I personally loved everything this game tried. Also, this is the only game where I can CONFIDENTLY say that the motion controls were a delight to use, added to the experience, and were well executed
Same. Strangely, to me, Metroid Prime 2 is the weakest one. feels way more linear than 3, hate the ball bosses (spider ball boss and dash ball boss omg) and i felt that the different locals were either desert, dark desert, ruins, dark ruins, tech place, dark teck place. The luminoth guy is cool though xD
My only complaint was the lack of tracking in charged shots making them worthless except at point blank range due to lower flight speed. Really hurt the strategy as bean spam was the only choice expect for melee charge shot. Someone needs to give Sammy a beam sabre for melee action.
Man, bro, just hearing that choir for the intro literally is marked on my soul. MP3 was my 1st Metroid game, so it means a lot to have it being reviewed and still loved and enjoyed more than 15 years after it released, so thank you so very much for bringing attention to the prime games that they rightfully earned and deserved.
I liked corruption because it felt more like a lived in universe. The Federation feels like it's an actual force and I'm super surprised you didn't mention that awesome scene when you lower the planetary shields and the federation fighters swoop down and start raising hell. Then soldiers are assigned to guard the landing pads. I thought that was so cool. Other bounty hunters with their own styles exist, multiple planets; if only they had continued from there and not waited so long.
This. You felt like you were an important part of a real, living universe. The galaxy is supposed to be at stake in all the other metroid games as well, but the isolation actually works against one feeling like this is the case. Here, getting to meet the people youre fighting for really helps that part of the story hit home
I feel like they bit off more than they could chew. The universe felt small and like a discount Halo. They ruined the best part of the Metroid series, which is isolation and deep atmosphere
Thinking about it, I wish as you got deeper into the planets you got to see how the planet itself was corrupted by phase. That would've been cool. Can't wait for Prime 4!
Prime 3 Motion Controls were one of, if not the best implementation of motion controls there ever were on the Wii. It might have been finnicky at times with the pumping and stuff but the rest worked very well imho. All in all I liked Corruption a lot, it was a very satisfying conclusion to the trilogy at the time.
I always liked how the Corrupted Aurora Unit final boss serves a similar function to a Mother Brain battle, at least thematically. It felt like a fitting finale to the Prime Trilogy.
Prime 3 did bring a welcomed (to me) more narrative aspect, all the while preserving exploration and feelings of being left on your own most of the time. I love Prime 2 and 3, but I also love narration, and 1 and 2 have none (although I love learning the lore through reading the files). Prime 3 varies between loneliness/exploration, and more epic narrative sequences.
It always sucks hearing how Prime 3 didn't strike the same chord with a lot of people as it did for me. Prime 3 is my absolute favorite Metroid game in the entire series. I love hypermode, I love the unique aesthetics, I love actually using Samus's ship, I love Dark Samus being taken as the legitimate threat she is, I love the voice acting and the Federation and the other bounty hunters, the controls feel anything but intrusive to me, the story feels more impactful, you get the screw attack much earlier, you don't lose your entry suit upgrades. It's just a blast from beginning to end for me.
as someone who plays Prime 3 a lot, the super zoomed out view in the footage is so trippy. I'm used to many of the shots being closer up, especially because they give some nice detail, like how Gandrayda in the intro to 242 leans forward in interest when it starts speaking for the first time, or when Samus gets corrupted and the close up of her visor as she falls back looks very Dark Samus esque.
I figured out why I never had the key "motion controls" fail me but always come by people saying it doesn't work reliably: Pushing and pulling on the wii remote are not a "motion sensor" input bur rather an IR camera action, so you literally only have to move your wii remote CLOSER or FURTHER from the TV, not yank it or stab at it, the wii remote can tell how much you varied the distance from a to b by the distance between the dots of the sensor bar, the wii's gyro/accelerometer don't have to "feel" anything. That's it, thank you for reading. (PS: I mean I "figured out" that people seem to confuse the type of action, not that I didn't know the difference, some people never played Warioware and it shows)
As someone who plays/played the games on their original consoles, you can tell that Corruption suffers from Wii syndrome. Basically they sacrificed certain game aspects to focus on their fancy motion controls. That been said the controls do make the game fun to play once you're used to them, but it does make the game gimmicky at times. You basically hit all the issues I had. Constant backtracking, being too easy, everything being easy to find. Another thing that may not have been an issue on PC but was definitely annoying on the Wii was the abhorred load times. The gunship was used as a loading screen like elevators, and it would take FOREVER to get to the next landing pad. I'm not saying it's a bad game, but in my opinion it is the weakest of the Prime series.
