Update on my job 💖bit.ly/3aeNl6x
"women's resting day" omg that's what every company in the world needs to do.
amen!
@MidnightFlower13 Harder? Come on you can't be so close-minded, It's simple, it's bacause guys don't menstruate, some girls have really heavy periods, they lose a lot of blood, so they can feel dizzy, some even get anemia because of it, and it's difficult to go out when you bleed that much, they can have really heavy cramps and because of the pain you can have nausea headaches, etc... It's not just a day off because you're a women, sometimes it's necessary, but statistically speaking that day is almost never use.
I think they did it for the period pains especially on the first day.. i tottaly wld want to use it
That is a dream come true, a literal heaven on earth for women who have severe cramp when their time of the month come :)
I want a job like that were you can sleep and not get in trouble and you have tons of food
😂😂😂
Princess, that's called unemployment, LOL.
Outside of being my own boss/working from home, that sounds like a dream come true! :)
It still amazes me that people wanna work overseas but not...learn the language, like can you imagine how hard and stressful that would be 😂
Amber Jones i am from Norway and the amount of people here that doesn’t want to learn a language but move to “France, or Italy” to live. But here, foreigners with perfect English get shit on because they have broken Norwegian. And that they “shouldn’t come to Norway if they aren’t going to learn the language properly” I’m finding this to be common in western countries, like America, the UK etc
I'm really glad you found this job, I know it's not perfect, of course, but at least it's a place you don't dread going to and you're not surrounded by people you dislike♡ you sounded really happy while talking about it, so I'm just happy you found a place like this
thank you! im really happy that im in the place im in now too :)
Omg it’s so chill with the open work spaces I love it !!!! Cari working so hard filming sick 😭😭😭 ty luv
and the most comfortable bean bag chair ever hahahha
and hehehe love you!!
Omg Nami you‘re literally in every comment section I check nowadays 😂👍🏻
Wow my 2 fav youtubers 💜
TheWolfsan - I work in an open work space and I've also worked in the traditional waterfall corporate environment you're talking about with those ugly ass cubicles. Open workspace wins hands down every single day of the week. The minute I see a company has cubicles I run from the interview. Stop being so arrogant
Wow, a woman's rest day... You're living in the future.
its a beautiful thing!
We all need tea 24/7 😂👍🏻
🙌☕️
Interesting. It’s cool that the company has such a chill vibe. I think even American companies here aren’t that cool! I’m glad you uploaded this video because there aren’t many experiences working in Korea that aren’t teaching. My career is teaching but I still like to hear other perspectives 😊
yeah i got really lucky in so many ways ahhh!
there are american companies just like this, mostly tech companies or start-ups
@@dawnbugXXX yes my job is so chill like this. Food everywhere, a gym, our own cafeteria(with chefs) and a daycare. The company I work for is in a small town in TX so I got lucky.
@@asdfghjkl-oo7lv what do you do?
@@lewistran1 I'm a claims analyst. It doesnt matter what your position is just look for a good company on the fortune 400. There are many positions for only those with a hs diploma.
Thank you for the tour and taking your time to answer subscribers' questions. Very considerate and sweet of you.
" i speak in English, but i absorb everything in korean" yup thats me when i get too tired to reply in korean too lolololol.
really interesting video! Love the tegomasu poster in the background!
I love love love that you have a crazy tea stash a work because I DO TOO!!! Thanks for the glimpse into your work life, it was really fascinating!
I'm so happy I found your channel! we recently went on a holiday to Seoul and I found you and watched some videos for some insight, but after our trip we fell in love with Korea and really want to move there (from Japan) and your videos are so helpful! I know this video is from a long time ago but please keep making content! all insight into your daily life is great and so so helpful! thank you!!
I'm new to your channel and i already love it! I'm impressed by how much effort you put to make your videos ❤
As usual you are so organized with those time stamps! I left my earphones at home so I'll have to watch it at home later (can't do anything in an open office environment without earphones AYK)
I adore your channel. Your camera angles, choice of music and also the way you present yourself fit my video aesthetic. 💜
Oh god your job is one of the job options I have in mind and this helped me a lot actually, I knew it's not common or easy to find a job in Korea but still this gave me some hopes 💓
This was very informative! Thank you. I will share this with my daughter. She is studying Korean and want to go to Korea for atleast a year to learn more about the culture.
