For those asking, no I didn’t specifically mess with the frame rate of the Spider-Verse clips.
I don't actually know why scenes in the clips have higher fps. There are 2 potential reasons.
1. The whole video was exported in 60fps with a high bitrate. Ive done it for some of my videos in the past, and often it’s because I don’t really care about the fps of a video. just like how the resolution for some of my videos changes constantly because I don’t care about it. In this case, I wanted this video to be very high quality in comparison to my other videos so I exported the whole video with max settings. Bitrate, Resolution, and FPs. I dunno, I'm not a technical person so that may or may not be the case.
2. I screen-record all my videos, so it's possible that all my footage was taken from a channel that changed the fps. Honestly, I don't remember since I made this so long ago. If this was the case then you should know that I didn’t purposely look for clips with higher frame rates, honestly I don’t think I even noticed the clips looked different.
Yeah so, just in case you typing that comment right now, I didn’t raise the fps of Spider-verse because I hated the animation or something. I love it just as much as the next person. the changing of the fps was unintentional. I didn't even notice the frame rate was higher until people pointed it out a while after I uploaded this.
that's not how exporting works lmao
Loved the video anyway !
@@pojo_quiet Oh really? well, I'm not really a technical person, I was just stating what I think happened.
@@charliecook3717 Thank You
@@WarpingFist not trying to say you did it in bad faith, my guess is the clips you downloaded were interpolated to 60fps and you didn't notice
if they were in the normal frame rates when you downloaded them even when you exported in 60 fps your editing software wouldn't invent new frames unless you added the proper effects for it to do so, it would simply repeat the same frames
it's an honest mistake I just find it very ironic since the video is about the art of the movie with clips that disregard that art
Sony really struck gold with Spider-Verse, so rather than put all focus into live action they should focus more on the animated films.
I agree
oh boy they did it again
Except ITSV made same amount of money as Shazam 1 . While costing little less then The Amazing Spider-Man movies
They’re obviously pushing spider verse the most with marketing, but I like that they’re not pushing out animated movies like that.
They gave them enough time to make across the spider verse just as great as the first one, and I’d rather keep that than see a new one twice a year.
@@everythingsuper9133 and they'll do it again in less than a year's time
10:39 "Fake-ass Spiderman owned by wall" Animators got no chill 😂
I remember the Blu Ray release featured this version of the movie and it was a very different movie. But I appreciate the final film much more. What was not in this cut was that the directors made a trailer which had a grittier tone. For instance, when Spider-Man gets blasted by the beam that opens the dimensions, he actually dies. Featuring his face burning to nothing with an image of Peter's screaming skull and half his mask ripping away. And his tombstone said he was born in 2001. Meaning he was 17 years old when he died.
God, that sounds dark. The part where spider-man gets incinerated is featured in the animatic video from Alberto Mielgo.
@@WarpingFist Yup. I remember watching that and it definitely had a sinister feel than the finished product.
is there a link where i can watch this?
@@jalenmatthew7796 I’m on mobile so I don’t have a link but search ‘Spiderverse scrapped storyboards’
With regards to the Peter only being 17 thing they were being accurate to the source material here. That would have been about how old Peter was in the Ultimate universe when he died. Which is what lead to Miles taking up the mantle of Spider-Man. Just like in the movie. The whole having his face burnt off thing is definitely pretty gruesome though. I can see why that didn't make it in the final cut.
About Ganke being majorly cut from the final film, the main reason Lord and Miller gave was that Spider-Man: Homecoming had just been released and adapted a lot of Gankes character into Ned Leeds. The directors of Spider-Verse saw this and thus didn’t want to seem like they were doing the same character again, and thus his appearance was cut down to a few scenes and little development
Finding out that a man like Alberto got fired over how to make the movie, I feel conflicted.
I would’ve enjoyed seeing how a more grounded setting would’ve turned out artistically, especially after personally buying the art book and seeing the animatics.
But I will never deny how much I love the way they took advantage of the cartoony setting to to include characters from vastly different worlds, and put them in the same room.
Examples:
-Noir is straight from a black and white movie.