Oh yeah, the load times are pretty ridiculous. Even on PC. Hopefully if they ever do a rerelease, the upgraded hardware will help fix that. As for the controls thing, I totally agree. Overall, they're a net benefit, but they still have issues.
it was like the only wii game where i enjoyed the implementation of waggleshit in gameplay it's kinda egregious that they had to use it for banal shit like opening doors but in (some) puzzle solving and combat its fun
There were times where I wasn’t able to do anything with the fuel cell motion controls because my room wasn’t big enough and I couldn’t be far enough from the tv for it to register the controls
Thank you for hitting on the ship upgrade issue. I like their narrative implementation, but its clear their utility was not fully realized, and that made clear to me by the fact there are several "mission expansion" upgrades in the game. My theory was there was supposed to be sections/areas where you could call airstrikes beyond blowing up generators/walls. Probably some larger areas in each map where there would have been a large number of enemies, or even boss fights would require extra ship ammo. It sucks looking for the ship missile expansions cause you think you're finding something really useful until you've beaten the game several times and realize there is no use of a limited ship ammo anywhere. Anyways, Corruption was my first game on the wii, and not only my first time playing a metroid game, but also a prime game. I was hooked in almost as fast as when I first played the halo series. I agree with all the criticisms you levied against it, though it holds a special place in my heart. Love the whole trilogy, but when I pull out my wii every couple of years to play the trilogy again I am always most excited to finish 1&2 just so I can play 3. The story, the designs of the federation and space pirates, it feels like a real sci-fi. Love the videos.
Corruption is my least favorite of the trilogy but I always appreciated how it is the climax of the trilogy, in the first two you where investigating two different events with the common denominator of phazon and you learn how dangerous it is, by corrpution you're at war with the space pirates and dark samus
That's the same criticism people had with Mass Effect 3. They wanted to continue making choices that'll effect the outcome of the series, but it's the 3rd Act! Now its time to wrap up the story! Corruption was now needing to be more directed and guided than the previous 2. Now that whole guided narrative didn't work well with Fusion in my opinion, but I'm glad they ditched it for Dread and let you explore while wrapping up Samus' story.
Just found these videos and binged them all. Metroid has always been my favorite franchise and how I got into gaming in the first place. I’m always happy to see my beloved franchise get the love it deserves from people.
These metroid openings reminds me of a happier and easier time in my life. I don't know how many times i played the intro of Corruption for the sole reason of saving the soldier getting sucked by the vaccum of space when the space pirates attacked.
That’s why I like to let them play for a bit at the start of each video. They carry so much emotional weight with them, and they’re so nostalgic for a lot of people. Also, it just makes a good transition..
I'm only 19 minutes into this but I appreciated your coverage. You reminded some of the details I forgot about. I did recall it took forever to navigate Sky Town but with the soothing music.. it calmed me down. It was only when you sped up your footage... I winced and realized 'It does take forever'. I haven't played Prime 3 in years, this video helped me recall many things. I'm happy I managed to complete it, maybe it was because my sister bought me a guide-book. I found the narrative so strong, I had to learn how the game concluded. I also liked the addition of teammates for Samus. I'm curious how much of Prime 3 influence will be in Prime 4. Thanks for the video, I'll keep watching now.
Maybe I'm crazy, but I never felt as attached to the concept of "isolation" in Metroid games as other people seem to, so I very much welcomed the addition of NPCs and a story and all that.
Absolutely amazing video! I thought you expertly articulated your thoughts and gave a great retrospective on corruption! I look forward too your next project whatever it may be!
This will forever live one of my favorite games considering this was my first Metroid aside from the gba port of the nes version. I played it to death on the wii. The variety in the environment. The fact you can see inside the iconic ship. All the upgrades and the fact the suit changes as you progress. As a kid I was utterly shocked how far it pushed the graphics on the wii. It was just so interactive and I can’t stress enough about how great the atmosphere is. If this is not ported to switch I’ll be devastated.
