Totally agree! Fallen is a masterpiece from the first song to the last one. I know amy was the core of the band, but it is not hard to see that the lack of the former members like ben moody have had a great bad effect on the quality of the band next albums :( The open door is great, but at the same time there are some songs that are so average and can't even be compared to any Fallen song. The 2011 album evanescence is good for a metal band but to be honest, it is nothing compared to Fallen.. It sounds to average and generic with only some exceptions.
@@emskat118 - A lot of her lyrics were inspired by her sister, and many entire songs Amy Lee wrote for her, 'My Immortal' being one of them. It's funny - I dedicated 'My Immortal' to my brother before I found out he had gone on to continue the evolution of his Monad (or Monad Self - the non-'physical' Self, the closest term to that being 'soul' in what's called Hyperianism), and that was before I had found out Amy Lee had written the song for her sister who died.
@@madhatressadastra8267 nope. My Immortal was written by Ben Moody about his grandpa and is actually Amy Lee's least favorite song. She performs it only for the fans because she knows how popular the song is and ahe cares about her fans.
“Has no one told you she’s not breathing?” I’m a father of four little girls and I can’t imagine what would happen if something happened to one of them. Amy Lee had to experience way more than any little girl should have. She’s an amazing talent, and she is my favorite female musician by far.
my father had 4 girls, too. when i was 3, my sister amy died (and this song guts me every time). when i was 20, my sister megan died. i have no idea how he has the strength to go on, having lost two daughters. i've got three sons, and just the thought of losing one of them sends me into tears.
You’re correct, her little sister died when she was younger. It’s the reason why she doesn’t sing it live. Nor does she sing “Like You” ‘cause it’s dedicated to her sister.
Oh geeze, I didn't realize but that song is WAY more dark knowing it's about her sister. O.o "cold in the ground like you, there's room inside for two and I'm not breathing for you."
This is why Amy Lee is my favorite artist. She makes you feel what she's feeling, and not many artists can do that. You should check out the session lost in paradise by evanescence. It's just Amy and the piano. And for her, that's really all you need
You're such a nice and respectful young man. I admire you. I think you're dope af for being so genuine about your reactions and keeping your mind and heart open to the music.
i lost my beautiful son 9 months ago tomorrow.....he was 22 yo.....i love him so much and im suffering....and then i came across this song....your reaction was soul felt.....and yes....losing someone you love is the most painful thing...this song.....her voice....the piano, cello.....and the meaning......the most beautiful song ive ever heard....ive watched a lot of your reactions but this was the best.......love you my beautiful devin....see you in heaven one day my hero angel...
Thinking of my own little sister listening to this - passed after losing her 3rd battle with childhood cancer. I miss you every single day. Thank you for reacting to this amazing song
My sister passed away 10 years old from cancer, that was 55years ago there has never been that a day passed when I don’t miss her and cry, even thou I got married and have children, even to this day it hurts me so much
I had a friend tell me about a friend of his - her mother had died suddenly in a car accident. She was at her mom’s funeral and her heart just stopped - she died right there at the funeral. My friend helped take her car back home and he says he’ll never forget that this was the song playing in her CD player. And now I can’t listen to it without thinking of that whole tragedy.
Amy has the rare ability to channel the emotions through her music. You should definitely check more of their music and here are my siggestions: *LACRYMOSA (SYNTHESIS)* - this is something different that you'll appreciate, it differs from their usual style *Everybody's Fool* - a really powerful message, must see! *Sweet Sacrifice* - a banger *Made of Stone* - a real banger
Amy Lee / Evanescence are my #1 still to this day. I request any of her solo songs or covers or Evanescence videos. 'Like You' is also about her sister, as is this Masterpiece 'Hello'. The long lasting angelic note at the end gets me EVERY TIME. 'The Last Song I'm Wasting On You' is a good one too. / Body Count feat Amy Lee 'When I'm Gone' as well
This is about a person who has lost a loved one but is in complete denial and suddenly coming back to reality and realization the the memories are the only things that's left and will have to live with. It's like teh different stages of grief we go through when someone we love so dearly passes away.
About 6 years ago, I was in high school. I was 15 in year 8. I had this friend, I wasn’t too close to her, but we always talked to each other between classes here and there and she hung out with a lot of my friends and was genuinely loved by everyone in the school due to her bubbly personality and how nice she was to anyone she came across. She always had a smile on her face and always put one on mine whenever I saw her. One day I came to school and a teacher pulled me and a few others from the hang onto the office where another 15 or so people from the hang already were. We waited and waited until most people arrived, some in tears some unaware of the situation. I too was unaware but me and a few others pieced it together. And then it was confirmed by our principle. Our friend, our warm, gentle, beautiful friend had passed away the previous afternoon due to an allergic reaction. I cried watching this video because this song breaks my heart whenever I hear it because it makes me think of her. Even though I wasn’t close to you, fuck I miss you Amber. If there is a heaven you are most definitely there I just know it, watching over you’re best friends and all of us. Rest In Peace beautiful girl
This is by far my favorite song they have ever made, so dark yet so powerful at the same time. On a happier note, gettin close to 10K my man!! How's college going for cuz?
One song from a different band that gets me every bit as emotional as this one is the song "26" from Paramore's After Laughter album. I can relate so much to that because it's about never letting go of hope and finding the strength to not give up on life.
This song hits me deep because my oldest sister died 3 months before I was born so I grew up always knowing this kind of lost and was a bit weird because of it so people saw me as broken
also My Immortal is also about someone passed-she portrays the person that passed in the song and the video focuses on her guy still thinking about the loss-she never touches the ground in the song like a "Precense"
Suddenly I know I'm not sleeping, hello, I'm still here, all that's left of yesterday. ❤️ Tell somebody that you love them today. You aren't always promised tomorrow. I love you all ❤️ peace✌️
KainzMusic my only sibling and I were hit by a drunk driver. I was 13. She was 15 (18 days short of 16) I woke up in ICU an only child after her funeral was over. I have ALWAYS felt emotional about this song. Now, I know why.
I follow some dudes on twitch and I sent this song to one of them. This streamer is always happy and extrovert. And she just listened to the song for a few seconds. She went from very happy to sad in .00001 second. She could not listen to the song. It was to sad. I said that this is how I feel when I forget to take my antidepressants. Completely dark and sad.
Hey guys! LOVE this channel! This is like experiencing these songs for the first time, myself, watching you. So I have a suggestion for you if ya'll haven't heard it yet! "Whiskey Lullaby" by Alison Krauss. 😊
This song is so relatable. When my brother died I didn't want to believe it even when I had seen it. I sat with his body for 2 hours yet I refused to believe he was gone forever. Not until after the funeral, when he was buried, did I realise he wasn't coming back. But it took 8 months for that to fully sink in.
Dude, this was about Amy's dying sister. But it would also describe my spouse's abusive childhood. Imagine throwing up on the way home because you know you were going to be beaten when you got home for....imperfect hospital corners on your bed , or just because your Dad had an anger issues....and your Mom ignored everything. You tried to protect your brother by hiding him. As an adult, this stuff can come back and literally kill one. My spouse didn't need fixing, she needed more love than I could give from those who'd said she wasn't good enough. She was absolutely the lie living so they could hide!
You really need to give Lacuna Coil a listen. I still like Evanescence but am in love love with Lacuna Coil. 27 albums. They have been around since 1994. Gorgeous amazing front woman singer Cristina Scabbia and also backed up by Mr Andrea Ferro. Metal metal they have definitely evolved into heavier metal but they sound just as amazing live as recorded. They were also the first female band to ever be asked to join Ozzfest! There new album is called Black Anima I recommend Veneficium and Save me. Also not from that album I recommend End of Time,Blood Tears and Pain from the 119 show,Nothing Stands in Our Way, Heaven's a Lie and Enjoy The Silence (Depeche Mode cover)

