Trolls are usually people who have failed in some capacity and are looking to transfer their toxicity to normal successful people. That's been my observation.
As a troll myself, sometimes we transfer toxicity to other trolls/bullies, I usually stop when other people who have lives awknowledge the argument and now they look like idiots
A troll is a person who starts quarrels or upsets people on the Internet to distract and sow discord by posting inflammatory and digressive,[1] extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community (such as a newsgroup, forum, chat room, or blog) with the intent of provoking readers into displaying emotional responses[2] and normalizing tangential discussion,[3] whether for the troll's amusement or a specific gain. Both the noun and the verb forms of "troll" are associated with Internet discourse. However, the word has also been used more widely. Media attention in recent years has equated trolling with online harassment. For example, the mass media have used "troll" to mean "a person who defaces Internet tribute sites with the aim of causing grief to families".[4][5] In addition, depictions of trolling have been included in popular fictional works, such as the HBO television program The Newsroom, in which a main character encounters harassing persons online and tries to infiltrate their circles by posting negative sexual comments.
Yes, good advice, but what to do with trolls that will come back with countless other so-called empty "sock puppet" accounts, no matter how often you block them? They are very annoying, and write comments like "Hi :) It's been a while :) I'm back! And you won't get rid of me! Hehehe! :D :D :D " It's very frusttrating and annoying. What can I do about it?
First I have to say, I don't troll on purpose. Stuff that's going on makes me mad, so I go to the only places I know of where I can vent. People's complacency about justice and human rights also makes me angry. I say things in extreme terms out of anger and disgust, but I hope some of those who are silent may be motivated even to mild or moderate words or actions.
I admit some troll has certainly kinds of strength (a type of "geekiness") I posted some contents on platform, then it came a guy "rather lengthy" passage pointing out my misunderstanding about the field. I first saw this as a sign that he hoped to interact with me, which I kind of longed (as I feel myself being marginal on the platform) Though I still I believe, given he post up a rather long comment, he should perhaps introduce himself first or add some that "Hey I believe your work is great yet I believe in several points, doing this way would be better" And in later comments, I find it more and more irritating . He started to utter boastful words about himself, bragging himself as if he is the most knowledgeable expert of the field. And saying others working in the same field in the forum is negligible. I would say that trolliness may somehow just the other side of geekiness. When you are geek on one thing, you want to express your knowledge on this, but sometimes one will go obesessed. But having explored the relationship between a geek and troll doesn't mean the troll part would give pleasure to others, we somehow need to transform that part to be a lubricant to facilitate the delivery of knowledge you are "sharp" on
Something that would make the problem here to stay would be using the term troll as a defence mechanism. Can you see how this becomes like a paradox? For example if you think that I am being a troll right now Consider as a thought experiment the origin of the term troll being a group of students whom collectively dislike someone and want to cancel them from behind a computer without the courage to confront them in a healthy way. They may fear this person physically or emotionally and have therfore named them a derogitory term (uncreative at that) to make them seem lesser or not worth listening to.. The classic 'evil' troll to be avoided at all cost.. yet no actual harm was done by this PERSON instead the narrative gets pushed into a less strong and less resillient future where drowning in empathy together like going down with the ship seems to be honorable rather than self degrading
I still don't understand what a troll actually is. "Someone who posts antagonizing comments with the goal of provoking and upsetting people." What if two people get in a heated debate about something in the comment section. They naturally make antagonizing comments because they both disagree with each other. Are they both trolls? Anyone who posts a comment that is their honest opinion about something that a lot of people might disagree with....that's a troll? Or is a troll someone who literally goes on a video, sees any random comment, and purposely replies with a disagreeing, insulting comment.....all just for fun just to get a rise out of people? If that's the case, how do you know what people's intent is?
You don't always know intent. This is not a rock solid definition it is subjective, the same can be said for lots of things such as love, honesty, maliciousness ,etc. The latter definition is correct imo, they are not in it for any meaningful conversation. It is like talking to a Jan 6 traitor for instance there is no meaningful debate to be had.
Getting upset by a troll is something I fail to understand. There are even people who commit suicide from being trolled by people they don't even know! You are engaging with a machine for God's sake!
No one likes being bullied. That's a given. 🙄 Also, think of the possibility that the victim could've already been suffering from depression because of previous bullying and they just snap. I know what it's like. I've battled depression before and it's no fun. And just because you don't understand something doesn't mean be a butthole about it. Just saying. You don't know their situation.
Videos pretty dead on except I never troll the innocent, only people who are asking for it. For example self righteous people who stand on soap boxes and smell their own farts..... So essentially everyone on Twitter is fair game.
I am sure I will be accused of trolling, but I am also using my real name. Originally the term troll was created as a racist trope or a racist signal to white people that a person does not belong in this forum. I was there, i know how this was originally used. Usually people calling someone a troll were the trolls. Again Usenet moderators were usually anonymous and the ones who used this trope. And this video does a great job of pointing out that the anonymity gave them power. So the very creators of the term where actually the trolls and they used the new term to shut down controversial topics such as equality and the end of racism in tech. As for the psychology, you just described how racism works. Black people were accused of being "uppity" or controversial or basically trolls when they tried to fight for rights in America. Racists would accuse them of "looking for attention" they craved. The word "troll" itself is newish but the racism behind it is old. The picture you painted of a troll sitting in a chair. It's called DE-anthropomphization, it is meant to dehumanize the person on the other side. A common racist stand as well. And finally I could care less if anyone responds and would rather no one did. My hope is this post stands as a record of the real intent behind the word troll and how racist it is.

