Just wanted to say thank you! That resolved my error. I'm father of 4 and not alot of money to spend on cost for just trying to figure out the root cause. Your tip helped me and my truck -2006 F-150. God bless you and thanks again for sharing this tip. Brian B.
No worries glad I could help
Used to work parts at oreilleys and people always came in for check engine lights usually since their emissions were due. Never tried to sell anyone. I’d give them the print out and try my best to get them to try a few other options before buying the whole list of things they could have a code for. Good video tho
Good point. I keep forgetting to think about the way the engine moves, too. Worn engine mounts can put strain on wires, pulling them toward hot parts that then cause problems.
Dude! Thank you! I have a new sensor I installed and same issue, checked this out and had same problem, saved me a huge headache!
I just wanted to say thanks here. Have the same year, same model truck with the same problem. The problem with the truck is its throwing a P0705 code, and when looking at the date pid on the scanner for the range sensor its showing its in reverse when in park. Truck will not start in Park, but will start in Neutral. I think this is going to be the smoking gun with the truck here. I really appricate the video, and its right to the point. Thanks again, and take care.
I hope it works for you I seen about 4 trucks with the same problem
Saved me a lot of time and money!!! You have my gratitude. 💪🏼
This video was a lifesaver it was exactly what was wrong
thanks glade it helped
wow this man is very smart , i have one f150 2004 4.6 and i have the same code , i going to try that thank you
Is separating them enough ?!! You probably have a naked wire(s)
Your the man!!
I decided to do what you said and my wires are bare and a few of the wires are disconnected broke in half so great video thx
Glad it helped
Thank you so much for this.
You are so welcome!
Awesome that was the fix you the man!!!!!!!!!
Very very helpful tip!!!
Thanks
Idk if this will get answered, but I'm having this same problem with my 08 scion xb. Replaced the part but my display doesn't show the N or D when i shift gears. Any and all help would be appreciated
My only vehicle a 2001 f150 5.4l V8 the wires became bare at the wire harness to the transmission i cut the wires about 7 inches across and replaced with other wire from a another harness all were the same gauge then I replaced the translation range sensor after the code came up right now my O/D Light is flashing and it won't go into drive gears only reverse and has high rpm in park and in those other gears which is 1250 rpm trying to figure out before spending a ton of money on PCM
Is there a fuse for this sensor?
Thanks a million. Excellent help
Glad it helped!
2013 f150. After I changed the vacuum pump it throws a p0706 p0707 and o45c code. I feel like it has to be wiring. Any direction you can point me in to fix?
pull a wiring diagram and check the wires
@ thanks for the reply. For a couple hundred bucks the local shop found the issue. They said oil or liquid created a short. The only liquid I used was the brake cleaner to clean the back of the block.
Muchas Gracias por la información 100 por ciento ese era mi problema un cable hacía corto
My 03 Mach 1 has a P0708 and P1702. Good indication I might have the same wiring problem or what?
I agree THANK YOU! I have not driven it since, but I found 2 wires frayed. Hopefully I can clear the light. Autozone tried to sell me a $3000 transmission.
I have a Ford explorer 2010 where can I find the wires?
So I have that code on 2014 Nissan armada but I can't find any info on where that sensor even is. I've watched a few videos but they don't have an Armada. I figured I'd ask you because you seem like you'd respond. Thanks
When I get back to work on Monday I’ll look it up for you just need to know what engine size year make and model
@@AutoRepairTips757 awesome thanks. 2014 Nissan Armada SV 5.6L V8 2WD Flex Fuel
Thanks uncle 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
My wire harness has a cover sleeve on it that's already cracked in 1 spot. Do you recommend I take the whole sleeve off and check the wires?
i would at least look at it near the exhaust sys
@@AutoRepairTips757 cool thanks
Is this the same for an 2005 f250 6.0l powerstroke?
Hello I got a 2006 Ford Focus and I got this code today. But I have absolutely no symptoms of the troubles this code causes. Nothing whatsoever. The shifter is on the floor and it's an automatic sometimes when it's in park the p is not illuminated. Can you get OBD code sometimes that are just flukes? Or should I actually wait until I get some symptoms before I take the car and? I did erase the code and I will see if it comes back. Your thoughts?. Thank you!
Sure enjoyed it
Thanks
Where are they on a F-150 Ecoboost?
What size engine?

Can this also be applied to a Nissan Versa?
Same thing happening to my car but before used to go off by itself after few hours of turning off the vehicle. But now it never goes off. And also the shifting from drive to reverse I hear the reverse beep for few seconds then it goes off.
I changed the neutral switch but never went off.
Is it the same issue ? Because the wire are kinda wrapped in the loom which goes to the ECM except a little bit closer to the sensors ?