This was my first introduction to the Prime trilogy, as I only grew up with a Wii, and one of the games we got from the flea market was Prime 3. I played all the way until the golem and I couldn't get any further. This game has a piece of my heart since it started my love of Metroid and got me to branch out to some of the Metroid games on virtual console. Heck, I beat Dread a couple days after it came out lmao. After playing Prime 1 and 2, I can definitely see the weak points in 3, and I'm glad to see someone out there point out not only the flaws but also the things it's got right. It really gives some love to the game that started it all, for me. Great Video! Hope to see more retrospectives on Metorid games from you!
I also grew up with MP3 and later played 1 and 2. So, Prime 3 still is nostalgic for me but I could see how great and different the other two games too.
One of my biggest nitpicks with the finale of MP3 is that I feel its final bosses should have been fought in reverse. You start by fighting the Corrupted Aurora Unit, then after you beat it, Dark Samus emerges and you fight her for the fate of Phaaze/the galaxy, in the cage match it deserves like those in MP2. The CAU fight feels much less personal.
That actually makes a lot of sense. If you just kind of rush through the main story, it's unlikely you'd even know what's going on with the CAU, so that being the boss to close out the trilogy may seem odd. I think that it would've helped to build Dark Samus up as more of a threat, thus creating a stronger payoff. Thanks for the thought!
This is exactly my thought. I was not a fan of having a far less mechanically interesting fight being after one of the most fun boss fights in the game. If the order of fighting the AU and Dark Samus was reversed I'd love it way more
I quite like having an afterthought boss to wind down with - you have the big narrative battle and then you face an easy "victory lap" to let your adrenaline fade with rather than ending the game in your own personal hypermode and having to find some way to calm down on your own...
I felt this way and then years later had a different idea; what if either dark samus or the CAU mutated to look like Metroid Prime Core? To really bring it back full circle from the first Prime game.
Corruption was my first prime I played all the way through. That being said, 1 and 2 came out when I was much younger, so I didn't have money for games then. Corruption was dope imo, the wii controls may have been annoying for some, but all of those wiimote puzzles go by so quick when you have an actual wiimote, I barely noticed them at all. I thought the story was incredible, the locations were all unique looking, and as you went along you began to feel terrible for the bounty hunters you were taking out because you ultimately had no choice. The late game was awesome, fighting dark samus while excessively saturated with phazon was epic. It was my first prime I really played, so luckily, I didn't really "experience" any of its problems
Something interesting to note about Metroid Prime 1 and 2 compared to 3 is in the first two games you may go through about 70% of the explorable level while going through the game and they leave that 30% for upgrade hunting. In Prime 3 however I found that by the time I finished the game, I'd more or less explored everything and the game had naturally got me to complete map exploration- hence why I feel like I was just given upgrades rather than have to hunt for them like in 1 and 2.
That's not really accurate. I'd say that prime 1 and 2 actually have a lot more mandatory map exploration. Prime 3 lets you never return to Norion if you want to, it lets you never explore a massive section in the middle of Bryyo if you want to, it lets you ignore big parts of Valhalla if you want to. Meanwhile, Prime 1 has some optional sections in Chozo ruins and that's kind of it. Prime 2 has some optional sections in Agon Wastes and Torvus Bog, and I feel like I'm being generous by calling those ''sections'', it's more like 2 or 3 rooms here and there. I think the difference that you noticed is that in prime 3 you find the energy cells you need naturally instead of at the very end of the game, for one, and for two, Norion and Elysia can be completed long before the endgame. Neither of them requires more than the spiderball to fully clear them.
I don't think 3 is the best of the trilogy, but if you like 1 and 2 I think there's still a lot here to enjoy! I bounced off it so quick when it released. I just finished the whole trilogy last month and don't understand why I disliked it so much at first. Once you get past the intro it's metroid prime game play all the way! Personally, I don't understand the negative discourse around the ship traveling - it's basically like an elevator at the end of a level that takes you to ANY region. All the prime games have elevators at the end of levels connecting them together - prime 3 just puts your ship there instead.
(35:45) I played this game so many times already, yet i somehow only now discovered that you can track Ridley easily through your radar in the top left corner. WHAT
To this day I'm not 100% sure why I dont like corruption as much as the other 2 primes. Also since Metroid Prime 4 is going to be released on switch (or switch 2 depending on how much longer we have to wait) it seems inevitable at this point that Retro will make Metroid Prime 4 massively open world like they intended with corruption. I'm open to this as long as it is done well and doesn't take away from the core prime experience.
