And people say 1977 was the best. Maybe for the Dead, but this is some of Jerry's best guitar work ever!! So.....it's some of the best guitar work ever. Period.
Totally fuckin agree....Jerry just smokes his snappy, crunchy, rhythm guitar profeesionalism while Melvin kicks in a serious kick ass organ takeoff and Jerry then guides his teeth into a kill all heightened crescendo
It indeed was a pleasure !!! Boy I really miss him !!! My soul could use a night with my friend Jerry !! At least I still have most of the memories 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁
This whole tour is brilliant. Jerry was extra sharp. I was working for Ticketmaster at the time, sat right on Jerry's mike three nights in a row, Great Woods and Worcester. I was twenty and tripping.
Dennis Campbell Indeed - I saw the Brendan Byrne show this tour - Bob & Rob were fantastic too. Should have done more of these shows, alas I had little $. Fortunately my $ situation improved by the time the Dead rolled around in October, and I was able to catch a nice chunk of those shows.
I was at this show also and 19 at the time. Still have the ticket stub. It just says "Jerry Garcia" on it and not JGB. I didn't know Bobby and Rob were going to open and I remember thinking that it was basically an alternate version of a Dead show! Same vibes and same crowd!

Man, I always just ❤️ Run for the Roses… i think it’s just one of the funnest, most unique and smart songs i’ve heard. I tend to like the faster tempos on it but this is a good one.👍🏻Can’t wait for the rest.🙏🏻😇
Someone already mentioned this, but Jerry's tone during the late eighties (playing with Tiger) was beyond visceral. I would have loved to hear that sound echo throughout a stadium. Thanks for uploading! Peace...
Friend gave me a free ticket after coming home from 2 nights in Merriweather broke, man sure glad he did!!! JGB 89' was straight church!!! Thanks Dave RIP

I was about 15 rows back dead center. I had a guy and lady ushers getting down. By the time we got to sisters & brothers they were acting like the were in church, which we were, but they lucky old sun, that’s when the really got it. Gave them both hugs after the show was done.
My first JGB show. By sheer luck, I turned a credit card and a pay phone at the day camp where I was working into a well timed call (9:59 am !!) and a 12th row center seat. Bobby and Rob Wasserman opened the show with an acoustic set. Good times and a show recording that doesn't disappoint my memory of some killer jams.
This is simply one of my favorite videos on UA-cam. I was lucky enough to be at this show and the two right before it at Merriweather Post Pavillion. This was the best Deal I ever saw and the crowd was going absolutely bonkers during it. The whole show is amazing showcasing a smiling, happy Jerry at the top of his game. Watch the whole thing, but if you can't, then fast forward to the Deal, then fast forward to the Lonesome and a Long Way From Home. It's...so...good.
We were on the floor about 15 center and there was a guy and a lady working security and they were kind of grooving but when they went into my brothers and sisters they said f it and joined in with every, it was like having church service a the spectrum. Pure bright light love man. Then the lucky old sun, just wow. Was so cool to see 2 people there to work security become totally absorbed by the whole spectacle of it all. I cant imagine what they went home and told thier family's that night. What a time we all had
Nice quality on this. Sweet sound and pitcher!! Play it loud....How sweet it is indeed. I didn't get to this show but did make it to Hartford and Worcester this tour. Lightning in a bottle.....
You know? As lay here watching this? I've come around full circle...Jerry was a different species when playing with his band! Takes many years to come to this
Totally agree...mid to late 80's...I am thankful to have graduated HS in 87...which was the year I saw my 1st show...It wasnt until listening to all of the many recordings of all eras that I do believe both JGB and GD were at their best...which makes sense that if Jerry in JGB was playing at his best at that time also The Dead would as a band be at their best
peter shapiro I went to poplar crick in 83 for the GD. bad place, lots of cops/ feds/ snitch action. spoiled shows for a few months for me. got over it with some needed love & happiness.....
Great shows these were. The only thing I didn't like was the size of the venues. That was always one of the good things about Garcia Band I liked, the smaller places. Still a fucking great show though. Thanks Voodoonola3 for another one.
Wow! I had no idea Gloria Jones passed away I always loved them jerryettes along with everyone else in that band they always made it really feel like you were in church for sure. I will really miss her, just so sad

I think early 80s JGB is peak but I’m starting to love late 80s early 90s. 🤩
Best concert I ever saw ,ever. This show was hot. Hot. Hot. Unreal.
RIP Gloria Jones- I hear those background vocals every time I imagine a JGB song in my head, just as important to the bands sound as Jerry IMO
RIP Marc Bolan
oh no, did she die? I always wondered what happened to her and Jackie. damn. they were incredibly soulful deepness. i'm truly sorry to hear this.
I got to meet n thank them 2 decades afterwards

JGB was always just a little more special. 😎
Agreed. This was a special show.
Garcia never seemed to forget the lyrics with JGB
Caught this show and then off to Hartford and Nassau Coliseum for the next 2 shows. Sheer brilliance throughout.
