I don't why this never hit me before. When I was much younger I would go to a mechanic named Sam, whenever I was in over my head. Jonny absolutely reminds me of Sam. Both truly fix things, not just throw parts at the car. And both have the same calm demeanor that comes with experience.
Thirty eight hundred dollars for ONE Porsche headlight - and it's for a ten year old car. Think about that people. You think touchscreens are going to be any cheaper when those go out and need replacing - when most of or nearly all of your car's functions are through the touch screen? My 1988 BMW 750iL doesn't have a single touch screen inside it, buttons everywhere, I am I am so thankful for that.
That silly price is because they sell it as a "sealed unit". For a hazed UV damaged plastic outer shield, you need to buy everything inside as well that's perfectly fine. And these auto companies have the gall to advertise themselves as "green" when this level of pointless obscene waste is designed on purpose to prop up their revenue stream. Barf.
I prefer to remove headlights for restoration (like you did on one of them). Unless of course a bumper or something needs to be removed. Masking is a PITA for me.
I had a glass outer covering headlight on my E34 cop a stone. Had to unglue to disassemble. Took quite a few hours but it was kinda fun to fix it for almost nothing. I had to do the same on me pre facelight E39 which has the usual crazy hazed plastic coverings. It looks cleaner without them even if they were mint
Disa valve repair kit for the m52 that I’ve used works great, the one that you replace the center shaft and the flap with aluminium ones along with new seals. You can try it, not that difficult to rebuild
Whoever does the camera work needs to get up earlier and come in to start filming Jonny earlier in the day so we can see more of him working on cars.😂😅😂😅😂
Great way to spend a part of Saturday afternoon, a Ninja video………..love the injector part, now gently press these in,and johnny pounds it with his hand…😂😂
lol, way better than when Wizard said to use brake fluid on the headlights 🤣 Are you guys set up for alignment? I feel like I've seen you do them in older videos. I'm going to be ordering a set of fox coilovers for my miata in the near future.
You laugh at the wizard, but I tried it and worked reasonably well. The brake fluid removes that yellowed clear coat. You can’t over do it though or you’ll hurt the plastic. But it will buff out with polish.
Some years ago the local Porsche stealership wanted $2300 each for Pepper Car headlights. I got the EXACT same VALEO headlights from ebay for $450. Same stickers, same numbers, same everything. Forget the dealer and shop for parts.
I was just watching a video from a guy that fixes headlights with a torch in like 10 seconds. Perfectly clear. Is that completely fake I wonder? Since some people, like the Ninja, make much more work out of it with sanding and all that.. Is the torch method real or bs?
@TheSilverArrows1 Cool. I am going to give it a try on this old Mitsubishi I got here. Yes melting is for sure a problem. They went over it very quickly with the torch. Instant result. I wonder if it's real. Some people spend lots of money on new headlights.
Be careful using your hands as a hammer , it cost me Weeks off work to have my carpal tunnels operated on as was loosing feelings in had, love the channel
what if you bought non working porsche headlights super cheap then change the lens ...does anyone offer that service ...maybe you could look into that ...i took my headlights apart on my 20 year old chevy truck and resealed them with crystal clear ge silicone like the mercedes repairman showed in his videos on you tube...because they would fog up and allow moisture inside...so i tried because i had nothing to lose by trying it...just a thought to fix really pricey headlights
I've had really good results with 2K clear coat after 1000 grit polish. This was the 2 part spray can type and I'm not a painter. I bet getting them clear coated by a pro would last as long as OEM lights do
A $20 can of resto spray and an hour every 2 years is cheaper than $7600 for a pair of new ones that last ~10 years - as these did. Every plastic headlight cover gets haxed from UV.
Even minor repairs are fun to watch from Jonny.
I got sick of wrenching today, so I decided to check out UA-cam and bam. Here's Jonny

Please have more videos at least 5 times a month, every time u fix a difficult problem its so encouraging and rejuvenating!
Nice job on the headlights! BG makes great products, thanks for supporting the local guys!