Great video! You are always so helpful and full of info!!
wow, thank you Cari for sharing your experience. I am having E7visa in korea and yes i am having some difficult and rare situations too even its been more than a year since i came. But like you, i need to choose the bright side of things and always feel blessed even during struggle. Fighting!
Very informative! I got to know ur channel recently and i loved it, u seriously deserve more views.
Thank you so much for making such videos by explaining clearly 😍🤩
Your video is sooo informative which I'm so thankful for. I've been wanting to get a job in SK for ages but I actually don't have any certificate in anything whatsoever which is what I'm trying to start getting next year in International Studies.
What people DO NEED TO KNOW about a Working Holiday Visa is that you can only get it once. ONCE! Which killed me to find out because shortly I'll be studying Korean is SK for four months and I wanted a visa but I also wanted to work to hopefully fuel me along to stay longer but it just isn't possible considering that I want to work and stay in other countries so a Working Holiday Visa just wasn't going to cut it for me.
Thank you for keeping your information realistic and in depth, I'm sure it'll help not only me as a reminder that I won't be able to land a job just like that, if at all, but help others who seek information just like I am.
Also your job sounds amazing and I think now I want to study that degree!
You are simply an awesome human being Cari!!
Thank you for all your helpful insights and being 100% honest!!
I am always attracted to you for being honest.
I wish you nothing but best and stay healthy and happy.
Peace~
I just watched your video and came up to my suggesting list. I totally agree with you when you are in different situation and culture, you goes through tough times even it is happy story. I felt same here in America as a Korean. Thanks for video have a great day! I miss home😢💜
Your situation sounds so cool! I found your channel this morning (it's time for my monthly "i want to live in Asia. How can I live in Asia" -phase) and you seem really chill and intelligent! Also, your disclaimer was deeply appreciated, without it I might have started to get way too hopeful. Okay bye, now I have to go and watch the rest of your videos!
Thank you for being real “grandma” ❤️ the vid!
It's so nice you're allowed to nap at work. I'm in front of a screen 8 hours a day with my digital marketing job. When I'm really tired, I take a brief nap in the bathroom stall or use my break taking a nap in my car (the worst during cold winters and hot summers).
oyyy i hope that companies start giving their workers more breaks - its been proven that shorter work days make people more productive!!!!
Thank you for this video! Your company sounds amazing and I'm glad you enjoy working there. I was watching this at school but I forgot my headphones so I watched with the auto generated subs and I got to say your diction is amazing for most things to be picked up perfectly!
omg thank god because i've seen some pretty atrocious subs out there hahhahhahah
thanks for making this video for all 🤗😍
Thank you for sharing your office with us! Its nice to see that side! I hope you feel better soon and rest a bit! Have a beautiful week!
thank you for watching and thank you! I'm much better!!!
Your work environment is literally goals. When I get a job (like a career) that’s how I want my office to look 😂😂. I plan to study abroad there so hopefully things will work out for me too!!
It was really interesting and informative! Thank you for the video)
Thanks for watching 💕
Thank you for everything 💛
Hi Cari! I love how generous you are with your knowledge and time, thank you for sharing it with us. I just came back from my first ever trip to Seoul after falling intensely in love with Korean culture for the past year. It definitely made me want to look into the possibility of working there for a shorter period of time, just to see if life there would be something for me in the long run. I will be looking into options soon, and your video makes me feel extra motivated in doing so. Thank you!
Totally know the feeling! Hope you're able to come back here soon :))))
I'm so happy that you found a good company to work for and that it's a good environment for you. I feel like if you find a job that let's you do what you're good at and what you enjoy, you can find joy in working. I know a lot of people go to Korea to be teachers because they've heard it's easy and then end up unhappy because it isn't what they want to do. In my case, I've wanted to be an ESL teacher since I was 8 and I taught my friends English (well, that's how it was in my mind lol). And I loved Korea when I went so all the more reason to go back. Maybe one day I will get bored of teaching but until then, I will pour my soul into helping kids.
totally! i know so many people who have no passion for teaching and it makes me so upset! I totally applaud the people whose hearts are genuinely in it, because teachers can literally change kids' lives!! Hope you're back soon!