Awesome content, subbed! PLease do more Metroid Content, especially since it's so hot right now. I love seeing these kinds of videos, they make my day!
I understand it your. Reasons, but as a Metroid super fan, I love it. I’ve beaten it probably has a dozen times, and the second time I feed it was immediately after the first time.
i respect their way of trying to flesh out the world samus occupies but i’ve always felt they metroid is the encapsulation of ‘actions speak louder then words’ i sort of like the idea that in my own head canon i’ve never heard samus say a word (probably in a lot of peoples tbh)
What I'd like to see in Prime 4 is some proper sequence breaks like you can pull off in Super or Dread, NOT something glitch based or something that defies all logic like scan dashing.
Love these kind of videos. Just subbed from the recommendation of someone else I'm a fan of. I'll be sure to check this out in full and all your other videos very soon.
I think that as a kid Corruption was my favorite because of the accessibility. I remember being able to beat Prime, but I gave up after an hour of playing Echoes. Then Corruption brought me back and I've been in love with the series ever since. I know not everyone likes how accessible Corruption is but I love the game and it's what cemented my love for the series. I mean i bought a switch OLED just to play Dread because I'm that in love with the franchise and without this game, I don't think that'd be the case. Also, really amazing videos for such a small channel!
I really liked the grapple upgrade that let you grab an enemy and pull their energy out to heal yourself or push some of your own energy into them to overload them to death. I forget the real name of it, but I call it the Metroid Beam, since it does the same thing to Samus' enemies that a metroid does. I was really disappointed by the fact that you couldn't use this ability on enemies without shields though...
While I do like first 2 games better as well, I do love this one quite a bit as well. This game actually started making me want to try a challenge, where you play on the hardest difficulty, while avoiding all optional E-Tanks and Missile upgrades. I was never able to beat any of the 3 games that way, but I got very close. Without the 2 mandatory E-Tanks in this game, this type of challenge would be impossible. I tell you, going through Phaaze with this tiny Energy bar is quite the thrill. But just in case you're interested, here's where all my challenge runs ended: -Prime 1: Omega Pirate -Prime 2: Quadraxis -Prime 3: Literally the final phase of the final boss
Although I do considered Prime 3 to be the weakest of the Prime Trilogy, it's still an great game and an good finale for the Prime games. For now. Don't know when Prime 4 will come or if it will come. One thing I appreciated about Prime 3 is that amount of collectables u only need to reach the final area. Unlike the first 2 Prime games where u need all the collectables to reach the final areas ( Chozo Artifact and Sky Temple Key ), Prime 3 only let u get 5 or 6 out of 10 Power Cells to reach the final level and the extra cells u can get are for more inventory or upgrade u can get. That's something I hope Prime 4 does if it doea something like this again. It would be alot tolerable. Now as far as being an good introduction to the Metroid franchise. In terms of 3D Metroid games, maybe. But as first Metroid game in general, Zero Mission is an fantastic starting point to get into Metroid and it's one of the best titles for the franchise. But still, Prime 3 isn't to shabby to start with either. So yeah. What an great adventure.
I bought this on release but didn't finish it until 2020 when I did a full series playthrough, despite loving the first two Prime games. I downloaded a save file with the online-only achievements and hypermode difficulty unlocked so I could jump straight into it. Prime 3 shares a lot of the same problems I had with Twilight Princess, Skyward Sword and Other M. They feel designed for a player who immediately stops playing if they aren't told exactly what to do or where to go. They introduce lots of mechanics that are just one-off distractions instead of becoming core gameplay elements. Instead of using your items or abilities or unlock new parts of the game world, they're locked off until the story gives you a reason to go there. It's hard to remember most of the new powerups you get in Prime 3. Most of them are just keys that allow you to progress instead of having actual use in combat. Hypermode is fun to use and the bosses on the hardest difficulty were still challenging with it, but it meant you're playing the game the exact same way the entire time instead of becoming progressively more capable and powerful like all the other Metroid games. The new planets weren't all that interesting even with scanning, but it was nice to learn how Tallon IV and Aether are doing after what you did to help them.
