
3:40 How does Samus pay the *bills* then Nintendo? 6:50 PS: You can still see this fourth phase of corruption in the corrupted game-over before it switches to Dark Samus. I always assumed the switch to Dark Samus was to show that she was in control, rather than Samus becoming a clone of her. 12:55 PPS: Based on the models of Meta Ridley and Omega Ridley, it's possible they were swapped for each other at some point in development, as Meta Ridley's blueish armor fits more with Phazon corruption than the more silver-armored Omega Ridley.
Corruption is the only game that really used the motrion controlls for the better, I mean it really was the first VR game just on flat screen, I wonder when nintendo will give VR a try again.
@@awakenedcrowl because that's what the initial rumours said. It's just 1 because prime 1 was used as a reference for the new devs at retro to understand how metroid gameplay works
@@novustalks7525 I see. Doesn't necessarily deconfirm a Remaster for 2 and 3 for me, even if the rumors are actually precisely correct (cuz, u know, if Nintendo smells money they COULD always reconsider) but thanks for explaining.
Well Prime Remastered was announced after I had already recorded this video lol I do plan to do a sort of compilation video of the whole series eventually, so I might add in Prime Remastered to that as well.
I know a feature I could do without and that's NSO as it stands. I mean if Nintendo makes backwards compatibility a standard moving forward; why would anyone subscribe ? Even without the option to buy and own rhe games as it is; it still hard to convince me of its worth, unless they add current games to try; in the same way as other subscriptions, and offer discounts on the games in the monthly rotation of games.
Convinced you didn’t play Prime 3 because of the way you’re pronouncing “Phaaze” when it’s said in game multiple times Gandrayda is also pronounced wrong in your video. The “ay” in her name needs to be pronounced like the normal pronunciation of the letter “a”. Her name is also said multiple times throughout the game.

I love your videos but your pronunciations have been off since at least the first Metroid video. Most of them are pretty minor, but the repetition in this one is starting to get to me. Right now the one that keeps bothering me in this video is your pronunciation of Phaaze. Despite its spelling, you would pronounce it the same as if it only had one "a".
Open world garbage in metroid? im so glad it didn't make it to the final game. Even so, prime 3 is the weakest game in the trilogy by a landslide, no isolation, subpar bosses, forgettable soundtrack save for a few tracks, etc... I was disappointed.

Retro's supreme concept art could inspire dozens of Metroid games. The Chozo concepts are very creative and detailed.
It would be funny that the only reason why the "Skin Textures" were scrapped was because they were too grotesque, with Ocarina of Time having an whole dungeon with it
With Zelda, it was still blocky and cartoony textures so not too gross. Here, these were kinda realistic lol
I wish we would played the bounty missions in Metroid Prime 3.
It would have added more variety and worldbuilding into the mix. :)
We can hope that 4 will do this.

I genuinely believe Nintendo wanted Metroid Prime to be their answer to Halo, even if they played nothing alike.

since they saved Bayonetta they are clearly regretting their "family Friendly" image, Metroid is definatly the go too for an M game
"Open World games are too much for the Wii"
Xenoblade Chronicles: "Am I a joke to you?"
(I know its a semi-open world, just making fun)
to be fair, Xenoblade was also a game that came out quite late in the Wii's lifecycle when devs better understood the hardware by then too.
Did I just hear you call Gandryda Ganruuda?