-Penny is expressive as heck, with a killer mech.
-Spider-Ham is pure cartoon magic.
(They need to call back the mallet he gave miles)
And I would never want to lose this.
They gonna include spider ham either way I guess he probably look like his spider verse comic look.
I love Alberto but I'm not sure the tone he wanted would have worked for a Spider-Man movie. It could still be a great movie but much more divisive/controversial. In the end I think it was better that Spider-verse ended up the way it is and now he gets to explore adult themes in his short films
@@iancruz6617 I mean we really dont know if spider ham would have been in the movie originally, and even so he probably would look different since AQlberto's style tried very herd to not have clean lines or symmetry with the designs
@@takahashierik I'd love to see it for an animated Miguel O'Hara movie. Spider-man 2099 could definitely benefit from Alberto's style.
They should have a universe that uses his artstyle with a more realistically proportioned Spider-Man to pay homage to his influence.
The thing is that Into The Spider-Verse has passionate producers, it's not really Sony that is doing the work here, if it didn't had Phil Lord and Chris Miller I believe this would have turn out like the Emoji movie, when Sony doesn't have those good people in charge, we get things like Morbius or the upcoming El Muerto movie
Yeah, when it comes to creating amazing films like spider-verse, you need to assemble a team who actually care deeply about the characters and world.
THE PORTAL HIS PARENTS FALL INTO IS SPOT FROM ACROSS THE SPIDER VERSE I CAN'T BELIEVE IT THEY PLANNED IT ALL ALONG
The portal scene is probably connected with The Spot.
YES MY THOUGHTS EXACTLY
It's suprising how SONY is ruining their own live action Spider-Verse connections to Tom Holland Spider-Man because Spider-Man No Way Home was great IMO, Into the Spider-Verse, Across the Spider-Verse, and Beyond the Spider-Verse are going to be awesome, But still, SONY really needs to get their act together, Fantastic video overall because I do enjoy them a lot.
Probably Amy Pascal's fault
Apparently they plan to connect SSU and MCU together for Tom to fight the SSU villains
@@gentlesavage2068she produced spiderverse lol 🤣
@@itsgeegra It's pretty obvious that Lord and Miller are the secret sauce when it came to how good the story was though
@@gentlesavage2068 true, but producers seem to get the blame for when a film is bad but nothing when it's good
Ive got to say that even after seeing th eoriginal art, I do prefer the finished product. If alberto and his team worked on their own film thoguh, I would watch it no doubt
Alberto’s definitely has a more dark and chaotic energy
@@WarpingFist But the finished one had the exagerrated swagger energy.
😅
A Spider-Man 2099 series would be cool to see from him honestly
11:29 cool to see this concept come back in "Across the Spider-verse"
just wanna say THANK YOU SO MUCH for putting the links to where you found the concept art/footage in the description.
I've been trying to look for that concept animation of Spider-Man looking in the mirror for so long. It's nice how it made it into the final film for a couple seconds during the opening credits
Thank you, it definitely was a massive nightmare trying to find the test footage
IF Marvel was smart, they'd lean into the unbelieveable potential of animation, they should hire Alberto Mielgo for a Fantastic Four animated film, that would be surreal.
Imagine a 2d super hero movie with very detailed framerates.
Alberto Mielgo's animation would fit in a classic Spider-Man adaptation
i didn't know alex hirsch worked on this
11:26 I guess we could say that aged well
Pretty sad that the miles video game is really the only thing to actually use Ganke. He’s not in any of the cartoons, and in the spider-verse film he’s essentially an Easter egg
Ned from the MCU basically destroyed most chances of Ganke playing a major part in any Miles adaptation. The only piece of media where he's actually a major figure in Miles's story is the comics and the ps4 game.
I am perfectly fine with the current approach Spider-Verse took, but Alberto's vision was badass! I love the edgier grittier feel with the brushed lines, realistic character designs and shakey camera. It feels not only cool but also very personal and radiates a lot of soul. The director for Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem did suggest how the 2D/3D merge style appeals because it is imperfect looking, and people connect with that. That is the case with Alberto's vision.