You probably could fit a sealed beam with a LOT of duct tape and fabrication but the light output might as well be a single lit candle at night.

When Johnny says something is a pain...man I fricken believe it! 😳
10:10 "Is this going to be more trouble than I want it to be?" Mercedes says yes. :-)
One thing I learned is definitely have a good handheld light in the pocket 😂. That I can honestly say must be his favorite tool.
If they would not make everything out of plastic shit, this unnecessary problem would not exist.

When will you post more videos. You have such great talent. Share it with us!
I have a Mercedes GLE 53, can you do more Mercedes videos

Happy Saturday Ninja video. Thank you for posting. Steve
Car Ninja_ Master.

Car Ninja should be accepting cars from out of state , no from abroad and not restoring headlights.
Love watching your videos but you just post like 2 a month. We want more
More content! World class individual and well made videos
Do people really save that much money bringing their own parts plus no warranty on the work?

He has an alignment rack, @watchjrgo uses it all the time in his videos
@@BenLiftsStuff Maybe that's where I saw it. I was pretty sure I'd seen a video with it.

Disa repair works ok. But not the plastic one, wears out in 3 years.
A 210k mile car is not going to be owned for 210k MORE miles.
How old are you? 😂😂😂
Music is awful 😊. Good video

perfectly safe method as well just requires the right mix of solvents heated up and do not breathe those vapors
As if someone in their right mind is going to take a blowtorch to a thirty eight hundred dollar headlight assembly.
You realise not everything you see on the internet is a good idea?
Leave the blowtorch for making faded plastic seats look better for a few weeks
@@bigjml That's why I am asking 😅 But it seems like you don't have the answers either. 😉
I use Ceramic Headlight Restoration Kit Griot's Garage on my bmw
🫡👍🇸🇪❤️
Be careful using your hands as a hammer , it cost me Weeks off work to have my carpal tunnels operated on as was loosing feelings in had, love the channel
The e46 was such an easy car to work on. I regret selling mine.
Until you need to replace the 2nd and 3rd gear synchros.
Have you sold the Ferrari 360 spider yet?..🤔..
Why not use nitrile o rings?
Polishing is hardly a restoration is it
It shouldn't be called so..😂😂
Love BG products! Their fuel system cleaner is awesome 👍
No lube on the rings?
Car Ninja, I love your channel so much, I just had to subscribe!
I sure wish there were more shops that did european cars in my area. The dealer charges way too much!
Griots garage make a really nice kit. No sanding and actually works pretty good.
Tried it only last a few weeks then there back to looking crap
I’ve never heard someone say oem bmw parts were meant to last.
Love your channel
Jonny should make an audio book for children. His voice is soothing.
👍👍👍👍👍👍
5:05 built to last and BMW rarely spoken.
Thats what Sheldon Cooper said
Great to wake up to on a Sunday! Thanks you :)
Just get a used one for the passenger side
Love the Sheldon Cooper reference! Ta da!
Isn’t that just acetone spray?
Nice!
niiiice .
What kind of car do you actually drive privately? A German car too?
BMW X5 and Ferrari 360 Spider
@@realcarninja. The Wizard couldn’t keep a car half as long as you have. 😊
PLEASE NO MUSIC
How is ninja called Jonny and he is Albanian? I would expect him to be called Gjuraj
Probably his Albanian name translated into English is Johnny.
When immigrants came through Ellis Island many foreign names were Americanized.
@@AnontheGOATJohnny English???
@@frankb5603that’s because no one knew what an umlaut was. 😂
@AnontheGOAT albanians “connect” themselves with america and they use a lot of american names. For them Bill clinton is like uncle sam
What a nice surprise. A Car Ninja video drop 😁

Well, I give up, this music is too bad. All the best for the future, but without me.
Well...bye.
Sylvania headlight restore is a million times better.
Sorry my friend.
restoration lasts for a year or two..new headlights with protective film last forever
At $7,600 no one is replacing them, get real
