@Mr. Rock N Roll I can’t believe you’ve only done 2 reaction videos for Amy Lee/Evanescence, both being a year ago. You wanted something hard. I’ve got one for you but there is only a lyric video, however the song slays. It’s called “The Other Side” I’m pretty sure you’ll love this one. I do admit I’m biased as I LOVE every song! Here’s the link. I really hope you do this one, I guarantee I’ll subscribe if you do. I’ll check back. You’re missing out, you’ve gotta hear so much more. ua-cam.com/video/HiIvtRg7-Lc/v-deo.html
Amy Lee is the most unrecognized talented singer/ songwriter on the planet. There maybe a couple singers at most that have her vocal range. But regardless, with her style, she is just in a different league. An angel. And she's absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!
The line in the first verse is "I wanna stay in love with my sorrow". The song is about being comfortable in sorrow, but wanting to break free and be happy, and it being hard to find the will to break out of a bad situation or feeling. Lithium is used as an antidepressant. Also evanescence is epic, and you need to hear "my heart is broken" and "missing"
@@kidc_7951 No it's really uncommon to use Lithium for depression. Its main use is for mania. It can be used as an adjuvant with people that are already on antidepressants, but it's of no use for depression on its own... I'm a psychiatrist. I think they chose this song title just cause it's cool, maybe the got no idea what they're talking about xD
@@vildoblue3933 actually they didn't choose the song title like that the song is actually about the effects that lithium has on a person's mind. The lyrics lithium, don't wanna lock me up inside, refers to the fact that many people who were and still are on it having a total or partial disconnect from their own emotions. Which was the point of lithium to medically disconnect the user's emotional center from the rest of the brain to better control them correct?
“Better Without You” and “Broken Pieces Shine” are faster songs from their new album, but Amy’s lyrics always lean towards the darker side. Just one of the things that make her great - you can tell she is singing with all her emotions, because the songs are really meaningful to her. I get left speechless, too, and I think a lot of people do!
He should go for the “intro experience”. Artifact/The Turn + Broken Pieces Shine. It’s been months since a The Bitter Truth was released and I still get goosebumps over those two songs.
I love better without you. It helped me get over my breakup with my ex. Everytime I need some encouragement I listen to it and I instantly perk up again.
Lithium salts are mood stabilizers. Its common usage is to treat disorders caracterized by extreme mood swings, like bipolar disorder and borderline personality disorder (generally when suicidal thougths are present). Lithium salts has an awful - although not common - side effect, that is some degree of "emotional numbness" for some time after it "kicks in" (usually in the begining of treatment). It's extremelly unconfortable, but it's better than not taking it at all.
Going Under and Sweet Sacrifice are heavier Evanescence songs. Also their latest single Better Without You is a banger. They will be touring with Halestorm later this year. You should check it out!
This song has been with me through some hard times. I know the story behind it is not the same as my take on the lyrics, but i have been on multiple meds for depression, anxiety etc. and i have felt like the lines : "Here in the darknes i know myself" and..... "Don't wanna forget how it feels without Lithium, I wanna stay in love with my sorrow. Oh, but God I wanna let it go" So this song has been with me, helped me and got me through a lot of shit. Today im off all those meds and doing great :) Not saying that this song did all that, but its been a comfort in dark times and a help to push on to get better :) I still cry when hearing it, also to your reaction, and im a 46 year old 6 foot + 250 pounds ish kinda guy (Im on the metric/kilogram system so dont know the excact meassures lol :D ). But crying shows strength and emotions so im good with that :D
Your reactions are just brilliant!! The way you go speechless and lose yourself in their music! You actually seem to appreciate and hear each word, I love that 👏🏼🤘🏼
If you haven't reacted to Hello you need to it's one of my favorites even though it wasn't one of their big hits, very emotional. Thanks for the great reaction.
Been 17? (I think 17) years since Fallen dropped and it's still one of the best rock albums. Ooooh I'd die happily if I see Amy and Floor sing together!😭😍 Next check out Spawn Of Possession- Apparition (w/ lyrics), brooooo! Neoclassical/ symohonic technical death metal masterpiece. For fast Evanescence, check out Call Me When You're Sober (I think you might have done it), Going Under, Tourniquet, Everybody's Fool
Please react to Artifact-The Turn and Broken pieces shine combined together from their latest album The Bitter Truth. And then Far From Heaven. It's about her brother that passed away and losing her faith 🙏
Yay!!! I was hoping you would do this one. Thank you so much. Story behind the song - In an interview with MTV Italy, Amy said: "It's not literal, it's not literal about the drug for me, I've never taken lithium before. It's sort of a metaphor about numbness and happiness and sort of like, it's me looking at happiness in a negative way because I've always been, you know, kind of afraid to be happy. Like with the band and the art and everything else, it's always like I'm never letting myself break through into the happiness it seems like, because it's not cool or something. And describing happiness is lithium, it's like saying 'that's numbness, I won't be able to be an artist anymore if I'm happy', which is hilarious because that's just not true, I'm happy. So it's like this fight within the song of like 'do I do this and get out of here and get happy or do I wallow in it like I always do?' and it's cool because at the end of the song I say 'I'm going to let it go', like I am going to be happy."