Should i open up the loom and do the same thing you did ?
Does that go for a 2011 e350 as well as that truck?? Bc my Mercedes has the same code... plz help
its possible but i would need to run some test first
Good stuff 👍
Thanks
I have po705 and po446 could they both me shorting out
If the wires run along side each other it’s possible. But put a scanner on it and look at the reading first it could just be a bad Evaporative Emission Control System Vent Control Circuit.
This happened on my 2000 Nissan Frontier and melted some of the wire and created a short and the vehicle wouldn’t start. I tried repairing the wiring and had no more short. But it fried the neutral safety switch. I had to replace it and it was a pain. I replace it with regular loom and that ended up melting. It didn’t want to start, because it had blown a fuse. I separated the wires like you did and replaced fuse and it started right up. I ended up put high heat rejection loom. A week later the truck started to jerk as if the tranny is having issues and I have a P0705 code. I an wondering if some of those wires further down are sticking together were I didn’t replace the loom by the transmission. I only replaced the loom by the engine where is was disintegrated and melted
its possible the wires are still burnt a little further down
you could said: = FORD 2007 F ONE FIFTY= 🙃 I just wonder./some other upload videos saying same thing on Jeep Grand Cherokees. The thing is that do not happened in all transmission😑... >>>>>>>> Anyway it is helpful your info thanks 👍
I got Kia Optima 2014, have the same problem. Sometimes engine light goes on , when I diagnose it shows the P0705 error . I thought it's time to change the gear oil. Do you think the case is the same ? I got 135000miles on it
It’s possible an easy way to do it please have someone sit in the car while it’s running be careful don’t burn your hands in wiggle the Wiring harness it’s a light blinks then yes it’s the harness
Poor design on the company's part to have wires that exposed and near the tire where it's exposed to the elements.
thought the same. not the best of ideas from engineering standpoint
I have a 2002 mitsubishi eclipse that has a p0705 and is stuck in limp mode and when put in reverse it slams, I changes the neutral safety switch and it helped it some but overall didn't fix it, it's also burning ignition coil number 2 on repeat I tried this and it didn't work is there anything else that could cause this any advice?
Find the issue? Same problem but nobody can answer
But, Did that fix the problem?
Wires touching, and sheathed, is pretty much all wires, so I’m not getting the theory here?
Yes it most definitely fix the problem Two wires shorting out is never a good thing
will this work for a 2015 chevy sonic?
It will work on any car that has wires that are shorted out it doesn’t necessarily have to be that code or that vehicle in the video
One question sir
I have a versa 2015 and I have seen videos saying a short on a rear light can cause this code p0705. Rear lights send voltage to a sensor of the transmission when you go from P to R, N, D etc. so if there's a short on your rear lights that's gonna send incorrect information to the sensors...
Hi JuanEs, thanks for sharing your experience. I also have a versa 2014, and it has a code p0705, and my rear light also had some problem sometimes. It probably because the short on the rear light. How do you solve that peoblem?
@@DY-wh3jv change the bulb but if you have a short it would be better if you change the rear light completely
Please someone help with a suggestion . I have the code P0705 A circuit (PRNDL Input). The car can start in all Positions P,R,D,N .and when it starts it doesnt show which gear the car on the dashboard. instead I get transmision sign with the exclamation mark in Orange and this when the car can go reverse and from second and up but parking sensors are not beeping nor reverse lights .but if I dont see the transmision fault sign, the car go only in first gear up 20km ph.
I changed the range sensor and bought a new battery and tested alternator with a specialist and said its fine which leaves me frustrated . The car is BMW e46 325i / 2001
Two thumbs up
New Battery will fix this code
Thank you for posting this.. I have a 97 accord wagon that's showing this code. I just replaced the neutral safety switch and it wasn't the issue.. the car randomly dies after 1 hour or more of driving. It will start back up but it takes a while. Is there anything you might suggest as to what I might check next?
Try cam shift sensor if it goes car does while driving
@@3jimp thanks! I'm going to try swapping the tcm first, if that doesnt work then I'll try this.
@@itsthinking what did it eventually turn out to be?
Throttle body is dirty maybe
Single mother here !😂
I got my neutral safety switch replaced on my car and now it doesn't crank up unless I do a trick with the gear stick while i put the car in neutral and move it from drive, neutral, reverse, and park then it will start, but when i drive the car and park it and turn it off it doesn't start back up when i try to crank it. What could be the problem with it? It also read the p0705 code
Probably didnt mark where the range sensor was supposed to be when you took it off and put it back on. How did you resolve your issue might i ask?
It’s pronounced zero sir not oh
P0705