A fitting retrospective on my favorite game trilogy. In anticipation of Prime 4 these videos are like a refresher. I'll be buying Metroid Prime Remastered for the switch soon since there are a few new things added to that version. I look forward to working my way down after getting that badass Phazon Suit. Prime 3 is a very close 2nd to prime 1 for me. I actually enjoyed it being a bit more linear and action oriented since the mystery of phazon is at its conclusion and now you're in an all out war. The federation is there. Other bounty hunters are there. The space pirates are there. Dark Samus looms and takes on an almost supernatural aura. It's all hands on deck! The expansion of the Phazon lore is what I love. Finally we understand that on Tallon IV and Aether it was a leviathan seed that crashed into the planets. One weird thing is that the super dangerous red phazon was absent despite being in the first game. The corruption aspect was interesting since if you allowed yourself to be overwhelmed by the PED suit you'd become a dark Samus yourself. An overall great game with a great ending. Especially if you got all of the items. You'll see that someone is following you after you leave the federation armada. I'm sure the premise for prime 4 will answer who or what that is.
Great vid, I honestly love what prime 3 brought to the trilogy. Sure, it’s not as maybe atmospheric and gives you that alone feeling the first two do, but man I honestly think prime 3 might have some of the best Metroid moments ever. Great bosses, cool cutscenes and sequences, it sacrificed a lot that made the first two great but did it different enough to make it amazing to me
After playing all three, I legit cannot pick a favorite. I love them all. They work so well as a unit, and they all do so much right, while doing very little that actually matters wrong. I know this game didn't reach the sky for everyone, but for me it absolutely hits and feels exactly comparable to the prior two experiences with the Prime games. They are all incredible and until Prime 4 comes out and I gauge that one, I genuinely cannot pick a favorite because they're all so good and progress into each other so well. Especially with lore. The mystery and exact events revolving around Metroid Prime and Dark Samus and the mechanism of how phazon created Dark Aether, and how Metroid Prime as a creature exists can all be theorized about and you can easily come to a conclusion that works because of the narrative implications that Prime 3 introduces. It's one of few series I think that made narrative decisions and implications that retroactively affect and explain things in prior entries that works, and not only works, but knocks it out of the park. It's a perfect showing of how you can leave certain things unexplained for the audience to figure out by leaving the right breadcrumbs. I love these games unconditionally, all three.
Considering the whole "one month later" thing, this might actually be the longest timespan of any Metroid game. Usually, the events of the games probably take place in pretty much real time, however long it takes you to beat it is however long it actually took in-universe, but in this game, things take place over a month and change.
The main thing that was missing was no timed escape run from a dying Phaze. Samus is no stranger to destroying planets, but Phaze is the only planet Samus destroys that DOESN’T have an escape sequence, and it all happens off screen.
I only every played 3 which sounds crazy but it made me absolutely love the metroid series. I'm currently playing prime and echoes on dolphin primehack. It's actually more enjoyable to play it like an FPS on pc in my opinion and I hope Nintendo will one day allow metroid games come out on the PC.
Good retro, but not using the pointer controls is criminal. That's the reason why I liked Metroid Prime 3 over 1 & 2 initially. Best aiming on a console, and the 60FPS helped as well.
I highly recommend Federation force. It is genuinely the most fun multiplayer experience I’ve ever had. if you can get some friends together I couldn’t recommend it enough. It’s fun playing it alone but playing it with other people is the best way to experience it. It deserves more credit than what most people give it and most of the people that complain about the game haven’t even played it
Looking at the footage of Metroid Prime 3 without the motion control looks so weird to me, and just proves that yes it is possible to port that game to the Switch.
corruption is my second favorite in the trilogy. Mostly it's probably nostalgia, part of it not thinking motion controls are the satan, but corruption did what no other prime game did. It connected Samus into the world she's part off. She interacts with her fellow bounty hunters, she feels remorse for letting them die because of the mistakes in mp2. MP3 just made it clear that she is part of the world.
I don’t know why people like the feeling of being a long in Metroid games. It’s such a common thing, I was always excited when they tried to explain the universe but adding more people who were alive.
Yeah I don't get that critique at all either. You are still isolated most of the game, it's just broken up a bit. Going to planets where the inhabitants are no longer there and never running into anybody else can only not be weird or repetitive for so long.
hypermode overloads so you have to rapidly shoot to off gas. In addition to that, your suit fails to deactivate hypermode so it turns off automatically. The problem is that it builds and builds, combined with you feeling when it will turn off equals full life no matter what since you would just end close to full life.
I remember getting this game day one! And it was hell to play it because if I remember correctly they were using these updated discs and i had to update my Wii and i didn't have internet so I had to go to my friend's house to update.