OMG! I‘m in love with your office😍 I love these open spaces. The chilling area also looks inviting as does the rooftop. That hidden Ramen drawer is life. Hope you feel better now💕
I'm so sad to leave this building to be honest hahaha our new one looks cool too but this was my HOME! hahaha
Yaya, been secretly waiting for this kind of video 😂
hehehe here it issss! low key still want to do a tour of my new office because it is amazing hahaa
but safety first lol
I already love your channel. This is my second video and I just love it. 😩❤️
awww thank you!
Your workplace sounds so cool 🙌🏻
I'll be entering uni in a year and I'm really going to take this advice to prepare beforehand! Thanks, Cari! ❤
its definitely a smart move if you really want to work here! good luck and enjoy university, i miss it hahaha
Your company is better than most American companies, I think. I'm so jealous TT // I think every job can have it's really high and low moments, so I think you definitely describe your job/work life very realistically. Thanks for the tour and the information, as always. Keep up your amazing work
I got really really lucky with this work environment! and thank you as always!!!
YAY, ALMOST A 20MIN VIDEO OF CARI!!
hhaahahah i really tried to cut it down 🙈
Hai, honestly i just found your video and currently also lookimg for opportunities in korea. I also have the same major with you. And, thank you so much for thia video. It helps a lot!! 😍😍
I worked at an office here in Seoul as the only foreigner, but my old company was an absolute nightmare. You were definitely lucky in having such a nice office...not that it was all rainbows and butterflies, I’m sure. I only worked at my old job for six months before I had to quit to save my mental and emotional health.
Thanks for the info and the tour of your office, Cari. It seemed like a great arrangement. BTW, let us know when you get ready to return to NYC. I will have my CV ready. 😉😃
thank you as always for watching and hahhahahha i will keep you in mind ;)
Your videos are so informative! I just found your channel by chance. My dream is to work in China or Korea for one year once I graduate from college this June! Thank you for all the help!
I'm LAUGHING thinking about how insane your skype interview was lolol. This video brings back a lot of memories (good and bad, but mostly good. We got through the worst of it!!!!!). I miss working together!!! I think it's time for us to start finding ways to do some projects together again; its just meant to be~~~
seriously where were you when i was dying watching graveyard girl at work last week, i needed an excuse to go in a meeting room hahah we could have had a very serious meeting ;)
OMG this is the earliest I’ve been! Still watching the video 😃 excited to learn about your job!
yeeeee! thank you for watching~ hope its helpful!!
cari cakes very! 😊
Your job sounds so good, so jealous of the sleeping area!
Haha is it just me or is your company like heaven?! It sounds like an amazing working place. Because a real korean korean company is far from that, because even korean have a hard time dealing with them! I had a job in one that wasnt as awesome as yours, way smaller too, but also more European thinking as the ceo had lived and worked in France. But yeah so happy that you ended up at such a positive place, and able to work there for such a long time!
I really enjoy your vlog
The junk is what helps to make the happy times shine even brighter.
Oh I happened to see your video and I also worked for the same company as an intern in the summer of 2015! So nice to see that place again:)
Thank you for the awesome tour and for your great personality?
I'm thankful for this video tbh... I don't think I want to work in SK anymore haha it seems so... so much. Especially for someone like me who is basically just a freelance artist with no real marketable skill. BUT I'm okay with coming to this realization. Seriously, thank you for this video~
EDIT: I guess I should also mentioned that for the longest time I had this rose-tinted view about Korea and working there one day but like, this video confirms that it's not everything that I had hoped it would be. BUT again, I'm okay with that haha Change in perspective and coming closer to reality is good I think ^^
there are also so many opportunities that exist that dont involve you living and working here full time. Doing freelance work for short stints or someday having a gallery here! It's possible, just difficult - i hope you find a way to do what you want :)
Ah a gallery there would be amazing~~ and thank you so much for your comment, it's very sweet and inspiring
@@caricakes Wow.... so just watched you really long video about your experience with this job. I don't even remember watching this video but I came here to this comment. I imagine this is probably one of the last videos of yours I had watched before basically giving up on SK.
I am so so sooooooo glad you are in such a better, happier and healthier place in life.
