Packing for Grade V Alpine Routes

- Grade V climbing routes require bivouacing (sleeping) somewhere along the technical section of the climbing route where the terrain is flat enough to accommodate a lying (or sometimes sitting) person. Packing for such long and committing objectives requires special consideration, since you will be doing fifth-class climbing with an overnight pack and you need to keep the pack light and compact but still have what you need for the weather and terrain. Examples of routes in the Pacific Northwest where this may be necessary include the Torment-Forbidden-Traverse, Liberty Ridge on Mt. Rainier, North Face of Mt. Shuksan, North Ridge or NW Face of Forbidden Peak, Mt. Stuart's Complete North Ridge, and the West Arete of Eldorado Peak.
Thanks for sharing this information. Very clear and helpful in making adjustments to cut down on the weight I’m hauling!
Great job 👍💯 thank you Sir
Very good video thank you
Just one tip for begginers watching your videos: you should point at the equipment you are describing (InReach for example). Not everybody knows all the gear we use in the Mountains.
Albino, If your going up a grade V, your not usually a beginner. I think everyone interested in mountaineering knows what a crab, sling, cam or an axe is...
Great insight on a gear list 👍🏼 I noticed you have a Bluebird, Blue Ice make some high quality gear.
Great video, love the rest of your content. Do you have recommended "furniture water proof" spray that's better than nikwax?
@@skillsforclimbing thanks for the reply!
Do you find the Zodiac Techs comfortable enough to hike in for a multi-day approach?