I really like your prime views. You hit all the right key points of what makes prime .. prime. Prime 2 will always be my favourite game so these reviews and your opinions resonate with me and alot of your viewers for sure Also i really wish they put a main boss in the G.F.S vallhala when unlocking the code for the wormhole instead of the laughing stock instakill omega metroid. A meaty boss here wouldve been welcomed.
Mogenars theme is nearly top tier for me. In video games and cinematic boss music. As well as dark samus and the aurora unit slow version. Heavy hitting base and recognizeable notes. Really helps give these characters, places and situations some real identity. Keeping immersion fully intact. I really dig many of this games tracks though i like prime 1 and 2 echoes as really great exploration music. But along with slower exploration music that ties in with the previous games This one has a sense of keeping you on the move. Samus mission is urgent. So you have more Striking music more music that conveys overwhelment. Which i feel is good trying to sell the desperate feeling of the attack on norion. The phazon corruption of you of your comrades of everything. The destruction of the leviathan seeds it just goes really well for a soundtrack
The demolition guys are essentially combat engineers. In any standing army they aren't going to be your best armored or trained troops, in terms of combat. That's not their role. Now, relying on Samus to do all the heavy lifting when you nominally have an army at your disposal IS a legitimate concern, but that's been the case for every interaction Samus has ever had with the federation across all games.
I'm kind of the opposite about this. Like metroid prime 1 is my favorite game of all time with the only real issue I had with it was not being able to spin the camera when in morph ball but eventually getting used to it with backtracking more. However for me Echoes was extremely tedious, boring, and repetitive. With the slowest progression in the series. However I did enjoy the story and the official inclusion of Dark Samus. With Corruption the only big issue I had was how over powered the hypermode was and most sections being so linear However I still prefer that over Echoes map layouts. I also enjoy the ascetic of Corrutpiom over Echoes along with the story itself though still neither beats Prime 1. Overall I'd rank the games as 1, 3, 2 but note that they all have strengths and weaknesses and is still one of my favorite trilogies of any franchise
When I was 12 I just wanted a shooter for the Wii to use a gun peripheral. Needless to say I got lost almost immediately and gave up. Currently midday through Echoes, so looking forward to trying this one out again soon.
I personally loved everything this game tried. Also, this is the only game where I can CONFIDENTLY say that the motion controls were a delight to use, added to the experience, and were well executed
The motion controls are also great in the Wii versions of the first two games.
IT SLAPS SO HARD
I liked corruption because it felt more like a lived in universe. The Federation feels like it's an actual force and I'm super surprised you didn't mention that awesome scene when you lower the planetary shields and the federation fighters swoop down and start raising hell. Then soldiers are assigned to guard the landing pads. I thought that was so cool. Here, getting to meet the people youre fighting for really helps that part of the story hit home
I feel like they bit off more than they could chew. The universe felt small and like a discount Halo. They ruined the best part of the Metroid series, which is isolation and deep atmosphere

It might have been finnicky at times with the pumping and stuff but the rest worked very well imho. All in all I liked Corruption a lot, it was a very satisfying conclusion to the trilogy at the time.
I feel like I got lucky with motion controls. I never had any issue with stuff not tracking right or messing up anything.
I always liked how the Corrupted Aurora Unit final boss serves a similar function to a Mother Brain battle, at least thematically. It felt like a fitting finale to the Prime Trilogy.
Thematically, yes, I think it's a great way to end things. But man, I just really can't get over how lame the fight itself is.
@@Kohana64 Oh well. At least Phaaze was really cool imo.
I figured out why I never had the key "motion controls" fail me but always come by people saying it doesn't work reliably:
Pushing and pulling on the wii remote are not a "motion sensor" input bur rather an IR camera action, so you literally only have to move your wii remote CLOSER or FURTHER from the TV, not yank it or stab at it, the wii remote can tell how much you varied the distance from a to b by the distance between the dots of the sensor bar, the wii's gyro/accelerometer don't have to "feel" anything. That's it, thank you for reading.
(PS: I mean I "figured out" that people seem to confuse the type of action, not that I didn't know the difference, some people never played Warioware and it shows)
I love the trilogy as a whole, my favorite is Prime 1 but each sequel brought the experience in to anothe level
yeah im finally starting to realize that prime 3 is better than i initially thought, can't wait for prime 4
Really nice wrap up of the prime trilogy, I hope when prime 4 comes out it includes everything you spoke about near the end :)
It's been A-blast watching you go through all these games. Can't wait for you to cover Metroid prime 4 whenever it comes out. Keep up the good work👍
As someone who plays/played the games on their original consoles, you can tell that Corruption suffers from Wii syndrome.
