    Very well said. You definitely can self-teach and learn just about anything on the internet with the right drive and passion. If one's path is via school, so be it. If an alternate path is completely non-traditional, then so be that as well. Let passion be your guiding light.

      I disagree, learning from free online UA-cam you’re learning other people’s processes and very different methods. The learning curve is incredibly slow. Find someone you like to learn from and stick with them hopefully. Sure you may learn, but most tutorials are do this do that and not “this is why we are doing this and why it’s important.”

    You are truly a special person, i at first thought i was to become an Attorney, but i hated my job, clients, some of my colleagues. The reality is what you said at the end of the video, ‘do something that inspires you’. After loosing both of my parents and one of my cats in the two years i hope that i will soon be able to start to recreate in VFX just like you. I just first have to finish the painful process of finishing/closing my parents estate. I never thought that this would take almost every bit of energy out of me. But yes my future will look bright, for the first time it is only up to me what i create and of course in the process of as this gets more intense, i will be able to support my cats and of course myself. Every time then i see your big office with all the computers, but no people yet bc of covid 19, i hope that i will in some time come to a similar stage there i will not work out of my apartment/ home office anymore, but out of an professional environment. And just like you i love SciFi, especially spaceships, Dark Matter was actually my most recent favorite sci-fi show and the CG & VFX effects of it were out of this world. But i guess we all need goals/dreams to challenge us to work even harder and of course to create more awesome/ real looking things, no matter what it is. I hope that my few words of wisdom will maybe inspire more of you to follow your heart and do what is your dream, not just a monthly paycheck, its hard to believe but that is as close to being death as you can be while still being alive. Like Andrey said lets get to our computers and create something, even if that means that you have to change your favorite Laptop/PC and use one better suited for VFX. Its just part of the Journey.

    It took several weeks just for a single project.
    Just never give up, everything takes suck an incredible amount of effort and time.
    Keep in mind, in your demo reel, put just the 3 best project you did. And it shouldn’t be last more than 1min, 30 sec it’s better.

    The first video I watched of yours was “How to create HDRI maps”. It was a random search online because I really wanted to create my own maps. But, deep down inside I just have a burning passion for learning how things work, I feel honestly that doing so give the knowledge it takes to produce intentional master pieces.
    I completely agree with your approach with learning. Because of your positivity I’ve started learning Nuke. I have 7 years experience using C4D, but I’ve always wanted to make the jump to compositing and FX. Currently working as a creative director and marketing director doesn’t leave me much time to peruse my passions. But you give me hope!

    5:39 is 100% True! i experienced it myself, when i was in highschool i really wanted to create a 3d model of Pokemon, i spent all that years just wondering, how could i create something like that without any sofware and skills? all i have is only Passion, then some time in College, i met a friend that really skilled in 3d modeling, and he introduced me to cinema 4d, i was so amazed and happy at the sametime that i met this guy, he taught me all the basics of 3d and the fundamental tools, within 1 week, i have created 8 pokemon models with a riged body so that i can pose all that models, and then i started to post it on the forum that needs a 3d modeler, i submitted all my models there, and most of them said that there is no way that i could create something like that if i just started using c4d in 1 week,they said that i might took it from somewhere on the internet,and that makes me sad and happy at the same time.. the most important thing in learning, is ur Passion. In 2019, when I got introduced to cinema 4D, I stumbled on this video and laughed at the fact that when I get a motion design job, I won't get that passionate about client work and that I would still need to create my own work. Back then, the idea of getting paid for animating something was a dream, let alone getting burned out from it. Fast forward 5 years to 2024, and I was feeling like shit sucked in the trenches of never-ending work. To my surprise, I couldn't get "passionate" about the paid work; it started becoming choirs. And thank the gods or the universe, an echo of Andrey's voice appeared in my head: "Never stop creating." Thank you so much, Andrey; this video might have just saved me.

    I started with Softimage, then tried Maya, then C4D, then a little 3DSmax, then back to Maya. It is easier than the other software for me. All the tools are in the right place, laid out the right way. And tons of free lessons all over the internet. Now a little Houdini in the mix. It's better to try them all and see which one works best for you. A lot of pro artists use several tools for different things. I'm looking at Blender again because of some new tools that look cool. It's not either/ or. Use whatever helps you get the job done.

    Start creating / "REPLICATING" this is most important part. No one can just go boom and make something pro, it takes time, overcome the learning curve, copy the tutorials, you will be happy but dont just copy, try to understand what you just did, why was a step a node a graph etc was important, dont copy values crank them up and down and remember what they do. Atleast this is what i think, i am still learning, not yet there but i feel confident.

    I had this approach with everything I've wanted to learn how to do and hear someone say the same thing as me is so insane but refreshing at the same time, this way of thinking has made me improve a lot just from doing my own personal projects and overcoming problems you'd face while doing them like problem solving and wanted to do something a certain way that you don't know how to do.

    Hey I love your work on Instagram. You are awesome. I had one question. I'm more into Maya. But there are many things that Cinema 4D can do. And when I try to use Cinema 4D it's quite hard for me. Are there any tutorials on not user interface but explaining the tools for motion graphics. And as Cinema 4D starter what would you advice me ? (I'm not new to 3d and VFX. I've been using Maya for quite a while)

    • @AndreyLebrov
      @AndreyLebrov  6 років тому +2

      Hey,
      Thank you for your kind words ;)
      It should be a painless switch for you, however, some tools in C4D are named differently, so it might be painless but not flawless. When I switched I tried the same approach I would use in Maya and when I got stuck, I was looking for info if there is a similar feature in C4D that I had in Maya. There are a lot of dudes switching and they're posting in forums, writing articles specifically talking about differences and how to overcome them.

    Great video! Loved how you talked about ‘how to think about vfx’. When I was learning how to mix music, I read a book called Zen and the Art of Mixing, and he said on the first page, “I don’t want to change the way you mix, I want to change the way you think about mixing”. Mind set is huge. Thanks for the info and inspo! 🤜🤛

      short answer? A very powerful one.

    • @DA3VNKT
      @DA3VNKT 6 років тому

      if you want it to be portable definitely go for the mac book pro
      If you want a powerful system you can buy some of the pre built PCs. I would recommend a powerful CPU With more cores and clock speeds and stuff as much ram as possible in your pc because Cinema4D, Maya and After Effects are very RAM Hungry Programs

    • @AndreyLebrov
      @AndreyLebrov  6 років тому +1

      Pre-built systems is a bad idea. They always put together components that doesn’t make sense but price goes up. Firstly, build it yourself or find a friend who can build it. It’s easy. Secondly, choose your render engine first. You would need more powerful GPU if it’s a GPU engine and CPU doesn’t matter as much in that case.