Tron Uprising is absolutely phenomenal. So underrated
I remember obsessing over it when it was first airing. I wonder what happend to it.
@@WarpingFist got canceled after season 1. It’s on Disney +. Looked like a really expensive show so the viewership probably needed to be very high for it to continue. It had such a compelling story, animation, and music
Such a shame it only had 1 season
11:28 this definitely inspired them for that one scene with the spot in atsv
12:58 Now I want this chaotic cut to be released someday
upset how they turned ganke into ned in the holland Spiderman movies and seeing miles and gankes interactions via the story board reminds a lot about the time ned discovered peter was Spiderman in homecoming
I’m not sure why Ned was pretty much Ganke with a different name but it’ll be interesting to see how his character will be portrayed when he inevitably shows up in the MCU
“Fake ass Spider-Man owned by wall!” 😂
I'm glad Spider-Verse got as far as it did, great video, I was wondering if you'd ever do a video on the cancelled movie Justice League Mortal
That’s in the pipeline
Really glad we got the version we got. The whole "kid gets superpowers and meets friend who wants him to become a superhero" thing is so overdone.
11:33 Yoooooo
Holy foreshadowing lol
Every time my parents complain a movie we watch is a "cartoon" I want to drag them across the roof like Prowler did
This is crazy cause one of if not the ONLY problem I had with Into The Spider-Verse is that Miles goes from NOT understanding how to use his powers AT ALL to being a PRO by the end because of ONE scene😭. And now I know originally he apparently goes through such a HARD time which actually SEPARATES him from Peter who was able to fight off PRO hero teams from the jump
Right, the training montage is the one sequence that should've been used in the final film.
Well when you think about it, the whole movie is him training and learning methods to use his powers. Miles just never had faith in himself, he never thought he could be like them and that he needed MUCH more time to be even remotely ready. Also even after we see him fail to use his powers and struggle a bit, an example is right before Miles get his “let’s do this one last time” he’s showing how he can walk on walls and he slips off.
This is not true at all, The whole film is Miles's training in real time. He was not a so called "pro" in the end. He was still making mistakes, but got better.
@@IronheartvsMiles Exactly. And once we get to the leap of faith scene, he believes in himself and let’s go of his fears to become the hero he was destined to be. But with his own spin on it.
Quality, never stop
I love watching your videos and how well edited they are! Glad that this movie is finally getting coverage from you!
Dude this video was insanse. I’m glad too see how far you’ve come since the spiderman movie videos. I can’t wait too see what you make in the future!
Thank you 🙏
I want a animated solo Spider-Man 2099 movie
That would be dope🕷
10:38 "Fake-ass Spiderman owned by wall" 💀
Now that I know that both Alex Hirsch and Alberto Mielgo both worked on this movie, it's greatness makes a lot more sense to me.
This is why I don’t like young humans dying everyday they can do great things
I feel like you should do a part 2 to this video since there's way more concept arts of Spider-Verse out there and is there a likelihood of a insomniac Spider-Man Miles Morales video coming soon? Of course you gotta do the PS4 Spider-Man game first. Really love this video too and Miles Morales too (which is why I ask about the game first)
Definitely a video about Spider-Man ps4. When it comes to Miles Morales, I'm not too sure. Really depends on how much interesting content I can even talk about.
14:20 it's a shame they canceled TRON uprising after a BIG cliffhanger. I hate it when stuff like that happens
the amount of detail, thought, care, and enthusiasm u put into ur videos really shows. proud subscriber, keep it up warpingfist
absolutely great video
just one thing, if I'm not mistaken, originally it was supposed to be tasm 3 (but in animation so they don't have to use such a big budget ) Which ended up becoming a solo Miles movie and then the other spiders were added.
“Fake Ass Spider owned by wall” lmao
Great summary! Really love the visuals and presentation style. Only recommendation would be to be careful with audio, because there were a few peaks/scratches/blips throughout the video (mostly at the end).