The loading times on Wii (and Wii U) are atrocious, sometimes you’ll shoot a door and wait a minute or two for it to open
it was like the only wii game where i enjoyed the implementation of waggleshit in gameplay
it's kinda egregious that they had to use it for banal shit like opening doors but in (some) puzzle solving and combat its fun
@@techwiz81 Worth hacking your Wii for to play it off of a hard drive (or buy it on the Wii U eshop). Improves the loading.
Totally true. The stakes keep getting higher and higher between each game.
Oh come. Prime 3 at least had an good ending ( till Prime 4 comes ) and the game is still good.
What a good retrospective series. Listened to all three back to back to back. Subscribed.
Just found these videos and binged them all. Metroid has always been my favorite franchise and how I got into gaming in the first place. I’m always happy to see my beloved franchise get the love it deserves from people.
Thanks for checking them out! I love Metroid so much, I hope I can revisit the topic soon.
Ikr! There were so many cool achievements to earn in the game like that one. This game was incredibly fun!
Can’t fault you for not noticing how long it takes, that song is damn beautiful. Hope you enjoy the rest of the video!
LET'S GOOO
Maybe I'm crazy, but I never felt as attached to the concept of "isolation" in Metroid games as other people seem to, so I very much welcomed the addition of NPCs and a story and all that.
Absolutely amazing video! I thought you expertly articulated your thoughts and gave a great retrospective on corruption! I look forward too your next project whatever it may be!
Thank you so much!
Definitely a watching you first video once I beat prime and if this ever comes out on switch this too
This was my first introduction to the Prime trilogy, as I only grew up with a Wii, and one of the games we got from the flea market was Prime 3.
@@rmsgrey On the hardest difficulty, the second phase of Aurora Unit makes you heart beat faster lol.
Corruption was dope imo, the wii controls may have been annoying for some, but all of those wiimote puzzles go by so quick when you have an actual wiimote,
I barely noticed them at all. I thought the story was incredible, the locations were all unique looking, and as you went along you began to feel terrible for the
bounty hunters you were taking out because you ultimately had no choice. The late game was awesome, fighting dark samus while excessively saturated with phazon
was epic. It was my first prime I really played, so luckily, I didn't really "experience" any of its problems
That makes total sense! I’m happy you enjoyed it so much
God damn I love the title soundtrack to this game.
ooh i've been waiting for this one
I wish we could have used the gunships missile strikes on bosses. That was a neat upgrade for solving puzzles
(35:45)
I played this game so many times already, yet i somehow only now discovered that you can track Ridley easily through your radar in the top left corner. WHAT
Honestly, i’ve never once paid attention to that in any Prime game LMFAO.
I'm open to this as long as it is done well and doesn't take away from the core prime experience.
just watched both other videos, great work :D
I fully relate to you on Elysia being tedious. I almost dropped playing the game in that part despite being one of the coolest looking areas.
You earned yourself a subscriber. Can't wait for the Other M video. And hopefully others!
Great commentary, these videos were a joy to watch!
i respect their way of trying to flesh out the world samus occupies but i’ve always felt they metroid is the encapsulation of ‘actions speak louder then words’ i sort of like the idea that in my own head canon i’ve never heard samus say a word (probably in a lot of peoples tbh)
Very well done video. I'm even more hyped for Prime 4 now!
I loved this game. It’s an awesome climax and made me actually appreciate the story of the first two games
What I'd like to see in Prime 4 is some proper sequence breaks like you can pull off in Super or Dread, NOT something glitch based or something that defies all logic like scan dashing.
Beautifully done sir.
Skytown is amazing.
Prime 4 needs to be open world like that new Halo game if it's going to achieve replayable
Keep it up, your videos are great.
Amazing video as usual! Keep it up! I love your content so much
Thanks so much man. It means a lot!
Godspeed young one
Well, the trailer for Prime 4 finally came out! It looks incredible, and the fans are more hyped than ever
I miss motion control in the Switch era.
Nice retrospective!
The design of the corrupted Aurora Unit is haunting...