Ahh it was so weird to hear my name! Thanks for choosing my question. :) I want in on those gift baskets lol (also the rooftop view is amazinggggg)
The olive oil wasnt my fav but those APPLES!!!! heheh and thank you for your question!!
Hahah I laughed when you mentioned Landscape design because that was my first major! But I've since changed bc of injuries...I think you seem very happy at your comany :)
you are so cute!!!!! i'm blessed I found your channel now :)
Your job and the company you were working at sounds really nice! I'm currently looking for jobs in the same field in Korea 😊
Thank you for this video❤️
Hope its helpful!!
Yeah, basically if i want to work in the film industry or audiovisual, i need to learn korean, have a good background and meet people, i know you didn't talk about film but i think it apply in all working areas.
actually since i'm film student, it's pretty interesting the entertainment industry, i love it, the production, the marketing, i enjoy watching videos and imagine how the made it and how the marketing and production team work.
Your company seems straight out of Silicon Valley. I bet your CEO went to school abroad and worked abroad as well. That's awesome. I'm so glad he/she creates a chill working environment to where employees can work without restrictions.
Monthly play day's. WHAT!!! lol Hmm, wait so how much working holidays do you have? and sick days. Also the women's day. Sooo sweet. Their Glassdoor profile goes up 5 stars.
yeah we're really lucky! We get 2 weeks to start and then an extra day and a half every year we work, but you can actually take as many as you want and rather than take it out of your salary, its just taken from your pension (since korean pensions depend on exactly how many days you worked if that makes sense~)
nice videos keep the good and clear answers
Your description of your company is making me want to go work in Korea! but as you said not all company is like that so..
I'm currently learning Korean so maybe one day I'll go to Korea...? Idk
Just found your channel, saw a couple of vids and i'm happy to say I'll be subscribing you!
I love this video😍😍😍😍😍😍 miss u💕
miss YOU!!!
Thank you so so so so much!! I just moved to Seoul. I am going to learn the language first and have no plan what I want to do next. But I graduated in the Graphic Design field and hope to find a creative-field job here in Seoul as well, or actually a café sounds nice too lol. But like you said, it is hard, but not possible. I will see what the future brings me, but first the language ahh...- TT
Your office looks so cool! It'd be fun if I can experience with that kind of work environment.
That sounds lovely. I needed this. Just got back from Voting in Texas. Needed something to think about, not all of the stress of it.
oy vey! thank you for voting though!!!!
Of course. We have to keep fighting. November is going to be another big one.
It is so informative everywhere. I am Korean American working at Korean company (kinda big) in NY. But Korea looks better in many ways...
I wanna work in your company so bad!
Love the informative content.
Probably too old of a video to get a reply, but I was wondering if you went to school for some sort of Korean major in the US how easy would finding a translating job/career be?
This video is exactly what I needed! I'm moving to Korea next winter, and will be looking for a job in design (mobile apps, websites). I'm ethnically half Korean, working on improving my Korean language skills, and getting ready to start the job hunting process. How do you recommend I become familiar with Seoul's design industry (i.e. who are the notable design agencies and tech startups, what local design communities exist, salary research, etc.)?
what a soothing speaking voice
Just found your channel and am loving your videos!
thank you so much!!
Wow...Description in French! Amazing. Do you also speak French along with Korean? I like what you are doing for us foreigner in Korea.
Thank you for the interesting video! I also have the feeling I should go abroad after I graduate next year because otherwise it will never happen. But i don't really now what to do. My degree isn't worldwide now/in practice so going to Asia to study it is not an option. Still thinking what to do, so frustrating haha
Yeah its not easy but where there's a will there's a way!! Good luck!!
cari cakes thank you Cari!
Seems like a super chill place! I'm happy for you (even with a terrible coworker and whatnot). Your tea stash looks as impressive as my coffee gear at work :)
our coffee stash at work is ridiculous, we have every piece of equipment imaginable hahahah
Maybe I should apply to work there :D I drink so much of the stuff my blood type is espress-O positive
Can you give some more tips on how not to get too comfortable and not have growth? I love my job, but I feel like I’m getting too comfortable and not pushing myself. Love your q&a and toast for breakfast is the best
trust me i have the same problem, thats why i had to leave before i settled down! now i feel myself getting really comfortable here but luckily i have my boyfriend who is looking at new opportunities and that helps me be okay with change - sort of. If I was alone I'd just stay here as long as I could because im comfortable to be honest :/
random but, i couldnt stop staring at that tegomasu poster on your wall ♥
Bahhahah theyre the best 😉
Omg I love the tapestry in the background! Where did you get it from?