It would be so cool if they could do more animated Spider-Man films like this after the "Spider-Verse" trilogy. Like with Peter, Noir, 2099, Gwen, Spider-Ham, & Penny Parker
don’t get me wrong, the first and second SV films are unquestionably some of the best animated films in history, but a darker, grittier and even a bit gorier spider verse movie would have been AWESOME
Am I the only one that would have LOVED to see the fully realized 3 hour darker, grittier more grounded fleshed our version of Alberto Mielgo's vision.
I mean don't get me wrong, I absolutely love the finished product version that we got. But after seeing all this and the original more realistic damn near hard rated pg-13 version they were going for, I gotta say I would much rather preferred this one.
But I realize that they were going for a family friendly Spider-man animated film. Which come on, Spider-man is ultimately family friendly. But for comic book fans like me, we know better.
This original version overall with it's drawings and detailed images would have been so much more BADASS!!!
P.S. The final Night Suit they never used for Miles Morales Spider-man should totally be a downloadable skin for Miles to were in Marvel's Spider-man 2!!!
the visions of the portals in the early development of into the spiderverse is shockingly similar to how spot’s portals and visions look and feel in the new Across the Spiderverse
The fact amazing content like this doesnt have 100,000 or more subs is actually so surprising.
I hate how Tom Holland's MCU Spider-man basically stole Genke from Miles' storyline. So now Morales can't use him in the same way.
I always found behind the scenes stuff interesting so it was pretty interesting hearing about the "alternate universe cut", I almost kind of wished Genki played a big role but I understand why they changed it, what I am interested is though is how Genki would work with the spiderpeople. I could see a movie where Genki, Miles, and Peter B Parker go on a wacky journey but it's kind of harder for me to imagine Genki, Miles, Peter B parker, Gwen, Peni, Spider-Ham, and Spider-man noir going on a journey, and I wonder how Genki would've interacted with those characters. Also another thing I found interesting was the nightmare scene, more specifically the black... goo, gop, slime, spots? I don't know what they're called. What I was mean is the black spots that surround Miles' family during the nightmare scene, I might be wrong but I feel like it at least partly inspired the scene in Across the spider-verse where Miles is knocked out and gets a hallucination of Spot destroying the multiverse. I know I just rambled on about basically nothing but this kinda stuff amazes me which is why I LOVE seeing things scrapped in media, it simply makes me thing what could've been and what was recycled for future media.
The first cut still sounded pretty good imo
20:34, She looks like that girl from that Love Death Robots episode
I love how much care they tie certain ideas together!!!
Love the new intro looks incredible
alberto mielgo is really changing the animation world from the background
i think mielgo had a undeniable effect on how the stylistic materials, background elements, colors and you can see his style A LOT in the final film with almost everything except proportions.
11:26 they had spot planned all along that’s actually crazy
its crazy that without mielgo we wouldn’t have our spider verse but we would also have a totally different spider verse if he didn’t get kicked off
11:33 SPOT FUTURE??
This was a great, insightful video. Very, very well done!
10:41 WHAT😂😂😂
Not only was this a great video essay about Spidey, but one of the best video essays I’ve ever seen! Good job dude 👍🏼
Just wanna tell you man that I absolutely love your videos and I get a rush every time I see you've released a new video. Keep up the great work brother 🤟
Wow, thank you 😁
@@WarpingFist this is why I don’t like young humans dying everyday because humans can do a lot of things and help us
Incredibly well documented video! It's crazy to see how much Spiderverse changed throughout the project's lifetime.
I hope a finished version of the alternate universe cut gets released, it looks just as good as the theatrical release
If Spiderverse didn’t work, I can honestly see Sony just saying fuck it and giving their rights to Disney. Thank god it worked tho
The end result is very telling. Unfortunate to say, cutting out Genki was the right choice to make. Too many characters that have to fit in to the movie and we've seen that kind of development of "the boy that doesn't want to be a hero and wants to be normal" many times already. In the beginning of the video, it's stated that they wanted to do something completely different from the other Spidermans and wanted it to be popping fun.
In the end, kids won't understand the whole "don't wanna be a hero" thing. They're dreamers. They came to the movie to watch a superhero because they want to dream of being one. So the entire idea of "not wanting to be a hero" is just irrelevant.