Love these kind of videos. Just subbed from the recommendation of someone else I'm a fan of. I'll be sure to check this out in full and all your other videos very soon.
Thanks for checking it out! I appreciate it
Another absolute banger of a retrospective, keep up the good work my man!
Dude, great video. I share most of your feelings on Prime 3. I subbed, hope you make some great Prime 4 content
Thank you! I respect your love of corruption, I think it's totally valid.
3:23 I believe that is incorrect. You see inside the gunship in Metroid Prime Hunters.
But just in case you're interested, here's where all my challenge runs ended:
-Prime 1: Omega Pirate
-Prime 2: Quadraxis
-Prime 3: Literally the final phase of the final boss
I loved that game
Great bosses, cool cutscenes and sequences, it sacrificed a lot that made the first two great but did it different enough to make it amazing to me
I loved corruption and the wii. I hope to see a VR game similar to this. Great video!
Prime 3 is my favorite of the prime games and my top 3 Metroid games - I will buy it if they remake it
After playing all three, I legit cannot pick a favorite.
Prime 3 was actually my favourite
21:54 and also, WHY WOULD A DEMOLITION CREW HAVE WEAK ARMOR?????
The main thing that was missing was no timed escape run from a dying Phaze. Samus is no stranger to destroying planets, but Phaze is the only planet Samus destroys that DOESN’T have an escape sequence, and it all happens off screen.
I only every played 3 which sounds crazy but it made me absolutely love the metroid series. I'm currently playing prime and echoes on dolphin primehack. It's actually more enjoyable to play it like an FPS on pc in my opinion and I hope Nintendo will one day allow metroid games come out on the PC.
I swear Imma shed tears when I get my hands on prime 4.
Good retro, but not using the pointer controls is criminal. That's the reason why I liked Metroid Prime 3 over 1 & 2 initially. Best aiming on a console, and the 60FPS helped as well.
Mouse and keyboard may make the game easier, but they’re in a league of their own when it comes to comfort and enjoyment.
Going through Magmoor or anywhere in the three games don't take that much time. This guy is just mostly complaining about his short attention span.
I highly recommend Federation force. It is genuinely the most fun multiplayer experience I’ve ever had. if you can get some friends together I couldn’t recommend it enough. It’s fun playing it alone but playing it with other people is the best way to experience it. It deserves more credit than what most people give it and most of the people that complain about the game haven’t even played it
Looking at the footage of Metroid Prime 3 without the motion control looks so weird to me, and just proves that yes it is possible to port that game to the Switch.
man I forgot about that metroid prime 3 intro. Chills
corruption is my second favorite in the trilogy.
What didnt beat it????. This is a new idea to me im definitely watching this vid. I agree with the back tracking in the magma area.
Check my Zone of ender vids. You heard of Zone of the enders. Its my all time fav
@@kiwisoup Exactly. The only people on the whole planet want to kill me. lol
hypermode overloads so you have to rapidly shoot to off gas.
Immediately subbed 10 mins in, after this showed up in my recommended. You’re gonna be at 10K subs in no time.
Who do you think you are ? 🤔
@@Training_Wheels I don’t know can you tell me? It’s such a struggle for me existentially.
We got that beautiful prime 4 trailer 😩
I really like your prime views. You hit all the right key points of what makes prime .. prime. Prime 2 will always be my favourite game so these reviews and your opinions resonate with me and alot of your viewers for sure
Also i really wish they put a main boss in the G.F.S vallhala when unlocking the code for the wormhole instead of the laughing stock instakill omega metroid. A meaty boss here wouldve been welcomed.
Even a secret boss only accessible with all 9 energy tanks would be awesome. Thanks for watching!
I’m the odd one out. Prime 1 is my favorite, 2 is my least favorite, and 3 was right in the middle. I liked the extra characters and story.
Menu theme is absolutely goated
Now after the remaster of 1 I can't wait for the other two
The demolition guys are essentially combat engineers.
This is my first ever metroid , i loved it and i still
I'm kind of the opposite about this.
This game got me into the idea of ominous theme music for games before Halo did
Great vid, easy sub from me!
Metroid Prime 3 is my second favorite Metroid game right behind Prime 1.
Loved Corruption so much,
When I was 12 I just wanted a shooter for the Wii to use a gun peripheral. Needless to say I got lost almost immediately and gave up. Currently midday through Echoes, so looking forward to trying this one out again soon.