How is making people sad or angry akin to pranking? Its not even close. The intent of a prank is to be funny and creative, the intent of trolling is to piss people off or make them depressed. I have seen people that have been pranked laugh most of the time. Its the exact opposite with trolling. The person getting trolled never laughs. You waste your time by wasting it with those that intend to waste your time? That is so stupid i have to wonder if you are trolling. Seems like this generation is without morals. Maybe that's why they are so pissed at older generations for things like slavery. Its all projection. They lack morals so they project that on to everyone else to cope. Pathetic...

It's hardwired into us to desire and need belonging. What trolls do is a lot more evil than they realize.
this was a really helpful video, thank you!!!
You're so welcome!
trolling is fun when its not mean or harmful to people
Videos pretty dead on except I never troll the innocent, only people who are asking for it. For example self righteous people who stand on soap boxes and smell their own farts..... So essentially everyone on Twitter is fair game.
I'm an amateur troll. But I'm working hard to move to the next level and become a pro. 💪
This helped a lot
That's interesting. I never knew the origin. Thanks for sharing. 🙂 And, hey, I'm not even mad. It's informative, right?...
I only needed an explanation of why do people troll in cafe games, they’re really ANNOYING.
1:46 how can the troll say what pizza and then say it’s disgusting and then say the truth hurts if you don’t even know what pizza is😂

Good wisdom.

@@ExoticalT369 Love it!
As a uttp member. If you encounter a troll that is bothering you to an extreme level then please report them or just ignore them. But first please make sure your not over reacting over a harmless troll.
Thank you for this 😊
Good video. Another tip is to report those as well.

So trols are just misrebel and pathetic ppl.
trolls be trolling
Trolling is related to ad Hominem, leaving the actual subject to attack the person rather than their argument or case
Ahhhh, I get it. Trolling means NOT telling people just what they want to hear to make them feel good.
Òkay, I admit it. I'm a troller. I came here to see how i can stop trolling.
Grow up and get a job like an adult
@@bradbarfuss6472 you know people can troll when they have a job
@@trixssbm People who live in the real world and make money dont have time for childish behavior. Part time or dead end jobs just solidify the loser mentality being shown

Trolls are generally young, jobless and lonely, so that’s why they spend their time insulting others for attention

@AK KD That's called not having manners. The internet should be free
Trolls...
Rick_TurkeyMan actually is a fire name idk why
Trolling has the spirit of pranking. Just make sure you don't actually hurt anyone. I prefer reverse pranking/trolling... pranking a prankster. So much fun to waste the time of those who intended to waste mine. Check mate!
Pathetic...
Trolls are baiting to insinuate.