3:50 instant goosebumps and chills every time on those falsetto notes.
Fucking insane
Csmal 1992 Those are belts, not falsettos lol.
Going Under please
Bro it literally makes me choke up every time when she hits those notes in the last verse, like she sounds so vulnerable
@@ASadPigeon the "lo" in "Hello" is falsetto. Also, the swap from the belt of "yesterday" to the falsetto of the last riff is so amazingly done!
Every song on the Fallen album is absolute gold. She's so very talented.
Totally agree! Fallen is a masterpiece from the first song to the last one. I know amy was the core of the band, but it is not hard to see that the lack of the former members like ben moody have had a great bad effect on the quality of the band next albums :(

I literally listened to the entire album on repeat when it came out.
💯
Have to agree there it's rare u find an absolute masterpiece of an album such as fallen
Your avatar brings some Coolio to mind.
This song is about death coming from a child's point of view. Amy's sister died when they were young.
echo zero Amy said in an interview also the song “like you”
amy was 6 and her little sis was 3 what dies. rip Bonnie

THANK YOU FOR DOING THIS! this is one of evanescence's least appreciated and underrated songs
I fully agree!!
One of my favorite Evanescence songs for sure.
She is an angel of rock music
You have such a beautiful heart.
Fallen is my favourite album from them. From beginning to end, it's a masterpiece.
I love how you feel the raw pain. I’m impressed with your emotional maturity. This song made me cry.

My son turned me on to Evenesense about 10 years ago. They are amazing!
Mine too! :) Hooked ever since....
Angelic voice.... I think you would really like the song "Speak to Me" which she wrote for the movie "Voice From the Stone". Simply beautiful...
This song is so true it does feel like a bad dream.i have tears
I love singing with this song. Goosebumps
Yea. Wow. I felt her pain.
I love this song but I didn't know it was about her sister! Omg it take it to another level..

Evanescence - Call Me When You're Sober
I loved this song as a kid without knowing it’s meaning, still love it
I pray Ms. Lee gets her roses.... the industry definitely didn’t appreciate or deserve her.
Ya she lost her little sis back in the 80s and lost her brother in 2018
Such a wonderful song and album.
Tourniquet by Evanescence is a favorite of mine:)
Me too!
Wow- love your description. That's exactly how this song hits you.
Her sweet voice she has, and Da Bears shirt, how awesome it that!

Bring me to life is my favorite by her her voice is haunting on all her songs and hits.
This could be about anyone you've lost in your life, since it's actually a song about the depression you can go through after loss