Actually lithium is a really good analogy for what she's feeling in that sense. Many people who use lithium feel a disconnect from themselves. They feel sort of like on autopilot. Think of it like your emotions are more your higher brain functions the complicated process that your brain filters that separate each of us as individuals. Our lower more instinctual brain functions are just things we do to be productive members of society. Lithium basically shuts down our brains higher functions in favor of letting the lower functions shine so we don't have reactions. Like if someone is running at you with a knife your first reaction would be to either run or fight but you'd also have an emotional reaction which would be either one of fear where you'd scream as you're running or one of anger as your running towards said person ready to attack. Lithium simply tells the brain you don't need to be angry or have fear just run away or attack. Don't make a show of it.
This was another song written for Shaun Morgan from Seether, btw. Ther are a few on that album. He was an alcoholic and entered rehab the day "Call Me When You're Sober" was released. In any case, he said in an interview not that long ago that he really missed Amy and really loved her, but he had a problem. He's sober now and married
Amy Lee wrote Lithium when she was 16 years old and played it on guitar Amy said in a Interview. But only for herself, it was never used, later then she and the band made the final. In age of 17 she wrote "listen to the rain" you hear it on YT here choir is performing. Amy wrote many other songs, and some for Films; Bring Me To Live (Daredevil), Sally's Song (Nightmare before Christmas), Made of Stone (Underworld Awakening), Lacrymosa (The Tudors) and maybe others I didn't know.
Loved your reaction it was absolutely fantastic. Amy Lee writes the lyrics. She is fantastic. You should check out Yeah Right and Part Of Me from their new album.
Such a beautiful song! Definitely one of my favorites. Check out some of their live songs like Thoughtless (Korn cover) or Farther Away. Both pretty heavy.
Amy Lee is definitely a rock goddess, I had the pleasure to meet her a few years ago, she's very nice and down to earth. She signed my copy of their first album 😁
My immortal was full of grief and longing. Lithium is pain and torn indecision of whether to stay or let go. Fast songs: Going Under and What You Want. Really hope you do a reaction to Going Under and My Heart is Broken.
I fully understand what u trying to say. Amy is a goddess... I luv her... her voice, everything... Nobody needs a Victoria secret model when they saw the goddess amy :-D
Lithium..a powerful drug that numbs the heart and soul...and is used to control bipolar episodes. Great compassion for those who suffer such deep despair.
Amy Lee is US's version of Floor Jansen. Her voice lifst you up chops you down to bits, spreads you to the four winds, brings you back together and then repeats :)
It's fairly obvious from these videos that, in addition to an incomparable voice, Amy Lee has acting chops as well. The video for "Everybody's Fool" proves to me she could make it as a professional actress! Well worth a look (and listen).
It's really this song you feel the pain and the urge to hug the person to try to comfort and soothe. Amy has a beautiful voice. PS: I accept your polar bear hug haha 7:48. a hug sometimes changes a person's day for the better. love your beard
Yes. She writes all of the lyrics of her songs. This was about a moment in which she was trying to decide if fall in love and be happy, or stay the same state of mind she already knew.
Its actually "i wanna stay in love with my sorrow" not 'soul'. The song is a hauntingly accurate description of what it can feel like to take lithium (medication used for bi-polar disorder, depression and cluster headaches)
As someone mentioned in the comments already, you should react to their latest record, The Bitter Truth, which dropped months ago. If you want to recreate in some powerful Evanescence ‘S song, go for the intro: “Artifact/The Turn and Broken Pieces Shine”. Those two songs go together and if you dive into it I assure you won’t be disappointed. ❤️🤟🏼
Love the video, love your comments and reviews of songs. Floor Jansen and Amy Lee would indeed be a great collaboration. Although there is a song of Halestorm that Amy Lee is featured in (Break In). Keep doing what you do!!!
Dude! I'm a little late for this party but I love this song, went looking for some reactors (?) reactions and yours, that first pause where you were just silent. YES!! The best I have seen on this song. I literally lol'd . This is her. She leaves an impression. No going back. :)

This woman could sing a Chinese takeout menu and make me tear up 😂
SHE WRITES ALL THE SONGS. And the line is "I want to stay in love with my sorrow."

Fast: What you want - Emotional: Tourniquet
She is the writer of all the Evanescence songs.
She is a great singer and performer. And she's my favourite singer since I was a kid ❤

You will probably like “going under” by evanescence or they also did a sick cover of korn- thoughtless. It’s heavy
Amy's superpowers: leaving Mr. Rock N Roll speechless.
And run out of the room as he usually does. LOL
Jokes aside.
She's amazing.
I love his voice.
*Evanessence Going Under‼️💜‼️*
Can't watch these songs by Evanescence without shedding a tear. And I am 6"5 and fairly big bloke. I just can't help it.
I'm only 5'8", glad to be with you brother
Going Under and Sweet Sacrifice are heavier Evanescence songs. Also their latest single Better Without You is a banger. They will be touring with Halestorm later this year. You should check it out!
I guess "Lies" is the heavier song
Going under is amazing
Give "What You Want", "Going Under" and "Everybody's Fool" a go.
She has absolute control over her voice...any note...anytime...anywhere. Damn!
not a good breath control tho
Her vocals are so unique and gorgeous. Legendary
