Just read your comment. 7 years later, I hope things are good in your world. You painted a beautiful picture in my mind, I definitely feel you brother….tears to the eyes. Going through the good ole’ days myself right now and so happy Garcia’s been a large part of my life. All of him is good but I’m definitely a 78’ - 82’ Garcia head myself. Always felt those years were the peak of his abilities. Cheers!
Haven't been to Penobscot Bay in more than 50 years, but what a beautiful place to listen to this immaculate concert. I'm sitting in the forest of northern Skåne in Sweden and what a concert! Thank You Voodoonola2!!!! You are a HERO! Jerry Lives
Wish I wish I was hanging out with you brother I used to have a girl there Jennifer both years who I really miss who lives up in Maine or actually New Hampshire now
My first show was 81 & loved every minute of every one after ~ there was a real sense of love for the people as well as the band fun connections fun times ~ this won’t happen again that’s the saddest part ❤
I’m drinking a beer at 8:12am in Mississippi after working 5 nights straight about to go try and rest before my 4 kids and wife get home. With that same tear as I reflect on how blessed I’ve been. Peace 2/3/21 😎✌️

one of my fave Sugaree, so amazing... and it just keeps getting better , love Jerry so happy, great video...makes me so happy, and Sitting Here in Limbo is obe of my favorite songs , Jimmy Cliff...but Jerry can sing it to me any day...thank you fof this wonderful happiness 🕉🎶🎶🎶🎶
I always loved Jerry's shows. He had the time to develop solos that reflected his mastery and genius differently than when he was with the band. Here was where he really burned the coal. Thank you. Much love.
Ine of the best JGB shows I've ever attended... WHoever posted this video This ones for you, and me and everyone out there who views it. Amazing Show!!!!
I've watched this over a hundred times easily on my computer, and will continue to do so for years to come. But I especially love the intro cartoon - what a gem!
Once again Amazing.. nice to watch the different years... Still love 78 with Donna and Maria.. but I love Solo Jerry as well... I love the acoustic jams with Grisman.. and the pizza tapes.. got a bootleg at an early 90s show.. love to hear the expanded version with extra banter...I saw Jerry Band at Merriweather in 89 at 17 yrs old.. My second year of shows.. Went at 15 but stayed in Lot..overwhelmed with madness and Album Cover LSD... 1987... RFK DC.. went every year after to multiple shows..
I'm with those who believe this is the best version of Sugaree ever recorded. The Dead were firing on all cylinders when they commenced performing this magical jam. Absolutely perfect.
Taped this show live on the radio back in 1980 when living in NY and wore out the tape. So glad to find this show several years ago on one of many shared music web sites after not hearing it for many years.
That was always a favorite of mine. And the DeadHead hour. These young fans shouldn’t be so hard on themselves You Tube is a great way to hear a lot of shows.
I'm here listening because the Jerry Garcia Band is coming to Hawaii next month, I don't know that I'll make it to the show so I wanted a listen here. Amazing.
Glad I subscribed to your channel; I get an email every time you post a dose of musical history...always high quality! Jerry's tugging those strings into submission!
I'm lovin' it. God I was only 19 years old and playing my own brand of guitar in a college band. Then I found this when I was 50 yrs. old. Wow.... Gerry sounds so in tune here with his guitar as well.
How Big Steve could diss the absolutely incredible playing of Ozzie Ahlers on the keys is beyond me. He is consistently my favorite person that Garcia ever had in that role with JGB, and I absolutely love Melvin, Nicky and Keith! Ozzie is sensational on this Simple Twist!
The fact that they gave their music and talent so Freely by allowing Taping is a blessing... Put on Jerry Band 78 or Grateful dead from 1977 or even 1989 for later Dead.. and Any early Pig (esp1970 IMHO).. meditate, pour a glass of wine, puff/Vape or do what make You mellow and happy and just Go Back... I have been taking care of Alzheimers Parent. Housebound. I have been doing Tours.. all of 1977 and now checking Jerry Band( not as much available) redid all 40 or so of My attended shows etc..
This is such an amazing show Jerry is at the top of his game surrounded by incredible musicians. Hard to believe the drug induced rapid decline he's about to go on.
what an amazing concert, the band plays so well together at this show. I think dear prudence was also part of this concert and man they killed it on that song too. Amazing concert, truly shows off the band's talents. I love it.
This was another Cool Show I remember this still well ~ some of the Happiest Highest Hi lights ~ simple time’s extraordinary times ~ we were lucky to experience this 🦋🤣😳❤
What a great nite of music. Went there with 3 friends, for both the early and the late show. I would always buy the late show tix first, then buy the early show tix if they were still available, cause the late show was usually 2 sets of music. The Capitol was a funny place. During the week in was a porn theater, complete with glory holes in the bathroom stalls. Best memory was getting tickets for the 1978 invitation only show. See it was so much fun..... I'm still on the bus.
this incarnation of JGB. Garcia 🔥with the new ax, playing through Mesa Boogie. Late 1979 and 1980 was a period to behold. (First show 8/30/80 Spectrum)🤗
19 years today we lost Jerry What I saw I loved what I missed I heard later what was to be, sadly, we will never know. All the |Shining Stars that burned so brightly but then became extinguished . We will never forget your name but continue to shake it, shake it,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,thank you
No disrespect to any of the other members of the greatest live band ever . But by far Jerry Garcia band is my favorite non DEAD band to have seen and continue to listen to. I read a article or saw a interview and Jerry was asked if he thought of himself of being a great guitarist and being the very humble Jerry he said nah but maybe if I was to play for 50 yrs, maybe I would. Lol I always hoped he lived long enough to have played 50 yrs. But we fans know that he was a incredible player. RIP JERRY!! Heaven is enjoying your spirit now!!
Sometimes he was so hot, sometimes so tired and wan sounding, ah Heroin. But THIS show, man. He was on fucking fire. I was born at the wrong time, like you said. Sigh.
jerry plays so sweet n slow which i hear is alot harder then playn fast, every note gets appreciated thats a lesson i was given from a 87 ish instrument maker who in his day played with the likes of bill monroe who was known to play pretty darn fast
I didnt catch any dead shows. But one of best friends caught the last show at Soldier Field, so I live a bit vicariously thru him now n again. And yeah, they zapped him good. Thanks Jerry..see ya soon

You were very lucky to be there, congratulations!!!🎉 😊
Such fortune to you! in his glory for sure❤
Superb. It's good to see Jerry so happy. He loved to play. My first concert ever was JGB 1975. It changed my life for the better.
Me too, he came by SUNY New Paltz in maybe 1977, May, not quite sure...
Which s show in 75?