Hi! Does your company hire engineers specifically industrial engineers? Or like someone responsible for the Quality Assurance? :) andddd thank you for this videos!! Learned a lot of insights 😍
i worked in a korean company here in italy and the vibes were not chill what so ever ahahah it was hell, i hope one day i'll be working in korea in a cool environment like you are :)
yeah i think because my CEO is really anti-korean work culture i got REALLY lucky!! hope you find a cool place too!
Thanks for this cari! I’m still a clueless college student who knows nothing about jobs and wants to move to Korea/Japan in the future - so this was super informative and insightful! And I’m sorry to hear you had to go through a rough time , hopefully that’s the last of that!
it taught me a lot about myself so it wasnt all bad i guess! and good luck with everything ahhhh!!!
cari cakes thank you!! and ahhh I’m so glad I discovered your channel :)
I love it ♥
Sounds like a unique yet great experience! It’s good to hear that there is still some hope about the job search here~ Thanks for sharing your insight and resources :)
thanks for watching!!
Thank you for all of your videos!! I wanted to know: how do salaries in Korea compare to those in the US?
They’re lower but cost of living is also much lower here!!
San Diego Squad !!!
Wow your work environment sounds amazing! I'm working at a Korean company in LA and they're SUPER strict. But the last Korean company I worked at was even worse. 😥
i think newer companies are becoming a lot less horrible because so many of the CEOs have studied/worked in america and keep that culture when they start businesses in korea, but soooo many companies are still BLEH
Good info...thanks for taking the time to spread your knowledge....I can relate to the speaking in one language and answering in another...HA! BTW, is your company hiring? :)
THANKS!!! Unfortunately I don't have a Korean embassy in my country. I learned is very important for rent house and other stuff, demonstrate a income. I have a permanent income from the Social Security and already have "key for work" that's the name SS given, and South Korea is on the list of countries I can move. I don't need to work if a want to but I can't seat on a sofa and don't do anything.
My BA mayor is in education and I speak Spanish and English perfectly. My MA is full in Archaeology and I star my PHD in History of the Caribbean but 2 Huracans with a week of difference, destroy the island. Is very hard to star again, I try during a year and the island turn the economy and general status like in the 40. Very sad but I decide, I can do more for my country from outside like other's do. I start taking Korean classes in January. But I working in the Theatre, Music, TV and Radio industry for year. I have a internship (7 years) acting and general theater production, and working for 6 years like a education manager in the beauty industry for 9 countries. ( Yes I live in aeroplane 78 trips only in one year) I have all the evidence diplomas, letters , news paper etc. I planing to work like a Make-up Artist for artist in a agency. Finally ( sorry for the big introduction) the Holliday visa is the most convenient for me?
Love your videos :)
thank you!
Thanks for sharing! I am also studying communications and media studies. My parents are stressed out, because they don’t seem to see any jobs opportunities with my degree (beside being a journalist...) I do understand them since communications is not as professionalized as for instance law or med, so I was unsure if I should change major. Your video removed a bit of my doubts.
Communications is actually a super valuable degree because its so vague and can be applied to so many things! Plus if you enjoy it, thats what matters :)
omg tazo chia tea yesss!
Love how hard you work with a full time job and still having a consistent upload schedule, very informative video! Did you work with Simon & Martina? That's so cool if you did !
hahahah trust me, i have no life outside of youtube and work at the moment 😂😂😂 thank you!!
Yes, I was their first "intern" I guess hahaha
super informative thank youuu~ if i may ask, is your job in the fashion marketing business or in a different field? jw!
thank YOU! and its in a different field! Very very occasionally we'll work with clothing brands but thats not really our focus^^
aquila zeze JW means just wondering
I didn’t know there is a working holiday visa for Korea!! I’m gonna search more about it 😌
OMO! THE ROOF IS SOOOO NICE!!!
Right?! I miss it 😭
Wow this is actually a dream job