The movie needed to be fast and needed to get straight to the point. It can't stay in one place for longer than 5 minutes. And Miles' development can't really afford being with Genki the entire time when there's so much more potential to be had with the rest of the spidermans.
They had about 2 hours to work with and a TON of animating to do. If it's for the kids, there doesn't need to be much said.
No matter what the behind the scenes were, it's very clear the direction they took were all justified. I'm just glad they were given time and that they were willing to experiment with so many things.
27:09 that straight up looks like a mix between a Tachikoma and Tokki, D.Va's mech.
Looks like I didn't make it in ☹️, but I understand. Always excited for what's next! Great job as always. 👍
your photo appears at 1:04
@@WarpingFist oh wow, I didn't see that at all man, that's dope, thx! Sending a screenshot to all of Noah's family right now. That's super fkn cool of you.
After watching Across the Spider-Verse, all of Peter B. Parker's cut quotes like "you have to think sbout saving *_ONE_* person, Miles..." hits hard and makes more sense. Sony's been planning their trilogy from the beginning. They've been planting the seeds for the Spider-Verse this whole time and props to all the animators, writers, actors, and Stan Lee for making it happen today.
damn i kinda wish we got more ganke
We probably will in the upcoming sequel
bro did his RESEARCH!!!
the final film is way more concise, i'm glad it got cut down even if some of the earlier stuff was cool
I honestly wish that they gave Ganke lines
22:34 THE HAIRCUT FROM EARTH 42 !!!
Yo that's so cool, they used the original mech design in across the spiderverse
This was entertaining and enlightening.
They cut genki from Spiderverse because they used his look and personality on Ned.
Now, he's in "Across the Spider-Verse" seeing him playing Spider-Man 2 on his PS5.
What's really cool is not only did the animation test shot make it into the movie, it made it into the credits of the second movie!
Alex hirschworked on spiderverse? WHAAAT!?
It's just so fascinationg. seeing extended shots of Peter chasing Prowler on his bike really brought back memories from the 2017 teaser trailer , which also made the movie look so different, in that teaser the movie seemed so much more serious and "grounded" than the final product. I love the spider-verse movies with all my heart
We need the Ganke cut!
Good Job Warp this was a GOOD VIDEO
I always wanted to see spiderman from the 90s cartoon and the spiderman from the spectacular spiderman cartoons come into spider verse since both cartoon did not get to keep going and both had awesome voices.
Luckily we might see both of them in across the spider-verse
Can you do a video on the development of Man of Steel as well as the long production hell on its sequel?
It's canned
The development of man of Steel and the cancellation of the sequel will be touched upon in the “Legacy Of The Dceu” video.
Love your videos brother
23:38 hey snikt is a wolverine reference I never noticed that man
20:55 I SAW THAT AND I 100% AGREE
Warping fist, I have to say this is a masterpiece.
Is someone able to find more storyboard versions of scenes? Peter B.'s backstory, the Alchemax break, arriving at May's, etc?
Looking at the alternate universe cut and what they could’ve done, they should save that for a tv series it would make a great cartoon
I hope Nicolas Cage comes back as Spider-Man noir
Same
Excellent break down on just how much went into developing the movie’s signature style
Great video! 😃
Excelent video edition and narrative, love this, thank you so much for all of this information.

This comment is mainly focused on Sandman, his daughter in "Spider-man 3" and Mephisto (I think I'm getting a bit desperate in getting a reply to this comment):
I sometimes like to imagine Mephisto appearing in front of his daughter, offering one simple deal, and all of her daddy's problems, including her own, are gone (no, the deal does not include undoing uncle Ben's fate). She just needs to take her father's powers. Of course, considering we're not even sure if that's the real Flint Marko or a sand based copy of his body and memories, the prince is, her soul becomes his (you work out the consequences of her body being maintained by a soul that she does not keep close).
Peni parker is only thing that i watch this movie for, nothing personal just a anime fan
Im a big fan as well. I mostly watched it because I’m a spider-man fan but Penni Parkers presence also played a big role
